This place is always busy for a reason. Their portions for the price are so worth it. We ordered the meat jajangmyeon because we like the extra protein and a side of tangsuyuk and the best part about it was that the portions are so hefty we were able to share one bowl and the fried pork and we still took home some leftovers. The noodles are perfectly chewy every time and having the sauce for the tangsuyuk on the side helps for the pork to not get soggy while you're eating the rest of the meal. The service is super quick and even though it seems you might be waiting a while to get in, the staff are great at recognizing which tables need to be clean and ready so they can sit the next guests.
My coworkers and I went to lunch at Paik's Noodle. The parking lot is tiny, so good early to get a spot. The service is friendly, attentive, and all-around great smiles. Beef Jajangmyeon / Meat Blackbean Sauce Noodle (4/5). New-ish menu items. Gunmandu / Fried Dumpling (3/5). Tangsuyuk / Fried Pork with Sweet & Sour Sauce (4/5) - the portion size was large. The pork had a nice fry and crunch to it. Another great meal at Paik's.
It's a good spot for quick and easy dinner with very large portions. I'd classify it as fast food, so not the most refined tasting. Liked the jajangmyeon but there was much more sauce and noodles than meant and veggies. Sweet and sour pork was not my favorite.

I went to eat here with my dad and wanted to try the seafood stirfry noodles and that was super yummy. My favorite is their stir-fried noodles with seafood--such a generous portion at a reasonable price makes it totally worth it. The flavors are bold, with a strong umami punch--probably MSG, but either way, it's delicious. I highly recommend it. The noodles are perfectly chewy and not overcooked. Their tangsuyuk, or sweet-and-sour fried pork, is another popular choice. You can dip the pork separately to keep it crispy, which I prefer, rather than drowning it in sauce. I also had to try their Jjamppong, the spicy seafood noodle soup. Honestly, it didn't quite match the flavor punch of the stir-fried noodles, and I wish it had been spicier--it was a bit mild for my taste. I would give this place a 3.5 star, rounding up.
there is no san carlos yelp page, so i'm directing this review of paik's noodle to here. despite their namesake and what they seem to be known for, i feel like paik's noodle is so average and normal for jajangmyeon. its supposed to be a korean chinese fusion but i feel like they just end up skimping on both cuisines to create a dish i'm not sure feels familiar to either cuisine. the noodles are chewy and have a good texture, but the sauce relies much too heavily on the onions and random other added veggies than the natural fermeted savory umami of black beans. i hope to be impressed another time!
Ordered a large jajangmyeon and a chili shrimp. The chili shrimp was a delicious blend of sweet and tangy, with a wonderful crunch on the outside. The jajangmyeon was amazing, the noodles were perfectly cooked, not too hard but not too soft. The black bean sauce coated the noodles very well when mixed, and the pork mixed in provided a very savory taste to each bite. Definitely my favorite place for jajangmyeon!

The parking lot is small and so is the restaurant. We ordered Jajangmyeon, Meat Jajangmyeon, and Cream Shrimp. The Jajangmyeon was super tasty and easy on the palette. It seemed like there wasn't a lot of meat in the meal, but good thing we ordered the Meat Jajangmyeon, which cost an additional $3. The Cream Shrimp was creamy and tender too, reminiscent of honey walnut shrimp. The restaurant is crowded and lively. You can hear K-pop music and other diners chatting when you're eating. Overall, our meals were flavorful, easy on the palette, and affordable. I would recommend this spot if you're looking for noodles in the area!

We came around 2ish and ended up parking on the street near the restaurant. We ordered a regular Jajangmyeon and Jjamppong, and mandu which was enough for two people. All the dishes were so delicious and the price was very reasonable for the amount you get. Great service all around. Food came out quick and the servers are always coming by with water.

