It's situated right next to a Peet's Coffee, but the sign is often so small that you don't realize that it's there. I've came here and tried their mochi donuts a few times. They're delicious, seasoned well, and they have a variety of flavors that you can choose from. In addition, they have pandan and ube soy lattes, as well as pandan and ube coffee with whole milk included as well (to add onto the sweetness and/or zestiness of the drinks). Most of all, the POKE is not only one of the cheapest, but also of good quality as well. Though basic and not a lot, $13 poke bowls with variety are hard to find in this economy, and so I'm glad to find a spot that even sells poke by the pound as well. $13 poke bowls and $1.50 plain and sugar mochi donuts. I like the deals they have here. The donuts I get are usually warm and everything cost less than $20 which is a steal these days. I shared my bowl and donuts with my toddler and she loved both of them as much as I did. The spicy poke has a kick and they both tasted fresh. I came to try the new March 2026 flavors: honey lavender and earl grey. Wow the honey lavender is fantastic! Such strong lavender flavor without it tasting overwhelming or too floral. The honey drizzle is a nice touch (but maybe the amount can be reduced). The earl grey was ok; the flavor is too subtle to me. If you've ever been to Hawaii, this bowl gives Foodland or Don Quijote. It's a basic bowl, generous amount of poke mix over rice with a little seaweed. It's not as good as in hawaii, but brings no shame to the poke genre. If you're expecting mainland-subway-style where there's a variety of veggies and sauces, you'll be disappointed. Stopped by MoDo Hawaii because our 3-year-old insisted on having dessert after our Valentine's Day lunch. We have always loved MoDo, but this visit was extra pleasant. The two employees were pretty busy, and I arrived in the midst of the busyness. I did not mind the wait since our little one fell asleep in the car, and the mochi donuts were going to be a great surprise when she woke up. The employee, with the makeup that is on point, was so attentive and apologetic for the wait. Even though they were swamp, she checked on all the customers and repeatedly apologized for the delay. I appreciated the great customer service even though it was a busy (and what could have been a stressful time). Both employees remained calm and worked through the consistent rush of customers. You jut order through the cashier, there is no indoor seating to eat, however, there is outdoor seating since this is around other restaurants & places. There is a lot of parking around. Surprisingly, the poke here at a known donut shop is better than some poke places! Been seeing poke videos on my fyp for a reasonable price and I just had to see what the hype was all about Got half and half shoyu and spicy and it comes with rice and seaweed. Super simple, no fancy bajillion toppings, just some really good poke for $13!! Can't you believe the price! The shoyu was delicious and I loved the sauce with the spicy one was well. Sadly the spicy garlic shoyu was sold out, but I will be back to try that! Came to MoDo Hawaii to pick up some birthday treats for a friend. Honestly, I had MoDo on my mind because a friend had shared with us their promo for fried sando desserts. I missed the pre-order, but figured I'd visit for some donuts and to also get a simple (tasty) gift for a friend's birthday. I used their online ordering mechanism the day before pickup. We when there when they tried to copy Japan and did the fried bread with cream inside. This the worst $40 I've spent for six 1/2 pieces of bread. I dont think the oil was hot enough so the bread soaked up all the oil. My mouth was coated. It felt like I made out with a jar of crisco shortening. The vanilla was so sweet, it was inedible. I made myself a cup of coffee and used the cream for the coffee instead. That's how sweet it was. The hochicha and green tea was better but again was ruined by oil drenched bread. I remember when MoDo had pop ups at Mitsuwa market years back and am now so happy they have a brick and mortar shop. First and foremost, the mochi donuts are incredibly chewy with a solid flavor selection to choose from. Personally, I like the lilikoi flavor a lot. The staff were all nice and efficient in service. The store is quite small but there are seats outside in the surrounding area. As for the poke. This was such a wonderful addition to their set menu. There are few spots in the South Bay to get really great Hawaiian style poke and this one is up there. The portion in the like bowl is very generous and I wish they had a larger size. Guys, these are the best mochi donuts in the bay. I've tried them all, you're welcome. Anyone who says otherwise has defective tastebuds. I will tell you why it's the best. They make them more or less fresh with a perfect dough batter that's not too oily, not too dense, hard, etc. It's perfectly soft, bouncy, tasty, and chewy. When they make it fresh, they also get the fresh hand dip or sugar coat. They are so good eaten right out of the store. But no fear if you have to partake later - you can reheat in the microwave for like 9 or so seconds, and they'll perk right back up. They're also surprisingly one of the cheaper mochi donuts you'll find in the bay, as prices of other places have gotten ridiculous since the pandemic. It's such a shame that the original Hawaii-based company closed down everything except this Santa Clara location, and sold it off to another owner. I purchased gift cards that I wasn't able to redeem anymore, but spoke with the current owner and they're honoring it out of their own pocket. This place is somehow not as popular as it should be; when they originally landed in the bay, the wait was hours long... like half a day basically at Mitsuwa Marketplace. They're trying to branch into other things like drinks, malasadas (not good, dough sucks), ice cream, and poke, but all they really need to do is the mochi donuts. I'm not sure what's up, but they're definitely trying with their cute social media content. They do pretty good promos and swap out seasonal flavors from time to time, so I suggest following their socials. I went to a YEE at MoDo some time ago, and I kept them in the back of my mind for next time we wanted a sweet treat. This is in a busy complex in Santa Clara - lots of parking, but there are always cars coming in and out. We scored a spot right in front. I remembered really liking the black sesame donut, so I got one of those and also the mango which was a seasonal flavor. My companion got one milk chocolate and one ube, and he thought they looked very similar in color, but were good in taste. These donuts are very fresh and fluffy, and dipped in flavor to order. Since I was there last, we saw that they now sell poke (spicy or not) which you can get on rice or just get a portion to take home. If you are looking for poke in the Bay Area that tastes like it is fresh from Hawaii - Modo Hawaii in Santa Clara is your spot! We go to Hawaii yearly and always enjoy our poke from Foodland and whatnot and crave it when we are home. I've tried a few other market places in the area where I can get poke by the pound (Santo market, Aloha Fresh, etc.) and so far this is the best poke by the pound I've tried. The fish tasted fresh (texture and flavor) and it wasn't too heavily drowned in sauce! I've been purchasing the poke via Ubereats and Doordash, but do note it is $24/lb on the apps vs. $23 in person. I did notice today that they have a rewards program (1 point per $1 spent) but it is only for in store purchase. I got to try a matcha mochi donut since it was $3 off a minimum $25 spend offer on doordash and it was so tasty. I love that they have various deals (ex: June 6 it was donut day and they said buy 12 get 6 free). During weekday lunch, they have a buy 1 get 1 50% off for poke bowls - I have not yet had the opportunity to take advantage of that offer but one day I will! On superbowl day, I had a craving for donuts so I tried this place out. I placed an online pick up for the passion fruit donut and a chocolate donut. They dip the chocolate donut fresh, not sure about the passion fruit flavor. Both were delicious and the texture is like mochi dough.
