Even with the massive holiday line, the manager Claudya and the server Van L (along with the whole crew) provided excellent, fast service, and the food was outstanding, 5* I've been coming to this store weekly since it opened. The broth consistency and meat quality at this location are still top-notch. Every visit, it's fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Upon entering it's always an older heavy set Hispanic woman and a tiny, short young girl running things. Both are rude as hell. Like RUDE. I have seen the older woman get sassy with customers including myself. The short girl who can barely see over the counter, never smiles, never says hi & barely speaks. She walks customers to their table then walks away. Not saying 1 word. Not, have you been here before? This is the process. So and so will be your server they'll be right with you. How is someone like her in food service? Every time I put our name on the wait list I request a booth. It's just more comfortable for us with the kids. The last 2 times we were not given a booth. But tons of open booths are around. As the short girl showed us our non booth table today, mind you we were the 2nd party seated, I asked if we could sit in a booth which was right next to our table. She said the server for that section was not there. Then rudely walked away. Then I kid you not. Less than 10 mins the short girl seats a family in the same booth I asked to sit in. And the waiter of that section had been there since opening. My husband and I were absolutely dumbfounded. Food is still good nothing seems to have changed. Except they did not have spinach or baby bok choy. Which is crazy to not have vegetables that are so abundant. We have never experienced missing veggies in all our yrs going. All the same familiar waiters are there and they're still all great. That aspect of customer service is still 5 stars. The 2 ladies at the front desk are horrible and we will probably decrease our visits because of them. I came to have dinner for a friend's belated birthday celebration. You will only get seated when all of your party is here and you can only sit for 90 minutes. This is an all you can eat place. I got the Original House broth. My stove gas took awhile to boil the soup for some reason as rest of my party had their pot all ready boiled. This happened to me at one other time when I came here and not sure why. Other than waiting longer than expected for my broth soup to boil in order to put ingredients in to cook, everything else was fine. Service was nice. Our nephew gave us a treat! It was a Mothers day weekend and with my birthday and my husband coming up, he was too sweet to include and take us out with the family. Our nephew recommended this place and it did not disappoint! For me, soups are always a great idea. They're always comforting. Especially I love veggies too! I love how big the place is.it's huge, clean and the staff were pleasant with very fast and good service. Parking is not a problem either and their price is pretty reasonable for an AYCE buffet even though it's just mostly boiled meats. It's healthier anyways. I went here on a Wednesday as a part of a group. The restaurant is a large one with tables around and the veggie bar at the centre of the place Everyone has a sort of heating element for the broth that keeps the broth hot/warm per our liking I don't eat meant so the staff adjusted the spicy miso broth and added water to the mix so I was covered with that. The veggie toppings had a wide variety - soft tofu, fried tofu, tofu fish ball, a big range of veggies like - carrots, onions, bok choy, cabbage etc . The food overall was ok - so even if you are vegan person just tagging along or by yourself you should be able to find something for yourself. What I missed was a crispy element - a couple of appetizers options would have been really great to feel included on the tab menu - catering to all the vegans and giving us a chance for the crispy element as well read more

I grew up coming to Shabuya (from when it first opened to now) and this place is still a staple for my family! Meat is cut fresh and the portion sizes for meat were perfect for us. It doesn't seem like a lot on the plate but it adds up! We were a party of 3 and I signed up on the waitlist on Yelp. I love that option since it's always super helpful. We love Shabuya, but we usually go to the one in Concord as it's conveniently located in a plaza/mall, but that location gets really busy and there's always a wait. This was our second time at this location and it was on a weekend so I decided to add us to the waitlist, and when we got there, there was no wait. It was a pretty busy day. It's spacious with ample refills throughout the day. The lighting a dim with natural sunlight during the days The soup and options always hit here and it's always bustling with full tables and bellies apparently. My son does not each much as a 9 year old but is tall enough for full price so it's not worth it for him, but we take him anyway because we love it so much. The service was good and the staff there seem to be more friendly than the Concord location. If you have a huge appetite, this is such a great place and the food is so