Bedlam is easily my favorite bar in Denver. The steampunk/Victorian vibes is a classic look but with a twist. The decor is great and the vibes are always great. Drinks are strong and tasty. This place has the coolest vibe that is immediately ruined by the staff. We have come here several times after concerts or sporting events and gosh the staff is so rude to both customers and each other! You are supposed to wait for the host to seat you, but they are never there. I recently witnessed a bartender yell at a couple who missed the sign at the host stand and asked them if they could read instead of politely asking them to wait to be seated. The drinks are delicious and I love the different style of seating selections. The food is also pretty good as well. I understand that things get busy and drunk people can be annoying, but if you can't keep your composure maybe the service industry isn't for you. It's disappointing but after several sub par experiences we won't be back. read more

And, wow - the space is amazing - lots of details, lots of interesting things to look at and fantastic bar. This place has so much character and style. We sat at the bar and chit chatted with the bar staff as the night began and folks began to stream in. They are a really well oiled machine, taking great care of everyone - at the bar, along the back wall and at the tables in the rear. The drinks? Really, really good - creative and inspired. Bedlam was recommended to us for late night drinks by staff working in one of the restaurants at our hotel. During our short stay in Denver, we went to Bedlam twice. The first time was around 11:30 on a Thursday night. We had a few cocktails along with a cheese and charcuterie plate. The second time was around 12:30 on a Saturday night when we came in for a night cap. The first time we came in, it wasn't too busy, and we were encouraged to sit wherever we wanted. The bar was full so we chose a small table. Our server gave us menus, though specials were written on a chalkboard above the bar. We each tired a couple of cocktails and had a shot called the Master Shot. We also chose the make-your-own charcuterie board. Our favorite drink was the Woo Girl, which allowed us to choose our spirit of choice. I chose gin and my friend chose tequila. When we returned a couple of nights later, we knew already we were going to order the Woo Girl cocktail. It was packed on a Saturday night, but there was a small table in back where they seated us. This bar is more for spending time with the friends you come with, rather than mingling, as staff seats you at a table. It doesn't seem like they offer standing room or just squeezing in, though maybe we just didn't experience that. That said, all in all, I really enjoyed Bedlam and recommend it to anyone going to Denver. read more

Came across this hidden gem by accident and what a special treat it was. Something about this place just feels so cool and relaxed and is the perfect place for a nightcap. All the drinks we had were great, I chose a Negroni which is my go to. The best part is they offer Underberg shots, which we'd never had before, but is a German digestif. We grabbed seats along the wall, which was beautifully designed and decorated. Their Sazerac (Cub's Sazzy) is unique and one of the best I've had. Great cocktail bar with a few unique menu items. Came in on a trivia night and staff was nice albeit a bit slow. My friends and I tried a number of the signature cocktails and had a few hot toddys that were super good. I'm personally a big gin and soda fan and loved ther housemade tonic that was in their classic G&T. Did not try any of the food but the dawgs were definitely would be tempting if I was hungry. Loved the decor and the plants all up in the space. The space is a bit more dimly lit and I think of a reasonable volume for a date. Would love to come back and spend some more time here. read more

