This place was close to work and we tended to eat the AYCE sushi next door but we wanted hot pot. Our group of 4 upgraded to the premium menu which lets us get 3 broths and Wagyu and lamb. You get 6 orders of meat each round and they do not skimp on the meat portions. The meat was absolutely delicious and melted in our mouths. The side bar give us a pretty good selection and they had kojac noodles which is a plus. We got the sukiyaki, Thai tom yum, and spicy miso medium spice. The Thai was the favorite with good spice and tang. I loved the sukiyaki and the miso was also really good. Service is fast and attentive picking up plates and letting us order. AYCE shabu shabu, count me in!! We went here with empty stomachs and I had high hopes coming in. I think for me, the food was decent but I didn't leave feeling compelled enough to come back. We came for a Saturday dinner and fortunately, the restaurant had tons of seating available. Initial impressions, I felt a bit hesitant because the tables felt unclean and the menus we were given were greasy lol. But alas - we continued to order anyways! We tried the sukiyaki broth and spammed the beef toro and beef chuck. I thought both were good - wasn't too fatty nor lean. I appreciated how it was cut very thinly. The sukiyaki definitely landed on the sweeter side compared to other sukiyaki broths I've tried. They had a nice veggie station - everything seemed to be well-organized and cleanly prepared there. The service here is great, got checked on every time they pass by to make sure we have everything we need and if we wanted to order more meat. For AYCE, most places don't check in or remind you to order more meat but here, they make sure you have what you need. Big props to them. I love the self serve veggie/topping bar. So easy to grab exactly what you want. I got the Kiwami AYCE both times which is $44 per person for dinner. Its worth it since you're able to get the premium meat (American Wagyu, Australian Wagyu, Pork Toro, Australian Lamb). My favorites were definitely the two Wagyu, so fatty! I love that the pot is split into 3 so you can try many soup base. Favorites include Triple Garlic Tonkatsu and Tom Yum. Pesto and truffle were good as well but overtime felt very oily/heavy. Party of 4 on a Wednesday at 5pm right when they opened, no wait & not busy. It only started to get busy when we were close to finish, which was around 7:15-7:30. Since it wasn't busy, the place felt spacious. Nice place to catch up with friends over good food! We tried the the following broths: garlic butter ebi tonkotsu, truffle sukiyaki, and ebi daiginjo tonkotsu. My favorite was the truffle sukiyaki. I felt that garlic butter was too oily after you eat it too much. I would like to try the tripple garlic tonkotsu next time. We got to try all the meats except the chicken. My favorites were the beef toro & the pork toro! perfect amount of fattyness. I enjoyed all the options for the sauce & veggie bar. So far i have nothing but great experiences here. We typically try a place a couple times before we start bringing others, and others now we will bring. I find that the cuts of meats here are very well cut, beautiful marbling, and look very fresh. I didn't expect much at first, but the cuts were really amazing. Most of the time, hot pot places that open soups are hit or miss. Some places soup is very flavorful and honor the style of hot pot, others are basically water.. I honestly thought it was going to be water here, but the soups we had so far had decent flavor, mostly the Kiwami Truffle Sukiyaki. It isn't very premium, but it does have lots of flavor. We also get the Garlic Butter Ebi soup and a random one. Some of the random ones still light on some flavor, but the best thing about hot pot, is it has a sauce bar to make up for that. And with the sauce bar, theres also vegetables and some knickknacks to add to your soup. There's dumplings, fish balls, and some noodles. The menu is smaller than most but the quality does make up for it. The waiters and waitresses all are very courteous and polite, ready to get anything you need at a moments notice. 5 starts for service! I've been here before when it was still a Chinese Hot Pot restaurant, and mostly it hasn't changed interior-wise. Same layout, still tables that can hold intimate parties of 2 and up to what i saw was about 10. Its clean throughout, no sticky floors or tables. But it is one of the newer AYCE hot pot places on the block, so future is yet to be seen. The food was what you'd expect from an AYCE shabu place, nothing to write home about. Standard meats and veggies and some "creative" broths that don't all feel quite worth it. The ebi garlic tonkatsu and truffle sukiyaki both didn't really taste of their stated ingredients, so honestly the non premium menu is a better deal (the beef toro is good enough meat versus the American/ Australian "Wagyu" which were hardly marbled... see photo). That said, my friends liked the fries and curry rice, and they also said the pesto broth was good, so maybe will try those next time if I ever come back, and would only return for the lunch price. There was a female server who acted rude and annoyed anytime you asked her for anything, so that's another deterrent from coming back. First time trying this place and Japanese Shabu Shabu is an interesting concept . The lunch for premium sauces and wagyu selections at $36/pp is quite affordable on the weekday. Fortunately for