Fivestars gave me a buy 1, get 50% off deal, so we decided to try Sharetea for the first time. We got a Classic Pearl Milk Tea (30% sweet) and an Oreo Blended Ice w/Pearl (30% sweet). The Classic Pearl was so disappointing - even though it was 30% sweet there was no hint of creaminess whatsoever. The Oreo Blended was fairly good (the pearls are just ok), can't imagine how overly sweet the 100% would be. Meh. I came in here at 9 pm on Friday with a friend. Since this is in a mall, generally parking is a headache to find. However at the time we came, parking was very easy to find. It wasn't crowded at all. Noise level was quiet. I ordered the Passion fruit, orange and grapefruit tea with 50% sweetness: 5/5 They made the drink super fast. It was very tarty. I loved the flavor. Taking only 45 mins to charge I went over to Sharetea with my roommate to get some boba tea. In the past I have seem long lines but there was only two people in front of me. I ordered the mango green tea with lychee jelly and only 30% sweetness. I must admit the tea was just about perfect and refreshing. This is my go-to tea store whenever I find myself browsing in the mall for more than an hour or so. With so much work that my feet have done perusing through the shops and new section now of the mall, I always have to reward myself with a drink from here. The consistancy of their drinks seem to be on par and I've never had any complaints except for one situation in where the boba pearls I found were too hard. I believe they just came-out from the boiler and perhaps they weren't cooked long enough to soften them to the right texture. Other than that, you can't go wrong with Aiyu Jelly which is my favorite. I usually have it in all the drinks that I order (Okinawa Pearl, Hokkaido, Hawaii Fruit Tea). Both milk/fruit teas, I always add the Aiyu Jelly. I will not leave the store without this. As for the customer service, the girls here are friendly and the drinks are ready without too much of a wait because the malls are not at full capacity because of the pandemic. Pre-pandemic, the line could be long and the wait maybe twice as long. You can't blame them, they're popular and happen to be in the general food court area so they see lots of food traffic. You can order ahead of time by using their app. I wish I can find the link though on their website instead of having to walk up to the store itself and scan the barcode on their advertisement poster. read more

I made the order online since I had to complete a little shopping first. I prefer to just come, pick up and leave. When picking up online orders, you don't have to stand in line. You can just pick it up directly at the corner where people are picking up their drinks. Sometimes I notice that the area can be filled with a lot of people, this happens when it's busy. I've been passing by this ShareTea branch for years, but never had the desire to try, since the franchises are everywhere, and this being inside of a high rent mall, prices are a bit on the expensive side. However, on Thanksgiving Day 2019, I was out perusing the retail madness with my parents, and after a few hours, mom was interested in grabbing some refreshments. With all the choices in this mall, which is turning more Asian by the day, ShareTea was actually last on our list. We first cruised by Lucky Tea, then CoCo, and finally Rabbit Rabbit, and all had lines that put the tent city outside of Best Buy to shame. On a whim, we decided to stroll past ShareTea figuring it would be much of the same, but gosh darn it... no line whatsoever! Our decision had been made. Honestly, we weren't expecting anything spectacular, but as long as it was passable, we'd be fine. Much to our surprise, it wasn't bad at all! Mom and dad both enjoyed their taro milk tea (no ice, 1/4 sugar) and jasmine milk tea (light ice, no sugar), while I was quite pleased with my honey milk tea (no ice). The best thing about this shop vs. the other aforementioned is that there is ample seating, which is perfect for laptop camping or relaxing after a long shopping session! Even though it is inside of the mall, instead of being a kiosk like the others, it is basically like a standalone café you'd find on the street, albeit a rather condensed one. Perhaps when holiday season is over, I might give some of the other boba establishments in Valley Fair a try, but in the meantime, ShareTea more than fits the bill. Sharetea makes the drinks quickly, the lines move fairly fast, there's a cute thing to take pictures at with your tea if you're into that kind of thing (I totally am). It's a sweet escape from the children's store row of this mall (if you've been to this Westfield you probably know what I'm referring to). My only issue with Sharetea (not just this location) is consistency. Sometimes 50% sweet is perfect, sometimes 30% sweet is perfect...sometimes it's WAY too much milk and tastes just like milk (I always order oolong milk tea or black milk tea). They give wayyyy too much boba (quantity-wise) and not enough of the drink. The boba was definitely old, because they were stuck together in a big mass. They wouldn't go through even the big boba straws and we ended up having to stab the clump of old boba repeatedly until individual bobas loosened a little. If you must order the pearls from here, check to see if it's fresh. Most boba places will have an hour limit on how long each batch can be served. I was a really big Sharetea fan and every time I come to Westfield Valley Fair, I always stop by to grab some drinks. However, my last interaction at this Sharetea location is making me reconsider coming here again. Context: I got a free drink on Fivestars about a year ago and I never redeemed it until recently. Since I thought points don't expire, I wasn't in a rush to use up my free drink offer. Come to find out, they actually up-ed the points to get a free drink so instead of 80 points = free drink, it increased so my points were insufficient & I