This place is an easy 5 stars. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the aromatic scent of simmering star anise, and the atmosphere feels authentic, casual, and welcoming. The main meat used is filet mignon instead of normal beef. I ordered the #3 Kobe pho, torched, and it was outstanding. The broth is what really sets this place apart, it's incredibly clean yet full of flavor, with just the right amount of star anise coming through without overpowering the other spices. I usually end up adding a lot of hoisin sauce to my pho, but here I didn't feel the need at all. The broth stands perfectly on its own. I practically drank all the broth. The Kobe was tender, and the torched preparation added another layer of flavor that made the bowl feel extra special. Overall, I'd highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a new pho restaurant. Great food, authentic atmosphere, and a broth that's memorable enough to keep you coming back.
Took my family out to the new pho spot in town. Food: 5/5 You have the option of getting regular thin chewier noodles or fresh flat soft noodles and we all got the fresh noodles. Each bowl was loaded with meat! Often times when I picked up noodles, there would be meat slices that get picked up too. We got two orders of the short rib pho special and there was SO MUCH meat on the bone! They gave us scissors that we could use to cut the meat off. The short rib was very soft and good. Ambiance: 5/5 There is a good amount of parking in the plaza. There is a nice art mural in the background and lots of seating for different party sizes. The tables are big enough to fit several bowls of pho. They play modern music here and there is a screen to see which songs are playing. The pho is affordable here because you get a lot of meat and you will leave feeling very full! Service: 4/5 There is a pitcher of water with a lemon inside that you can pour yourself. My family of 4 ordered 4 pho bowls and I liked that we got two plates of vegetables to share. The waiter only mentioned the number of our pho order so it took awhile to differentiate which bowls was which. I usually ask for rare steak on the side but it costs $1 extra so I didn't get that and it we still red in my broth so it was fine. It was really good with high quality meat. I highly recommend this spot!
I loved the pho--it was easily one of the best bowls I've had! The broth had so much depth and was perfectly seasoned without being too salty. You could smell and taste the different spices before even taking the first bite, especially the cinnamon and star anise. The filet mignon was incredibly tender and complemented the broth perfectly. I also enjoyed the noodles, although they were slightly softer than I personally prefer. The portion size was generous and very satisfying. Overall, the pho was flavorful, aromatic, and well balanced. I would definitely order it again!
Service is quick and great. The server was quick to seat us and take our order. She was very knowledgeable and answered my questions well. The place looks clean and well maintained. There is plenty of seating and the condiments are always topped off. Food is great and flavorful. Bowls are reasonably priced for the type of meat they use
Husband really want to try this place and I am glad we did because it was really good. The food came out really fast. We also did not wait long for our table. The broth is flavorful. I didn't have to add anything else. I got the combo oxtail pho -comes with oxtail, beef and tendon. The meat is tender. The broth is awesome. Husband got the beef ribs. The meat is so soft, tender and pullout the bone. There is a lot stores in here so be prepared to wait for parking spot. Its a busy place.