us it's 4th of July weekend so Friday is still not considered a holiday. We arrived at opening exactly 11:30am and was greeted and ordered immediately (90 minutes buffet) of course we were full in less than an hour. The restaurant was full within the hour. Out of the three broths, my bf and I mutually agreed that our favorites were tom yom (1st place), sukiyaki (2nd), and then the tonkotsu as our least favorite. It was a uniq flavor, and while it might be for someone it just wasn't for us. We ordered the Australian Wagyu, beef toro and American Wagyu for all rounds we did. Meet was delicious, no complaints there! Sauce bar to me was just enough for my personal go to dipping sauce, I can understand why some other people say that it is too basic. I do think a spicy chili oil would be good to add. No complaints on service either, food was always on the table, dirty dishes were always taken away immediately. My boyfriend and I have had a hard time finding a good ayce shabu spot since our favorite, Taichi, is a bit far for us. The not so good: 1) barely any decor in this space 2) all the precooked food like karaage, curry udon are all sub-par. Either over fried or not flavorful 3) the vegetables (self service) selection was poor and not fresh When I went, their soda machine's ice maker was out of service so there was only warm soda or warm water. Since the deal was supposed to be all you can drink soft drinks AND FOOD, they should have offered a discount or some type of compensation, but nope, nothing. The ice machine was broken the day I visited, so we were stuck drinking warm soda the entire time--which already put a damper on the experience. Overall... a really affordable all-you-can-eat shabu shabu option in the Bay Area! $34 for lunch on a Saturday is great for some high quality cuts like Australian Wagyu, Pork Toro, and more. Only rice and ramen noodles were available carb-wise! Sauce bar was also just okay. Nothing super interesting to note... it was a little under maintained though. My biggest gripe is service, which I don't think were the servers fault. They just seemed understaffed. Our meat came pretty quickly at least. Be prepared to wait when coming in. My friends and I came around 12:30PM on a Saturday and we waited for 10 minutes before a worker came and acknowledged/greeted us. We tried to flag someone down to check in and see how long the wait was, but the workers would just look our way and go on with their own things. I understand that it may be busy and there may be no tables, but a "I'll be with you in a minute" or an quick acknowledgment would have been nice because this was our first time here and we didn't know if/when we would be sat. I also understand that it's pretty new, so they may be understaffed and people may be training. I'm sure it will get better once they get more staff on board. I loved the pesto and thought it was super unique, and it was great with the wagyu beef. The ebi garlic butter tonkotsu was ok, but half of my table liked it. I couldn't taste much truffle in the truffle sukiyaki but the sukiyaki part was still yummy. Meats were all good quality but our favorite was definitely wagyu beef. Service for ordering more meat and appetizers was good. The veggie bar felt a little messy, the way the veggies were in bowls and not in rectangle trays, but it still served its purpose. I came here for dinner with my family as a party of 5 to check out their soft opening. The restaurant is a lot smaller than expected so at the time of our arrival, Shabu Shabu Kiwami was already filling up. At 90 minute increments, you and your party have the option of AYCE CLASSIC priced @ $36/ person or the AYCE KIWAMI @ $44/ person. We decided on the Kiwami & went with the Tripple Garlic Tonkotsu broth + Kanto Style Sukiyaki. Dinner started off slow. REALLY REALLY SLOW. Some of the staff was clearly very new and was not able to place orders while the elder lady had issues understanding which caused for the ordering process to be delayed. The sliced meats took a really long time to come out. Our table along with other patrons sat around waiting for the plates of meat that never seemed to come out. The vegetable and sauce bar was left empty for long periods of time and we needed to personally request staff to replenish. Our fries came out cold but the beef curry rice was enjoyed. Broth amounts given aren't plentiful and with the constant bubbling + boiling, the soup gets SALTY fast. Don't be shy about asking for the pot to be topped off with some hot water. Shout out to the younger gentleman who stepped out from the back and really helped things move along. He worked multiple tables and did it all with a smile. Every request made was responded with "I gotchu, Boss." I'd like to assume he held some kind of management role and boy did he manage things well. Meats eventually began to flow and the lamb was absolutely a highlight. Again, this is their soft opening so there are plenty of kinks that need to be worked out. Speed is the first thing and then getting the staff to be on board and be on the same page was another. Depending on who is serving, they will either grab you refills while other's direct you into getting them yourselves. Not a big deal but the protocol was just confusing and not straightforward. Cuts of meat were great and the options were plentiful. The fresh udon noodles were a nice touch but I wouldn't recommend the " fresh shrimp" that didn't seem to be very fresh. 3 stars overall. I'd happily come back just for quality meats but the long idle time where you're waiting for food to come out just doesn't go well with a dinner that is capped off to a specific timeframe. Hopefully the kinks are figured out a lot sooner than later because Shabu Shabu Kiwami has potential to be so much more!! read more

