    Pandan Milk Bread with Coconut

CA Bakehouse still is popular. There were regulars lining-up at 1pm to order products by the door. Customers still weren't allowed inside the bakery area. One queue was for online orders (recommended by the bakehouse) and the other was manned by an attendant with a tablet and a printed menu. Parking wasn't a hassle this time as there were plenty of spots. Add the fact that we were now familiar with Vietnam Town. We got our usuals with choux (Kaya and Ube), Pandan-Coconut Milk Bread and Banh Bo (honeycomb cake). The mention worthy Guava filled Mochi Cake was so good! A yummy tip that elevates this baked good was when I toasted it (4 minutes) in an airfryer. The crunchy surface with the chewy mochi texture plus the sweet guava stuffing was the perfect ratio I was looking for in a dessert pastry. Can't wait to go back and have more of the guava filled goodness!

I love the different unique flavors of baked goods they have here. Kaya croissant and Ube croissant, so flaky and amazing flavors. Their cream puffs are also pretty good, I love the flavors that they offer too. I tried the hojicha one and it was superb! Definitely would come back for their baked goods again.

It's been a weekly refill that I've been getting my Asian desserts and I'm so happy about that! Both my sis' would grab my favs: durian egg tarts, ube croissant, coconut milk bread and now cookies are also my fav! I can't tell you how much Mama Lam has these baked goods down! I wanted to gate keep this the last 6-7 yrs I've been here and I did for a bit, lol! It was nice not having long lines but she deserves all the fame for her endless hard-work to make THE BEST ASIAN DESSERTS!! I love her for that bc you can literally taste so much love in her foods! It's consistently good and she pops out new items like these cookies! I got the Vietnamese coffee cookies and the 52% cacao chocolate chips for me and my nephew. Oh boy! Did he tear it up and tell me thank you for the desserts. These cookies were only $3 each, $3! What a steal and to see home bakeries try to sell their cookies for $5 at their home, such a ripoff! I support local business but do not charge such high fees when you don't have a storefront. I appreciate Mama Lam for delivering delicious baked goods without charging an arm and a leg and still have a store to manage. Her prices have not changed much since I've been here over 7 yrs! She's a GOAT for this! Please support small business, especially women-owned and hardworking people like her and she loves what she does. I can't thank her enough for bringing me the best goods for a fraction of the prices and I don't have to make a trip to Vietnam!

Finally got to try this place. We placed our order and it was ready within minutes. Friendly service. Banh Bo aka honeycomb cake slice: 5/5 excellent bouncy chewy texture and flavor! Egg tarts: I tried the egg and Kaya flavor but was not a fan. I didn't like the taste or the texture of the crust. Kaya aka pandan choux: 5/5 excellent pandan custard filling and good outside texture.

If you're in San Jose and want to try something unique, please stop by CA bake house. They mix traditional flavors like pandan with more modern desserts. Parking: - This is in Vietnam town so parking can be hectic. That said, If you're willing to walk, there's a lot of parking options! Taste: - So yummy! The flavors here are light and sweet Service: - So the interior is mostly closed off to customers. You can order in front of the store or online. They are quick to get orders out and sometimes have multiple folks taking orders outside.

Fast and delicious pastries! We loved the guava mochi cake and pandan cookie! The pandan waffle was a little too bland for our tasting so will skip next time. The Choux filling was also tasty!

Great little bakery in the plaza. They have a pretty nice selection of goods, from egg tarts to different breads and also drinks. I came here on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't that busy. We picked up 2 egg tarts, normal and pandan flavor, and pandan buns/rolls. The normal egg tart was delicious, perfectly crumbly and creamy. I had high hopes for the pandan one but it wasn't as good as the original - it wasn't as creamy as I would've liked. We had the pandan buns later over the course of the week and they were so good! Amazingly fluffy, flavored with pandan and coconut. That was totally worth it for the price point. Overall I'd definitely recommend this place, especially for the pandan buns.