My pho was good. Lots of meat, veggies, etc. The broth was a little on on sweeter side for me. The hubs mentioned that as well. Both I balanced it with a bunch of hot sauce. I know they are more known for their kobe bowl, but idk. It didn't seem like it was gonna elevate the pho, so I decided against trying it. Maybe an excuse for a return. Good pho tho a lil pricey. I visited Pho Duoi Bo in San Jose, CA [2465 Alvin Ave] on Monday, 06/29/26, around 11:30 AM. I came here because I've seen a lot of social media buzz (specifically Instagram) associated with this restaurant. For lunch, I ordered the #2, which was the SPECIAL Short Rib Combination Pho, priced at $22.75. I must say that this bowl of soup was beyond flavorful and filling. The meat from the Short Rib was generous in portion, the broth was tasty and the additions of other meats/veggies were great. My pho included basil leaves, squeezed lemon juice, jalapeño peppers, and sriracha sauce. The service was attentive. The inside of the restaurant was amazing, especially with the gold-forward details and wall art. The sauces and utensils were even nicely organized for use at the dining tables. Overall, I was impressed with the execution of the SPECIAL Short Rib Combination Pho. SPECTACULAR! I'm from the 209 area, so the drive was well worth it. I highly recommend stopping by.
We were in the neighborhood and decided to stop by after seeing the great Yelp reviews. I'm so glad we did! We came around 1 p.m. on a Sunday, and the restaurant wasn't crowded. We were seated right away, and seeing lots of Vietnamese customers made us feel like we picked the right place. After looking at the menu, it was clear that the signature here is the oxtail pho. The giant bowl looked amazing, but I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered the #4 rare beef pho while my husband got the signature oxtail pho. When the food arrived, my bowl looked a little plain compared to his overflowing bowl of oxtail and other cuts of beef. Luckily, he shared some with me, and it turned out to be the perfect combination. The broth was absolutely delicious. It was rich, flavorful, and served piping hot. Honestly, it's one of the best pho broths I've had, and I enjoyed it even more than Pho Ha Noi. The beef was tender, and my husband loved how much oxtail came with his bowl. The restaurant was clean, the service was friendly, and they even have a buy 10, get 1 free loyalty card, which was a nice surprise. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommend!
I've been eating pho a lot lately and I think this is tied with another restaurant (Pho To Chau 99) as my #1. Been here a few times now and I love that: 1. The broth is well balanced. Not the richest or most savory in flavor as my other fave but has a pleasant depth from initial taste to after taste 2. The rare steak and fatty brisket are TENDER. Pho Duoi Bo wins in this dept. Beef balls are good but not my fave. 3. They are super generous with the green onion and I love that it's cut short and long. Notable mentions: + for giving me two lemon wedges where as most places only provide one then too many when I ask for extra (I don't need a whole ass lime/lemon for my bowl). + for the frequent diner stamp card + for opening late! This may be the best bowl you can find in SJ at such a late hour (12:30am)
Pho is unique, delicious, and the best part... they are open late!! I got the pho Kobe, which is not really offered at typical Vietnamese pho shops, so I decided to give it a try and yeah, this was really good! What they do differently here is torch the Kobe beef, plate it on the side, and you eat the smokey savory beef slices as you are eating your pho (I always get fresh noodles, they are better trust me) the beef was soft, tender, and had a fantastic bite with the fresh pho noodles. Also the soup was incredibly beefy, and a bit oily, but I actually like that in my pho soups! it's a pretty decent sized restaurant, and I absolutely love they are open late whenever I am craving some pho. However the lighting is actually so bright in there, that is my only feedback, but the pho itself is delicious!
Open until 12:30 AM daily. We arrived quite late, maybe around 11 PM, and there was a waitlist. The service was kind of nonexistent and lagging but quite typical for a pho shop. The floors were dirty with food still there, too. Giving them some slack because they're open late and I would think they've been busy and working hard all day. I know their name translates to pho oxtail but no one in our group ordered it. We each had different combinations and one chicken pho. When our bowls came out, my first thought was the serving size was small but in a big bowl. However, once I started eating, it was definitely plentiful and filling. The broth was slightly too salty for my liking but it was still aromatic and tasty. The chicken pho was said to be delicious as well, as it had a clean and definitive flavor. It was also served with a side of nuoc mam gung to dip the chicken in. Overall, good late night pho spot.

It's okay. Came here due to high help rating. It was decent seafood pho with minimal protein added on for $17 but the part that made it just okay was I was so thirsty post dinner. Will have to try other places in the area. read more

We love Pho and this place did not disappoint! I got the Beef Rib Dinosaur fall of the bone Pho! My wife got the Oxtail Pho combination. Both Pho had good Aroma and broth had wonderful flavors to them. Service was fast and efficient. Place was packed and people was in and out with people. Such a good spot! I've been here 3 times in the past couple months. I always get my pho with the fresh noodle and it's so much better in my opinion! The broth is sweet and full of umami! All the meat is so tender and well cooked. Would come back to get more for sure. read more

