I like the environment here. It's dark so it feels like a night club with modern hip-hop and R&B playing in the background. The drinks also each have cool names. Again, we're exploring San Jose for boba spot as I'm not a little further south for work. But I've been wanting to try Pekoe (though I think we tried it once before at a different location...maybe), so we went ahead and tried it. In short, the boba as hard, the drinks were interesting but don't think we'll be coming back. L O C A T I O N Pekoe is located in a small plaza with dedicated parking that's shared with the other establishments. I did easily find parking but I could imagine it being hard to find parking during peak times. I N S I D E There are some seating areas which is nice. But it was pretty dead and basically a kiosk to order your drinks. No one was at the front as I'm sure they were in the back making the drinks. M E N U They had a variety of drinks with some special naming conventions. The drinks start at $6.50 and you can do a split cup so you can try more than one drink but it will cost a dollar more. But primarily drinks are milk teas and fruit teas. I kind of wish they just had standard milk teas and you can add your own toppings. Maybe there was a way to do this but nothing stood out when I was ordering at the kiosk. I got a Black Dragon which was an oolong with grass jelly and my hubby got the Foxy Brown which was a brown sugar milk tea with honey black boba. I got to taste his boba and it was so hard. He was like, maybe it's al dente...no this was not cooked thoroughly. My drink tasted chocolatey which I didn't mind. It was an interesting oolong taste profile. The grass jelly was fine. Came here today for the first time. I had a large order for my team at work and we were able to order ahead online. It was close by and they had all our drinks ready by the pickup time which was 10mins after we placed the order. They were out of two of the drinks and called me to select substitutes. I orderes the French chicks coffee drink and it was pretty good. I wish it was a little stranger but I would order it again. All 13 drinks were correct and it was packed up well. My favorite drinks from Pekoe are always Manly Melons and Pretty In Pink. My decision on which to get depends on if I'm going for just a tea, or something with milk that day. I personally don't like going for the split cup because I feel like it's not worth it. Make sure to point out if you want to adjust ice or sweetness, because.. the service is meh. The staff doesn't seem to ask and default to 100% sweet, extra ice. Service is quick but the staff definitely do not seem like they like their jobs. There's a decent amount of seating inside but small, with loud music playing so I wouldn't say much of a place to hang out. Haven't had Pekoe in a long time! Didn't realize there was one in this plaza (sharing same parking as King Eggroll). I ordered my usual drink at other boba shops. Passion fruit green tea, with boba, and half sugar. $6.50 + $0.95 for boba...definitely on the pricier side. All in all, good drink...but for the value, I might look to go elsewhere. Whenever I'm in the area I always come to Pekoe to grab my dose of boba. I love their flavors and the various unique names they have for each drink. I usually get the kawaii and add on some extra toppings. Service here is usually quick which is why I love coming here. The quality of their toppings are usually fresh and I can easily change my sweetness here. Lots of seating inside so if you have a big group there's a chance you can sit down. The ambience is very chill which is nice and I like that it's usually pretty clean inside. Recommend coming to Pekoe and trying out their boba if you can! read more

Pekoe definitely has been in my rotations whenever I'm craving boba. I haven't had it in almost a year but when I did get, the consistency is the same! I got the white winter and it has the perfect amount of sweetness. I got my dad the Thai tea whities (funny name), and my boyfriend got the taro which we both didn't like 1/5.. it really didn't taste like taro.. other then that drink which we won't get again the other ones are great. Loved how toppings were included in the price, especially the little heart jellies! I used to come here a lot before the pandemic and I must have gotten hundreds of drinks here over the years. I have always gotten the Just Dew it half sweet. It used to be perfect and consistent, but lately the quality has gone downhill. I got one today and it was overly sweet. The last time I was here was about a month ago and the half sweet wasn't sweet enough. I think it's still enjoyable, but you just never know what you're going to get. It's always so dark, with super loud music and no one is there. We came in on a Saturday afternoon and the place was empty. I wondered if they were even open. The music was on full blast so okay there must be someone in here. We ordered via kiosk after browsing over a busy menu (funny names!), and waited for our drinks. Hopeful someone (or something) is making them. I guess with the later hours, the boba places had a lot of people there hanging out, but service was efficient enough and there was only 1 other person ahead of us. Staff is friendly and they also have an iPad to order on so you could take more time to look at what they have. I could not decide which of their fruit teas I wanted to order, but I found out that they have cups that are split in half, so you can get two flavors - very smart to cater to people who can't really decide between flavors. I ordered the Manly Melons and Mario and Lui-ychee, and I absolutely loved them. I liked the addition of lychee bits on the Mario and Lui-ychee drink - definitely added more authentic flavor and texture compared to traditional lychee jellies and boba. The Manly Melons were very interesting with the mix of various fruits - watermelon, lychee, mango, and strawberry - which provided a delightful and refreshing taste. The store is quite small, and this place is very popular, so you'll find yourself waiting in line during peak hours - also likely a longer wait for your drinks to be made. I tried to get 75% sweetness-- I don't know why, because I usually ask for 50% sweetness when I order boba-- but my server told me they only do 100% and 50% and 25%(?) at Pekoe. I asked for 50% and my drink came out way too sweet. It is possible that the server felt bad I couldn't get 75% so they tried to secretly DIY it for me... which I appreciate, but never again please... Not a fan. I've heard about Pekoe for years and finally got to try it. This location is cute, easy to park at, and has high tables if you wanted to dine in. The staff is also nice and it's a very clean space where music is playing and you don't need to ask the staff what song is playing because the tvs lets you know. Haha. They have many fruit tea and milk tea options and one of the best parts about pekoe (and what would prompt me to return) is the split cup. If you're indecisive, this is a win because you can get (almost) whatever your heart desires. I say almost because I believe there are some drinks you can't get in there. One thing I would warn though is that while customizable, the drinks were a bit sweet for me. I got half sweet but since many of the fruit teas come with jellies (that I think are in a syrup before they are put into orders) that would increase the sweetness regardless. Pekoe is by far my favorite bubble tea place in the bay area. And now they have 3 locations! This is a convenient one for me whenever I'm back in the bay. It's a really hype place with bright colors, pristinely clean shop and cute lounge area. The staff here is always so friendly and so quick with the drinks. The names of the different drinks are all so fun and creative. LOTS of different flavors and styles and they're all good! Some of my favorites are...Pretty in Pink, Thai Tea Whities, Manly Melons, and Kawaii. The teas are all so sweet and refreshing. And you can also customize it. Another great perk is the option for a split cup so you can have two different styles with one cup! One minor downside is that their cup sealant machine sometimes malfunctions so they have to substitute the tops with lids, which isn't as secure. That's more of a technical complaint, but all in all, Pekoe is definitely a five-star business. read more

What a great find! I've only been to the other Pekoe location in Evergreen many years ago. I'm glad there is this location closer to my house. I ordered their signature Pretty in Pink drink - half sweet and less ice. Usually, I order 70-80% sweet when I get boba, and I found half sweet at this location to be just right. This drink was so good! I love strawberry, and I love strong tea flavors. There is something about this drink that just hit the spot. I also love how they have strawberry heart toppings with the boba pearls in here. It is a small touch but adds some nice character to the drink. I ordered 3 drinks with my sister, and they came out promptly. I personally was not a fan of the seating here, as the benches were high and the ridges in them made sitting uncomfortable. However, maybe this shop is intended to be more of a grab-and-go place. One of our drinks was not sealed completely, so my sister spilled some of it when shaking it at home. Overall, though, the drinks here were really good, and I hope to try their other flavors in the future! read more
