My husband and I stumbled upon this place because we were starving and it was open late. So why not? We found a gem! We were there on a night where there weren't any comedians or musicians lined up... But their schedule for performers looked amazing! The food was absolutely incredible! My pasta was so well cooked... The pictures don't do it justice because it was night time and they were weird colored lights on. But honestly... Some of the best pasta I have ever had! If you're looking for a late night, eat, this is the place! Try and go on a night when someone is doing stand-up or music... It would've made the vibe so much cooler! read more

#18 for 2024 This is a small restaurant bar with only a few tables. Not recommended for large parties. There were 2 people working when we came. Service is a bit slow with very few tables available. The bar was wide open if you wanted to sit there. Noise level was not high so it was easy to converse. We were taking a break so we didn't have much time. With only an hour it's very tight having to walk to get here. I can't say it was worth it. The food was good and satisfying but there wasn't any wow factors to get excited about. The $26.00 lasagna was hefty in it's aluminum tray. Not sure if I could eat it all. I could split that and be happy. The chicken alfredo was okay. I guess I'm use to a creamier, rich sauce. Taste was there but just not enough. read more

I've tried this place 3 times now and I'm officially done. I love supporting local but man, it was just disgusting. The last time I was here I had the shrimp tacos. The shrimp was rubbery, undercooked and unseasoned...placed on an undercooked tortilla and topped with cesar salad! Yes, cesar salad. I was very confused because the pictures on Instagram don't show Caesar salad topped on it. It's supposed to be cabbage with a chipotle type orange colored sauce. It was a terrible combination and it was 22 dollars which was insane. I was starving and I hate wasting food so I ate as much as I could stomach I should have sent it back, but because I was the only person in the restaurant eating it felt awkward to do so. The last couple times I ate from here, everything I had tasted like Michelina's frozen meal. Each time I ate there I spent at least $60. Like I said I love supporting local restaurants but man the food is so terrible and I have no idea how they have so many five star reviews. The pasta was passable but there's no way that wasn't jarred sauce. Live and learn. read more

Attending an event at The Bellco Theater, you'll need a reservation here. Great Apps, Drinks and Italian Entrees. Smaller Venue, so seating is limited, the atmosphere is warm and cozy. Surface parking is nearby and the Bellco Theater is an easy walk from here. read more

Discovered this spot while searching for dinner prior to a show at Paramount Theater. I stay often at The Slate and wanted something within walking distance. From the moment I stepped in, I knew I was going to love it - the vibe, the laughter, the music, the cocktail menu, the nightly specials board, the greeting...and then they really wowed with smooth service and amazing food. Made for a perfect evening with my bestie. Will absolutely be back and hope for a table. read more

Bar Red - a perfect martini - Bars Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Small cozy Italian restaurant with just a few tables. On a cool fall Wednesday, my group of 8 filled up the restaurant. The one server and the one chef were working pretty hard and they seemed to really want to make sure we were enjoying it. The portions were somewhat small for an Italian restaurant. The shrimp Diablo scampi was good flavor, but not much spice. The chicken Parmesan had great flavor. Everyone in the group was happy with their order. Full bar. Go when you have time to experience it! read more

Yummy freshly made Italian food in a dive bar atmosphere place. Perfect for what we needed in a cold night. Easy walk from The Slate hotel. Our server who was also the bartender was great! Best chicken Alfredo read more

The service was fast. The food amazing. I had the anti pasta plate. Husband had shrimp scampi. We shared chocolate torte that was moist and tasty. Highly recommend this place. read more

We got a deal through Groupon, which comped the appetizer, a charcuterie board, and two mixed drinks. Everything tasted wonderful and the service was excellent. Because mixed drinks are $15 each, we calculated that you don't really save a lot with the deal. The drinks weren't worth it and it's mostly ice of course. Food was awesome though so we would go back for that as a snack. read more

This is an absolutely amazing gem that my boyfriend and I found tonight! Be prepared to spend a pretty penny however, BUT the food is so worth it! Came here as a little fun date night & absolutely loved the joint & will be coming back! Our servers were outstanding as well, very friendly vibes & great music as well as having some very chill programs on the tv. They have dim lighting here as well & for the parking you have to pay for the metered parking outside (assuming you find a spot). This place also isn't too far from the metro if you ride that into the city! You can see the Capitol building as well from the restaurant which was really sweet. Overall a very clean restaurant & well kept, the food also came out in a very decent time (15-20 minute wait) and you can watch the chef make it from certain seats. It felt like a hidden gem & will be coming back! read more

Zach is an amazing bar tender! He was very nice. I love the ambiance and the location.

