    3. Beef Tofu Soup is very good
    Victor L.

Come here for their soup and seafood pancake and you'll know what I mean. Everything else is standard. Banchan dishes are OK. Nothing really stands out but that's not a bad thing. In addition to the soup and pancake, we ordered 1 bbq dish and a bibimbap. Food (4 stars) + Beef stew/soup is flavorful and we got the one with ramen like noodles. They have some ham/sausage like meat and plenty of cabbage. It taste a lot like a kimchi stew. + Seafood pancake has a nice crisp and perfect inner texture. Good amount of variety of seafood toppings (eg. squid). Dip it in their sauce and you'll want another slice of pie goodness. + Bibimbap is OK but a bit troublesome when eating with a group of friends. It's a mix of meat, veggies and rice inside a hot stone bowl. I'd save that for maybe a single order for yourself if that's what you're in the mood for. ~ Galbi bbq is a sweet marinated short rib that is OK but doesn't really stand out compared to other places. I feel the meat is more lean here. I like a little more marbled meat for my KBBQ. ~ Banchan are the little side dishes that come with most KBBQ places. You get fish cake, kimchi, glass noodles, and a couple other little dishes. It's fine here. Service (5 stars) + Smalliish restaurant so the servers are right there at your beckons call + Water in jug is always full and the water taste extra good in the metal cups Ambiance (3.5 stars) - Tables are too small where we sat and I was elbow to elbow with my friend That's about it guys. Hope you appreciate my review!

Absolutely delicious like always. Had to wait ~20 minutes but was totally worth it. I was salivating knowing how good the food is. Sat near the tv's so had music videos as entertainment. Hustling and bustling place but you still feel at ease.

Got takeout so no notes on ambiance but got great service. Seafood pancake is heavy on the dough. The seafood tofu soup is great value and good flavor but nothing crazy. I got a combo and wish I didn't because the beef slices were like styrofoam squares and all stuck together. I got the spicy and the spice was definitely manageable.

Tiny mom and pop restaurant serving some delish Korean eats; I'd say they are mainly known for the soups. There is plenty of parking available in Pacific Rim Plaza II. We came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The place was packed, luckily we got seated at the last table available. You can tell the folks here are passionate and hardworking. We saw ajumma running around taking care of every table and even brought over the heavy stone pot soup. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. #KoreanEats: ~ Ban chan - 4/5 One of my favourite parts of going to a Korean restaurant. The Ban Chan was good here, there was one I wasn't familiar with. Some sort of May based veggies. I wasn't a fan, but the rest were brilliant. ~ Seafood Pancake - 4/5 This was one of the better Seafood Pancakes I had in a minute. Not too oily or too crispy just right. I do wish it had more balanced seafood distribution tho... ~ Budae Jjigae (Army Stew) - 4/5 One of the most popular and well known Korean dishes. This was hearty and filling with a nice kick to it. Almost a bit much for one person to finish if you get an appetizer as well. It stays hot for a while, so be careful I'll definitely be back to try some other dishes, especially in the winter.

This restaurant has been on my radar since it opened. Food and reviews looked promising but 2/3 of our dishes lacked flavor. We ordered: Seafood pancake: this was the best thing we ordered. Good flavor without the sauce, a good amount of seafood. Nicely fried. Hot stone bibimbap: first off, there was no crunchy rice at the bottom at all, that's the part I look forward to most. The dish overall lacked flavor, all the ingredients were pretty bland. Tofu soup combo: This did not taste like the typical tofu soup. It really was lacking a deep umami flavor. It did have a lot fair amount of tofu and meat and some seafood. There was a good amount of banchans. I like the variety. The cucumber kimchi was refreshing. Service was standard. Restaurant seating is limited and cozy

Soooooo yummy OMG. I came before and everything was so good I had to come back! This time we got their Seafood Pancake, Combination Tofu Soup, and their Galbi! Everything was amazinggg!! So so so yummy! Their sides are so good, my favorites have to be the rice cake and the japchae but everything is really good! For the combination soup I added ramen and cheese and it was so good, flavors were amazing and it came out sizzling out the bowl! Last time I tried the crab tofu soup and it was super tasty as well! Their Galbi is always cooked to perfection and it pairs so well with the rice! Their seafood pancake is amazing, and they give you a sauce to dip it in! The service is wonderful and they are super attentive! A wonderful place all around!