A no thrills Korean restaurant specializing in their black bean sauce rice/noodles. We ordered: Fried Dumplings - minced pork and vegetables dumplings deep fried to perfection. Crunchy, meaty and just need a dousing of vinegar. Jajang Rice - rice covered in shrimp egg omelette with the black bean jajang sauce on the side. The omelette was done right, not dry, but the black bean jajang sauce was really what made the dish. Beef Jjamppong - noodle soup with beef slices and mixed vegetables. Comforting bowel of needles with thinly sliced beef and cabbage. Jajangmyeon - their signature noodles with black bean sauce. Very umami and the noodles were done just right. Cheap (for nowadays) and good food, what else can you ask for?

I also love that they provide everything you need at the table, from scissors and extra bowls to plenty of pickled radish. Their jajangmyeon is somehow much easier to mix than versions I've had elsewhere, with the sauce coating the noodles evenly without too much effort. The noodles themselves have the perfect consistency with just the right amount of chew, giving you that satisfying bite every time. It's simple, comforting, and consistently hits the spot whenever I'm craving jajangmyeon. Definitely a place I'd recommend if you're in the area and looking for a solid bowl!

Been visiting Paik's and absolutely love this place since I've been introduced to it. Glad there's one in SoCal and in the Bay. It's a reliable Korean cuisine spot. It's a good price for everything, making it worth the money. The portions are so large that it's ideal for family style or left overs to save for yourself. Absolutely delicious food!! Be careful of the spicy foods. While delicious, it adds both the kick of flavor and heat.

Paik's Noodle has multiple locations around the Bay Area and it's about the same experience at every location I've visited. I ordered Jajangmyeon and Jjamppong. The noodles for both dishes have a pleasantly chewy bounce to them. They are thick, satisfying, and cooked perfectly right. The Jajangmyeon's black bean sauce was savory with a touch of sweetness and contains peas, onions, and pork. The Jjamppong has a spicy seafood broth with squid, mussels, pork, and veggies. Every meal comes with pickled yellow radish on the side to help cut through the richness of the meal. Service is not what you come here for. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated and a part of that was because they skipped our name on the waitlist. They claimed they called it, but we were standing less than 15 feet away from the front door and never heard a thing. The music the restaurant was playing outside didn't help. Once sat inside, it is a turn-and-burn operation. Food is ordered, dropped off, payment is collected, and nothing more. Again, don't go here for the service, go for the noodles. The atmosphere is casual and bit cramped. It has a cafeteria-like feel inside and can get a little noisy. Parking can be tricky especially when busy since they share a small parking lot with neighboring businesses. Bottomline, Paik's Noodle is good for a quick and solid bite but that's about it. read more

I've been to Paik's Noodle several times and have also tried locations in other cities! I forgot who originally recommended this place to me, but I'm glad they did Their prices are super good and their food is consistently good. I get the jajangmyeon ($10.95 for a small) every time, mostly because the noodle texture is TOP TIER. The noodles are thick, chewy, and springy, and they pair really well with the jajang (black bean) sauce. There are also plenty of ingredients mixed into the sauce, although I find it a little salty sometimes. The tangsuyuk (sweet & sour pork, $15.95) is super crispy, and I really liked the tangy sauce with it. I personally prefer dipping the pieces in the sauce so they stay crispy, but you can also pour the sauce over if that's your preference! The restaurant can get pretty busy on weekend evenings, with waits usually around 10-30 minutes. There's plaza parking available nearby. Would definitely recommend if you like or want to try jajangmyeon! read more