comforting. I also appreciate the sauce bar. Since it's an AYCE, most people are in and out and some stay a while to get their money's worth. Shabuya is one of my favorite places to go for AYCE hotpot! It's always a fun time, and the servers are always a great vibe. Also super easy to join the waitlist, just do it through Yelp but make sure you're within distance! The location itself is pretty big with parking all around. The eating experience involves choosing your broth, meats (up to 8 per round!), and appetizers if you're interested. My boyfriend and I always get chicken and gyoza. You can then get your noodles, veggies, seafood, and sauces from the self serve area in the middle of the restaurant. Pretty easy to navigate, and everything is so yummy! My personal must-gets are the sukiyaki broth, pork belly, glass noodles, and lots of cabbage and mushrooms! Super filling and hearty! The meats are decent quality, and the selection of veggies and seafood was very satisfactory for the dinner service. I will say that the burners take some time to bring your broth to a boil, so avoid putting too many ingredients in the bowl at the same time. Also a heads up that there's a pretty hefty amount of MSG in the broths, something that I noticed once my meal was over and I was incredibly thirsty lol. (Tip: they allow you to mix their broths too, I had spicy miso and tonkotsu because apparently that's a popular combo). Lots of options for making your own dipping sauce as well. Staff are very friendly and efficient. The restaurant was relatively clean for an AYCE. Quite a number of screaming kids and toddlers on the weekend evening that we were there though... not anything the restaurant could really do about it. read more

It started with just two of us. We had such a great server, Daniel. He made sure to not only check on us but his whole section as well. We tried to order two orders of the Soy Glazed Chicken Karaage, but the runners only brought us one. When Daniel came back around for our second round of meat, we asked him for three orders since we had only received one the first time. I told him those chicken bites are seriously addictive and incredibly flavorful. As we were getting close to our one-hour mark, we asked if it would be possible to add a third person and extend our time a bit. Daniel said he'd have to check with the host since it wasn't super busy, but new parties were still coming in every 10 minutes or so. I told him not to worry too much if it wasn't possible. He came back and let us know he could extend our time by about another half hour on top of what we had left. We really appreciated him making that happen. Thank you so much, Daniel. After we got the bill, we chatted with him for a bit about customer service. My boyfriend used to work at a hot pot place and mentioned that some of the servers half his age didn't work nearly as hard and were more focused on "the gram" and social media, while genuine hospitality seemed almost nonexistent. Daniel shared that he's ## years old and said it's always about balancing business and fun--but having fun in a respectful and professional way. Huge shout out to Daniel for being so attentive and kind. Oh, the food--LOL. I normally get the Spicy Miso broth, but last time I tried a bit of my friend's Sukiyaki and really liked it, so I decided to go with that this time. It was great--I really enjoyed the depth of flavor in the broth. The meats came out very quickly, and I loved that they weren't sliced paper-thin like at some places. I already mentioned our obsession with the Chicken Karaage, but seriously... yes please, more. One of my go to AYCE shabu/hotpot spots! There are limited selection of meats and sides that you can choose from. I usually order all their beef meats (only ones worth ordering). Loved the variety of noodles that were available. Do keep in mind you're able to combine you broths. I usually combine sukiyaki with their tonkotsu. The sauce bar has enough of your usual/typical choices. I wish they had another peanut option besides the sesame sauce. Otherwise, great place to eat with family and friends. The lunch deal for $20.99/person is so worth in this economy. Our waiter was super attentive, bringing us napkins and checking in on us frequently. You have a 90 minute limit, so what I usually do is scoop as much broth as I can into the bowl provided to you for eating. This makes the broth come to a boil faster. When your broth gets low you can just add the lukewarm broth back or ask your server to dilute it if it's too salty. Unlimited appetizers come with the special, but I don't think it's worth your stomach space. My group of 3 prioritized the meat and ended up almost finishing 16 plates of beef brisket and 2 plates of beef belly. This was after I picked a bunch of veggies and glass noodles from the sauce and veggie/seafood bar. The facilities, especially the sauce bar and seafood/veggie island, were cleaned frequently which is impressive. After the table next to us, two guys bussed and thoroughly wiped down the table with a wet towel pretty quickly. I think this location is pretty popular even despite all the new hot pot places always popping up in the Bay Area so do come at a good time to expect to not wait 1+ hrs to be seated. read more