Just a heads up, they're still in the midst of their soft opening so I think giving them grace as they're still figuring out the flow might be helpful to them during this time. Had a waiting list (maybe 10-15 minutes) on Tuesday night, not too bad but they do accept joining the list through yelp as well. Their "exclusive" option is worth getting. Choosing three soup base and 4 different premium meats on top of their classic option. Soup base: From AYCE Kiwami (exclusive): Garlic Butter Ebi Tonkotsu From AYCE Kiwami (exclusive): Truffle Sukiyaki From AYCE Classic: Spicy Goma Aka Miso All were great and would reorder. Appetizer: Beef Curry Udon, a bit underwhelming. I could skip this next time. Ordered all four the exclusive cuts plus two classics. Exclusive: American Waygu, Australian Wagyu Full Blood M8+, Kurobuta Berkshire Pork Toro, Australian Lamb Shoulder Classic: Black Angus Beef Toro & Prime Angus Beef Chuck My top 3: American Waygu, Australian Wagyu Full Blood M8, & Black Angus Beef Toro. They had a self serve bar with sauce, veggies, mushrooms, eggs both chicken and quail, instant noodles etc.. My only suggestion to them would be to label all their self serve items. Nothing was labeled so we had to guess just based on looks. The obvious items like garlic, green onions, cilantro, chili peppers.. were fine but guessing what's in the sauce bottles, sesame oil and soy sauce? The greens were a bit sad/dull/wilted, cabbage needs more rinsing but maybe this will get better over time. Mushrooms and other items were good. Overall, the food and service were excellent. One thing I forgot to mention is the udon broth. It was so good that I genuinely wish they would add it to the regular broth menu. My top favorites here: - American Wagyu - Australian Wagyu - Triple garlic tonkotsu broth over the garlic butter ebi. Although the sauce bar and the veggie and sides selection could definitely be improved, I come here for the meats. Even though I made a sauce, I barely used it and did not feel like I needed it. We were eating next door and Discovered this new shabu shabu! Decided to try since they had udon and curry as sides for my kiddos! They had different broths for you to choose from and there were different options of the broth depending on the package you chose. Also they had Wagyu meats for the hot pot and salad bar with sauces and instant noodle Everything was delicious and we walked out stuffed! Such an underrated spot to get AYCE shabu in the Milpitas area! We came here after seeing this place was trending on Yelp and decided to try it out. Walking in we were immediately greeted and seated by their kind staff. They personally came by our table and broke down their menu and how everything works. We decided to opted in the Kiwami option! The soups we got were the garlic butter tonkotsu, truffle sukiyaki, and the extra spicy tonkotsu. All 3 choices were super delicious and were very rich in flavor! One feedback is that the extra spicy did not have a kick to it so we had to accommodate by adding more chili oil to the broth. They also offer a sauce and veggie bar that is self serve which offered so much variety The cuts are a bit limited here but I highly suggest ordering the American Wagyu and the Australian Wagyu. The pieces that was given to us were super huge so you know you are getting your moneys worth. We were really surprised of the variety of appetizers that were given to us compared to other AYCE shabu places The service was top tier, constant water refills and table check ins to make sure we were accommodated to the fullest. Decided to try on a rainy Sunday evening around 6pm and I'm glad we came early. It was BUSY! TLDR -- good pick for AYCE Shabu. Interior has a mom-and-pop feel with friendly staff. Minimal frills. Good broth that had more flavor than other shabu spots. Good cuts of beef, even in the Classic AYCE menu. Would come back but not sure if I'd try the Deluxe (based on value). I'm a simple Shabu lover that mainly needs good meat, good sesame sauce and Napa cabbage to be happy. I would say if you're used to Chinese style hot pot you might be disappointed by the add ons/veggie selection. The karaage was pretty good, decent fry. They've only been open for a month. I would say it shows when it starts to get busy and in turn gets more chaotic amongst staff. The veggie/sauce bar is kinda odd. You have to down into the bar to get the ingredients. 3.5 star My friends and I came in on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and it was pretty crowded. We got the AYCE Kiwami. For soup we got Garlic Butter Ebi Tonkatsu, Truffle Sukiyaki, and Triple Garlic Tonkatsu. My personal favorite was the truffle sukiyaki. Wagyu was very tender, and lamb was my second favorite. Chicken Karaage was also pretty good. Service was great, and servers were very attentive. Atmosphere also great, I love that our table was spacious. The sauce bar was a bit limited with only 2 sauces and decent amount of vegetable choices. As you eat, the broth can be filled with impurities--likely due to the seafood and by the end, we had a full bowl. read more