Best lasagna I've had in Colorado. Solid music vibe. Limited menu but very engaging and accommodating staff.

On a very infrequent basis do I find a place that feels like home to me. Bar Red has cultivated an ambiance of laid back jazz club with the best Italian offerings I have tasted. From the insane dirty martini to the crème brûlée-esque cheesecake my palate was fantastically satiated. The atmosphere, which lacked for nothing, was further enhanced by the lively behind-the-bar conversations I had and service I received. read more

The ambiance of this hidden gem is just enough. The restaurant is very intimate and hosts many underground and main stream hip hop artists. The owner of Bar Red is a gifted lyrical poet as well. He gots BARS!! I enjoyed the Seared Salmon With Risotto. The dish was absolutely delicious . Try it you won't regret it!! read more

Found this gem while looking for a place before Denver's speaker series. The food is exceptional, and the service is so personable, with great menu recommendations. The ravioli appetizer might be one of the best things I have ever eaten. read more

Loved this place! Food was awesome, as was the service. Cool place with a chill vibe. Will definitely be back!

service and atmosphere was less than expected, food was subpar. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

This was a welcome stop on the way from our hotel to the Denver Center for Performing Arts. (easy 10-15 minute walk to the Buell Theatre). Bar Red was kind enough to make a Caesar Salad split for 3. Our gluten-free friend found clearly-marked options from the menu, which was nice. I ordered a flatbread pizza and was brought the wrong one, but it was one I didn't mind so I didn't say anything. It was good. The menu on their website did not match what was presented in-house, and we didn't inquire whether those entrees could still be made. The Owner/Server was a jovial guy that started our evening off nicely. Our mixed drinks were also nice. Would definitely repeat before future shows. read more

The shrimp scampi diablo is my favorite pasta dish, I literally crave this dish! Get the fried raviolis for an appetizer & tiramisu for dessert. So good! read more

Took my wife and myself to celebrate our anniversary. We had a very nice time and the food was great. Most likely we'll be coming here again. Atmosphere was good and the service was great! We had a great waiter. Parking was kind of a pain though. read more

We were staying at the nearby Slate hotel and needed a bite to eat. Bar red had a limited menu but what they had was very good. My daughter and I split a Caesar salad and she ordered chicken parm while I have the chicken Marsala. Portions were just enough and our waiter/owner was helpful in answering questions about things to do on the weekend. Definitely recommend. read more

We walked in and were lucky to get a small table with no reservation! Wait staff were extremely attentive and the ambiance for the space was amazing for a couples dinner. We started with the fried ravioli, which were a perfect match for their red sauce, and ordered the margarita pizza/carbonara both of which were exceptional! Would highly encourage anyone to give this phenomenal spot a try, your taste buds will thank you! read more

Everything and everyone here was truly amazing. Service, food, ambiance was outstanding. I have rarely encountered such an overall outstanding experience. Kindness and attention to our party was incredible. I cannot recommend this place enough. I hope you'll give it a try. read more

I've been to Bar Red twice now, and after the second time, I chose to gave this place 2 stars. The first time we went was for the whole deal you get if you show your ticket for an event at the Denver Convention Center that you are attending that day and then receive any free drink -- which is a great deal, as the margarita I had was delicious (and originally like $9!). However, it was strangely quiet in the bar (at around 5:00 pm on a Thursday night). Along with our free drinks, we got 2 appetizers during their happy hour (the artichoke dip is truly cheesy & delicious & the flatbreads are pretty tasty as well). The only true weird thing about our first experience was the environment. Our first experience was pretty good, but the second time we went to Bar Red was not all that enjoyable. I had a coupon for $25 off $50, so we decided to get drinks, an appetizer and 2 entrees. The artichoke dip was too good the first time to pass up, so we got that again, and then we got the Chicken Parmesan and the Salmone Agrodolce - my boyfriend loved his dish, and mine was just fine, nothing too special. But the worst part of the whole thing was the extremely slow, inattentive service. Our waiter showed no emotion throughout our whole meal and rarely checked on us to see how we were doing - nor did he apologize for the slowness of the service. We were there for nearly 2 hours, which really didn't make sense, as the place was nearly abandoned, once again. Because of the poor service (and the strange ambiance of the nearly-empty place), we do not plan to go back to Bar Red. read more

