best pho i've had in bay area no competition. only 2nd (or possibly tied with) to all about pho out of all pho i've had Ever Worldwide. soup is not too salty and not oily, tastes clean. food comes out super fast
One of my go-to pho spots. - The broth is rich and flavorful - The meat is tender - The portions are seriously generous. I also love that they don't charge extra for fresh noodles--a nice bonus you don't always get at other pho spots.
The broth is flavorful. I didn't have to add anything on my bowl. I just dipped my meat separately. The service was quick and fast. Extra lemon wedges were accommodated wth no extra cost so it was a plus. The waitress didn't ask if we wanted any drinks. Small place but it is truly packed. Could be loud and a lot of foot traffic cause the tables were seated closely in order to get maximum capacity. Check out the bowl size. I couldn't finish all the meat. The waiter provided a pair of scissors for the short rib because it came as one big piece. It was one good meal even though it was randomly pick for today's quick visit in San Jose. Didn't try their drink maybe next time. Of course it will definitely be next time. Distance do not stop good eating lol. Thank you for being in community!!!
One of my top pho spots in SJ and they open late. Small wait on a Monday night with waitlist by paper on the wall. Decently sized restaurant. Started with the fish sauce chicken wings tasty but wings are on the smaller side. I got the torched Kobe beef pho and you can see them torch at the counter before bringing it out. Char smoky flavor on the tender Kobe beef. The short rib was also tender with the tendon attached still. Pho comes with fresh noodles and the soup here is on the sweeter side. Fresh veggies were nice. Plenty of parking late night in this plaza but days can be busy.
This is my 2nd time coming here and it does not disappoint. You know the pho here is gonna be good if that is all they serve. I had the #1 special with the oxtail, tendon, brisket and meatballs and it was delicious. It definitely hit the spot on a slightly windy day. The broth has a slight cinnamon taste to it but it is not overpowering and once you add your mint and other flavors in there then it can go away. The pho by itself is just as good. If you do not want to wait long definitely come in either before the lunch rush or after since I had to wait a few minutes but it was worth it.
We had high hopes based on the ratings. We shared the oxtail pho combo and chicken wings. Parking was easy and abundant on a busy Saturday afternoon. We were seated fairly quickly. The positives: The pho broth was very good. Chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The cons: The hoisin sauce on our table had either exploded or someone loosened the bottle. There was sauce on the "clean" utensils. We didn't see our server after we placed our order. So we were left to clean up someone else's mess. The noodles were clump led together and hard to pull apart. A third of the noodles were actually just in a balled up cluster that we needed to cut apart. The oxtail was chewy and tough. I had to cut it off the bone with scissors. The glaze on the wings were overly sweet. Sadly, we didn't have a good experience.
Was in the mood for soup and been wanting to try this place as it was all over social media. Came in for late lunch and it hit the spot. Im usually not into white noodles but this time I decided to give it a try as I was told to try the fresh ones. I ordered the beef rib pho and it came piping hot with huge tender fall of the bone beef rib. The broth was nice and clear not salty at all. The gave right amount of noodle for me and lots of broth. My only complaint was the cleanliness of the utensils and the sauce bottles.

