My experience at Palace Arms was definitely an 11/10! This may be the highlight of my Denver trip. Palace Arms is a historic dining restaurant inside the Brown Palace Hotel. Upon entering the building, we were amazed by the astounding Napoleonic decor of the entire building that includes rare artifacts and paintings seen from the ground to the ceiling. Inside the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed and seated by the staff. The feeling of sitting inside that room was unreal. It's like dining inside a well-curated museum that only the most sophisticated people can afford. Fortunately, Palace Arms offers a very affordable elegant experience with their Le Palais Frites three-course prixe menu for $50! There are some substitute you can do for extra charge. For the appetizer, I opted for the Caesar Salad, which was made right in front of me. This was honestly the tastiest and most delicious Caesar Salad I've had. I then ordered the Flatiron Steak, which was very peppery, rich and tender. For dessert, I got the Classic Napoleon, which I thought was decent - nothing too spectacular. However, my friend ordered the Bananas Foster Flambé, which was also made in front of us. It was a smoky, cinnamon-rich and warm dessert. And my favorite of all was the bottomless duck fries. It was very addicting, savory and crunchy. This dining experience was very unique and I am very thankful to have experienced it all in an affordable cost. I always enjoy the Palace Arms. It's a cool place to have a great meal. Service is always amazing, attentive, and on a level hard to find nowadays. This place always has the most amazing staff. I docked it a point because the food from the kitchen was off a bit today. Compared to my previous visit, the steak was cooked in a way that made me feel like they did not rest to beef at room temperature prior to cooking, leaving the outside overcooked and the inside undercooked and none of it medium like it was supposed to. The chicken seasoning was also a bit heavy on a spice that overpowered the rest of the dish. Neither of these two things were noticed on my first visit so my guess is it was on off day. Consistently Outstanding at Palace Arms! This was my second time dining at Palace Arms, and once again it was an incredible experience. Everything about this restaurant feels special - from the historic setting with its fascinating Napoleon collection to the warm and elegant atmosphere that makes dining here feel both refined and comfortable. The service is truly exceptional. The staff is attentive, gracious, and always a step ahead, making sure every detail is taken care of without you ever having to ask. After years of hearing about this fancy spot from my high school sweetheart (a Colorado native), I finally got around to giving it a try. Originally, I had planned on visiting for high tea. However, upon researching, I discovered that they offered a three-course prix fixe dinner for $49 per person. So, I made a mid-week dinner reservation to take advantage of the opportunity. When I arrived, I was blown away by the grandeur of both the hotel and the restaurant. It's definitely the kind of place where dressing up feels appropriate. As for the food, my wife and I both stuck to the prix fixe options: the market salad, the flat iron steak (she opted for the portobello mushroom entrée instead), and the Napoleon for dessert. Everything was good--except for the dessert, which was unfortunately terrible. Overall, the food didn't quite live up to the experience. Drinks are a bit pricey for simple cocktails ($18-20 and like a spritz), but the service was very attentive and fine dining level. You get unlimited duck fat fries which were amazing, and very generous portions for entree. Ambiance is typical brown palace, a bit dark and stuffy but in a historical way, like old library vibes. What a stunning and historically rich venue for an amazing Elite experience. Ed was such a gracious host and I loved all the details he provided about the Napoleon collection as well as for the history of the hotel itself. Knowing these little nuggets made the experience even more special. The dining experience is top tier and the details were phenomenal, from emblems on the plates, chocolates to the gold leaf on the dessert everything was gorgeous. We sampled almost everything from the prix fixe menu including lots of add on's. Shining stars for me were the Gotham green market salad, broiled oysters rockerfeller, creekside Flatiron steak and the lobster thermidor. All so elegantly plated and all so very delicious. That cognac au poivre sauce is something dreams are made of! To finish the evening the tableside bananas foster is not only a show but also the perfect sweet treat to cap off a perfect meal surrounded by the most beautiful Yelpers Denver has to offer. Came for the Le Palais Frites prix fixe menu. We came early right at 5pm and room was empty. Our server was really nice and welcoming and explained the history of the hotel as well as some artwork. The menu has 3 options - flat iron steak, half chicken or mushrooms for vegetarians. They all come with duck fat fries and a house salad along with Napoleon for dessert. You can upgrade steak or get lobster thermidor for added fees, you can also upgrade salad and dessert. I got the 40 cloves of