*This review is strictly for the poke, NOT the mochi donuts. The mochi donuts are delicious* Been a long time fan of MoDo Hawaii and remember their pop-up days at Mitsuwa back then. I've been seeing videos of their poke and decided to try it out. After having it two times, I would say the poke is okay. Also, they forgot to give me seaweed salad the first time I tried it. While the poke is budget friendly, you get what you pay for in quality. It's decent and filling, but quality doesn't compare to higher priced poke shops ($18-$20). The poke kind of reminded me of Basa Seafood in SF, which I wasn't a fan of, and Basa is also known for cheaper prices. MoDo only offers tuna poke and I am a salmon girly. I'm not sure if they plan to expand their selections, but if you wish to try their poke bowls, get the half n half. BTW, I believe staff should be mindful of the rice temperature. My friend visited on a BOGO day and said her bowl was super hot. By the time she arrived home, some of the poke was half-cooked. I also came on a BOGO day but did not experience this.
This review is for the poke! I ordered two half and half poke bowls. The tuna was really fresh, and I liked how their rice was fluffier than jasmine rice. While I preferred the flavor of the soy tuna, I liked the texture of the spicy mayo tuna more. The soy tuna had a really smooth, slippery texture, which was interesting. I don't think I've ever had tuna with that texture before. The bowls were also super filling. While Modo isn't my top spot for poke, it's still a solid option if you're in the area.
Overall, I found this place to be pretty underwhelming. The poke bowl portion was on the smaller side, and there wasn't anything particularly special about it. Compared to other poke spots, it lacked flavor and didn't come with any toppings, making it feel pretty basic. The donuts were just okay as well. I was hoping for a light, fluffy, and chewy texture similar to mochill mochi, but they didn't quite deliver. They weren't bad, just not very memorable. With so many other poke and donut places around, I'd probably try a few other spots before considering coming back
I saw their deal for poke bowls and had to try it! A poke bowl with two fish options is $13, and they also have a student discount with valid id. They have a very small selection, I think two options for both salmon and tuna. They don't do any toppings, just some seaweed on the side. If you want something cheap, I would recommend coming here.
Their morning special for 6 donuts is a great deal! Hot and fresh donuts between 8-10am for only $12 Nice bouncy texture and delicious flavors. Generally not too sweet My favorites were the Ube (well rounded), Black Sesame (nutty), and Lillikoi Passionfruit (sweet and tart). Also got the Tiramisu, Matcha which were also solid but not as flavorful Really nice mochi donuts and even leftovers the next day were still bouncy and chewy. I've had others in the Bay that get dried out hard
Donuts are hot and made to order with your choice of flavor. I tried the Lilikoi today, and loved it. I've been going here for a few years and always make sure to stop by and pick up a few donuts when I'm in the area. The prices are reasonable, and service is quick. The inside decor is fun with a cute painting. This is my #1 place to go to for Mochi donuts.
The mochi donuts here are always the best because they're warm and freshly made to order! We got the matcha, pandan, cookies and cream, churro cinnamon, black sesame, and chocolate box of 6 to try out the different flavors. Loved the black sesame a lot but the pandan and cookies and cream would be a close second and third fav out of the bunch!! They're also doing poke bowls now :0 will be sure to give that a try next time!

The shoyu ahi poke was sooon under-seasoned while the spicy ahi poke was too sauced and sriracha-y... rice was also hard. This place is very well known for their mochi donuts, but FUN FACT: did you know, they also sell ube and pandan drinks, as well as POKE now as well? Not only are they affordable, but they also sell POKE by the pound as well now too! Thank you to some friends that recommended me to try this place -- because this place is often overlooked. It's situated right next to a Peet's Coffee, but the sign is often so small that you don't realize that it's there. I've came here and tried their mochi donuts a few times. They're delicious, seasoned well, and they have a variety of flavors that you can choose from. In addition, they have pandan and ube soy lattes, as well as pandan and ube coffee with whole milk included as well (to add onto the sweetness and/or zestiness of the drinks). Most of all, the POKE is not only one of the cheapest, but also of good quality as well. Though basic and not a lot, $13 poke bowls with variety are hard to find in this economy, and so I'm glad to find a spot that even sells poke by the pound as well. The ambiance of the places is rather small, but I'd pay any amount at this point. The hospitality at this place is top tier -- they treat you like family, and take care of you. Service is nice, fast, convenient, and easy, especially when you're in a rush in between meetings and errands. I'd totally recommend this place forsure!