We came on a Sunday around 12:15 and waited around half an hour to be seated. When we placed our order, the server read back our order to us correctly (3 bowls of pho and a side of meatballs) but then only 2 bowls came out. After 5 min I asked about the third bowl and she said "you didn't order that" --but everyone at my table agreed they both heard me order 3 bowls and heard her repeat the order back to me. She came back in another 5 min with the bowl. Throughout the meal, we also kept getting other people's orders which was really annoying and the waiters were all mumbling so you couldn't hear what they were saying. The pho tai was fine, but the broth was luke warm and the beef was pretty tough. The side of meatballs was $7.50 and was literally 2-3 meatballs cut into chunks, not worth it at all. For the price ($75+ for 3), wait, and (lack of) service, you're much better off going to pho Kim long instead.
My child and her father dine at Pho Duoi Bo quite frequently. Because I am generally not a fan of this particular meal, I've always declined the offers of coming here. Today, that all changed and I can understand Pho Duoi Bo's hype... Lemme start off by giving their BUY 10 BOWL, GET 1 FREE offer. This loyalty stamp program is a rarity and the business owner's generosity should 100% be celebrated. With that said, my BD is extremely forgetful and never actually gets anything stamped- LMAO!!! The menu offering is strictly pho. Beef pho, chicken pho, seafood pho.... They got it all. The only exception would be the appetizers: eggrolls or chicken wings. I like the sweet and simple approach- this simplifies things tremendously and the business focuses on their craft. WIN, WIN! Dinner consisted of: * Phở Đuôi Bò Đặc Biệt [SPECIAL Oxtail Pho Combination] * Tai Filetmignon, Nạm, Gân, Sách [Filetmignon steak, Well Done Flank, Tendon, Tripe] * Hành Dấm [Onion Vinegar] * Café SữaĐá [Vietnamese Ice Coffee] Herbs come out first and that is the initial foreshadowing of how your meal will essentially be. Pho Duoi Bo provides a nice portion of blanched bean sprouts, Thai basil, sliced jalapeños, & lemon wedges. Everything was top tier kinda fresh- vibrant green hues, the appropriate crisp factors proving the veg hasn't been sitting out or cut waaay waaay in advanced. The pho comes out shortly after along with the thinly sliced vinegar onion. For those of you who have never tried the onions, please do! This gives such a nice, tangy, bright, and crunchy factor to the meal- it helps balance the typical fatty broth. Both banh pho and banh pho tuoi were delicious- cooked well, portions were good, and they don't charge extra for the fresh version. The worst thing you can do is pay extra for some fresh noodles that end up being NOT SO FRESH with other pho establishments. Meats were plentiful and I enjoyed the chewy bite in my tendon chunks. My only honest complaint was wanting the broth to have a more depth flavoring of the spices and aromatics found in a legit bowl of liquid gold pho broth. Still very good but it just could have been ever so slightly better. 5/5 stars and that says a lot coming from someone who generally doesn't care for pho. The coffee alone is worth a return visit!! Food is great, the establishment is clean, and the service is really kind. I see you, Pho Duoi Bo!! You're absolutely doin' your thang and you're killing it in the kitchen!! Job well done!

TIME: came here at 6:40 pm on a tuesday, was kind of packed, but still got seated at a small table in the middle for two. PARKING: is in a plaza center so not really hard to park anywhere at all. INTERIOR: very nice and casual seating, just a good handful of seats so if it's busy it would probably be hard to grab a seat unless you would want to wait SERVICE: you just get seated down, they take down your order, wait for food, and then you can either wait for them to come up and check you out or you can just get up and go to the front register and get checked out. FOOD: KOBE PHO - sooo good, the meat came out first, we got it torched and the meat came with onions which i added into my pho and it was so good. the meat is very tasty and not hard to bite at all. EGG ROLLS - super delicious, piping hot, good serving size, and great amounts of filling OVERALL: never had kobe pho and i'm glad it did. solid pho place that i loved trying. kind of different in a way
Pho Duoi Bo was buuusy at 12AM. I was worried we'd be cut off from being served, so it was nice to know they keep letting people in to dine until the actual closing time at 12:30AM. (I know of some restaurants that stop taking dine-in if it's close to closing hours.) The pho was good! I ordered #5 (Tai Filet mignon, Chín). Portion of meat/noodle was a little smaller than what I'm used to since I usually am fully stuffed after eating pho, but that wasn't the case here. Staff were pretty quick, despite the many customers. It's not a large place, but they fit as many tables as possible in the space. Glad I was able to dine here and appreciate the late hours!
I think this might be the best pho I've had in San Jose. The broth is so flavorful and the cuts of meat are so meaty and tasty. The oxtail is a good addition to the pho, though it does make it pricier but it's worth trying if you're visiting Service is pretty fast and efficient. Despite having bit of a line we were seated fairly quickly after the wait. Also served pretty quickly after being seated. Restaurant is fairly casual and has some nice paintings as decor on the walls Overall highly recommend