Every time my daughter came back for the holidays from NYC, she always wants to visit Shabuya, her favorite place AYCE. I wanted to try some new ones around the area but they're more expensive but not having anything better after reading all the reviews. We've been coming here since it was $27 and now it's $30, still a great value over all. My son loves the fried chicken appetizers and the potbelly. Again, this place provides many types of beef (no briskets) but its Toro would do with plenty of fatty. Everything is no additional charge like some others I read. The seafood bar has plenty of seafood for anyone delight. The sauce bar consists of ponzu and sesame sauces that is a great mix for me to dip my rare beef. Important thing is my family all like the food and the place. For me the original broth is tasty and the price doesn't break my bank The service here is the best to none. The server took orders on a digital pad and the food carriers bring the food out instantly. Great system. Everyone is pleasant and fast. The empty trays were removed quickly for new trays to come. Been here twice once for dinner and once for lunch and I don't understand the long lines/wait times for a so-so hot pot spot. But, I guess for the price you pay $20.99 (lunch) this place is pretty ok, but I wouldn't go crazy over it. Let's just say it wouldn't be my first choice to go to if I'm craving shabu shabu. I tried the spicy miso broth and tonkatsu which didn't have much flavor, if anything it's the dipping sauce you choose to dip your meats/veggies, etc in to give off some type of flavor. Also, even on the highest stove setting--it takes awhile to get a boil going if it can even reach a boil. I do like the buffet style set-up and items have always been stocked when I dined here. It's kept clean and there are solid typical hot pot items to choose from. As for the meats, my highlight was the beef toro and I didn't really care for anything else. They are cut a bit too thin for my liking though as the meat tends to fall apart easily. The sauce choices are limited with ponzu being the main one. The chicken karaage appetizer and gyoza are ok. Overall, like I mentioned above for the price you pay for lunch time it's an ok spot to try despite the flaws, but I wouldn't go out of my way to be put on a waitlist or wait an hour to be seated to eat here. read more

I love that this place includes appetizers as all you can eat, I also love the bar area where you can pick and choose what you want on your hot pot. I came about an hour and a half before closing, and the experience was a bit disappointing. The hostess was repeatedly coughing into her hand, then used the same hand to grab our utensils and bowls before seating us. Another staff member was sweeping and shaking out floor mats right next to the buffet-style section filled with fresh vegetables and soup ingredients, and she leaned the broom handle against a stack of clean bowls. Meanwhile, someone else was spraying Windex directly onto the sneeze guard over the buffet. All of this happened within minutes of arriving. The meat and soup itself were good, but some of the appetizers--like the karaage chicken--weren't very fresh and tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. While this experience was wild, our server was really great. Very helpful and he checked in on us often. We ordered some appetizers and meat choices and then went to grab items from the self serve bar. After looking through the veggies, tofu, seafood and noodle offerings - we got what we wanted and came back to our seats. Our soups were already there and we started adding items in. My friend got the house soup base while I got half spicy miso and half tonkatsu. Overall, I liked what I put into my soup and thought all the ingredients were good/fresh. I kept trying to doctor up my soup - it was lacking something - spice, salt, sugar? I thought the soup was pretty bland, but this tends to be the case when I'm at a shabu shabu place. There certainly was plenty of everything and the meats came out pretty quickly. Our appetizers, on the other hand - one never came out and we had to ask a few times to get an order out. We were at a booth at the end of the row, so I felt like we didn't catch the server's attention as much - our waters didn't get filled at all during the time we were there. Overall, I liked the place and enjoyed the food. It would have been better if my soup base had more flavor (more a personal preference, as I do like stronger flavors), and the service was a bit more attentive - but I would come back. The fresh bar area where you get your sides was also great I loved how many choices you have. From shrimp to tofu clams bok choy and more. They have a nice drink menu and the price is right at $29.99. Per person. You choose 6 meats from jump. The cons the meats are paper thin cut the broth is lack luster. It feels like the Mc Donald's of hot pot. I wish they had a premium menu also it would have made life so much more enjoyable. I'm not going say I'd never go back because it wasn't horrible at all but having tried a more traditional spot first there really isn't a comparison.
