I stopped by Pho Now to satisfy a spring roll craving after ChatGPT recommended it, and I'm so glad I did! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome. The restaurant was very clean, and I loved the cute little character decorations on the counter--they added a fun touch to the atmosphere. The staff was incredibly friendly. I asked how many spring rolls came in an order and what they were filled with, and they kindly explained that each order comes with four rolls filled with shrimp and pork. Since I'm currently working toward some fitness goals, I asked if one order could be made with just shrimp while keeping the other order traditional. They were more than happy to accommodate my request without hesitation. After we paid, we were told the wait would be about 15 minutes, which actually made me happy because it meant they were making everything fresh instead of serving premade rolls. While we waited outside, a staff member even came out to find us when our order was ready and made sure we had plenty of extra sauce. The spring rolls looked incredibly fresh, and the peanut sauce looked amazing before we even took our first bite. I honestly went in with no expectations, but wow... these were some of the best spring rolls I've had in a very long time. We happen to be the area looking for a spot to eat at after doing errands. I have been wanting to try one of the newer Pho restaurants in South San Jose, Pho Now. We arrived on a late Saturday afternoon for lunch recently. Pho Now is located in a nice large plaza off Capitol Expressway. Lucky grocery store and the popular Cha Cha Sushi is located in the same shopping plaza as well. Parking is accessible in the large parking lot out front. The Vietnamese restaurant has nice modern cultural decor. Colorful fun Asian characters and some Japanese art are present in the front and counter area. It is spacious and clean with plenty of tables for dine in. We ordered 2 shrimp and pork vermicelli and 1 kids bowl with beef balls. Everyone enjoyed their delicious food. Our vermicelli bowls were huge and looked appetizing. The shrimp was juicy while the pork was unfortunately chewy. Noodles were tasty. My son said his kids bowl was yummy and the beef balls were scrumptious. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Pho Now. The staff were nice and accommodating. There was a robot server that brought over cups of water to us which I thought was a nice touch. The price point was in the higher side for Vietnamese food in the area but the dishes are large proportions. The vibe was family friendly and bustling. My family and I were in the area and needed to find a spot for lunch. Initially our oldest son wanted pho but the hot weather deterred that. Yelp led us to this spot. Heads up- they have great options for pork & beef but not so many options for chicken! We were a little disappointed to see that they do have chicken pho but no grilled chicken! We ended up ordering garlic noodles with vegetables (7/10- nothing special ), popcorn chicken (7/10- nothing special), grilled pork with rice (son rated it 10/10), and Vietnamese egg roll (8/10). I assumed the side of noodles came with broth since they charged $7.50..but to my surprise it literally was a side of noodles (small clam shell container) !! I was the first customer here on a Saturday morning right when they opened at 10, and had a great meal. I ordered fewer dishes than I'd normally eat, but that turned out to be a good thing. I had a large #1 with raw onions and a no-milk iced coffee. I'm not sure if the pictures do it justice, but this was almost a comically large bowl. I typically have a big appetite, but this was ridiculous. A mountain of noodles, all the meats, a ton of soup... I have literally never seen such a large bowl of pho besides eating challenges. $19 isn't cheap but for this quantity and quality it's kind of a bargain. And as for quality, this place delivered. Complex and rich broth, perfectly chewy noodles, all the meats and tendon and tripe exactly right. I have no notes other than I didn't quite finish the broth because I just simply ran out of room. Shameful, I know, I hate wasting food but there just wasn't any way I was finishing. Normally I'm against adding condiments like hoisin and ESPECIALLY sriracha to pho as I think it ruins the flavor, but I did experiment with adding a very small (like a teaspoon or less) of fish sauce and I did find that it added a pleasant little something to the broth. Herbs don't count of course, I guess if I was nitpicking they could have been more generous with those. Although it just might be that the bowl is so comically large that it makes a normal amount of herbs seem insufficient by comparison. I had a dining companion who had the #14 Kid Pho with well done brisket, and pronounced it "the best pho ever". And keeping with their portion size, it wasn't that much smaller than what I'd consider a normal adult portion. So I guess one tip is come hungry and under-order because they are not messing around with the portion sizes. When I do come back I'd also like to try a vermicelli bowl and some of the appetizers, they look delicious. Just not combined with the pool of pho, unless I was splitting it. The coffee I had was great, strong and not too sweet. Oh and the service was also very nice, we were quickly seated and they checked on me and my slow-eating companion many times. Inside it's very clean and bright, with high ceilings and music playing. Not a bad place to linger while you attempt to eat 5 lbs of pho. read more