Came by myself around 1pm on a Saturday. It was pretty busy but I was seated in about 10 minutes. I came specifically for the #2 combo. It didn't seem that big when it came out, but it turned out to be very hearty. I'm a pretty big eater and it was more than enough to fill me up. The beef slide right off the bone! They gave me scissors to cut up the meat; the scissors were so useful! The broth flavor was on point. Not oily at all and not overpowering with spices. Absolutely loved it. The noodles were soft and the other meat was very good. This was definitely one of the better beef rib pho bowls I've had. San Jose has not shortage of Pho spots and I've tried over a dozen. read more
Definitely on top of my list for pho! Got there a little before 1pm and there was a wait. Make sure to write your name on the clipboard inside. It was a hot day but the heat doesn't keep people away from pho! Probably waited a good 15 minutes or so. Ordered the pho tai bo vien (rare beef w/ beef balls). You can choose between the regular and fresh noodles. My go to is the regular! Broth tasted flavorful and clean. Good portion of everything. Vegetable platter comes with boiled bean sprouts. Good sized place. The walls have really nice paintings on it - whoever did them is so talented! It looks like it was mainly two people handling everything. Easy parking in the plaza. read more
Haven't eaten pho in SJ in a while and decided to give this a try. Big bowl, lots of meat and worth the price. I think it is a little over spiced for me with their spice mix in the soup but wouldnt deter me from coming back. read more

Took my family out to the new pho spot in town. Food: 5/5 You have the option of getting regular thin chewier noodles or fresh flat soft noodles and we all got the fresh noodles. Each bowl was loaded with meat! Often times when I picked up noodles, there would be meat slices that get picked up too. We got two orders of the short rib pho special and there was SO MUCH meat on the bone! They gave us scissors that we could use to cut the meat off. The short rib was very soft and good. Ambiance: 5/5 There is a good amount of parking in the plaza. There is a nice art mural in the background and lots of seating for different party sizes. The tables are big enough to fit several bowls of pho. They play modern music here and there is a screen to see which songs are playing. The pho is affordable here because you get a lot of meat and you will leave feeling very full! Service: 4/5 There is a pitcher of water with a lemon inside that you can pour yourself. My family of 4 ordered 4 pho bowls and I liked that we got two plates of vegetables to share. The waiter only mentioned the number of our pho order so it took awhile to differentiate which bowls was which. I usually ask for rare steak on the side but it costs $1 extra so I didn't get that and it we still red in my broth so it was fine. It was really good with high quality meat. I loved the pho--it was easily one of the best bowls I've had! The broth had so much depth and was perfectly seasoned without being too salty. You could smell and taste the different spices before even taking the first bite, especially the cinnamon and star anise. The filet mignon was incredibly tender and complemented the broth perfectly. I also enjoyed the noodles, although they were slightly softer than I personally prefer. The portion size was generous and very satisfying. Overall, the pho was flavorful, aromatic, and well balanced. I would definitely order it again! read more