Love love love the stir fried noodles here. There may be a wait, but it is worth it for their piping hot noodles. Orders come out very quickly. Service is fast and they turn over the tables quickly without you feeling rushed. This allows the wait list to move relatively quickly. Prices are so reasonable too! read more
This Korean chain specializing in jajangmyeon is owned by celebrity chef/entrepreneur Paik Jong-won (one of the Culinary Class Wars judges). On our first visit, we tried Jajangmyeon (Noodles with a savory Black Bean Sauce, Pork and Vegetable) and chili shrimp. The good: the noodle texture was perfection! Chewy, bouncy, and craveable with the black bean sauce. The sauce itself was not very complex. We also tried the chili shrimp. While the shrimp were cooked perfectly-plump and juicy-the sauce was overly sweet without much heat or nuance. Upon seating, each table is provided a dish of pickled veggies. On a Friday night, we had a short wait. The line got longer as the night went on. Open, casual dining area. Efficient service. Reasonable prices. The freshly made noodles and savory black bean sauce are so good. Best Jjajangmyeon in NorCal imo. For $13, it's a high quality and perfectly portioned bowl of delicious Korean noodles that hit the spot. The chili paste is actually insanely spicy so I kind of don't recommend it; it coats your mouth in chili spice, so you cant enjoy the delicious black bean sauce. Service was great: we got our orders taken down quickly, free water refills, and our check when we were done eating. Parking lot is pretty small, but there's plenty of street parking nearby. read more
I came here with friends. I ordered the tangsuyuk, meat jajangmyeon, and meat jjampong. It came out within 10 minutes. I enjoyed the tangsuyuk and meat jajangmyeon the most. The sweet and sour sauce with the fried pork is heavenly. The meat jajangmyeon was sweet and tasty. Wish it had more meat though. The meat jjampong I didn't like because the soup broth had a very strong seafood taste to it. This is a great place for dates, family meals, or hangout with friends! Go-to spot for jjamppong and jajangmyeon! This place is always packed and there's always a line outside. The parking lot is very smal land it's always full, but the plaza across the street usually has available parking spaces. I've been getting the jjamppong here more frequently than jajangmyeon but both are really great options! I love the seafood flavor in the jjamppong and the noodles are chewy. I wanted to try Paik's because of the show Culinary Class Wars. .We order take out via Uber Eats. Jajangmyeon is definitely spot-on in terms of flavor. The noodles are also nice and el dente. We ordered a large and it was enough to share between 3 people. Sweet and sour pork -- the pork was nice and crunchy but the meat was a bit dry. Chili Shrimp -- also deep fried with a light batter. The Chili sauce is really a sweet and sour sauce. We also tried the Jjamppong and it is filled with seafood. I love the spiciness of the broth. Jajangmyeon is definitely the tastiest item out of everything we ordered. read more

Such comforting flavors that I always come back to. My go-tos are jjamppong and the chili shrimp. The complimentary yellow pickled radishes provide acidity, sweetness, and a crunch. The waitlist can get long but service is very efficient. Most customers are there to eat then bounce. read more
I love that no matter where in the world I go that has a Paik's Noodle, that I can expect to be full and happy by the time I exit. In this case, I was very pleased with my meal. My meal in Santa Clara felt like a meal in Seoul. read more
Arrived around 5pm on a Friday and were seated immediately. By the time we left at 5:40, there was already a wait, so timing definitely matters. Highly recommend the stir-fried jajangmyeon, mandu, and tangsuyuk. We tried the chili shrimp this time, but we'll probably stick with our usual tangsuyuk next visit. The jajangmyeon is incredibly slurpable, rich, and flavorful--true comfort food that always hits the spot. My husband and I somehow end up coming back every time a new season of Culinary Class Wars comes out, thanks to Chef Paik. Parking can be tough during peak hours, so I'd suggest coming earlier to beat the dinner rush. read more
This was my first time trying Jajangmyeon (black bean noodles), and I'm officially in love with this dish! The flavor was rich and savory I have to show this place to my fam! I'll be craving this for a long time. The Jajangmyeon: 10/10. Highly recommend if it's your first time here! No joke, it's soooooo goood!!!!! Sweet and Sour Pork (Tangsuyuk) We ordered this with the sauce on the side to keep the pork nice and crispy, and it was incredibly delicious. A must try!!! I also wanted to try Jjamppong but unfortunately, the spicy seafood noodle soup wasn't really for me and didn't hit the mark like the other dishes did. The service here is quick and fast. Even though they stay busy, the food comes out hot and the staff is efficient. Aside from the Jjamppong, everything else was phenomenal. I've heard this place has the best jajangmyeon in Koreatown, and it definitely lives up to the hype. We ordered the version with seafood, and it came with a bunch of different veggies that added a nice textural profile to the dish (baby corn, green onions, onions, wood ear). The soybean sauce had a more subtle soybean flavor compared to others I've had, but was sweeter and more smoky. The dish contained some whole dried chili peppers, which added a low burning flavor to the dish. The shrimp and calamari that were in the noodles were cooked perfectly, light and bouncy and very fresh tasting. The noodles themselves were soft and bouncy, while still having a nice pull to them. We also ordered the sweet and sour pork. It was a fatty pork chop cut, with a really light batter that was semi crispy. I liked how they served the sauce on the side, so it wouldn't get too soggy. The sauce was sweet, but had a more vinegar forward flavor. read more