ended up settling for the 50% off one drink offer. To be fair, I had no warnings prior that this would happen. To redeem my offer, I had to go up to the cashier since they only had 2 self-serve kiosks. She was a bit impatient and not as friendly. Customer service aside, the drink was not filled all the way and they ran out regular cups with Sharetea logo. Overall, I'm quite disappointed with the way things are run when Sharetea used to be my favorite go to boba spot. ShareTea gives you your money's worth! SPECIAL NOTE: They offer non dairy milk teas, so don't worry about lactose intolerance lol. For fresh milks only, they offer to change the default option of whole milk to almond or soy! Super awesome! Sad to say, other bubble tea store, or Rabbit Rabbit Tea, in this case, has been a downfall and can't keep up with consistency. I've been coming to ShareTea and they never let me down. If anything, they're willing to remake the beverage altogether! They don't surprise you with bland drinks and icky toppings like Rabbit does. Rabbit doesn't even apologize for their inconvenience and has rude staff that won't even fix the drink you paid for! What boba place does that? Anyways, lets talk about ShareTea: Drinks: soooo delicious! You have the choice of adjusting your sweetness and ice levels. I usually LOVE ShareTea (esp. the one in San Leandro Greenhouse Plaza!), but no! This one's got a lot of work to do! Ok I get that this ShareTea literally JUST opened up a couple of days ago, but my experience today just made me think that they were NOT ready to open! Located on the first floor of Valley Fair, directly across from Din Tai Fung, ShareTea is a bright tea shop serving fan favorites from fresh taro milk tea, to coffee creama. The girl who helped me was real nice! But then there's the bad stuff... Several (albeit nitpicky) Things: 1. I noticed one of the workers non-chalantly drinking her tea at the front of the store like it was no big deal... pero lyke, go in the back if you're gonna have a drink break! Even if you are working at ~just~ a tea shop, it doesn't look professional. 2. At one point I saw all 3 workers standing behind the cashier trying to figure something out. Not only that, but the manager was there also. I believe they were helping the woman in front of us regarding how some drinks don't allow for adjustments. Did that really need ALL of your staff to be at the register? They could totally be making use of their time standing there by getting the next person's order ready... I mean, a rather huge line started forming behind me during this situation. 3. The manager is a young-lookin' dude who definitely LOOKED like he was hard at work. I watched him randomly Windex the counter right by the register, meanwhile totally ignoring an abandoned table that was trashed with napkins... -__- 4. I ordered a Wintermelon tea creama - less ice, 30% sweet. Why is it that when I sipped my drink, all I could taste was sweet? My co-worker tried it and said he was surprised that his green fresh milk tea (aka not so green...) tasted less sweet than mine, and he ordered with 80% sweetness! I've been nursing my drink in the tiniest sips for the past hour because it's so cloyingly sweet. 5. I was about to give this place 2 stars, when I remembered they charged me almost $6 for a standard cup of tea. Look, I get you're in a premium location in an upscale mall, but if you're gonna charge almost 200% more ($5.75!) than at other ShareTeas, it'd be appreciated if my drink was made CORRECTLY! My 300th review! Well, I've written a lot more than 300, but occasionally reviews mysteriously disappear. Content filters, that policy where Yelp would never delete a review, who knows what happens to them. I just hope I can produce at a pace that stays ahead of it. Founded in Taiwan in the 1990's and spreading it's love worldwide ever since, with many locations throughout the Bay Area, Sharetea is by far my favorite bubble tea shop. I'm not a connoisseur by any stretch, and I know they have a reputation for being way too sweet for some palettes, but I like it. I love sweet, fruity drinks, especially on a hot day. It's one of my many weaknesses. So for me Sharetea hits the spot. I sometimes go to the one next to Bonchon in Sunnyvale, but most of the time I visit the one at Westfield Valley Fair in West Santa Clara. I was even the Duke of this location for a minute. I have tried so many things on their menu. I generally like their cold drinks, but have sometimes tried to get my milk tea hot. Unfortunately they can't make them very hot. They also forget to make them hot occasionally and have to remake the drink or I have to accept the cold version. This is my only real complaint with this location. The line can be mega, but there's a hack for this. You're in the mall getting your shop on, right? Well, when you get that little ping in your brain saying you may be thirsty soon, just fire up the Yelp app and order your drink for pickup. Then saunter on over there at pickup time and grab your drink, skipping the line. It works well. It's part of why I like this location so much. Boba without the wait. Even though I like sweet drinks I never go above 30% sweet and there are some things, like Ginger Milk tea with pearls at 0% sweet. The pearls add enough sweetness to many of the milk tea drinks as long as you don't choose black tea. There is a machine on the back counter which dispenses the sugar into the drinks. The Cane-O-Matic 9000 dumps a heap of the white stuff into each cup with the push of a button. Man, that's a lot of shugga. When they say 30% sweet does that mean 30% of your cup is sugar? Sure looks like it. No, the machine is probably not called the Cane-O-Matic. I've been hooked on their ice cream blended drinks lately. Don't know why. I'm sure I'll move on to something else soon. Her attitude was so bad that I really wanted to just throw my money at her face (okay so maybe I wouldn't do that, but you know what I mean).