Pho Filet Mignon Steak, Well Done Flank, Tendon, Tripe ($17.98) *Sale Tax - 10% ($4.07) On the way back to SJ, the hubby and I decided to actually stop to have a meal. There weren't many options for late night on Tues, so we decided to try out the pho here. We walked in and were seated immediately. Tho it was actually pretty busy for a random Tues night. My pho was good. Lots of meat, veggies, etc. The broth was a little on on sweeter side for me. The hubs mentioned that as well. Both I balanced it with a bunch of hot sauce. I know they are more known for their kobe bowl, but idk. It didn't seem like it was gonna elevate the pho, so I decided against trying it. Maybe an excuse for a return. Good pho tho a lil pricey. It's okay. Came here due to high help rating. It was decent seafood pho with minimal protein added on for $17 but the part that made it just okay was I was so thirsty post dinner. Will have to try other places in the area. read more
Service is quick and great. The server was quick to seat us and take our order. She was very knowledgeable and answered my questions well. The place looks clean and well maintained. Decent pho, but service and cleanliness need attention. The broth and meat were both quite nice, and overall the pho itself was decent. Unfortunately, the experience was brought down by the service and cleanliness. I understand there can sometimes be a language barrier, but some of the interactions felt unnecessarily dismissive. There was no smile or acknowledgment, limited eye contact, and we were left waiting by a table that appeared to be set up but were not seated for what seemed like no particular reason. Small gestures of hospitality would have made a noticeable difference. Cleanliness was the bigger concern for me. I only took a few photos, but unfortunately, the items I encountered were consistently dirty. I'll let the photos speak for themselves rather than overstate the issue. There's definitely a solid bowl of pho here, but the service and cleanliness are areas that could use significant improvement. read more
Husband really want to try this place and I am glad we did because it was really good. The food came out really fast. We also did not wait long for our table. The broth is flavorful. I didn't have to add anything else. I got the combo oxtail pho -comes with oxtail, beef and tendon. The meat is tender. The broth is awesome. Husband got the beef ribs. The meat is so soft, tender and pullout the bone. There is a lot stores in here so be prepared to wait for parking spot. Its a busy place. read more

I visited Pho Duoi Bo in San Jose, CA [2465 Alvin Ave] on Monday, 06/29/26, around 11:30 AM. I came here because I've seen a lot of social media buzz (specifically Instagram) associated with this restaurant. For lunch, I ordered the #2, which was the SPECIAL Short Rib Combination Pho, priced at $22.75. I must say that this bowl of soup was beyond flavorful and filling. The meat from the Short Rib was generous in portion, the broth was tasty and the additions of other meats/veggies were great. My pho included basil leaves, squeezed lemon juice, jalapeño peppers, and sriracha sauce. The service was attentive. The inside of the restaurant was amazing, especially with the gold-forward details and wall art. The sauces and utensils were even nicely organized for use at the dining tables. Overall, I was impressed with the execution of the SPECIAL Short Rib Combination Pho. SPECTACULAR! I'm from the 209 area, so the drive was well worth it. I highly recommend stopping by. read more
After 2 months we finally went back to give this place another chance. We ordered two Kobe pho, unfortunately we came later so they ran out of the fresh noodles today. But the broth and everything else was worth the hour drive here. The sugarcane is perfect match it's not too sweet which makes it a 10/10. The two servers are always consistent with their service and honesty deserve a raise after seeing them Serve so many people tonight. They were fast, served with a smile and the drinks are always consistent. We waited about 15 minutes, it was a long line but it went by fast! The interior is bright but it didn't bother us. I did hear they ran out of toilet paper. Bathroom is small but it's decent it's not dirty like most pho places about 7/10. The cashier was fast even tho it does get a bit tight by the register and you awkwardly stand and wait for your turn. Looking forward to eating here a few times a month again! read more
We were in the neighborhood and decided to stop by after seeing the great Yelp reviews. I'm so glad we did! We came around 1 p.m. on a Sunday, and the restaurant wasn't crowded. We were seated right away, and seeing lots of Vietnamese customers made us feel like we picked the right place. After looking at the menu, it was clear that the signature here is the oxtail pho. The giant bowl looked amazing, but I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered the #4 rare beef pho while my husband got the signature oxtail pho. When the food arrived, my bowl looked a little plain compared to his overflowing bowl of oxtail and other cuts of beef. Luckily, he shared some with me, and it turned out to be the perfect combination. The broth was absolutely delicious. It was rich, flavorful, and served piping hot. Honestly, it's one of the best pho broths I've had, and I enjoyed it even more than Pho Ha Noi. The beef was tender, and my husband loved how much oxtail came with his bowl. The service is quick. We ordered the dac biet with ox tail, and the dac biet rib bone. Their soup is flavorful, a little bit salty for my personal taste. You can get thick or thin noodles. Their pho comes with A LOT of meat. I was sooo full by the end of it. For the price, it's worth it. read more