Walked by and decided to try a fresh baked pastry on a cold rainy day. We were pleasantly surprised! I liked the egg tart, the filling is like a custard. The guava mochi was pretty good too, it has a light guava jam filling at the bottom. Really quick to order and get served. There's no seating, just grab and go

Seriously. SO GOOD. If I lived in San Jose, I would eat here all the time. I stopped in while visiting the area for a work conference and CA Bakehouse did not disappoint. We got so many things: * Ube + taro choux * Ube + taro croissant * Portuguese egg tarts * Pandan Green Waffle * and Pandan bread My favorites had to be a toss up between the flaky, delicious Portuguese egg tart and the perfectly filled ube + taro choux. If you've never had a choux, it's almost like an elevated cream puff. I definitely recommend coming early, they seem to run out of goods quickly. Parking can also be hard to find since CA Bakehouse is located in a busy shopping center. You order at the door and the person taking your order will hand you all of your pastries. There's not a ton of seating in the area, unless you're dining at a neighboring business, so we ate in our car. ...But I have zero regrets about those crumbs because it was worth it!

The Kaya Choux is the shiiiii. I get it every time I come. I wanted to try something new today and the staff recommended the Kaya Honeycomb Cake. The slice was super small, and the texture was a bit odd. It was almost rubbery so I'm definitely skipping that next time. It is solely to-go, no seating whatsoever. There is a self service tablet, as well as staff taking orders right at the door of the business. Typically always a line, and they tend to sell out on popular items because people like myself, order multiples to bring home to enjoy later. You can air fry the Kaya Chouxs and they're just as good.

On a super fast trip to NorCal for a wedding, we were right by CA Bakehouse and I couldn't help myself. I had to make a trip here to try it since its been on my bookmarks forever and who knows when I will be back to this area next. Let's just say I went a bit crazy with ordering. When I read the menu it was like man just take all my money. And then when I tried a bite of each item, this spot would be so deadly if it was closer to me. I probably would eat it all of the time. Everything was nice and soft and not overly sweet. I was able to taste the flavor of each item. I definitely give this spot 2 thumbs up and if I am in the area I definitely would come back 100%! No hesitation on that! Ordered: Banh Bo Nhung Kaya Croissant Pandan cookie Black seasme cookie Pandan waffle Pandan tart Durian tart Vietnamese coffee cookie, Egg tart TIPS: *No seating available *Super busy plaza shared with other businesses. *Credit card only *Order on kiosk or ask staff to take your order.

CA Bakehouse is this tiny bakery in the main Little Saigon plaza. You order on the tablet outside and they call your name when your order is ready; there's no seating or anything and it's meant to be quick and casual. Don't let the long line deter you because it goes by fast! Hours are pretty limited so there will almost always be a line if you're going on a weekend. Onto the pastries! Portuguese egg tart: amazing! The perfect hybrid of a Chinese and Portuguese egg tart because it's not too sweet like a Chinese egg tart but still has the amazing flakiness of a Portuguese egg tart. Kaya egg tart: bright green and had an amazing coconutty pandan vanilla flavor. This may have been lifechanging for me. I'm not even that big of an egg tart fan to begin with. Honeycomb cake: my friend had said this was a nostalgic sweet treat for her and I can see why it'd be comforting. Simple and chewy and lightly sweetened. Very good! Slices are quite small though for the $3.50 price. Will be coming back for more for sure!

My friend and I planned a trip to South Bay solely for this bakery. Please keep in mind their hours before coming!! You can also order online for fast and easy pickup. I visited before, and I knew I had to bring my friend to try these unique pastries. As someone who loves durian, pandan, and Asian flavors, I love this bakery! I would highly recommend any of the durian and kaya pastries, so so good. The owner is the cutest lady too.

