Matcha cafe Maiko is an absolute must visit. This little gem inside the mall elevates what could have been just another dessert kiosk into a destination for matcha lovers and dessert aficionados alike. Ordered ube and matcha soft serve. Tried this place a few years ago when I lived in Vegas. I'm glad we have it here now. Everything you order will be good. Service is good. They do get busy. Some days they don't have a line. They have a cute set up. When I'm shopping at the mall, I stop by before I leave. Drinks are refreshing and I like to try different options.
Came here to try out their parfait since we have been looking for ones similar to ones we had in Kyoto and hadn't had much luck in finding good ones. This one is definitely a journey since it's in the mall and the parking here is such a cluster having to navigate into the mall parking itself and then fighting people for parking spots. Once you get here, it took us some time to find it since it was showing as being on the first floor but it's located on the second floor near Nordstroms. It's a stand so no real seating around, which also makes it a challenge. They have a rope up to guide people where to stand and it went relatively quick, about 10 min wait for 8 people ahead of us and then another 5-10 mins for the food to come out. Ordered the strawberry sundae and the Maiko special parfait. The sundae was alright, a bit sweet for our tastes but fits more the American pallet well. It sorta reminds me of the McD sundaes. For the Maiko parfait, you get a choice of Vanilla, Matcha, Vanilla/Matcha swirl, black sesame, (forgot the name but it's a rice flavored ice cream), and then a mix of the two. It was too bad that you couldn't mix black sesame with matcha or some other combination but I get that is just how the machines are setup. The parfait has a lot of ingredients and gives some nice textures and while it was pretty good, it still doesn't live up to what we had in Japan but I guess it will have to do until we can make it back!
I tried the Vanilla Matcha Soft Serve at the Westfield Mall, and it was actually really good! It wasn't busy when I went which is probably because it was almost closing time, regardless the soft serve still tasted good! The matcha flavor was strong in a good way, and the ice cream was rich and creamy. They even added matcha powder on top, which was a nice touch. Overall, really solid ice cream for a soft serve!
This little matcha cafe has always piqued my interest, and I finally got to try it the other day. We were at Valley Fair on a stormy Monday, so there was zero line. I can definitely imagine it being busy on a weekend, but it was a nice chill afternoon. This review is only for the matcha latte as I have yet to try the soft serve. I went with a classic strawberry matcha latte in the large size. There were a few staff members working on various tasks around the kiosk, so my drink was out in no time. There was a lovely layer of fresh strawberry purée on the bottom, which I made sure to mix thoroughly before enjoying my drink. My matcha was well-balanced without being overly sweet from the purée or bitter from the matcha. I'm not a big matcha snob as some of my other friends are, but I was definitely pleased with the quality of the matcha here. The level of ice was perfect for the drink, especially as you cannot customize it here like you can at boba shops. I ended up sipping my matcha throughout the afternoon and it lasted me a good while. I'd love to try the soft serve the next time we visit Valley Fair as it seems super popular!
We didn't get matcha here but instead got black sesame sundaes. They black sesame soft serve had a really good sesame taste. The boba tea sundae had a good chew on the boba even thought it was in the soft serve. The adzuki sundae was really tasty. The adzuki beans were soft and flavorful. Would have like some more because I really like it but it was a good amount. Rice balls had the right amount of chew and paired well with the soft serve. We'll definitely be back when we are in the area or just craving their soft serve.
We saw many people walking around with soft served and drinks, so we had to try it ourselves! The line looked long, but went by pretty quickly. We decided to try the matcha soft serve and the matcha latte. Matcha soft serve: 5/5 I thought the soft serve was delicious and had very strong matcha flavor. I really appreciate this because we've had matcha soft serve but not like this! Most matcha flavored soft serve are typically lighter green and not as matcha forward, but they really impressed me at this kiosk. The cone was also freshly made and thin and crisp. Matcha latte: 4/5 it was okay! I've had other matcha places in the city and found this one to be decent when I compare it to them. It was pretty balanced, and not too sweet nor bitter. For a matcha kiosk at the mall, I found the place to be pretty decent, if you're craving matcha while walking around the Valley Fair Mall. They don't skimp out on the matcha in both their soft serve and drinks! I would definitely go back for a soft serve!! I like the strong matcha flavor and the yummy cone!
I came to the mall on Black Friday and the line for matcha maiko was very long. But, I love black sesame and saw they had the flavor available that day. The overall atmosphere at the mall was very chaotic and crowded as one could imagine. I ordered the adzuki sundae with black sesame ice cream. The black sesame was lighter in flavor than I was expecting, but it tasted great with the red bean. Overall, I had a positive experience and will be back for more black sesame! read more
This stand inside Valleyfair mall always has a long line, but this time the line wasn't too bad and I decided to try some drinks. The line also surprisingly moved pretty fast. I started by the back near the signage and got to order within 10 minutes. There's a bright menu to view right next to the cashier with popular items marked. That was helpful because it was overwhelming with the number of choices. I ended up ordering the popular Black Sesame Latte and both Banana Lattes to try. The drinks came out within a few minutes. Not too long of a wait. The drinks were standard flavors but good. I don't think it's worth standing in the usual long lines, but still good. read more
I stopped by on a weekday afternoon. I tried there 2 top favorites Boba sundae with matcha ice cream and Azuki sundae with black sesame. Both were really good. May be I liked black sesame ice cream slightly more than the matcha ice cream. Azuki sunda was a surprisingly good one. read more

Black sesame latte was really good. As expected, it's rich with a bold flavor but not too sweet. Wife is reporting the matcha tea to be a bit too sweet though. Staff is friendly, order was quick. read more