Pho is unique, delicious, and the best part... they are open late!! I got the pho Kobe, which is not really offered at typical Vietnamese pho shops, so I decided to give it a try and yeah, this was really good! What they do differently here is torch the Kobe beef, plate it on the side, and you eat the smokey savory beef slices as you are eating your pho (I always get fresh noodles, they are better trust me) the beef was soft, tender, and had a fantastic bite with the fresh pho noodles. Also the soup was incredibly beefy, and a bit oily, but I actually like that in my pho soups! it's a pretty decent sized restaurant, and I absolutely love they are open late whenever I am craving some pho. However the lighting is actually so bright in there, that is my only feedback, but the pho itself is delicious! read more
We're from LA and were visiting the area, so we found this pho restaurant through Yelp. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the start. We had pho here yesterday, and the broth was mediocre. The service was also lacking, especially from one of the employees, who failed to bring us things we had requested on two separate occasions. Today, we decided to order pho for our toddler, but we didn't want to order a regular-sized bowl since it would be way too much for him. My husband remembered seeing a kids' pho listed on the menu as #24, so I called the restaurant to place an order. I specifically ordered the kids' pho and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. My husband arrived about 15 minutes later, and they told him to wait because the order wasn't ready yet. He waited and eventually asked for an update, only to be told that they don't even have kids' pho and that the menu is incorrect. How does that happen? If the kids' pho isn't available, why did they take my order over the phone and tell me it would be ready in 15 minutes? And why did they only tell my husband this after he had already driven there, waited, and had to ask what was going on? Mistakes happen, but this was such a frustrating and avoidable experience. The lack of communication and basic attention to the menu and orders is really disappointing. Highly, highly do not recommend this place. There are plenty of pho restaurants in San Jose, and unfortunately, this one is not worth returning to. read more
I came here for dinner one day and heard about it online that they serve northern vietnamese style pho. I ordered the chicken pho and the beef rib combo pho. Both pho came out hot, I really like how the soup was hot and not cold at all. The chicken pho was okay - not my favorite that I have tried but good amount of meat. The beef rib combo pho had also a lot of meat and good size, but the broth itself was a bit too sweet for me. However, this can be adjusted with some lime. I would say that their beef pho is better here for sure compared to their chicken one. Also, it's nice that they also have option of different noodles. read more
Open until 12:30 AM daily. We arrived quite late, maybe around 11 PM, and there was a waitlist. The service was kind of nonexistent and lagging but quite typical for a pho shop. The floors were dirty with food still there, too. Giving them some slack because they're open late and I would think they've been busy and working hard all day. I know their name translates to pho oxtail but no one in our group ordered it. We each had different combinations and one chicken pho. When our bowls came out, my first thought was the serving size was small but in a big bowl. However, once I started eating, it was definitely plentiful and filling. The broth was slightly too salty for my liking but it was still aromatic and tasty. The chicken pho was said to be delicious as well, as it had a clean and definitive flavor. It was also served with a side of nuoc mam gung to dip the chicken in. Overall, good late night pho spot. read more

Such a good spot! I've been here 3 times in the past couple months. I always get my pho with the fresh noodle and it's so much better in my opinion! The broth is sweet and full of umami! All the meat is so tender and well cooked. Would come back to get more for sure. read more

Returned again and had a great experience. It was our first time trying the the fried chicken, and it was pleasantly juicy and sweet, crispy and delicious! I also once again enjoyed the chinese donut. The broth was so clean and flavorful, the noodles firm and generous. We tried the short rib this time and it slid off the bone, very tender! Great spot and will come again. read more

Please lower the volume of TV... it's so annoying that I cannot enjoy the meal... will most likely not recommend my friends to go there since we can't have a normal conversation... so pathetic sad
