I have been wanting to try this place and sad how much of a let down it was. Came in during lunch for a pick up order, fairly busy but not too long of a wait. For two people, ordered a set of 3 tacos (2x barbacoa and carnitas) and then another 3 tacos (asada, carnitas, and pastor), birria egg rolls, and a bean, cheese, and rice burrito. Not a big deal but they put all the tacos in one box and I was able to differentiate which 3 tacos that I ordered. This place is super stingy with salsa. They gave me 2 tiny containers for salsa and then when I asked for a couple more, the lady said she could only give me two more. :( Excited to try the food and started off great with a simple bean, cheese, and rice burrito but outside of that everything else was very meh. Not sure how but all the meats were so dry, I ordered braised/slow cooked meats (barbacoa and carnitas). Asada and pastor were okay as well. Was craving some birria and quick answer to satisfy that was Venalonzo's. We got the 10" Birria Pizza and Birria Egg Rolls. We placed the order online (via Toast), got a text confirmation it was ready for pick up, and went straight to the staff at the counter got our food. And even though this was a to-go order, food was still so fresh, egg rolls still crispy and cheese was still gooey. They also have updated their space since I was last there. Place was pretty small and busy on the inside, but service was quick and employees were nice. They also had a station with salsa, limes, peppers, etc. that was self-serve and was a huge perk. I had heard phenomenal things about their birria, so decided to get the birria pizza (so really just a quesabirria in a pizza box lol). The birria was tender and the consommé was the perfect consistency and flavor. I also thoroughly enjoyed the salsas that it came with, and they added a nice balance to the richness of the birria, along with the radishes and lime. I cannot wait to come back to Venalonzo's. The flavor, the food, and the options are not lacking at this spot. We heard that they won the best taco challenge last year and were in the area to visit family. I'm so glad that we made the drive to have their birria ramen and tacos. My goodness, this has to be one of the best, if not the best, birria consume in Colorado. We had a few family members with us so we opted for the birria pizza and were pleasantly surprised with the flavor and the taste. Not pictured, we also had horchata which was also great. I decided to try Venalonzos after hearing so many people rave about their birria tacos and even the birria pizza. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed. The food wasn't terrible, but it didn't live up to the hype.. just average at best. The guacamole was a major disappointment; it had an oddly herbaceous, earthy flavor that tasted more like parsley than cilantro, and I could barely recognize it as guac. The marinated onions had an overpowering oregano/Italian spice note that clashed completely with the Mexican flavors. It honestly felt like two different cuisines colliding in one dish. After sampling a Venalonzo's at previous events, I've been itching to visit their brick-and-mortar location, and being close to home, today was the day! This little spot is a hole in the wall, but a popular one at that! We arrived at 1pm to a line almost out the door! There is seating outside on the patio and inside, which we were able to snag (inside) to beat the 90-degree heat! The interior is quaint, filled with pops of color, Front and center upon arrival is the massive menu, featuring all of the goodness that's made in house. Everything from tacos, burritos, to nachos and chimichangas is offered - and the famed quesabirria tacos. We opted for the latter on our visit today (an order of 4 for $18), and OMG! The meat is so fresh, perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the ooey, gooey cheese was just right - along with the perfect grilled/frying on the outside. YUM. The consume was oily, but light and created the most perfect bite!! The carne asada fries are also delicious ;) The staff here, is truly amazing. SO kind, welcoming, friendly and has this spot running like a well-oiled machine! Cranking out meal after meal for hungry customers! This place always hits the spot and I'm so glad for the second much larger location in Parker with lots of seating and a bar. I always tend to get the taco plate with a chicken and al pastor taco. Both are always cooked and seasoned to perfection. The taco plate comes with just the right amount of food. The sauce/side bar has lots of additions you can dress your food up with. You order and pay at the counter before receiving your food and I've never waited more than 10 minutes to receive my food. I want to go back and try breakfast at some point. read more