There's usually a wait, and you'll need to add your name to the clipboard outside. The space is on the smaller side, so it's not ideal for large parties. The staff is very friendly and never rushes you, which makes for a relaxed dining experience. One of my favorite parts is the delicious refillable side dishes. The tofu soup and meat were fairly average. Even the mild soup has a noticeable kick, so I wouldn't recommend medium unless you're comfortable with spicy food. I'd give this place 4 stars overall, as my soup tasted a bit watery and could have used a stronger base. I would definitely come back again!

If you're looking for authentic Korean food, stop by Shin's Tofu! The interior is a bit smaller with limited seating so there can be a wait. Parking can also be limited during the busy weekends. As for food, my go to is the tofu soup. It is comforting to eat when you just want to feed your soul and nourish your body. Their galbi marinated short rib is also really good. Lots of flavor and good char taste to it. They have a good selection of banchan, which they will easily refill once they notice you're running low. This is a small business and everyone there have been so nice and friendly. If you're ever craving Korean food, especially tofu soup, definitely stop by here. It's worth it!

SOUP WAS SOO DELICIOUS. We both ordered the combination, spicy tofu soup and it was one of the best tofu soups I've had. It came with a variety of seafood, including shrimp, clams, mussels, and octopus, and beef too. 'Spicy' was a good spice level personally, and the sides were SO DELICIOUS. I enjoyed the japchae, which I normally don't, and kimchi was perfect. The wait can take a minute, as it is a very small restaurant and only clipboard waitlist. I believe we waited about 30 minutes for 2 on Saturday night. I will be back!!

One of my favorite tofu houses in the South Bay! Located in Berryessa, Shin's Tofu is a small and intimate restaurant that serves a variety of tofu soup and other Korean dishes. Parking is not very difficult but can be when the plaza is crowded. There can be a waitlist at times but going around off hours prevents any waiting. The workers are very kind and attentive when it comes to side dishes and water refills. If there's ANYTHING you must get here, it is the fried potstickers. These are utter perfection! Perfectly crispy and tastes amazing with the sauce. The tofu soup is incredibly filling and will leave you on the verge of a food coma. If you're stopping during the summer, make sure to try their naengmyun (cold noodles)! I haven't found a better deal for naengmyun in the Bay yet.

Was in the area and this restaurant popped up in my search of places to eat in the area. It's a small restaurant but was packed when we got there. Having said that, the wait was not long. There's a waitlist board by the door for you to put your name in. We waited about 5 minutes. Service was friendly. We ordered the kimchee jige - kimchee stew with pork and tofu. While we didn't specify the spicy level, it was just perfect. Also had the hot stone beef bulgogi dupbap- it's like a bimbibap but with no vegetables. Both dishes were delicious and portions were a good size. We shared both. Our order also came with some side dishes - all very tasty. Will definitely come back here again if we are in the area.

    1. Hot Stone Bibimbap Bowl was tasty ad usual except for that veggie in the top left corner had some very bitter pieces

I first had Shin's Tofu at a friend gathering. I don't actually remember which tofu soup we ordered, but I remember thinking this is not bad for a very close to me Korean option. Fast forward to this year where I introduced it to my mom and she has picked it for Mother's Day as well as her birthday meal. Our go-to's include the hot stone bibimbap and the seafood pancake. Both are plentiful in their ingredients and taste fresh. Sometimes the pancake is a little soggy from take-out but my mom prefers a softer bite nowadays. We also enjoy their banchan which we mix in with our own rice and protein to make another delicious tasting bowl the next day. Recently I tried the Bibim Naengmyun which was delicious as well on a hot summer day with an addicting spicy broth/sauce. We actually haven't ordered any tofu soups, but when the weather gets colder again we may add that to our rotation and will have to update again then.

