My wife worked in the area until she retired 4 years ago. It was her favorite place so she went there often. I have joined her many times over the years and found the food to be above average if not exceptional. We recently went for brunch and unfortunately we agree that the food is disappointing. She ordered her usual grilled cheese and tomato bisque. Bisque is by definition creamy and silky. Not so in this case. I could only describe the consistency as "rough". The flavor lacked depth that was present in the prior bisque. The avocado toast was "garnish heavy", resulting in a flavor profile that masked the avocado and the bread. Finally the shrimp and grits were "overdone" again, the tomatoes and spiced oil overpowered the grits that were near flavorless in and of themselves. The avocado toast should be a fairly simple dish that showcases the taste of the avocado and the crunch and taste of the toast. Additions to that combination should enhance the taste not overpower it. As for shrimp and grits it's a fairly simple combination of shrimp, grits and cheese. Again additional flavors should enhance the basic profile and not change it completely. My basic impressions is that the chef has tried too hard. On top of that the bill came with a $2.25 kitchen appreciation charge. The service was excellent as usual too bad the food doesn't measure up to that standard. read more

If you're staying at the Curtis (doubletree) hotel in downtown Denver, this is absolutely worth a visit. The ambiance alone almost earns an extra star. It's chic, stylish, and full of Instagram-worthy touches (including the fun "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere" wall). Whether you're grabbing breakfast, happy hour, dinner, or a late-night drink, it's a convenient option with great vibes. We grabbed seats at the bar, and while the bartender was friendly, he seemed a little more invested in chatting with coworkers than keeping an eye on his guests. Drinks came quickly, but it took quite a while for him to circle back for our food order. Once we ordered, though, the kitchen was on it. Our food arrived fresh, fast, and beautifully plated. Honestly, the presentation was a 12/10--almost too pretty to eat. I went with the burrata bruschetta since I wasn't overly hungry, and it hit the spot. The bruschetta spread was fresh, packed with flavor, and had a little spicy kick that I loved. (My only complaint? As always... I needed more crostinis/bread! That's a me problem at this point I guess so I won't fault them lol...) My boyfriend ordered the miso salmon, and judging by home joining the clean plate club that night, it was a winner. They also have a solid beer and wine selection, weekday happy hour, and stay open until 10 or 11, making it a great option for a nightcap after a long day if staying at the hotel. Would I make a special trip just to eat here? Probably not. But would I happily come back every time I stayed at this hotel? Absolutely. Though the food is rather pricey. $18.00 for a grilled cheese and tomato bisque for starters. The food was tasty. Our server Gianna B was very courteous. Just a tip. If you want an old fashioned and want a large ice cube you need to ask for it or you'll receive the smaller cubed that melts faster and waters down your drink. Not bad for a hotel restaurant. Only had breakfast but would try dinner. The shrimp and grits were ok little weird tasting witb the toppings. They couldn't make over easy eggs both times came out raw whites which didn't bother me but shouldn't be that way. The potatoes were great. The steak and eggs was not good either. Given I went to a Michelin place the night before so kind of hard to compete. The kfc chicken sandwich was not good either. Too much slaw not much to the chicken and not enough sauce flavor. Pass on this one. Arrived moments before happy hour ended-which was a blessing since the drinks are very overpriced. Happy Hour wine was $8 a glass and was a good blend of two white wines. Servers were nice and attentive. What was really bad is that there was NO circulating air on a hot day in Denver. We decided to try the Corner Office before heading across the street to see "The Book of Mormon." We arrived at the restaurant two hours before the show, thinking this would give us plenty of time. The hostess was pleasant and seated us quickly. However, the service was slow because many other diners had the same idea. We got our first round of drinks in a reasonable amount of time, but the food took about an hour to arrive at our table. The waitress was friendly but rarely checked in on us--our table of four ordered two grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup and two salmon dishes. We rushed through dinner and could not find a server to help us pay the check. With 15 minutes before the curtain, we found our waitress and got out. The salmon was cooked perfectly, but fewer than five spears of asparagus accompanied it. The flavor of the ancho chili and cream was good, but I still felt hungry. The Corner Office does have an outdoor patio but only for use during the summertime/warmer weather months. The other downside being that the patio sits along 14th. Hello car exhaust and street noise. The food was good (5 stars!) The classic Grilled Cheese with Tomato Bisque was a safe bet and it was a good choice. The bisque was delicious!!! Came to have an early dinner before our show. The place is well located and easy to find from the theater houses. The aesthetic looks like sort of retro, very cool decorations. The service was excellent. We got there before rush hour and our server was still on top of things considering how busy she was. As far as food I wasn't super impressed. It was good but nothing out of this world (except for the tomato bisque), although they do offer vegetarian/vegan options. For appetizer we ordered the crispy cauliflower, it was tasty and good combination of flavors. For dinner I ordered the jackfruit gyro. I've had jackfruit before and this one was lacking flavor compared to other dishes I've had with jackfruit. My friend had the grilled cheese and tomato bisque (the bisque was to die for). I ordered the cacio e pepe and a dirty martini. The martini was fine, if not a bit dry. Overpriced obviously at $19. The cacio e pepe was actually offensive. Cacio e pepe is Italian for "cheese and pepper" and those are the ingredients in the dish. The Corner Office chooses to throw in a bucket of BUTTER. To their cacio e pepe, and instead of a pepper flavored creamy pasta sauce, it's a broken greasy mess. The bucatini is a great addition though. 5 stars. read more