Soo glad we found this place! Now we have a favorite chicken pho place to go to. Got the combo and the breast only chicken pho. Broth was flavorful, good portion of noodles and chicken. Loved that the soup came out temperature hot! We also loved the eggrolls, very peppery and enjoyed that it had shrimp in it! The sauces were good along with their chili sauce. Place has plenty of seats inside. Parking is good too. Service was kind and quick. read more

Yummy! Had the #2 short rib pho before 9:30 AM today for an early lunch. Quick attentive service. Simply delicious. Also had a Vietnamese iced coffee. Something to keep in mind, eat early to ensure getting a seat and medium rare short rib. Ribs are precooked, so wait too long and short rib may be overcooked to your liking. read more

The service was fast and attentive here. Our food came out within minutes after ordering. I got the Oxtail pho. Oxtail was tender and the fresh pho noodles was delicious with nice consistency. I also got the Sugarcane drink which was tasty and not too sweet. Make sure you ask them for chili oil which they keep in the back. My son got the Kobe pho. It was good and we loved the nice char it had. The only thing that sucked was they brought it out torched already, and didnt torch it tableside like I thought they were gonna do. They have a promotion right now, if you buy 10 bowls od Pho, you'll get 1 free. Come check them out! read more
This is our favorite pho place in the Bay Area so far and we're picky when it comes to pho. There's lots of meat options on the menu and they're open quite late (until 12:30 AM). They're generous with portion sizes and our bowls came out so quick! The broth was very rich and the oxtails and brisket were tender. The interior is also very modern and clean. Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 When it comes to pho, I love it when the broth is steaming hot and Pho Duoi Bo didn't disappoint, the broth stayed hot throughout my entire meal! The broth was very rich and flavorful but as a heads up to those who prefer a 'cleaner' broth, it did lean a bit on the sweeter and oilier side for my personal taste. The depth of flavor was solid and the meats were tender and high quality! The vibe in the restaurant is casual but I am a little saddened by their service in regards to their loyalty program. The staff didn't mention anything about the buy 10 get 1 free promotion and I didn't realize I missed out on the opportunity until I had already left but I'll know for the next time I visit! If you want to give this place a try, remember to ask for extra lemons/limes to help cut through the sweetness and fattiness of the broth! Very flavorful pho and at a reasonable price. Most of the noodle dishes are under $20 at the time of this review. If this is a good indicator, the place is full of Vietnamese diners so that's a positive endorsement. The place is clean and the staff is very attentive. I was seated immediately and given a laminated one sheet menu. The waiter took my order and within like 5 minutes the pho noodles arrived at my table. The rare steak cooks in the hot broth so it's not raw meat. I couldn't finish the bowl of noodles; it's enough to feed two people. So the rest is coming home with me to finish later. On Our first visit to Phơ Duoi Bo My party and I ordered 4 bowls, (Spicy and sour seafood, it's spicy for real, oxtail special, mixed chicken, and F7) 3 drinks: 2 teas and a smoothie, (peach tea, thai tea, and a mango smoothie), and egg rolls. For the most part we all enjoyed our soups, the broth on all of them was delicious. In regards to the food, if the rating was based on broth alone this would've earned them 5 stars. However, Pho No. 2 beats them on the flavor of their eggroll filling, and it appears the steaming hot broth is the main method used to cook the meat in the Pho, so the skin left on the chicken wasn't tender and a bit chewy. My son wasn't able to manage it, so he ended up taking most of the chicken out. In the future I know to order him the #27 chicken breast only. This is the reason for the 4 star overall rating. We prefer our meat a bit more tender. The service was on point. Our food arrived within 5 minutes of us ordering, hot and fresh, and it's always impressive when I don't have to ask for water. We visited after the lunch rush, on a Thursday afternoon, so they weren't too busy, but still had a continuous flow of customer's. The restaurant is located on the Eastside in a strip mall located on Alvin and Fontaine, a bit hoody from the outside, but the inside wall decor is beautiful. The restaurant offers bench and chair seating. We will most definitely visit again when conducting business on that side of San Jose, because a gentleman that received his food right before We we're leaving was enjoying a soup I want to try: #2A. Hands down one of