I'm rating this for my friend, because she always stops here every time we go. The lines get long, but the service and the speed is hella fast. They are hella efficient and actually keep the quality up. It's near the popmart store so it's kinda rough, but overall hella good. read more

Love the banana matcha here! I really enjoy high quality matcha drinks and this cafe is definitely one of my favorite places to go to for matcha. The banana matcha tasted very fresh and uses real banana. The shop is small, cute, and clean with some seating in front. read more
Pretty solid. Long line, but moves rather efficiently. I've had various matcha cafe maiko locations' matcha soft serve, and all has been rather good, but this one was a bit inconsistent. The waffle cone was thin on top, which I absolutely loved, but it got a much thicker toward the bottom. Makes sense, but a bit inconsistent compared to other matcha cafe maiko ones. The soft serve itself was great as always, but noticed small lumps of stuff within the soft serve, perhaps from powder not mixed in very well or something. Other than that, it was superb. Menu is consistent, with the matcha soft serves and seasonal flavor soft serves. The husband tried the strawberry yuzu soft serve and he thought it was pretty good too. A bit of tartness, and it seemed the yuzu one dominated the strawberry one a bit. They also have soft serve parfaits with some toppings, drinks, and more. Kiosk at the mall, but there are some small chairs and tables behind it. read more

I tried the banana cream matcha with half sweetness and it was so good with the cookie crumbles on fresh bananas on top! I tried the viral banana matcha latte and it was delicious! A bit sweet for my liking but easily split the drink across two days. You can definitely taste the banana and it is a bit overpowering but also, you can taste the matcha itself as it's a little bitter but not too much. Overall, loved the creaminess of the drink and thought it was worth the try. I got lucky with no line on a Monday so service was quick but don't know if I'd personally wait in line for it if it were any busier. read more
They have the 'Viral banana matcha latte' guys loll. I had my first banana matcha latte at CERE tea and i guess since then every matcha place has their version bc of social media. I wanted matcha and this was the only place open around 8pm. My bf wanted to try the banana one so i got one too. I got the small and he got the medium. Only 6.50 for small. I got 50% sweet and it is perfect but u gotta mix all the banana foam on the top in. I loved the real banana chunks on top with graham crumbles. I personally liked this one as it was on the simple side and very strong and still smooth and creamy, my bf said he would've liked his a bit sweeter maybe be his was bigger and he said he had alot of the topping alone at the start but maybe since it's bigger it needs a little more sweetener? This place is great for all things matcha (I thoroughly enjoy their matcha soft serve and matcha coffee latte) but let me put you on to the yuzu soft serve. Whenever yuzu is the flavor of the month at Matcha Cafe Maiko, I always get it and it never disappoints. The smooth and creamy texture of the soft serve is complemented by the bright and refreshing notes of yuzu. So perfect for warm summer days in the South Bay. For some reason, this location in Valley Fair always has a long line. Was it worth it though? Yes. However, I must say the line is usually a lot shorter at the Stonestown location so I try to go there instead whenever I'm in the area. read more
Finally not a huge line! Yayyyy! We were second in line, but on a random Thursday at 10am. I got a delicious Iced Matcha latte with oatmilk (on the left) and a Strawberry Matcha latte (right). I love how traditional this place is with their Japanese Matcha, and it's not very sweet, but perfectly thirst quenching !! Hee. As for ambience, it's a mall so it's just a little random kiosk in the middle, but there are some tables off to the side in front of Pop Mart so you can see the crazy line out the door! I like their matcha ice-cream but for 7 dollars per cup, you would at least expect to fill it up, not give it 3/4 full. Too expensive for the quantity they give. I will not go there again. I am referring to the kiosk inside Valley Fair in San Jose, CA. read more

Came here on a Monday afternoon and there was finally no line every time I have come here on a weekend there was a gigantic line so it was nice to try this finally! I ordered a strawberry matcha latte with oat milk and it came out super quick. After the first sip I understood why there's always a line for this place cus it was delicious! Probably the best strawberry matcha latte I have had. Perfect amount of sweetness and the strawberry at the bottom was pure perfection. Def recommend, but try to avoid the line jf you can!! read more
They have Matcha and vanilla soft serve, plus two rotating flavors. - 4.6: Adzuki sundae with matcha soft serve. Both the soft serve and the red bean topping are very low in sweetness. The kuromitsu syrup is a molasses-like syrup, and it adds sweetness to make the sundae work. The Mochi pieces are too large; they get in the way of enjoying the soft serve. Next time I will bring scissors. - 4.5: Boba sundae with kinako (roasted soybean powder) soft serve. The kinako soft serve is very mildly flavored. It's also much less sweet that typical soft serve. The kuromitsu syrup drizzle boosts the sweetness, but not quite enough. read more
I feel like I'm back in Kyoto. Matcha Maiko has the best matcha ice cream in the area by a large margin. The lines can be long but the service is fast and friendly. There is limited seating so you may be wandering the mall while you eat your matcha. Btw the other flavors I've tried (kinako, ube, hojicha) are fantastic as well. read more

I've been dying to try the banana cream matcha, and got my chance today at the Valley Fair Mall! It was so perfect and the flavors went together so well. The matcha here is a little more on the grassy side, which I like, and the banana pudding made it just the right amount of sweet. I just wish they had a ice cream version of this! This is a small station in the mall, but it came out within 3 minutes or so. Seating is limited at the spot but we just walked around until we found a spot to sit. read more

I saw an Instagram Reel for their Matcha ice cream with the mochi balls, corn flakes, red bean, etc and I just had to try it! For $10, it was good but not great. There was more toppings than the matcha ice cream, which was excellent! Next time I'll just get the match ice cream in the cone. And the line moved faster than I thought! read more
