Pony Up looks like a regular bar on the inside, but they crank out some serious food - mainly French Dips but they're not messing around with the hot wings either. We went here looking for a good munch before a Rockies game and definitely got what we were looking for. Starting with the hot wings, they were very rich, tasty and fat. Definitely some of the better wings around. I rarely have French Dips, so I don't have the most credible opinion on them. We got the Chicago and the Saigon, and honestly these were two completely different sandwiches. I thought the Chicago left a lot to be desired, as the meat was pretty bland and not much flavor was coming out from the other ingredients, so the only thing I tasted was the Jus when dipping it. The Saigon on the other hand was exactly the opposite, it had rich flavors inside of it and dipping in the Pho sauce didn't actually do much for it. Reminded me heavily of a Banh Mi. The common denominator between these two sandwiches, the bread, was very soft, chewy and delightful. All-in-all, for what it is, it's a really solid stop that doesn't disappoint if you're in the area and walk in for a munch. They're probably the best option for places that are open late in the area also. But there is a certain amount of hype around this place that I don't think is justified - the French Dips are good but not incredible. I would possibly come back to try some of the other French Dips, but not any time soon. read more

Went here based on the reviews and it didn't disappoint. Came after a Rockies game and got in quickly. I know some people asked: Note it was 10:30 pm and they did card everyone and had someone wanding people at the food. The place had a cool atmosphere with a disco ball and cool art. It was very close to Coors field and easy to walk too. Not a huge menu but what they had was good. Wonderful sandwiches and the karragi chicken was crispy and juicy. My daughter said her pho sandwich was one of the best things she has ever eaten! Highly reccomend if your in the area. read more

I'm not even a fan of Buffalo wings, but I loved the Buffalo wings here! The sauce was really yummy, but the only thing I would change is next time I would order them extra crispy, because I love the skin on chicken wings to be crispy and not soft or flabby at all. Just a personal preference. You get about 7 wings with an order. We also got the crispy potatoes. My boyfriend and I shared both appetizers and we both agreed they were delicious. When your coworkers are from Denver, it's easier to trust their recommendations, and this was one of the first places I went to where I followed vs explored on my own. Ambiance is incredibly relaxing, and it's a good sign when there's a huge painting of a dog in a suit right when you walk in. I don't drink, but I did have French onion soup (a fave) and Caesar salad with chicken. Both hit the spot after a long day at work. One of my coworkers had a problem with her drink, and our server replaced it with no hesitation or rebuttal. To see that was awesome as I've seen some servers suggest having the drink remade. Places like these help wind down after a long day of mental wear. Laughing, getting to know coworkers, and just having great conversation and good times is awesome. We googled random restaurants after finishing up with 1Up arcade and found this gem. I saw shishito peppers and wanted to try this place. But unfortunately they were out of it. We ordered the Saigon sandwich, French onion soup, country karaage and happy hour drinks. They were out of non-alcoholic Shania Tang, so I ordered another one, forgot the name but it had a sour taste and was really good. The country karaage was really juicy! The Saigon sandwich was good but too salty. I would've loved it more if I had shishito peppers to go with the chicken. Nevertheless, definitely recommend this place to everyone. This place is a bar first, food second. It's a pretty cool vibe if you want to get a drink, and staff are definitely friendly, albeit overwhelmed. I'm giving it three stars because we came to get food, not drinks. We got The Frenchie French dip, chicken Cesar, chicken karaage, and hummus. The karaage had too much breading imo, and the Cesar was pretty basic. None of it tasted bad, but also nothing to write home about. Came here around 10 pm on Thursday because our flight had just gotten in and it was one of the few places around that was still open. It was on my list of places to try and I knew it was going to be great, so I was more than excited to drag my husband here. This late, it was definitely a bar/club vibe but fun - great music, good service, exceptional food. I got the French onion soup which was like a hug to the soul, it was amazing. We had just finished enjoying a concert and we were hungry, this place popped up as one of the open ones. as you open the door, there's two guys (one checked out IDs and the other one checked for weapons?). The ambiance was cool, with nice lighting and good music. The service was ok, I know we got there a little late but we were rushed into ordering and the server wasn't very nice. I got a grilled cheese and tomato soup. The grilled cheese was delicious, different kinds of melted cheese. The soup was very salty, but somehow it worked with the sandwich. So delicious in fact, that I ordered another before hitting the road. It's called, "Pony Up" and is a shot of George Dickel Whiskey with a their beef au jus on the side. You take it like a pickle back - shoot the booze first and then SIP on the au jus as its very warm when you get it. I really loved the vibe of this place. Okay I kinda love this place!! We came here for happy hour and it goes until 7 pm which is so late for a usual happy hour!! They have some seriously amazing cocktails for $7/$8! We got the bees knees and a classic Daiquiri! You can't beat that price in the city! We also tried their French dips because they offer 5 different French dips on the menu! I always seem to get lucky with evening street parking in Downtown Denver. Once you arrive, all seating options are great, whether you're with a few people or a large group. Pony Up is definitely the quintessential late night dining option in Denver. I came here twice during my short trip--once for a truly late night post Red Rocks concert bite, and then before that on a Tuesday evening. Sitting at the bar both times, I appreciated the hooks underneath to hang things and service was friendly and timely. The Buffalo wings were decent, with the blue cheese sauce being the star of the show -- the wings themselves were okay on the crispy scale, and not as meaty as I typically like, but decent enough! The French onion was good, but the broth was just a tad too salty for me to call it perfect. Hope they can perfect the broth and tone down the sodium just a bit.. One of the sandwiches I had was decent and the cracked potatoes were absolutely delish. We ended up sitting at the bar but you can also order food along with your drinks so it's fine. The chicken karaage was delicious. It was flavorful and crunchy. I love that it's boneless so I can stab and eat it with a fork. The potatoes were okay. They're too big to be considered a potato wedge so it's more of a deconstructed potato fries crispy. We were starving and missed dinner so there wasn't many options when all of a sudden a bartender tells us about glorious late night French Dips. We b-line for Pony Up and snag a table. The playlist already had us going and then our server comes by and he's probably the coolest guy in Denver. I didn't catch his name but he was a Native American guy with long hair and he was the best. We literally would have ordered anything he told us to based on his passion alone. While we weren't swooning over our server, we put in for the Karaage Chicken and Crispy potatoes to ween off our hunger pangs... and more cocktails of course. Both were excellent starters and great for sharing with a couple friends. I was torn on what sandwich to get because they all looked amazing but the Frenchie just had everything I wanted and nothing more so I went with that on the Gluten Free bread. Surprisingly the GF bread was excellent too. We didn't want the party to stop so we got a round of Get Crazy & Pony Up Shots which consists of a shot of George Dickel Tennessee Whisky and an Aus jus chaser. Now this might sound like a strange combo but it was a glorious way to end the meal. Make sure to let the aus jus cool because it came out boiling hot and we almost sucked it down that way.
