    Black sesame cream
    Maria L.

Mochicream has my favorite Japanese mochi. I have tried a lot of their different flavors. Every one was unique and delicious. My favorite is the black sesame, mainly because I love black sesame. I was more used to the Chinese style black sesame mochi, which had pure black sesame fillings. I didn't know I would like a mochi with cream inside until I tried one of theirs. The mochi were flown in from Japan, and they're always fresh. The outside was super soft like a cloud, and not too chewy. The cream was very light (like a whipped cream) and not overpowering so that the flavor you chose could stand out. My daughter wanted to stop by the bookstore inside Mitsuwa to check out some pens on Sunday around lunch time. The parking lot was super crowded as usual, but we're lucky to find a spot at the back. After getting her pens, I had to show her all the different flavors of mochi at Mochicream, which was also inside Mitsuwa. While everything inside the display wasn't real, they're so pretty to look at. There's a list on the right side of the display showing all the "out of stock" flavors. It took my daughter a while to decide on the flavor. We finally got 1 red bean and 1 black sesame ($2.9@). The price varied slightly depending on the flavor. We both enjoyed our mochi after we got home. So good!

The worst picture on Yelp of MochiCream mochis. The mochi are as good as this picture is bad!

Ok, the picture attached to this review is terrible. I admit I forgot to take a picture other than taking a picture of my wife opening the box of mochi which was an anniversary gift (not the only one, just one of them). So sorry - there are plenty of good pics, this one is just for fun. But the mochi! Quite awesome! I went to Mitsuwa to try and get some unique chocolates as a present, but the ones there weren't what I was expecting. But I saw those mochi, and who doesn't love mochi? They told me they were shipped from Japan, and I went "Oooo!" They said to eat them within 24hrs for maximum taste/freshness, and I thought "Very doable!". I actually wasn't sure I would love these at first because the filling is cream based. In a variety of different flavors, but I'm not super fond of cream, just like I'm not super fond of mayonnaise. At least there has been no occurrences of anyone trying to put mayo in a mochi - that's a step too far. But as it turns out, the cream is light and the flavor in question is so true to what you'd want and expect, that it doesn't register as heavy or fattening. It may still be a bit fattening, but we have to live some, right? We tried black sesame, mango, Sakura, choco banana, strawberry. The first time I bought this as a gift, I got 8. The second time a dozen. Really really good stuff. And contrary to the trend of $8 Big Macs and $13 fast food meal deals, these are priced around $2.50-2.75. The mochi is so soft and fresh tasting. None of this frozen ice cream filled mocha that kind of flakes apart. It's supple and pliable and just the ideal housing for the various delicious flavors. Not like a cloud wrapping really, but it's kind of like if a hug were materialized into a flavor wrap. Like you bite in, and it's like "Ahhhh". Can't help but feel just a little more loved when you're biting into one of these little bundles of joy. Highly recommended and I'm glad I've discovered it. . .after more than 30yrs in the Bay Area. Better late than never I guess.

The matcha cream bun was really good. I got 2 mochi: the Caramel pudding and the peach yogurt. Get the caramel pudding. Skip the peach yogurt

It's good but the mochi is nearly frozen and not ready to eat. And it's quite expensive!

Located inside Mitsuwa market. You fill out on the sheet of what you want and give it to the staff to get for you. Quick and efficient process. When you get the mochi it's still quite hard and cold from where they store it. I got the uji kintoki and double mango. The matcha color was a bit pale green and didn't have a strong matcha taste so I wasn't really impressed. Overall, it's okay. It's more of a cream filling and not to be mistaken with ice cream.

I love mochi, and found this little mochi shop called MochiCream inside the Mitsuwa market. There's a variety of flavors, and everything sounded so delicious! You can buy them individually or in a gift-set of 6 or 12. I picked 6 different flavors, and my top favorites were honey raspberry, matcha, and mango! The mochi texture was spot on - soft and chewy, and the cream inside was not overly sweet. Yum yum!

I really wanted to give this a 5/5 because of the cleanliness, service, and aesthetic design on first impression. However, our mochi was hard and stale.

If you like mochi then you need to give this place a shot. It's not exactly the usual mochi, but they are really good. They are mochi with cream/fruit filling versus the bean paste. The taste is amazing, but the only drawback is that they come frozen and you have to wait a bit before eating them. Still, mighty tasty, just have to wait a bit before eating.

This is a cute little mochi shop located inside Mitsuwa. They have a small store on the right side of the store when you walk in. Since it is in a supermarket plaza, parking can be tough to find if you go during busy hours. To order, you mark off the flavors you want on a slip of paper. We tried the Banana Chocolate Mochi, Black Sesame Mochi, Double Mango Mochi, and White Chocolate Mochi. My favorites were Double Mango and White Chocolate. The quality is so good and the flavors are all so delicious. Each mochi is around $2.60 which is pretty good due to the good quality. When you get it, you have to wait 15 minutes before eating so they can thaw. I held it between my hands and it was good in around 5 minutes. If you are a fan of mochi I definitely recommend trying this place. It is so good and I will definitely come back to try different flavours.

