Very solid spot for some afternoon tea! I tried the strawberry matcha latte. The matcha was high quality, and very good on its own. However, once mixed in with the strawberry puree and oat milk, the strawberry puree did mask the matcha flavor. However, it was still a good and yummy drink! The strawberry puree tasted unique too, but I don't know how to put the taste into words so you're just gonna have to try it for yourself :)) We also tried the genmaicha tea, and it tasted like faan ziu to me, but I love faan ziu so I liked it! As someone who's not a fan of single-use plastics and prefers glass, it's great to see them rewarding customers for bringing their own cups. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately it fell short for me -- the matcha here is only served with oat milk, I was told there is no option to get regular milk. I personally do not like oat milk so this factor already prevented me from enjoying my drink I ordered a matcha with cream top and even though they seem to use good quality matcha, the matcha flavor itself wasn't very strong so the drink tasted very watered down I do like the concept of them being more eco-friendly but the hassle of bringing my own cup to avoid the upcharge, in addition to the slow service and oat milk only option is discouraging me from wanting to visit again read more

When we arrived, we weren't quite sure where the line for ordering was as there was 1 party of about 5 people all crowded at the ordering counter and two ways to get to the counter - one right next to some booths, and another right through a narrow walkway (which is about wide enough for one person). I had my pallet set on the Tabby Latte, but I got to the counter and saw that they had a special Winter menu. I was so tempted by it because they had some chocolate drink (wish I could remember it) which sounded amazing, but I was really in the mood for the warmth of some cinnamon, so I stuck to my original plan and ordered the Tabby Latte, 25% sweet, hot, and in my own cup. No regrets! They brought our drinks to our table when they were ready and I could smell the cinnamon-ey goodness. It was exactly what I expected and hit the spot. Hidden gem located in the JoyHeart Cafe. This place is super close to home, but I've never had the chance to try it until recently. They have a variety of matcha options available to order. I went with a Hojicha Matcha Latte, which was a perfect blend of both. Please note that they have a zero-waste policy, so they don't offer plastic take-out cups here. You have the option to dine-in at no additional cost, or you can bring/buy your own cup or borrow one of theirs for a cost (which is refundable when you come back and return it). Came here on a Sunday afternoon. As other reviews have pointed out, the cafe is inside a vegan supermarket. There appears to be another cafe within the supermarket that serves food, but they all share the same seating area. When you enter the building, the Orange Tabby is located on the right, while the other cafe is located on the left and the supermarket in the back. There was no line, so there was no wait to order. There were different types of matcha drinks you can order. I got the house matcha latte and my boyfriend got the reserve matcha latte. You are encouraged to bring your own drink container (which gives you a discount!) or you can buy one if you want to drink it to go, or you can use their glass cups for dine in. The drinks came out quickly, and tasted really nice! The matcha flavor was really strong, although there was not much of a difference between the reserve and the house matcha other than the price. They also use non dairy milk since it is a vegan cafe. Once we were done with our drinks, we brought our empty cups to the front as we didn't see a place to deposit them. I ordered the reserve matcha latte with premium blend and oat milk & 75% sweetness. The matcha drink itself exceeds expectations. It was very smooth and chilled to the right temperature. I could've probably lowered the sweetness some more as it was a tad sweet for me. I ordered ahead for pickup on a Saturday afternoon and it was ready in under 15 minutes. Probably one of the better matcha places that I've tried in Bay Area! However, they charge for takeout containers. +$2 for a mason jar or +$4 for a bamboo lid glass cup. You can bring your own cup for no charge but you wouldn't be able to order ahead. You can also have the drink for here inside the cafe for no additional charge. I understand that the cafe is trying to promote zero waste but it makes it difficult for customers who want a quick grab and go. The staff was friendly tho and there was a small snack market inside. The drink was good! Its super cute and very aesthetic. The matcha color was nice and green and the taste is very earthy. I wish the matcha was a bit stronger though but thats just my personal preference! The drinks counter is towards the back of the cafe and it feels a bit awkward looking around at first, but the service was great and the person running the shop was super friendly! I love how this is a cafe-restaurant-store combination. The whole place feels super lively and I really loved the ambiance. Next time I'll probably come to get a drink and relax or do some more shopping for taiwanese goodies here! read more