We ended up getting three burnt almond cake slices (2 vanilla 1 chocolate) and some brownies. The brownies were pretty good, balanced sweetness and chocolate flavor without being overwhelmingly sweet and I enjoyed the walnuts, but it was a very fudge like texture and I prefer my brownies to be slightly more cake-y and airy. If you like fudge brownies you'd like these. My issue was the burnt almond cake, both vanilla slices were on the dry side. The chocolate slice had a hint of chocolate otherwise tasted exactly the same. The almonds and cream were fine, I would've preferred stronger almond flavor. Was meh. Price is good at $5 for a hefty slice. If I'm in the area maybe I'd go back, otherwise it was about the same as a Safeway cake slice.

We walked into a cozy, compact space with shelves filled with freshly baked breads, pastries, and prepared foods, all arranged in a way that makes you want to browse slowly even though the shop is small. The atmosphere has that simple, welcoming feel reminiscent of the small bakeries you find throughout Japan, focusing more on quality and variety than on a large café setup. Seating is limited, so it is better suited for grabbing something to go rather than spending a long time inside. The biggest draw here is the combination of Japanese baked goods and savory items. The bakery selection offers a great mix of sweet and savory options, with classics like melon pan standing out for its crisp sugary topping and soft interior that stays light without being dry. The curry bread and croquette bread are also popular choices, both feeling comforting and freshly made rather than overly sweet or greasy. The bakery items are reasonably priced, which makes it easy to pick up multiple things without feeling like you are spending too much, and the variety means there is always something new to try. The onigiri selection is what really makes Clover stand out compared to a typical bakery. They offer a variety of rice balls with fillings like spicy tuna, tuna mayo, and unagi, making it a great option for a quick breakfast or light meal. The rice is well balanced and the fillings give each onigiri a different personality. The spicy tuna has a nice kick that comes through without overpowering the rice, while the unagi adds a sweeter, more savory flavor that works especially well with the slightly salty rice. The onigiri are a practical, satisfying choice for anyone looking for something more substantial than a pastry. Beyond the baked goods and onigiri, Clover also has drinks, sandwiches, and desserts including cakes and other pastries. The strawberry cake is a nice lighter dessert option, and the overall menu gives plenty of reasons to visit whether you are looking for breakfast, a snack, or something to bring home. The offerings feel thoughtfully selected, with enough variety to cover different cravings without making the menu feel scattered. Service is friendly and efficient, and the small size of the shop adds to the charm. Since it has become a popular local spot, some items can sell out during busy hours, so arriving earlier gives you the best selection. Parking can also be a little challenging during peak times, but the quick grab-and-go style makes the visit easy to manage. Clover Bakery & Cafe is a great stop for anyone who enjoys Japanese bakeries. The combination of fresh breads, affordable prices, and unique savory options like onigiri makes it feel different from a standard bakery. It is the type of place where it is worth picking up a few items and trying a mix of everything, leaving you with the sense that you have found a little neighborhood gem that delivers on both quality and variety.

Matcha wasn't what we were looking for but we may be inclined to try other flavors in the future.

It was warm and extremely savory! I also picked up a Pandan Coconut Hawaiian Sweet Rolls and it was just as good as it looked. A typical sweet roll with a hint of coconut and Pandan flavor. Liked that it was fluffy. So glad we stumbled upon this bakery because we wouldn't have been able to experience the delicious bun and sweet roll. Can't wait to stop by again next time I'm in the area and try their other buns!

I rarely go up to San Francisco which has some good bakery shops that makes great pineapple buns. I found this place on Yelp that carries pineapple buns. When I came Sunday evening, they had none left. The cashier said she will set aside some for me the next day for pick up at lunch. Sure enough I was able to get 4 pineapple buns plus I thought I try their bbq pork buns. The pineapple buns were soft and the topping wasn't as flaky as the Hong Kong pineapple buns. The sweetness level and bun were light whereas the Hong Kong is much sweeter and slightly heavier. I say their pineapple bun is decent and their bbq pork bun is smaller than the Hong Kong version. I rate this place a 3.