The servers were very warm and helpful, they also use the serving bots that's recently often found in pho restaurants. I ordered that shrimp and egg roll vermicelli bowl. It came with a hefty serving and the shrimp and egg roll tasted incredible. The rest, however, were okay. I personally wasn't a fan of the sauce they provided. I felt like they used too much chili that it overtook the other ingredients, flavor-wise. Pleasantly surprised by this Vietnamese restaurant! If you're looking for a new spot out of your typical Vietnam Town staples, this is a really solid option. Locally owned and operated. We got the Pho Tai Large.. and can I just say? IT IS REALLY LARGE. I was shocked at the portions of this bowl. Lots of tender beef and lots of noodles. PLEASE order the fresh noodles! They cooked the texture of them perfectly and it was definitely worth the extra $1.00! The broth is light in flavor, but didn't disappoint. This was soooo filling. Don't sleep on the Garlic Noodles! I saw a lot of other people on Yelp order this and I can see why! Flavorful thin noodles, but not too salty. The Thit Nuong (Pork Chop) was definitely the highlight of this dish, so I can imagine it's amazing with vermicelli too... Gotta try that next time. I also REALLY loved the Vietnamese egg rolls here! Discovered this spot through a Yelp Elite event! The restaurant is located in a plaza with ample parking. We were greeted warmly by the servers. The decor inside was very cute with a lot of Popmart trinkets. I got a small size of the combination pho and my boyfriend got a small pho with brisket and filet mignon. I loved that the bean sprouts that they give you are pre cooked! The small size bowl was so much food. They give you so much meat and noodles. The broth was also super flavorful. Interestingly, we stopped by the boba shop next door afterward and the smell of industrial cleaner was so overpowering we had to step out. This leads me to believe there might be a systemic infestation issue within the building itself rather than just this specific restaurant, but as a customer, seeing a pest in the dining area is a, unfortunate dealbreaker. Sadly, some things are just impossible to unsee, and this was my first and last visit. * The Bottom Line: I'm writing this with the hope that management and the building owners take even more aggressive action. Pho in this season! I was excited to try this place that I haven't been to. Vietnamese has been my goto place when I want some good food to treat myself. The place looks great, fun characters all over the place add a nice charm and appealing to younger crowd. I requested them if I could have the chicken in the house special and they obliged. The pho was good, exactly what I needed on a cold night. It is different from the ones that I have tried before. This place is famous for serving Norther style of Pho. I have always tried the much flavorful southern style pho. So my initial reaction was that it was bland. But you get the hang of that simple umami flavor as you go. Enjoyed it. This place is spacious and clean. It's nice that they put all the napkins and chopsticks at the table, so we don't need to ask for more napkins every time we need more. Everything is well organized on the table. Ordered the Custom Pho with brisket, tendon, tripe and beef ball. The soup is delicious and tasty. Noodles are cooked right and there's a good amount of meat in the bowl. Service is decent. They have a robot bringing drinks and certain items to your table. Ladies room is clean and they have good toilet paper, not the super-thin 1-ply TP. Only down side is their drinks are very expensive for almost $8 and toppings are extra. Was going to order the drink but decided not to after seeing how pricey it is. I'd rather go to a specialized tea store if I were to pay $8 for a pearl tea. This place is different from what I'm usually familiar with because their pho is Southern style. Southern style pho has a richer, sweeter broth with more cuts of meat (flank, meatball, rare steak, brisket, etc...). I ordered the house special pho, which included everything to try the different meats that they offer. My favorite meats would have to be the rare steak and meatball because of how tender and flavorful they are. The soup was not super salty or fatty, which is really good. Overall, I would give it a 3.5/5 just because I'm not a fan of the flank and brisket (it was too fatty for my liking). I would definitely recommend the Pho Tai or Pho Bo Vien if you're looking for something more light and consistent. I was impressed by their service and how kind the workers are. They greeted me and were helpful in recommending some menu items. They have lots of other delicious Vietnamese dishes that aren't pho as well. The store had a really cute small shop vibe as it was decorated with lots of big and tiny Popmart merch and cute quirky knick knacks around the store. Another solid Vietnamese restaurant, that is kid approved. First thing that catches their eye is the cute decor, giant pot Mart figurines, hilarious toilet paper roll holders in the bathroom, even Mickey himself made this place a whimsical experience for my kiddos. We have been thinking about this place ever since our last visit.. Coming back today, it was exactly how we remembered it!
