Amazing service and great quality matcha! My co workers and I don't work too far so we drove down one day during lunch time and shockingly we were the only ones there. Orange Tabby is located in Joyheart cafe which also has a restaurant and convenient store located inside of it. The ambience is cute and the employees are very nice. While waiting for my drink, I walked around the little convenient store area and even bought a very delicious jam. We all ended up getting the strawberry matcha and it was amazing! Beware, if you are ordering to go you either have to bring your own cup or buy a mason jar or glass jar with a lid, which is another $2-$4 more. I opted for the mason jar as I can reuse it at home and bring it back for a discount on my next purchase. When we arrived, we weren't quite sure where the line for ordering was as there was 1 party of about 5 people all crowded at the ordering counter and two ways to get to the counter - one right next to some booths, and another right through a narrow walkway (which is about wide enough for one person). I had my pallet set on the Tabby Latte, but I got to the counter and saw that they had a special Winter menu. I was so tempted by it because they had some chocolate drink (wish I could remember it) which sounded amazing, but I was really in the mood for the warmth of some cinnamon, so I stuck to my original plan and ordered the Tabby Latte, 25% sweet, hot, and in my own cup. No regrets! They brought our drinks to our table when they were ready and I could smell the cinnamon-ey goodness. It was exactly what I expected and hit the spot. Came here on a Sunday afternoon. As other reviews have pointed out, the cafe is inside a vegan supermarket. There appears to be another cafe within the supermarket that serves food, but they all share the same seating area. When you enter the building, the Orange Tabby is located on the right, while the other cafe is located on the left and the supermarket in the back. There was no line, so there was no wait to order. There were different types of matcha drinks you can order. I got the house matcha latte and my boyfriend got the reserve matcha latte. You are encouraged to bring your own drink container (which gives you a discount!) or you can buy one if you want to drink it to go, or you can use their glass cups for dine in. The drinks came out quickly, and tasted really nice! The matcha flavor was really strong, although there was not much of a difference between the reserve and the house matcha other than the price. They also use non dairy milk since it is a vegan cafe. Once we were done with our drinks, we brought our empty cups to the front as we didn't see a place to deposit them. The Orange Tabby is a hidden gem cafe with actual Japanese quality matcha that I think surpasses many of the other hyped up spots in the South Bay. Tucked discreetly inside JoyHeart Cafe and a Taiwanese Buddhist Market, this little known cafe serves up freshly whisked matcha and Hojicha drinks that are crafted from actual matcha and Hojicha powder from Japan. We tried the Strawberry Matcha, and both the regular Matcha Einspanner and Premium Matcha Einspanner, and every drink was well-crafted, with a thoroughly whisked matcha base with no clumps and perfectly not too sweet cream top or strawberry milk. Since the business is Buddhist, they only use plant-based milks (oat, almond, soy) with no extra surcharge, which my lactose intolerance self really appreciated. Bring your own glass or buy the jars there for I think $2-$4 more depending on what option you choose. The cafe is in this space with another cafe and supermarket. Service was nice and it took a bit on the longer side. That was fine since we could wander in the supermarket. With how popular matcha got, I couldn't help but follow the trends and try local places. The matcha is good and you can tell they use quality. It was a good matcha, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back. Plus side is there's plenty of parking. read more