On a chill Thursday afternoon, my partner and I were looking around Santa Clara and thought mochi donuts would be so delicious. To satisfy this craving we went to MoDo. We ordered a variety of 6 donuts as well as 2 poke bowls. The poke bowls were solid. Nice portion with flavorful ahi, but the rice was a little mushy for my liking. The mochi donuts on the other hand were perfect. Light, crispy and a very satisfying texture. I don't get mochi donuts often, but these really hit me with a wave of nostalgia.
Definitely the best mochi donut I've had in a while! It's chewy and the black sesame frosting is just the right amount of sweetness and nuttiness in flavor. The half half poke salad bowl has a generous serving of poke and if you like spicy tuna, it definitely packs a punch! Overall, would recommend for a quick bite with solid options and I'll be back!

We've been here several times for the mochi donuts, and it's one of my daughter's favorite mochi donut spots. During one of our donut runs, we noticed they also serve poke bowls at a really great price, especially if you have a student ID. Unfortunately, the first time we came to try the poke, they had already sold out. Lesson learned! On our second attempt, we arrived earlier and were able to order two poke bowls. The only issue was that the rice was still very hot, and by the time we got home, it had partially cooked the poke. Our third visit was perfect because we learned from our first two experiences. We came early again and asked if the poke could be packed separately since the rice was still warm. The employee was incredibly kind and even had me hover my hand over the rice to check the temperature. It was definitely still hot, so he happily packed the poke separately for us. I'm so glad he did because everything tasted great once we got home. The poke was fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly saucy, which we loved. Comes with seaweed salad. While they don't offer many toppings and add-ons as a traditional poke shop, the quality and price make it an excellent value. It's actually perfect for my daughter since she prefers her poke without a lot of extras. We'll definitely keep coming back--not just for the mochi donuts, but for the poke bowls too! read more
Preordered and picked up around 9:15AM. The donuts were still warm, so the icing was still wet. Donuts were a nice a chewy, albeit a tiny bit sweet. I also ordered a matcha latte, which had a good matcha taste but was a little grainy and had a little bit too much ice. Overall, yummy food and would order again! read more

Modo Hawaii is known for their affordable Poke Bowls and mochi donuts. Their service is fast, friendly, and efficient. Inside, it's decorated with a colorful art wall. You order with the cashier. There's no seating inside but some are available outside. Their Poke Bowls are filled with high-quality and fresh tuna on a bed of fluffy rice. Their rice to fish proportion is balanced. I got the shoyu poke bowl and matcha mochi donut. Their mochi donuts have a nice crispiness but still soft inside. The matcha flavor was sweet and strong. Everything tasted delicious. $13 poke bowls and $1.50 plain and sugar mochi donuts. I like the deals they have here. The donuts I get are usually warm and everything cost less than $20 which is a steal these days. I shared my bowl and donuts with my toddler and she loved both of them as much as I did. The spicy poke has a kick and they both tasted fresh. Good amount of rice with poke with simple seaweed salad on the side. I liked the simplicity and filled me up! They have a combo deal with a donut, drink and poke bowl as well as 6 donuts for $12 everyday 8-10am which is awesome. I came to try the new March 2026 flavors: honey lavender and earl grey. Wow the honey lavender is fantastic! Such strong lavender flavor without it tasting overwhelming or too floral. The honey drizzle is a nice touch (but maybe the amount can be reduced). The earl grey was ok; the flavor is too subtle to me. If you buy multiple flavors, maybe eat this one first, so the taste is more pronounced. Lilikoi is always the best flavor! Nice and tangy which balances the sweet mochi! read more