For a restaurant tied to a hotel this one is pretty reasonably priced. It compares to other places in downtown with a higher end bar and mains. Menu is small in each section of available ;app, salad, hand held and mains. It's not a huge menu but there is something for everyone. Bar has all the staples and some fun things on their speciality bar menu. Be aware reservations are pretty necessary on nights when the Denver Center has shows. There are limited bar seats that you can get drinks and food. When the place isn't too busy it's a quiet place with fun mod design. When the place is packed sound echos and it can get loud. Same thing with service. If they are busy be aware service will be slow. Maybe book your meal early, if you have some where to be, so you aren't rushing. If wanting a drink or food after a DCPA show be aware most nights it is closed by the time shows get out. read more

Every time we go to an event at The Denver Center for Performing Arts and we want a place to eat before or after the show, we go to The Corner Office. It's right across the street from the DCPA, the food is delicious and they have wonderful cocktails! The staff are friendly, and they are also very mindful of timing, so they can get you out on time for your show. The Corner Office decor is funky - very mid century modern inspired - bright colors and Ball clocks. They are right next door to the equally funky and original Curtis Hotel. So, it's a great place to get a meal when you're staying at the Curtis. One of my favorite things to eat on a cold day is their Grilled Cheese and Tomato Bisque (that soup is so delicious and creamy). I also love their Braised Shortrib & TCO Burger which is served on a challah bun! I've been to The Corner Office Disco Brunch which was a lot of fun. I saw on their website that they now have something called 'Brunch through the Decades'. Every weekend they celebrate a different time period by playing music from that time period. You can dress up for possible treats. That sounds right up my alley! read more