garlic Chicken and it's not a typical roasted chicken of crisp skin and sauce it's a very saucy almost braised chicken in the garlicky sauce. It was tasty but not overwhelmingly garlicky. My guests got the flat iron with Au Poivre sauce. I tried a bite and it was great, I love the au poivre sauce very smooth and delicious. We upgraded the table side Caesar and it's huge enough for 3 in a bowl very fresh tasting. My guests got the east coast oysters. The ones I tried weren't great very small but they enjoyed. Lastly we did the bananas foster for 2 and was great to watch. The Napoleon felt more "de-constructed" than others I've had. They had great wine selections especially a rose that was wow. The room is beautiful, elegant, and full of old-world charm, making it a fun and memorable experience. The staff is also great: friendly, attentive, and professional throughout our visit. However, for the price point, the food leaves much to be desired. While everything was presented nicely, the flavors and overall execution didn't quite match the setting or the cost. My wife and I went to Palace Arms for a special Valentine's Day treat. We've never been, but have always wanted to go. I have a few things from the experience that felt noteworthy for future patrons. 1. Online, they advertised a pre-fix menu for $59/person. That seemed like a great price for a three course meal. We booked a reservation through OpenTable and were contacted a week before Valentine's Day that they had upped the price to $125/person! That's an insane hike. But because we already had the reservation and it would be tough to get something else, we decided to go. 2. The restaurant is right across from a cigar lounge. You could smell strong cigar odors in the waiting/coat check area which was extremely off putting. In my experience, cigar lounges keep their doors closed for that exact reason. I want everyone to enjoy their chosen experience, but it wasn't a great first impression. 3. For a pre-fix menu, I felt a little rushed to get in and get out. We had a reservation for 7:45, we're seated at 8ish, and out the door at 9pm according to our ticket. For a three course meal, that felt a little fast and really cut into any hopes of romance for the space. 4. Food... sigh. This is where I had some real issues. We were told that the chef put a lot of thought and time into making a lovely Valentine's Day menu. For 1st course, my wife had oysters and I had the salad. My salad was fine, no complaints. Her oysters were truly awful. After trying them, they almost tasted like they'd come out of a can. For our mains, she got the filet and I got the lobster. Again... the lobster wasn't good and was chewy in a way I've never seen from a lobster. Also, another small quibble... we were told it was a 1.5/lb lobster. But it was served without its claws or some sauce incorporating that meat. It was just strange. My wife liked her steak but was adamant that the cut of meat was exquisite but the cookery was not up to snuff. I tend to agree. But I'm not here to complain about a great cut of meat. I consider that a win. Dessert was fine and uneventful. She had the raspberry sorbet and I had the chocolate soup. Standard dessert fair. Overall, for $125 per person, I expected more craft and care in the meal. I think everyone should go and experience this once. It was a fun evening in a fun environment. But I won't be back. The food was just not good and the price point just insane when I can do an 8 course tasting menu at a Michelin Star restaurant for the exact same price. read more

Christmas Eve pre fixe dinner was a complete disappointment. I honestly don't know where to start. Maybe with the part where the waiter explained that nobody was ready and he'd just printed out menus. Or that there wasn't a beverage list. There was EXACTLY one glass of white or one red wine for the ENTIRE dinner. That was the choice. And they picked the brand/type. And then charged extra for it. The food was ... fine. If the entire experience wasn't so negative I don't think I would remember what we even ate a week later. But because it was such a disappointment -- then I can tell you it was perfectly fine soup, a meh scallop, forgettable pasta, something they claimed was "wagyu" beef, and a dry ginger cake. The service -- not great. Aside from hearing the drama behind the scenes, our water ran out several times. Dessert came before the coffee arrived. And it took forever to get the glass of wine I didn't actually want. And despite the steep price and lack of beverage options, they still charged us extra for a single cup of black coffee. In total: $400+ for two people to hear a waiter talk about how disorganized things were, no choice in beverages, and so-so food. I made a reservation after a suggestion and when we arrived we were a early. The staff greeted us and seated us without delay. This restaurant takes you back, way back. It is an absolutely beauty of the guilded area. Our glasses were promptly filled with water from their house well. It was cold, fresh, and clean. I ordered their house Manhattan. It was delivered super fast and to be completely honest. It was one of the best Manhattan cocktails I have had in a long time. So much so I asked for their recipe. It's traditional manhattan measurements but using Woodford