On vacay looking for some good Mexican-ish food...since if you know anything about where I'm from we got none. Tried this place. I'm not a huge birria person, but always down to try. Pizza Supreme - just too much going on. I need more cheesey goodness. Not bad, just not my fave. Ribs - now this was goooood. Soft, with some crispy parts. Chile sauce was ono. Quesabirrias here rule! Got 3 of them. They were cheesy, flavorful, delicious, and filling! The quesabirrias are the menu item that you have to try! We also got the torta to try, but we got it without mayo, so I feel like it might not have been the best representation...the house marg was strong, but not super tasty otherwise. It's cute in here! I tried Venalonzo's for the first time a few weeks ago and have since been back four times and recommended it to essentially every person I've spoken to. Their quesabirria tacos are delicious, easily the best I've had in Denver. We also tried the Chilaquiles, quesabirria pizza, and hot wings. Everything we've had has been amazing. As for the pizza, only get it if you're planning to share or if you're incredibly hungry, it's massive. After trying Venalonzo's at several Yelp events, I finally made it in. This place gets super packed when it's lunchtime but it's worth the wait. The Birrira is one of the best that I have had in Colorado. It's full of flavors that hits your tastebuds. It doesn't feel like they cheapen you out on the meat quantity either. I ordered the trio for myself because it was that good. My mouth is watering as I think about it. I also ordered the asada fries and they were pretty bomb too. 4.5 stars. This place is POPPIN!! I stopped by on a drive down south because I saw it was highly rated, and I love Quesabirria. It was 3 for $14 so I ordered at the counter and managed to find a table to sit at. There's outdoor seating as well, with pretty quick customer turnover. The Quesabirria were incredible. So close to 5 stars but a few things that I couldn't ignore. Going to street tacos places is my passion. Finding the perfect street taco is a life goal especially birrea tacos. Nothing better than an incredible street taco. Venalonzo's is a great birrea taco place but a few critical thing that drops it to 4.5 stars. Pro: - I was shocked that the tortilla was perfectly cooked. Crispy but not burnt. One of the annoying things about birrea tacos is that I feel like I've changed the oil on my car after finishing them and have to wash my hands seven times. If you open a taco and can see the other side of the tortilla, there's a problem. - A little more cheese please? Besides my friends absolutely raving about Venalonzo's and how close it is to my apartment, I was officially won over after learning they had authentic birria tacos and curbside pickup. Yes, curbside pickup. For the homies who crave some authentic birria but want the luxury of someone bringing your food to you in your car because you're in your PJs and absolutely refuse to change, this place is HER. I ordered the birria tacos (obviously), three regular tacos (2 carne asada, 1 carnitas), and fries because I couldn't help myself. First off, the birria tacos were absolutely chef's kiss. Juicy, flavorful, dipped in that glimmering consommé like it was getting baptized. Only wish they gave a little more of that liquid gold, but shoutout to them for keeping it delicious and not a sodium bomb (the amount of times I've had consommé that tasted like beef-flavored ocean water is insane). The regular tacos were equally amazing. We forgot to ask for some sauce on the side, but fear not, we cracked open a packet of Taco Bell fire sauce and it was a crossover episode I didn't know I needed. Now the fries... bless their little potato hearts. They came out a little pale and underseasoned, like they'd just woken up from a nap, but nothing a little taco seasoning, salt, and a quick 6-minute spin in the air fryer at 360 couldn't fix. Basically turned them into gourmet home fries. Innovation at its finest (or maybe my big back couldn't be tamed). I was a little overwhelmed when we first got there as I wasn't really sure what to do, how to order if it was sit down or order and wait etc. the menu on the wall was extensive but we settled on street tacos (one of each) and the queso birria too. We each got a beer and they offered us frosty mugs- ABSOLUTELY- who doesn't LOVE a frosty mug! The Al pastor, chicken and the carnitas (and Barbacoa) were a RESOUNDING favorites but the birra was GREAT! After church we wanted something different and to see if we could find a decent taco place since my taco truck spot is closed on Sundays and after getting a taste of Venalonzo's at Roxy's I wanted hubby to try it! I ordered a mango margarita and it was completely undrinkable - it tasted like rubbing alcohol and I only managed 2 or 3 sips. I asked to instead have a cup of soda (and not be refunded for the drink) and was told that I couldn't, so I then asked if they could give me a refund for the mango margarita and was told they don't refund alcoholic drinks. My sister also was charged for an item she didn't order and was told they could not do a refund because the owner wasn't present and we'd have to call back.