I hate leaving bad reviews but this is necessary. We stayed in the hotel The Curtis. Cool hotel, the restaurant is located in the hotel. The night service in the restaurant was awesome, she was sweet and we had no issues. Best salmon I ever had btw! Now, the morning brunch service by far the opposite. Being from another country and used to work in a dive bar is no excuse to horrendous service. I sat at the bar first time and I saw it was busy so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I was in the industry myself for 15 years I GET IT! But, the next morning sat at the high top in the bar area which he takes care of as well... I sat there for 28 minutes I only know this because I walked in at noon and left at 12:28 I wasn't keeping track of time I just was shocked when I looked at my phone and it was exactly 12 o clock haha. Anyway I walked out and didn't get any service he stood behind the bar cleaning off plates and cleaning dish ware knowing I was sitting there for a long time with zero service or even water. The table next to me with 3 people they had to get up and go to the bar and order through him that way then go back and sit down, that's not service it's inconvenient for the guests at what you want to call yourself a restaurant. The ladies next to me the first morning had to track him down just to pay and they as well were sitting at the bar... sorry not sorry but it's not okay for someone whose going to open a restaurant myself he would be fired immediately under my management. He also was rude and looked just plain miserable. Loved the accent, good looking dude, needs better work ethic. Period. Oh did I mention that was the best salmon I ever had? Ok! Rant over. read more

Perfect walking distance to and from the Buell Theater. My friends and I recently saw WICKED! We had dinner at a sandwich shop around the corner and wanted dessert. My friend had been here before and suggested we go. It was easy to get a last minute reservation online. We were seated right away and our server came over and started us off with waters. We told him we were there for desserts and drinks. We noticed the restaurant offered two WICKED themed drinks! One was pink with tequila base, the other was green with vodka base. We got one of each and my friends really enjoyed them! The menu online did not reflect what was offered in the restaurant. We ended up getting three desserts to share. The Crème Brûlée, the mousse (not on the website menu), and the three assorted dessert flight (not on the website menu). Lets break each one down. The Crème Brûlée was offered as a cream or espresso flavor on the website menu so I asked for cream and the waiter said, "Oh it's lavender. Is that alright?" We said yes cause we wanted to try it. It was not our favorite. My friends have had lavender Crème Brûlée before and they said the flavor didn't seem right. It was my first time trying it so they let me tell them what I thought before they shared their thoughts so it wouldn't sway my thoughts. It tasted a little burnt to me. I was a little disappointed as Crème Brûlée is one of my favorite desserts. The Mousse. We all assumed it would be a chocolate mousse. Now if it said the flavor on the menu and we all glanced over it, that was on us. It was actually a passion fruit (we think) mousse! I actually really like it :) The fun chocolate overing and the fruity flavor mixed well together! We all enjoyed it! The three assorted dessert flight came with two cream puffs, three macarons, and three chocolates. The cream puffs were great! I thought just enough cream for a delightful bite. The macaron was wonderful! I got the vanilla (assuming) one and really enjoyed it. The chocolate was ok. I'm not the biggest coffee fan and I got the espresso (assuming) one. Which was funny cause my two friends got the other two and they said both of theirs were normal chocolate haha. I just happened to pull the espresso one haha. Over all it was a fun experience. Very cute inside and the noise level was about average so we weren't yelling at each other but still talking a little louder than normal. I hope to go back someday soon! read more

I really WANT to like this place, the closest restaurant to where I live. I've been to The Corner Office 2 other times in 2025. Each time the food was simply 'not good'. Last night I tried again: burger and salad. What could go wrong? The "TCO burger" was taste-free, like eating textured cardboard. I was expecting 'flavorful', because the menu cites the meat as "Angus beef". But I got snookered: in restaurant lingo, 'Angus' may simply mean the animal had some Angus genetics; quality still depends on USDA grade (Prime, Choice, Select). I did some post-meal research, found that the term "Certified Angus Beef" (CAB) is what guarantees * at least 51% Angus phenotype (black-hide appearance) * USDA Prime or Upper-2/3 Choice * 10 strict carcass specs for marbling, maturity, ribeye size, fat thickness, etc. All of which yields 'flavorful'. The "Boardroom Wedge" salad was not iceberg lettuce. Instead, it was some kind of leafy mini-plant with bitter stems. Poured over the wedges was (runny) bleu-cheese dressing, topped by various crumbles: bleu cheese (good), chopped red onions, and horrible burned-bacon crumbles. BURNED BACON: * Bitter, acrid, smoky-charcoal flavor * Loss of sweetness of the pork and the fat * Texture becomes dry, crumbly, gritty * The taste lingers unpleasantly because carbonized proteins and sugars produce harsh compounds VERY CRISPY (but not burned) BACON: * Still tastes like bacon: salty, savory; sweet from caramelized fats * Crunchy but not dusty * "Brown Maillard" flavors (nutty, roasted) instead of charcoal flavors I realize that it is convenient to burn the bacon before crumbling, because burned bacon is much easier to break into small fragments. But there's a difference in taste and hardness. It was like trying to eat charcoal rocks. Burned is not just "extra crispy"; it's a chemical step past caramelization into char, and the flavor shifts dramatically. There was one good thing: the broccolini that accompanied the burger was delicious (although cooling by the time it was served) -- which elevated this rating from 1-star to 2-stars. Except for the vegetable, the food was a bust. I pushed it away, partially eaten. No doggie-bag! The Aussie bar-service was inattentive. My water glass sat empty for most of the meal, and I never achieved the drink I sought (a pre-dinner Aperol). read more