I saw on Yelp that they now have poke bowls. Color me intrigued. Came back to try it out -- did not disappoint! I got a half and half bowl ($13). If you've ever been to Hawaii, this bowl gives Foodland or Don Quijote. It's a basic bowl, generous amount of poke mix over rice with a little seaweed. It's not as good as in hawaii, but brings no shame to the poke genre. If you're expecting mainland-subway-style where there's a variety of veggies and sauces, you'll be disappointed. The only thing I could've wished for is a touch of furikake. I topped my poke bowl off with a fresh mochi donut...great combo! Nice guys manning the storefront, too! read more

They are a primarily donut place but they also sell poke. I got their poke bowl for $13.99 which I thought was pretty worth it. It was tasty and they give a good amount of poke. It's only $12.99 if you are student. It comes with a side of seaweed but that's it. But for its price, I think it's still worth it. I came around 6pm and they were already almost out. I came before at like 8pm and they were already all out so I would recommend going earlier. There is no seating inside. Service was good! read more
I wanted to try modo Hawaii because they have so many promotions and deals. I have a photo below of the deals but some are: student discount, free mochi donut if you hit the timer at 10s, etc. Taste: - There was a lot of onion in the poke. It made me a little nauseous but it's great for an onion lover! The way they stored the poke was in a large metal bowl in a freezer. Stopped by MoDo Hawaii because our 3-year-old insisted on having dessert after our Valentine's Day lunch. We have always loved MoDo, but this visit was extra pleasant. The two employees were pretty busy, and I arrived in the midst of the busyness. I did not mind the wait since our little one fell asleep in the car, and the mochi donuts were going to be a great surprise when she woke up. The employee, with the makeup that is on point, was so attentive and apologetic for the wait. Even though they were swamp, she checked on all the customers and repeatedly apologized for the delay. I appreciated the great customer service even though it was a busy (and what could have been a stressful time). Both employees remained calm and worked through the consistent rush of customers. I really wish I got the employee's name. We ordered half a dozen mochi donuts, which were delicious and came out fresh and warm. Our two lattes were also made perfectly (ube and pandan). Came here around 2 pm with my girlfriend. This place wast busy, maybe a few people came into line but everything went smoothly and fast. You jut order through the cashier, there is no indoor seating to eat, however, there is outdoor seating since this is around other restaurants & places. There is a lot of parking around. We got ~ Half & Half Poke Salad: Basically Shoyu & Spicy Poke combined, super good and very fresh. Half & Half Poke Rice Bowl: Very filling and tasty. All the fish is very fresh, and flavored nicely with the sauce. Guava Refresher: A great sweet drink that's also very refreshing. Half Dozen Mochi Donuts: Flavors - Matcha, Churro, Tiramisu, Cookies & Cream, Pandan, and Ube All the flavors were super delicious and I could tell these donuts were made fresh because the frosting flavors were not set yet and the donuts were nice and hot. So delicious and pulled apart so nicely. I highly recommend this place for some sweet treats or some quick cravings of some delicious poke! read more

Surprisingly, the poke here at a known donut shop is better than some poke places! Been seeing poke videos on my fyp for a reasonable price and I just had to see what the hype was all about Got half and half shoyu and spicy and it comes with rice and seaweed. Super simple, no fancy bajillion toppings, just some really good poke for $13!! Can't you believe the price! The shoyu was delicious and I loved the sauce with the spicy one was well. Sadly the spicy garlic shoyu was sold out, but I will be back to try that! For my SoCal eaters, this was similar to bear flag (my go-to spot for poke) If I am ever just craving to buy the fish, you can buy 3 pounds for $18 per pound here as well Strawberry Hojicha 7/10 this was an okay drink, paid around $8.50 for a small sized drink; and it was good but nothing stood out to me so I wouldn't get again, just gonna stick with donuts and poke read more
We love coming here for not their donuts (which are an added bonus), but mostly for their poke bowls. I have to stay this is the closest poke bowl I've ever found to having on the island of Hawaii especially for a good price point!!! It is so simple, flavorful, and large quantities of big chunked ahi tuna! You can't go wrong with any flavors, but highly recommend the 1/2 shoyu and 1/2 of spicy. It is a very small store, so plan to bring home or eat outside on picnic tables. It is a really nice plaza so you can find ample outdoor seating. I will say sometimes depending on how busy they are, they can take a long time, so ahead for that. read more