reserve, carpano antica sweet vermouth, barrel aged cherry bitters, and finished with a boozy cherry. Excellent! For dinner I selected the tableside prepared ceasar salad, a special top steak, and the strawberry sorbet for dessert. The beet infused bread with lava salted butter is a must try. A very knowledgeable young man came to our table and prepared our salad. He precisely hand made the dressing, tossed, and served our salads. The ceasar was incredibly balanced, just the right amounts of ingredients to balance the anchovie, dressing base, croutons, and cheese. Definitely one of the best tabkeside prepared ceasar salads I have had to date. Top three for certain. The steak came shortly after we finished our salads. No bringing entrees mid course here. The steak was prepared medium and topped with a bernaise sauce. The steak was expertly cooked and pared well with the sauce. The cheesy potatoes side was an expert pairing. I enjoyed a glass of "The Prisoner" with my meal. It is a bold and fluid red blend with a hint of fruit with a cherry pop. An excellent selection from Napa Valley and I'm already planning on buying a few bottles when I get home. The strawberry sorbet here is very good and they serve it dipped in chocolate and chocolate drizzle. It was fresh, tasted of real strawberry, and the chocolate it was rolled in was of a very fine taste and quality. I highly suggest a visit here when you are town or for a local looking for something incredibly special. read more

Started not great but ended up being fantastic. Ambience is a rare find these days, particularly in Denver. Attentive waitress. Our waters were always full. Japanese bread for the table was outstanding. Ravioli starter was yummy but a bit cold, although unsure if that was intentional with the unique way it's served? The entrees were filling. Caicio e Pepe and pork belly were delicious. Our only complaint was lack of a hostess or anyone to seat us for several minutes. Palace Arms, located in the iconic Brown Palace Hotel opened it's doors in April of 1950. Following a 15 month closure, Palace Arms has now reopened - fully refreshed & renovated - as of May 2021! We were seated in the main dining room & were encompassed by grandeur. The aesthetic of Palace Arms still embodies the Naploeonic era with historical artifacts and paintings throughout; however, the experience is now elevated with all new furniture, light fixtures & chandeliers (& I love myself a good chandelier!). Palace Arms' menu has also been totally reimagined with new Executive Chef, Kim Moyle (the Brown Palace's first ever female executive chef!) spearheading in the kitchen. Kim came out and introduced herself and we could really feel her joie de vivre for her profession and Palace Arm's new locally sourced, farm fresh menu. Service at Palace Arms was effortless and elegant. Keith our server has been with the Brown Palace for 7 years and that kind of tenure is invaluable in the restaurant industry. Keith knew the hotel and restaurant inside and out. You can always expect the most knowledgeable, poised and courteous staff whenever visiting Brown Palace. Our meal started with Palace Arms' bread board which was exceptional. The herbal tea ricotta cream cheese for dipping was Chef Kim's innovativeness right off the bat & we would see this creativity throughout the entire meal. For Cocktails we had the Bee's Knees and the Aviation. The Bee's Knees is made with Bombay Sapphire Gin, BP Honey, and Lemon. The Bee's Knees was SO refreshing. It was a sweet cocktail with a subtle sourness from the gin and lemon. This was Kali and I's favorite cocktail of the night! The Aviation is made with Tanqueray Gin, Crème de Violette, Maraschino Liqueur, and Lemon. This was a powerful cocktail that was citrusy with notes of herbs and flowers with a beautiful purple color to it. We started with the Caviared Eggs, Palace Arms Caesar and the Surf and Turf Carpaccio. The Caviared Eggs are made with sour cream, egg yolk, herbs, caviar, and shallot bacon jam. The Caviared Eggs were immediately recommended by Chef Kim and Keith and we can see why; this appetizer blew us away! The Caviared Eggs eggs took deviled eggs to a new level of excellence - they delivered a gentle and pleasing taste that was both salty and savory with a sinfully creamy consistency. The caviar added an air of luxury and burst of visual excitement to the eggs. The shallot bacon jam added incredible texture variation to this appetizer and was tangy and sweet. The Caviared Eggs are a must order when visiting Palace Arms! The Palace Arms Caesar is a traditional salad prepared tableside. That's right, a Caesar prepared tableside IN downtown Denver! This was a good Caesar salad and we loved the tableside theater of Keith making it. The salad had a good balance of salty, earth and bright flavors. The Surf and Turf Carpaccio is made with fitch filet, hamachi, yuzu zest vinaigrette, black garlic aioli, and pickled chilies. This was an eye-catching appetizer that was a creative outside-of-the-box carpaccio that combined filet and hamachi. I had never seen this combination before and the amalgamation of meat and light fish flavors were wonderful. The bread that accompanied the Carpaccio had a great crunch and the black garlic aioli atop the bread was breathtakingly pungent with hints of