My daughter and I wanted a birthday brunch prior to the showing of The Lion King on 11/2. I made reservations for 11:15 am, which was the perfect time. When we arrived, there were several hostesses at the desk and we were seated right away, which was great. Unfortunately, service forward was slow. The restaurant did not appear to be very busy, but I did not have view of the entire restaurant. My daughter ordered eggs benedict and I ordered a Denver omelet - both were good. I also ordered the Office Gossip, which was delicious! The issue came to service. Guests were seated on either side of us after we were seated - not an issue except we seemed to be ignored while those around us were attended to. The waitress would assist those on either side and as she would walk away, I had to flag her to get her attention to bring the check and then to take my payment. It was as if our table was invisible. Our group is visiting Denver and found this restaurant while walking. We were seated quickly during lunch time and looking around there was plenty of seating in tables and half booths. Our waiter was so quick and friendly! Regarding the food, the Caesar salad was good, although pricey if you add protein. To add chicken, the salad came out to be $30. Others at my table had the pimento cheese which was good, the chilaquiles, and one of the other salads. One thing that was off putting was the smell of the restaurant. When we walked in, it smelled like the sewer system had broken and it really was difficult to ignore. Hopefully it was just a problem for that day. read more

Staffing is inconsistent and often rude, and a reservation is mysteriously elusive even when the restaurant is half empty. Food/drink: I was celebrating, so I treated myself to the bottomless mimosa. I mean, why wouldn't I?! Several juice options, including the usual oj + grapefruit, cranberry, pineapple or apple (?) juice. I went with grapefruit. They serve with the juice on the side to allow you to decide the balance of your mimosa. My breakfast burrito was delicious. I saved half for later. My husband and friends devoured their meals. We were all happy and satisfied. Atmosphere: chill. No disco brunch today. That must be a thing of the past. We made a reservation just in case it was a busy Sunday morning. We enjoyed two delicious martinis before our food - the Best Practice and Sidebar. It's hilarious that it's corporate-themed. We then enjoyed the tasty pimento cheese dip, followed by the KFC sandwich and the beignets. The sandwich was tasty, but the bottom bun gets a bit soggy and it's MESSY. Becky warned us! I have to say we were somewhat disappointed in our meals. The best of the three was the Poke. The short ribs look delicious, the ribs themself were very tender but lacked in taste on plain mashed potatoes . The biggest disappointment was the Jack Fruit gyro, which was more like an undressed salad on the Pita bread. After a few bites, we realized there was no tzatziki sauce on it because they forgot to add it as described in the description. Apparently, there was misinformation or miscommunication, and no one told us there was a time limit for kitchen orders (including drinks). It was a weekend night, so we thought we had more time. It would have been fine if not for the awkward customer service; the waitstaff seemed to be having a horrible day. I ended up not eating and only ordering two drinks.