The food here is pretty decent. This is my first time trying black bean noodles and they gave a huge portion. I was expecting more flavor, but it was still good. We also ordered a seafood soup which was delicious and I shared it with three people. The service was fairly quick. The restaurant itself is quite cozy and clean. read more
12/10/2025 I feel like I come here at least once per yr. Inside are still the same old. Very friendly staff. Jajangmyeon was delicious as ever. Still a pretty good portion for the size. This time, we ordered the spicy shrimp, which was new for me. The spicy shrimp dish was decent. The sauce was pretty spicy but a good spice. I don't really like the chips in my dish but my friend liked it. The shrimp was decently sized and nicely coated. Overall a great spot to dine in and iv been recommending it to my friends who also think it's great. read more
After watching Culinary Wars, I was highly motivated to try Paik's Noodle. I think I harbored too high of expectations because of that, as the quality fell a bit short. We ordered the Meat JaJangmyeon and Jjamppong. So their noodle texture is definitely impressive and unique; perfectly al dente, chewy, and glossy. It tastes like some sort of tapioca noodles. However, the flavors of both the JaJangmyeon and Jjamppong did not follow the same upwards trajectory. The JaJangmyeon needed a bit more salt to me. I've had a better tasting one at a local Korean mom and pop joint. I liked the Jjamppong better than the JaJangmyeon, but I felt as if it just tasted like a spicy Korean noodle soup with a hint of seafood; nothing extremely distinctive. Not to mention, the seafood inside the Jjamppong was minimal and the mussels were really tough. We came at an off hour so there wasn't a wait nor was it hard to find parking, but I can definitely see how it could be problematic. There were also a lot of flies flying around. I do still want to try their stir-fried JaJangmyeon and tangsuyuk, but having tried the two classics already and not being super awed by them does kind of set the precedent. read more
Hidden gem for some Korean food in santa clara. I recently found out they have other locations as well. The restaurant is in a small complex with limited parking. Its popularity speaks for itself with the long waiting list but the line moves fast. I came here on a weekend evening but had to wait for only 10-15 minutes. The service is pretty quick and the servers are very friendly. The menu is pretty limited here of you are looking for some variety. You definitely must try the jajangmyeon here! I liked the texture of the noodles and the flavor of the black bean sauce. I would like to try other versions of jajangmyeon. I also got their cream shrimp but it didn't hit the spot. The batter was not coated well and it wasn't crispy. The shrimp was fresh but it wasn't cooked well and the sauce wasn't that great. This dish was a big miss. I would come back to repeat the jajangmyeon and try some of their other dishes. read more
Jajangmyeon - Noodles are very chewy. May not be for everyone. Thought the sauce was a bit too sweet but it was still pretty good. 3.5/5 Sweet and Sour Pork (tangsuyuk) - This was just okay. I've had better. 3/5 Bokkeummyeon (stir fried noodle with oyster sauce - It had good wok hei (iykyk) and flavor. 4/5 Overall, decent spot for quick take out. Are there any gluten-free substitute for the noodles?
I don't believe they have any rice noodles but the #8 Tangsuyuk is coated in rice flour