Delicious tofu soup, seafood pancake and banchan! Was really impressed with the amount of meat in the soup and seafood in the pancake. Excellent and quick service. Would highly recommend.

The reason why I came over here fairly recently was because I visited cousins and cousin in law that live near to give them Valkyries shirts and other shirts they'll send to the Philippines in over a month, and since they plan to be sending clothes over while telling me about the place, I gave them my Kate Martin and Kaitlyn Chen jerseys for the trouble as I needed to make room for my Veronica Burton jersey, which I wore when I met up with them, and my upcoming violet Gabby Williams one. (Go Valks!) The noteworthy parts the place has are the real good amount of banchan dishes, bibimbap and the short rib, the spicy one in particular. While I probably will not visit the place again anytime soon, at least I can keep this place in mind if I want Korean food without driving to Santa Clara. There's plenty of parking behind the spot. As you come in, the place looks simple, but it works. You have the adorable ajumma/ajumni to take your order. The stuff I ordered. I had water, banana milk and kimchi fried rice. Since I was the only one that had more than 1 drink, I told my cousins and cousin in law the banana milk, and they did bring up how on occasion, you see the drink in K-dramas. Of course, we laughed on how my parents never got into K-dramas and while I'm at it, Filipino dramas. Oh well. Oh, there's no doubt the food is good, and the place is too legit (to quit) as I did hear Korean from a different table. As I typed up, there are plenty of banchan dishes. Not Los Angeles amount of banchan dishes, but there are plenty of banchan dishes never the less. The kimchi fried rice dish may be simple, but it does give off that homey feel. Can't forget how Big actually is affordable, the big reason why my cousins and cousin in law like the place so much. The reason why the place doesn't get a perfect score. The place would have received a perfect score if, the major matter I remember here, the place has mul naengmyun (my favorite Korean dish). Originally, I wanted Japanese ramen before my cousins mentioned this place, and I was ready to pivot to having mul naengmyun, but I was told that the place doesn't carry the noodle dish. (Being a very good and logical dish to eat for at the very least half of the year in a city like here San Jose is the reason why of all of the Korean dishes, I like mul naengmyun the most.) There probably is one or two minor flaws I already forgot, but the lack of mul naengmyun is the dead on reason why I don't give the place a perfect score. On a side note, it's nice that I told the group what banana milk and mul naengmyun are, and by doing so, they learn something new regarding eating at Korean spots just in case. BigSpoon is a good spot. While it may not be as iconic as the places in Santa Clara, it is a good spot never the less. It does a good job at being a Korean spot for an area that is more so known for Mexican food. If you live on the east side, head on over here because the place should get your attention. +/BigSpoon is brilliant and spiffy because it has a terrific combination of good simple food, affordability and wonderful service. -/If only the place also has mul naengmyun.

However, we were able to order our food ahead of time. The atmosphere of the restaurant was bustling and noisy, a super fun and casual spot. Our dishes arrived minutes after we sat down, which was impressive. There was also a variety of delicious side dishes, with various types of kimchi. The nine of us split two braised beef short rib dishes - and we were struggling to finish it all. The portion size is massive, which makes sense since it's a pretty penny. We waited until 5:20 and they still weren't serving, so we ended up leaving. Our most recent visit was the last straw. They only offered two types of banchan (not even kimchi), and they were out of all dishes that included meat or beef. It was surprising for a Korean restaurant to not have Korean BBQ or short ribs available. My seafood tofu soup barely had any seafood, and I had to point out to the waiter that there was no shrimp at all. He later returned with a cheap frozen seafood mix and said they use a seafood mix, which was disappointing considering the higher quality seafood they used to serve (including head-on shrimp). They also did not serve the usual purple rice this time -- instead we were given dry white rice that seemed reheated. There was only one server handling all the tables and cleaning, so service was slow. It's disappointing because the quality used to be much better.