sweet molasses flavor. For Entrées we had the Chilean Sea Bass and the 5oz Ribeye Cap. The Chilean Sea Bass is made with black truffle potato porridge, king crab cake, and sea lettuce dust. YES. Just look at that Sea Bass! The second Keith sat this entrée down our mouths were watering. The Sea Bass was an absolute beauty - a tall, nice white firm filet that smelled of the ocean. The Sea Bass had a delicate and sweet flavor and the flesh flaked right off in medium pieces that were oh so moist, buttery and tender. The Bass combined with the king crabcake was brilliant. The king crab cake had a resilient salty flavor that complemented the bass' lightness. The 5oz Ribeye Cap is served with Seasonal vegetables, Griffin potatoes and a demi glace. We added the enhancement of Shaved Summer Truffles. Palace Arms presents their cuts of meat differently than any other restaurant we've seen as they remove any bone, gristle and fat before serving. This was nice as we were easily able to cut through our 5oz Ribeye Cap and immediately start eating. The Ribeye Cap was cooked perfectly - medium rare and had a robust meaty flavor to it. The demi glace was nice and velvety and had a sweet, just simmered taste. The Griffin potatoes were unreal! For dessert, we had the Walnut Flourless Cake and the Banana Mousse - the presentation of each was stunning. The Walnut Flourless Chocolate Cake is made with valpolicella, roasted grapes, and chile spiced nuts. The Walnut Flourless Chocolate Cake was luciously moist & decadent. The Palace Arms is a "must do" in Denver. The food and service are phenomenal. We were greeted and seated by Jackie. She is a Treasure. She gives you the exact right amount of social interface. Our Server was Mariah, on a scale of 1-10 She is a 20! Her suggestions of food and beverage provided us with the tight insight to order the most delicious dinner you can imagine. For appetizers we ordered the Mushroom Tart and the Caviared Eggs. The plating and taste were awesome. For the entree we ordered the Scallops and the Duck Breast, again it was awesome. We paired the Big Table Farm Pinot served in Riedel Pinot Glasses and it too was over the top. Through our dinner we were greeted by the Manager Izzy who shared with us the Story of the Palace Arms and what the restaurant is doing as we come back from Covid and staying at home. From the old wood paneling from yesteryear to the quiet enjoyment of the multi-course meal, my wife and I were unhurried and enjoyed a great Manhattan to start and 20 year Port to wrap up. Doesn't look like much from the outside but there's tons of history inside. A very classy place, food was delicious . It all started with their beet bread and hibiscus butter, OMG . You could honestly go here just for this bread. Hopefully they keep it on the menu FOREVER. I then got myself a pear salad with goat cheese that had a champagne vinaigrette, it was very very YUM. I can't remember my entree but that's a good sign because I probably devoured it like everything else. I ended with creme brûlée and an expresso, again it was spot on my taste buds were in HEAVEN. This is the most amazing wedding reception location you can choose in Denver Metro. I got married there in 2003. They have the BEST CAKEMAKER in the world. My marriage lasted 20 years until my spouse died. To this day, I am 47 now, this was the Best Wedding Cake I had ever tasted. Ever. German custard cream on the champagne biscuit layers, with the raspberry & white chocolate bavarian cream filling. I asked for "white pearls" & "square" design, with one layer being chocolate & one vanilla. They did exactly what I asked for. We had Duck Breast as the main course. It was perfect. So for our anniversary, we stayed at the Brown Palace and this restaurant is in the hotel and keeps to the theme (British) with a pretty nice feel to it. Our waiter, Ryan (request him, he was awesome) was really great about the whole experience. Good recommendations, prompt food and service. I'd come back, just to have him as a waiter. The food was mostly good. We started with the Cesar Salad (made tableside from scratch) and that was very impressive and flavorful. The drinks were almost perfect, very enjoyable and paired well with the meal as a whole. Our main course was where it fell short. I opted for the tenderloin (warning - priced per ounce) and the wife went with the halibut. both were dry and bland, my tenderloin steak even teetered on overcooked. Now, having traveled to London, English food is fairly bland to my American tastebuds anyway, but I did hope for something better here. Sadly, neither dish was something that made me want more. Aside from the mains, I do suggest the crab cakes and if you can spare the $$, the white sturgeon caviar was on point. Overall, Ryan made this a great visit in the end. While we did skip dessert, he brought us a cheesecake anyway for our anniversary and it made the night end on a high note. I see no reason for the recent negative reviews of this fine old Denver dining establishment. Went there this evening with friends who we dine out often with. The service was excellent; the food was good. The pork loins were tougher than expected. The caesar salad tableside was excellent. The scallops were great. The atmosphere is enjoyable. This is the premier dining establishment in the oldest hotel in Denver; you pay for the experience. read more