The first time we had Mochicream was when we were in Japan so it is always brings back great traveling memories when we venture to SJ and can get some Mochicream shipped directly from Japan. Perfectly located inside Mitsuwa, it's always nice to be able to do our groceries shopping along w/ picking up a box of Mochicream. :) Definitely don't expect the traditional flavors you are use to finding at other manju shops. Like it's name, Mochicream offers mochi filled with different cream flavor fillings instead of bean paste. It's a nice refreshing twist to what we are use to growing up and they make great gifts, I love the box it always comes in. Some of my favorite flavors includes caramel pudding, raspberry Mille-feuille, peach yogurt, and caramel macchiato. For ice cream mochi, we also like tiramisu, chocolate mint, and cookie marshmallow. They also offer mochido from time to time which is their version of mochi donuts. It's been around for years, way before the mochi donut craze but unfortunately, these seem to be more delicate to ship from Japan. Enjoy!

I have been to this Mitsuwa before and have picked up sushi and other sundries. I should have paid more attention because that would have brought me here sooner. Mochiceam is the real deal. Double mango and peach mochi FTW.

I was in the area and in the mood for something sweet. I stopped by Mochicream, which is located inside Mitsuwa Market near the entrance in the corner with J Sweets. I arrived around 6pm on a Wednesday. Although it was later in the day and a couple of hours from closing, all the mochi flavors were still available. I had no problem with selecting exactly what I wanted from the menu. The ordering process is quite simple. There's a form you complete indicating the quantity of mochi you want per flavor. One side of the form consists of regular mochi (more flavors to choose from), and the other side consists of mochi ice cream. Since I knew I wasn't going to be able to go home right away after my trip to Mochicream, I opted to get a few flavors of the regular mochis. The store recommends that the mochis are defrosted 15 minutes prior to eating. I actually had the mochis thawing for over 30 minutes in my car while I was out and about running errands. When I got home they still felt cold, but they were thawed to the perfect softness. I got 4 flavors (white chocolate, raspberry mille-fueille, chocolate banana, and caramel pudding), which were all quite enjoyable in their own right. The flavor palettes for each mochi were spot on. I was especially surprised by how well the caramel pudding mochi was on par to flan in terms of flavor and consistency. I particularly liked that chocolate banana, white chocolate, and raspberry mille-fueille had added crunchiness to them, which enhanced the texture.

This little 3.5 mochi shop is inside Mitsuwa market. As the name suggests, they carry cream filled donuts of various shapes and flavors. Cream filled mochi (Sakura and peach): Inside the mochi are two layers of fillings. In the center, you have whipped cream and the outer layer is the textured filling of your chosen flavor. Sakura was definitely the best of the three in terms of flavor. Mochi donut: tasted artificial and had this unpleasant scent to it. Maybe we had a bad one or something....

I got there on a Thursday morning right as they opened at 6am and there was already a line. It took about 15 min. to get to the counter to place my order. Stan's makes the donuts right there in the front of the shop, so they are completely fresh. I ordered one chocolate French cruller and one chocolate crème-filled glaze. The cruller was wonderful. Airy and soft with delicious chocolate on top. Should have ordered two of those. The chocolate crème-filled was not as good. It was too crispy on the outside and had too much warm crème inside. I might have liked it better if I hadn't first eaten the perfect cruller. Stan's only takes cash, but they have an ATM machine in the shop. There is a large shared parking lot. Phone orders must be placed 24 hours in advance. I'll be back for more crullers and to try an apple fritter, which are only served on Mondays.

If you like fudge brownies you'd like these. My issue was the burnt almond cake, both vanilla slices were on the dry side. We walked into a cozy, compact space with shelves filled with freshly baked breads, pastries, and prepared foods, all arranged in a way that makes you want to browse slowly even though the shop is small. The atmosphere has that simple, welcoming feel reminiscent of the small bakeries you find throughout Japan, focusing more on quality and variety than on a large café setup. Seating is limited, so it is better suited for grabbing something to go rather than spending a long time inside. The biggest draw here is the combination of Japanese baked goods and savory items. The bakery selection offers a great mix of sweet and savory options, with classics like melon pan standing out for its crisp sugary topping and soft interior that stays light without being dry. The curry bread and croquette bread are also popular choices, both feeling comforting and freshly made rather than overly sweet or greasy. The bakery items are reasonably priced, which makes it easy to pick up multiple things without feeling like you are spending too much, and the variety means there is always something new to try. The onigiri selection is what really makes Clover stand out compared to a typical bakery. They offer a variety of rice balls with fillings like spicy tuna, tuna mayo, and unagi, making it a great option for a quick breakfast or light meal. The rice is well balanced and the fillings give each onigiri a different personality. The spicy tuna has a nice kick that comes through without overpowering the rice, while the unagi adds a sweeter, more savory flavor that works especially well with the slightly salty rice. The onigiri are a practical, satisfying choice for anyone looking for something more substantial than a pastry. Beyond the baked goods and onigiri, Clover also has drinks, sandwiches, and desserts including cakes and other pastries. The strawberry cake is a nice lighter dessert option, and the overall menu gives plenty of reasons to visit whether you are looking for breakfast, a snack, or something to bring home. The offerings feel thoughtfully selected, with enough variety to cover different cravings without making the menu feel scattered. Service is friendly and efficient, and the small size of the shop adds to the charm. Since it has become a popular local spot, some items can sell out during busy hours, so arriving earlier gives you the best selection. Parking can also be a little challenging during peak times, but the quick grab-and-go style makes the visit easy to manage. Clover Bakery & Cafe is a great stop for anyone who enjoys Japanese bakeries. The combination of fresh breads, affordable prices, and unique savory options like onigiri makes it feel different from a standard bakery. It is the type of place where it is worth picking up a few items and trying a mix of everything, leaving you with the sense that you have found a little neighborhood gem that delivers on both quality and variety.