Came to MoDo Hawaii to pick up some birthday treats for a friend. Honestly, I had MoDo on my mind because a friend had shared with us their promo for fried sando desserts. I missed the pre-order, but figured I'd visit for some donuts and to also get a simple (tasty) gift for a friend's birthday. I used their online ordering mechanism the day before pickup. I wasn't a fan of when I auto-filled my credit card info that the website decided to immediately submit my order. When I received the confirmation email, which says to reply or call with any questions, I included a note to box the donuts in a certain way. I never received a reply back. I ended up ordering: Glazed - a classic Pandan - strong pandan flavor and went well with the chewy texture Black sesame - A favorite among me and my parents who devoured it Hojicha - subtle tea flavor Cookies n creme - can't comment as it was for a gift Tiramisu - can't comment as it was for a gift When I arrived to the MoDo storefront, there was a huge line crowded around the doors. Apparently they had Nha Cafe popped up there! I was able to notify the guy behind the counter about my preferences for 2 boxes and he happily took the notes and boxed my order up accurately. Sooo good hot and fresh. Warm, chewy texture with a sweet icing. My favorite was the black sesame and hojicha. I suggest checking their website to order as it seems they sometimes discount their glazed/sugar donuts. Would definitely come back and try the flavors I missed! read more
I stopped by on a weekday afternoon. They had several fun donuts. Donuts are made fresh, and coated and handed over hot. I went for 6 flavors - Lilikoi, matcha, cookies and cream, sesame, ube, milk chocolate. All were excellent flavors. Sesame was probably my favorite. read more
We have been here about 3 more times since I first discovered the mochi donuts. I have since become a big fan of mochi donuts. When eaten quickly after picking up, the chewy and crunchy outside is a great combination. They had a month long special that I randomly discovered in May 2026, where each donut was $2 each instead of $3 or whatever each normally costs. I was so bummed that I discovered that the second to last day the promo ended, but maybe that is a good thing! The Passion fruit is my favorite especially if you like tangy and sweet. If I could, I would easily eat 10 of them at one time. Chocolate and sesame one are also delicious. All the donuts are sweet because of the frosting but the flavors are so unique that they don't taste artificial like typical donuts. I recommend trying this place, there is not indoor seating it is mostly pick up and go. The place has outdoor seating first come first serve if it's a nice day. I would like to try their Poke sometime too! Service is also friendly. read more
MoDo Hawaii specializes in mochi donuts, but recently also added poke options. We often come here for morning treats for co-workers; mochi donuts add just a little bit more fun! The packaging is very presentable and works well as gifts. They've also recently extended their morning box deals from 8-10am, but also raised their prices to $12/6pc. This is a small shop for poke and mochi donuts. First time visiting and I got to tried the tuna poke and Ube mochi donut. Tuna was so fresh and the donut was so soft. My fav mochi donut place. They have seasonal flavors. Cookie and cream is my favorite. Much cheaper than other mochi donut places. Their poke bowl is really delicious. No offense but I tried their matcha soy latte once and I got diarrhea that's why I reduced one star. Service is good and fast. My weekly sweet treat . They have daily special flavors so the options change here but my all time favorite has been yuzu, dark chocolate and cookies and cream. I've been going here since 2021 and it's always consistently fresh and delicious. My family loves when I bring a box of these over. Sometimes they have buy one get one free promo! The staff is so friendly and will take the time to tell you the specials and explain the flavor profiles of each flavor. They have really cute anime decor and it smells amazing when you walk in! read more