We are visiting in town for a work conference and made reservations here. It has a very old decor, which was expected. We waited a long time for our waiter to approach us for our order. It seemed as he was the only one serving and attending to all tables... we ordered the deviled eggs. They were good, served with like a candied bacon. We also had the scallops and sea bass which were also good, but not great. However we ordered a side of the griffin potatoes which had NO potatoes... all cheese.. a soupy cheese. It was horrible. Our experience here was just meh... I don't recommend this place for date night. If your looking for an extensive wine list with old vintages, this is the place! Only positive thing I have to add. The new appointed sommelier recommended a delightful CDP. They seem to have a large mid 90's Port selection. So look out for upcoming Port events. read more

SAD what has happened to a great restaurant. DO NOT EAT HERE.We'd been coming each year for 20 years till 3 or 4 years ago and it was great. Terrific ceasar salad made at tableside and then a prime rib which we shared. And it was busy. Tonight we were the only 2 people in the room at 7:30 and 1 waiter. Salad no longer made at table. Roast beef no longer on the menu but our server (a terrific fellow) offered to get it from the Tavern (another restaurant in the hotel)...........and we took him up on it. Marriott has ruined this terrific hotel and this terrific restaurant. read more

From water service who poured backhand while talking to another table to bread service skipped for our table but not the neighboring tables which are inches away. An unbelieveable dining experience at Palace Arms earlier this week! I My co-worker and I both decided on the 'selection of four courses'. At a very modest $115 I had a nice sized helping of the following: Course 1: Risotto with butternut squash and other stuff I can't remember and less than a week later as already rotated off the menu. It was incredible though. So incredible this Elite Yelper didn't even get a picture. Just too yummy! Course 2: Tagliatelle (absolutely divine!) with shaved blackk truffle on top. Course 3: Salmon. The most interesting dish possibly on the menu. It was cooked in a very interesting way. Almost a pate consistency. It also was topped with uni (sea urchin), which is a very aquired taste. Liked all the previous courses better but this was still very, very well executed. Course 4: The sorbet flight. I let the chef pick the flavors. I was so stuffed from everything I else I only really sampled each of the three flavors. A nice touch to the meal were all the freebies.... a little pate appetizer, end of meal sea salt chocolates and lady fingers, etc. All amaizng right down to the bread selection and salted butter. Wine selection is lovely. I only had one glass of chardonny chablis. It was work dinner, otherwise I would have gone with a second! The service is impeccable. So much so that I was a little nervous I would break etiquette and make a wrong move with a fork or napkin! The staff is very friendly and welcoming, even polite when you lose your coat check ticket. My only suggestion is that there should be more non-dairy dessert options. The sorbet was my only option. I know ya'll can make something amazing with almond milk or applesauce! :) To top off all the enchantment of rich wood walls, dimly light tables and stately world flags, the wait staff gave me a red rose before we left. Since we did a trendy dinner on our first night in Denver, I wanted to go the more traditional route for dinner #2. Most of the Yelp reviews have it right. It's definitely a special occasion restaurant... it's a little old school... don't expect a quickie meal by any means. We opted NOT to do the prix fixe and instead ordered a la carte because honestly, it just sounded like so much food. I started with the artichoke soup and then had the veal saltimbocca for my entree. Both dishes were superb. I had never had saltimbocca before and am glad I gave it a try. It was a little too thick cut for my taste (for whatever reason I thought it was served pounded - my mistake) but the flavor was good. Impressive wine catalogue. We started with a California sparkling and then shared a California red. It's funny how we always tend to lean toward California wines... The real standout of the meal was when the chef came over to check on us... not once, but twice! Sometimes the chef comes to your table at other restaurants and it comes off a tad phony. Not here. Chef Thanawat Bates is a genuine guy, very friendly and the way he described the desserts to us... I'm surprised I didn't order all of them! The desserts are classics but deconstructed, if that makes any sense at all... for example, we ordered the key lime pie. It comes in a parfait dish. There is some crunch on the bottom which is warm but the filling is warm and cold at the same time. It was beyond amazing (see the picture). The service was impeccable. The ambiance is warm and comfortable. Dress up for sure! I loved the red rose I received at the end - nice touch for a special occasion (our 8th wedding anniversary). I wholeheartedly recommend Palace Arms for a special dinner... they definitely aim to please. read more