If the City of Denver can boast about some unique bar which gives you the 1920's Paris era ambiance where time stands still, then you should look no further. This space used to be Deep Roots Winery & Bistro which I utilized once in the past. I didn't know what had happened to them as my memory with them fell into oblivion. Apparently, it closed back in 2020 and the space had stood empty for years before the owner started to renovate the place and turned into a beautiful bar with all sorts of vintage stuff displayed throughout. Named after the first asylum for the mentally ill in England is a story that appears to have a deep meaning behind it, the bar's logo design is so intriguing and goes so well with the overall atmosphere of the bar. This place may be advertised as a bar with "European comfort food". The prices for the drinks and foods are extremely reasonable for the location (on Wazee) and the elevated atmosphere. This place, not like other places that have "closed days", is open 7 days a week from 4:30pm to 2am. People in Denver can rely on this place no matter what day of the week when they feel like a good bar food and a quick drink after work at 5pm or late into the night when you simply don't feel like going home because you just want to immerse yourself in some nostalgia. For me and my adult daughter, it was an early Christmas family dinner on a Tuesday night. I got a glass of Izadi Rioja Reserva and she got a glass of N/A Aperol Spritz. And to go with our drinks, we got us the Smoke Trout & Onion Dip and Baked Brie. On a wooden board, they gave us plenty of crackers and pieces of bread to savor the two dishes. Did we have any complaints to talk bad about any of the stuff we ordered? Absolutely not. No matter what your drink is, these two dishes will go well with it. A few things I would like to mention about this place: 1) This is not a place where you will expect to eat a lot of "filling" foods. After all, this is a cocktail bar with elevated bar foods. As far as we remember correctly, the menu for the food is quite small. Maybe you can eat lightly before you go here. But the drink options are plenty; it will not disappoint you. 2) Open bar seating only. I did call them ahead of time and made a (ghost) reservation but you might waste your effort by doing so. Just walk in and see if you can grab a table or a few bar seats. 3) This is more like a little suggestion to the bar staff/owner. The kind of music that was being played in the background was a bit of a mismatch to the overall ambiance. Like I said, this place is like stepping into 1920's Paris era (to me, that is how I describe it.) In my opinion, if they play the kind of music or songs used in the "Midnight In Paris" soundtrack, it would elevate the whole place to the next level (in short, some old jazz music would be great.) Well, ever since our last night's dining experience, I've told at least one of my good friends about this cocktail bar. Word of mouth is sometimes the best way to spread the good news; the good news about this place will most likely spread. As much as I want to keep this place secret as this is my "little gem" or "little jam", I simply couldn't hold back my excitement to be expressed on Yelp. So go check this place out. read more

Excellent new cocktail bar in LoDo! A friend suggested this place and I was like "huh, what is that?" I had never heard of Bedlam until walking in. Once we made it inside I remembered this took over the former Deep Roots Winery space. The bar has a beautiful exposed brick wall, a carefully curated menu, and an overall aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. Definitely more of a cozy date spot, though us three dudes bellied up to the bar. I like places that serve craft cocktails, but don't judge you if you're in the mood for a shot and a beer. The bartenders here aren't pretentious at all. I ordered an Old Fashioned and it was tasty and well balanced. Little sweet, little bitter just how it should be. Let the whiskey shine! Bedlam made Westword's Top 100 List under New and Noteworthy, and it is well-deserved. This narrow, well-decorated space reminds me of many NYC bars/restaurants. Service was fast and friendly. There are fun, upscale bites (Lays and caviar, who would have thought?) with excellent cocktails. I tried the La Bandita which went down a little too easily which to me, shows the expertise in the blend of ingredients (tequila, lime, Amari, and orange blossom water). A nice place to have a conversation with a friend and to just look at all the eclectic yet well-curated decor on the walls and around the area. A carved wooden sign hanging from wrought iron leads you to this lovely bar on Wazee Street. read more

Came in on a Saturday with my husband, we loved the vibe and ambiance of this place immediately. Our server Beck was lovely and the bartenders were very helpful with drink suggestions. We ordered the la bandita which was so yummy and an old fashion which was also great! She said that there was no splitting tabs for parties of 6 or more. I was with a party of 4, not 6. When I questioned it, she fumbled to find a menu that stated that rule, but couldn't, so she quickly blurted out that one of the guys in our group said he would play for everything. I immediately knew that this was a complete lie because I know these people well and no one in our group had the financial means to pick up a $500+ check. Not only that, but as a group, we had all agreed to pay our own way through this vacation, and had done so for the entire week. She said "you can just Venmo him, it's easier." Easier for who, her? Definitely not easier for me, given that my checking account was temporarily locked for fraud and I had to use credit cards the whole trip until I got my new card in the mail. My friended up paying for everything because she was being so rude and he didn't want to cause a problem--but when we left, he said that he 100% never said that, never would, and that she lied straight to my face. The rest of my party also agreed that she had been rude to all of them all night, too. She just didn't want to be inconvenienced by splitting things off of the tab -- something that every POS system in 2026 America makes it very easy to do. I respect the whole "party of 6" or more deal, but we didn't have a party of 6. I should have been asked for a card to start my own tab instead of assuming that we were all together. I've been in the service industry as a bartender for 18 years. Definitely a disappointment because we otherwise had a great experience & I always take care of my bar staff. I'd give this place another chance, but management should take this review into consideration and hopefully chat with her about having an attitude change. Was in the city visiting family and friends. Happened to be up late one night on a Sunday and took a ride around town on a electric scooter. Was looking for a late night drink by myself and something low key/not a club and happened to run into this place. Looked it up on yelp and noticed it was one of the only few bars that were open pretty late into the early morning, that wasn't a club. Walked in and only maybe a handful of people with 2 bartenders.