the best pho spots in San Jose at the moment. Food is great, interior is nice and clean, and staff are friendly. They're located in the Alvin Center Plaza off Tully which can be super busy at times so be prepared to circle the parking lot during their busier hours. They have a wide variety of pho to choose from, but I love the #21. Everything is really fresh - their broth is sooo good and even their noodles hold so much flavor. The meat is really tender and I love how generous they are with their meat portions. The best part? They have stamp cards! Buy 10 get 1 free. This is the only pho spot I know that does this. They're also open later than most pho restaurants which is a huge plus. We'll definitely be back again. read more
Was craving pho and stumbled upon this restaurant on yelp. Came here during dinner time and was seated right away with a few tables open. Pho with short rib combination (4/5)- broth was very flavorful yet didnt leave me feeling thirsty after consuming the broth. Everything was great but the only thing I would personally improve would be for the short rib to be more tender. The fresh noodles they offered were delicious and held the flavor of the broth. This place is a little overrated and over priced. HOWEVER .... If you are getting the large beef bone then I think the price is fair. It was late, I had just left a sporting event and wanted something comforting. The pho broth had a nice beef bone flavor and a good pho smell, but it was not pho flavor forward. It was a bit too sweet for my liking which makes me assume the chef is from the south. The meat quality, however, is one of the best I've had. Also it tasted more like msg rather than sweet from other ingredients. Not complaining about the use of MSG, however, it felt like they used too much. I got the soda, passionfruit drink, which taste highly artificial it didn't even taste like it was just from concentrate more like a powder. I've come to Pho Duoi Bo twice now and it always hits the spot! I ordered a #22. The broth is so tasty and perfectly seasoned. It's super filling to the point I didn't need to order anything else. THIS PLACE WAS GENUINELY THE BEST PHO IVE EVER HAD! Coming into town, my friend and I were scouting the best Pho in SJ! We were coming in from Phoenix, where we haven't had good pho in a while (our favorite place closed ), so we were very excited to see all the reviews on Pho Duoi Bo on Yelp!!! And they did NOT DISAPPOINT! We both got the Filet Mignon Pho with fresh noodles. First off, the broth KNOCKED ANY OTHER PHO IVE EVER HAD out of the ball park. It was so full of flavor that typical pho places don't have. I don't even know how to describe it, but hearty and flavorful! It was darker, more brown than typical pho broths. The steak itself was tender, and it came with so much of the meat! Pho portions are typically large but the amour of meat and noodles in it were SO MUCH! A great bank for your buck! We knew we chose the right place when the place filled up at lunch time (picture taken at 11am). Their staff was hospitable even when the lunch crowd filed in, which I appreciate! There was plenty of seating for large or small parties, and the parking lot is shared with the rest of the strip mall. I will be dreaming about this pho until I head back to the Bay! read more
We just returned from a two week trip in Europe -- and I was in dire need for some Asian food. My fellow Yelpers led us to this Pho spot. I felt like having something brothy and hearty so based on the reviews and photos, this was going to be our stop. These guys are newer in the SJ Pho game and have been around for a little over a year. That's okay though because they get to come in with their best hand swinging. We both had their #1 which is called out as Phở Đuôi Bò Đặc Biệt on the menu -- essentially the Combo Pho with all the different cuts of meats including oxtails. Portion sizes are very generous. Noodles were cooked al dente (thank goodness!) and broth had a hint of sweetness breaking away from all the savory toppings. We finished our bowls of comfort promptly and were so satisfied. Service was excellent for a Vietnamese restaurant. Our guy took our order minutes after we sat down and our food was out within 5 minutes. No frills, straightforward, and piping hot Pho being served right from the kitchen -- preferences when I'm looking for a Pho fix. Would recommend! read more

Hello, Sorry the broth does have little MSG. If you are allergic to it the you should avoid it. Sorry.
Omg I see they have oxtail soup. Besides that soup, what else should I try? It doesn’t have to be soup, just a must try delicious recommendation ? :)
Please lower the volume of TV... it's so annoying that I cannot enjoy the meal... will most likely not recommend my friends to go there since we can't have a normal conversation... so pathetic sad