The service was SPECTACULAR but the food was lacking. We got the lasagna and chicken parm-both portions were nothing to write home about. The parm came out soggy-not even sure how that's possible in a restaurant and I've had better lasagna from the freezer section. Drinks were ok but were $20 a piece. I would not come back read more

Went here after working a show at the convention center all day. We based our choice on reviews and the menu posted on this site, grubhub, and the establishments' own website. All of the menus agreed on price except the paper ones we were handed at the table. Those menus had the prices jacked up by more than 50%. When we questioned the difference, we were rudly informed that we would be paying the paper menu price. When we asked, "What if we ordered takeout?" Before we could even finish the question, we were interrupted with "you're gonna pay those prices" while pointing at the paper menu. The menus in the restaurant were printed on paper and slipped into a folding menu sleeve. Again, those prices were more than 50% over the prices listed on their own website. I believe they inflated their prices simply to steal from the people attending Fan Expo. I would never give this piece of garbage a penny of my money, and unless you like supporting dishonest businesses, I suggest you don't either. read more

I paid for parking based on what I read here. Got there, and the piece of garbage who owned the place, I believe, refused to honor these prices. He said, "These are the prices" if I order from my phone to take out? " I asked. You're still going to pay the menu prices. which, by the way, have gone waaaay up. The salmon, which is listed here for $16, is now $25. He was rude and obnoxious. DON'T BOTHER WASTING YOUR TIME !!!! BAIT AND SWITCH. read more

Wine options are ok but having an option to choose from range of better quality wine selection would make it so much better and bring me back more often. I would be willing to pay a little more for some higher end wine options. Owner is awesome. Food and atmosphere is great! Love the lighting. read more

Best Italian in Denver. Great cocktail selection and wine list. Customer service from Zach was off the charts.

Fantastic! Divine! Delicious! I could go on and on about this trendy little spot. First let me say this was the best meal I had in Denver. I also loved the decor, reminding me of a cafe in Paris. Dim lights, but big windows with lots of activity outside. I was shocked to see people in almost every seat ( but socially distanced) . The place is intimate, with a few tables and a small bar. It's so cool! Downstairs has a fireplace that is probably fantastic in the winter. The patrons were young, gorgeous, lively. It added to the vibe. The food stole the show-- and d ceded my expectations. We had the shrimp scampi and chicken Parmesan. Wow! The shrimp was large and perfectly cooked. The sauce was creamy, light, buttery and melted in our mouths. The pasta was thick ribbons that tasted totally homemade. Some of the best pasta I've ever eaten. Soooo damn good. The chicken Parmesan was also amazing, a huge portion with gooey cheese and a side of pasta. They are definitely following COVID guidelines, we were served on disposable plates and everything was really clean. The staff work masks and were very cognizant of being on top of it. The service was great and we also met the owner. It was a wonderful night. I'll be sure to return. read more

Great place off the main strip of 16th street. Very cool vibe, delicious food! Service is top notch.

We picked this place because the prices weren't terrible on line. When we were given the menu, we were sadly mistaken fettuccine Alfredo $22 and it wasn't even a full portion. We spent $50 on subpar, artichoke dip and fettuccine Alfredo. I watched the bartender fish out something floating in a woman's red wine. He switched glasses and gave her the same red wine back to her. Someone really needs to call Gordon Ramsay because it's literally kitchen nightmares. Ambiencewas terrible along with the service if I could give zero stars I would. read more

This place was so cute. The dark atmosphere was perfect. The food was SO good. Diablo shrimp scampi very delish. Owner was a nice guy too

Made to order food that tastes great with good quality and nice selection of drinks! Awesome atmosphere, chill.

salad was drenched in dressing. Fish was ok but nothing special. Price reasonable but food wasn't what I had hoped for based on reviews. It might be a short staffed situation . Nice bartender read more

Stopped here on a whim and immediately dug the vibe. Small, dark and chill. Service was good. Drinks were excellent. The homemade pasta is exemplary. Only criticism I have were the Baja shrimp tacos were shot. They consisted of saturated tortillas, shrimp with little flavor and a heaping pile of lettuce. Don't let that dissuade you from going though. Just get the pasta and some drinks and you're good. Also the flatbread was good but the crust seemed like it was reheated store-bought crust. read more
