I had already been impressed by the Death & Co in NYC, so I knew I had to try their branch in Denver. I was not disappointed. A moody, velvet filled space with a comfortable bar. Laid back vibe and welcoming staff. Nothing pretentious at all. The bartenders were knowledgeable and gave great suggestions. Always stayed on top of my drinks. The thing I like most about Death & Co is the way the categorize their drinks: Light and playful, bright and confident, elegant and timeless, boozy and honest, and rich and comforting. I had the aqua profunda (cognac, St. George basil eau di vie, lillet rose, strawberry, lime, and absinthe). I also had the eight limb daiquiri (rum, Canada aguardiente, Thai tea cordial, lime leaf, and Maraschino). The Blood Oath (mezcal, Vecchio del capo, Calabrian chili amaro, St. Germain Elderflower, lavender, honey, lemon). All were complex and delicious. You could pick out every flavor, yet everything melded together so well. They also have some basic bar food and snacks, but somewhat elevated. I had the D&C Burger and it was juicy, rich, and had some great accompanying fries. I love the LA Death & Co location so had to check this location out while on a quick trip in Denver. The drinks blew us all away as always. My go to is the Disco Tiger which I was very happy to find out they had at this location too! Our server was extremely knowledgeable about every single cocktail on the menu and gave us great recommendations. I give this location a 4 star rating because the food didn't live up to standard of their drinks. The steak tartare and oysters were good. The OG of the craft cocktail scene, so naturally I was thrilled that CO had a location when we were visiting. It's in the lobby of The Ramble. It was a big draw for us to stay at the Ramble because if you stay there, you can make reservations. The drinks didn't disappoint! Nothing over the top of presentation but I was SOO impressed by the servers rolodex of knowledge - really impressive. The cocktails were all really good! What can I say about Death & Co that hasn't already been stated. It is hands down one of the best places for well-crafted cocktails in Denver. Yes, it is expensive and you may have to wait for 45 minutes or so to be seated, but it is a great place for a special cocktail and the moody, cool atmosphere. It is located in the lobby of a boutique hotel and it's staff detail to service shows. Incredible options! The menu is organized into styles of cocktails from "bright and refreshing" to "bold" to classic. Every option was a unique combination of interesting flavors. I started with the Wolf Parade cocktail, with mezcal, cantaloupe, and curry bitters. It was one of the best cocktails I've ever had - each flavor was distinct yet worked so well together. I later had the Redemption Arc cocktail because I was intrigued by the white port but it ended up sweeter than I wanted with more of a one note "alcohol flavor". My friend ordered a cocktail from the "refreshing" section with honey and ginger and it tasted like the bright younger sister of a hot toddy - perfect for a crisp spring day. They offer bar bites and small entrees. We ordered a Frankenstein combination of the bread and the cheese plate as they were out of some items. The bread and cheese were so simple but so freshly made and paired perfectly together. We got to try a sample of their blackberry jam with mustard(?) seeds which was interesting. I topped it off with the cookie order, hold the milk (my tummy) and only 2 of the standard 3 cookies. These were freshly backed and so gooey - why can't all bars offer dessert?! You can tell that everything is highly crafted and there's a lot of thought put into every detail when it comes to the drinks and everything else. I interacted with three individuals: hostess, server, and manager and all were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Drinks here are as good as they get. Our party of 3 had to put our name on a list, and wait for a text message before we could get in. It took maybe an hour or a bit less? I guess we needed a resy, opps. (Don't make that mistake unless your ok with waiting a while) Its super cute inside large space. Beautiful chandeliers, leather couches, with lounge tables, and seating scattered all around. Mood lighting of course. And apparently theres an outside patio as well, but I didn't know about it, so I didn't check it out. The cocktail menu is descriptive enough to help filter your choice. It had a fun vibe. I could easily see people gathering here after a business meeting. Or ending up here after a night on the town. I saw folks on dates, and in larger groups. Service - was good. Our bartender Regean was not afraid to look at her notes when we asked questions about the cocktail choices, which was fine by me. I prefer that, over her making it up. Service is on the slower side (as stated in other reviews), but not completely unreasonable. Drinks - are creative and interesting, with a costly price tag. My drink was $21. Death & Co has a very unique atmosphere when you walk in, whether in the morning or in the evening. This gorgeous space is the lobby of the Ramble Hotel. It always feels a little special walking in, in my opinion. Located in the RiNo/Five Points area, there's a decent amount of nearby activities. With this, street parking is available, depending on the time it can be a little tricky. They have seasonal drinks which bring a nice change for different parts of the year. At the time I went, there was the Wizard in Black. It's a take on an Old-Fashioned with Banana liqueur and cold brew. It was good for an Old-Fashioned, strong but not overpowering. The Bloody Mary was also fantastic, loved the seasoned rim. I believe they had a Frittata at the time as well. And it was a little small for the price, but good. On another visit, I shared a Crudité with my friend. It was a decent amount of vegetables and the dip was decent. Death & Co offers two great ambiences for day and night. A bright and chill environment for brunch and a low light, almost romantic air for evening drinks. The morning service is order-at-the-counter, while the evening has standard table service. The price point is standard for Denver, which can be a little high, but the drinks are worth at least one visit! read more

A friend and I showed up for the Genki Bar pop-up, which is walk-in only. On Friday 11/22, the host took our names for both Death & Co and the pop-up but never actually added us to the Genki waitlist, only to the Death & Co one. We were quoted "1 hour for Death & Co and 3 hours for Genki," and then never heard back from either list. We even tried calling and texting with no response. If you're going to heavily advertise a pop-up that only accommodates around 20 people at a time, it makes sense to offer some sort of reservation or time limit system. A 3-5 hour wait with zero communication is just pretentious. Very disappointing experience. read more

We checked out their Denver location recently when visiting friends and checking out a show at Red Rocks. Their Denver location is in the RiNo (River North) neighborhood near Coors Field. It's a beautiful space and unique from their flagship location in Manhattan and others in DC and LA because it's inside a hotel called the Ramble. It's a boutique hotel offering a beautiful space that is eclectic and refined, but comfortable and welcoming. The staff is well trained and provides exceptional service. The menus are as creative as you'll find and the quality is fantastic. This location is unique because it offers breakfast options with craft coffee and food along with a rooftop bar that has a tiki vibe. The frozen Espresso Martini shown in the photos was enjoyed on the fun rooftop bar while we were waiting for our table. The whiskey cocktail shown in the other photo is called Buddy's Rendezvous. It's Compass Box Blended Scotch, Calvados (apple brandy), Amaro Nonino and Cocchi Rosa. It's a delicious boozy recipe that is well-balanced and smooth. Delicious!! Death & Co. is also known for writing prolific cocktail books which their original is known as the cocktail Bible. They're great gifts if you want to help friends get into cocktailing. read more

The servers are all very knowledgable and I always get great guidance from them that allows me to get new things that I'll enjoy. I love the vibes inside as well. The only reason it's 4 versus 5 stars to me is that it is pricier than I typical am looking for and often the crowds and wait time deters me. However, that's just my personal preference as I get old lol. But I think they are the best of the best for their style of premium cocktail bars and it's my go-to place when this is what I'm looking for, especially with out of town guests. read more
