We ordered a steamed egg, panfried pork bun, Chengdu Zajiang noodle, pork xiao lonb bao, and Chengdu fried rice. The non-dumpling orders came out incredibly quickly! The steamed egg is a massive treat. Make sure you order at least one per person, otherwise your relationships might be strained after fighting for it. The egg was silky-smooth, and the sauce and pork added a nice salty kick. The Chengdu Zajiang noodles were tasty, too. The sauce clings well to the springy noodles, and the bits of ground pork supplement the texture. The chengdu fried rice is also tasty. The rice is fluffy and well seasoned, and there's a decent amount of egg. The pork xiao long bao is pleasant - the wrappers are thin, but do not yield so easily to your chopsticks; the broth is piping hot and full of flavor, and the meat is plentiful. New Mian East Bay location conveniently opened in Milpitas! I've been to the Cupertino location before and I have to say, this new restaurant is bigger, less busy, and just as good (if not better). Fast service without sacrificing that Michelin Guide quality that put their food on the map. The inside space was really nicely decorated with mah jong posters and Chinese food stand facades, and there were plenty of tables and chairs. Definitely can accommodate the foot traffic of the South Bay location once word gets out. We came in for a Monday dinner and ordered a little bit of everything to share family style -- this is the way to go! Chengdu Zajiang noodles: Really good, I preferred this over their beef noodle soup. Great ratio of meat to sauce to noodles and was very flavorful. Pan fried pork buns: Good size and nice texture! Came here on Mother's Day for lunch and was surprised to get seated pretty soon after waitlisting for a party of 5! The restaurant was much larger than it looked from the outside. To order, you'll need to scan the QR menu; but to pay, you'll need to ask for the check instead of paying through the app. I ordered a spicy beef noodle soup, but it wasn't spicy at all. Once I walked into Mian, the first thing I noticed was the decor. It made me imagine that I was eating street food. There is plenty of seating since the inside is very spacious. This place is amazing! We had the golden wonton soup, chili oil wonton, and the spicy braised beef noodle soup. The wontons came out first, and my son ate all of his spicy wonton within minutes! The texture of the wrapper is fantastic. Every bite brought smiles to our faces :) It's easy to tell, they use high quality pork for their stuffing. The flavor was phenomenal. Super excited to see that Mian opened up a spot in Milpitas! This location is quite large and most tables seat 4 people but I think they can easily accommodate slightly larger groups as well. I like ordering xiao long bao (nice thin wrapper) with savory hot soup inside and tender pork. I order shen jian bao which is the pan fried bun with savory soup and pork filling. I have eaten here multiple times and I can confidently say that Mian will become a staple for my Chinese food cravings. We've sampled their noodles, dumplings, and appetizers, and everything we've tried here so far has been delicious. The food is reasonably priced and comes out quickly. It's a no-frills restaurant that lets you order by QR code, and staff is efficient. I'm not an expert on Sichuan food, but I find the food here tasty. The noodle dishes are the star here, in my opinion. I've tried their zhajiang noodles, beef noodle soup, and golden chicken noodle soup and they were all really good. I came here for an early-ish dinner on a rainy night and was not disappointed! At around 530pm on a Sunday there was no wait and we were sat immediately. The inside was clean, tons of space, and the chairs were comfortable. The restroom was also clean and well maintained. We both ordered the beef noodle soup and wow! It was delicious! Just happened to be in Milpitas and haven't decided what to eat for lunch and saw the sign advertisement for Mian. It's located on the otherside of the shopping center therefore the advertised near K on the Go (I was getting a drink from there). The ambiance of the restaurant is quite interesting, you get to see the masters making the fresh noodles and buns. The table and chairs were quite unique as well. Once seated you can order from your table QR code and submit. The services was fast and attentive. The food was coming out in minutes. I really enjoyed the Spicy Braised Beef Noodle, the noodles were just right in texture with enough chewyness. The Wagyu pork bun was not as juicy as expected but tasted just right. As for my XLB and other dumplings there were okay. I was a little disappointed on the look of the lettuce dumplings, the green and white was not as pictured. I saw some really solid reviews from my peers but one of my dishes looked different than theirs. I find this place standard for this type of food, but nothing too special. I should give an extra star for the XLB that my kids downed but I didn't get to try it. This review is about 2 weeks late, but better late than never. Amazingly cooked pork, no after taste, nicely sauteed pork in nice spices, kind of like an Indian stir fry and delicious soft buns. This is a must have! Napa cbbage and pork dumplings- These cuties looked like Napa cabbage leaves and were the most delicious dumplings on the table. I loved them and liked them more than the xiong long bao. Golden chicken noodle soup- Little shredded chicken, thin noodles and golden chicken soup- thick and delicious and very comforting and tasty. They don't heat up the noodles and this can bring the temperature of the dish down. Noodles must be boiling and fresh tbh. I could have a bowl everyday! Chicken wontons in chilli oil and hot and spicy sauce- Both were great! We enjoyed the chilli oil ones but they were both very good. Service was good but we were rushed. Despite the fact that we ordered much more than an averga table for 2/3, we were rushed but the server apologized for it so all is good. We ordered 2 orders of the chocolate xiong long bao. We were surprised to see the the Lindt chocolate toffees being opened and individually wrapped inside the dumpling wrapper. The dumpling artist wrapped 2 white chocolates and 2 matcha in one basket and 4 chocolate in another basket. I don't know if that was intentional to give us a taste of everything or they generally do a white, a green and two brown chocolates. All in all, Mian Milpitas is a good value. I did not find it overpriced at all. The dumpling artists working all day is good and hard working labor and you're eating freshly wrapped dumplings so there's value right there. Saw some posts that this place recently opened, and the photos looked great, so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived it was pretty packed, but luckily there were still two tables open so we were seated right away. A waiter quickly brought over placemats that showed all of their other locations, along with pictures that demonstrate how to eat some of the dishes. Nice touch, especially for people who may not be familiar with certain items. They also provide metal cups and a carafe of water with lemon, which was refreshing. To order, you scan a QR code and place your order from your phone. What we ordered: Xiao Long Bao (6 pcs) - These were huge and incredibly juicy. Definitely one of the juiciest XLBs we've had. The flavor itself was good, though the highlight was really how much soup was inside. They also provide a generous amount of ginger, which we loved since most places tend to skimp on it. Spicy Braised Beef Noodles - The bowl was large, so we ordered the mild version since my daughter doesn't like things too spicy. The vegetables were very fresh and still crunchy, which I appreciated since many places overcook them and they get soggy. The noodles were cooked well and there was a good amount of beef. They also let you request smaller bowls so we could share the soup, which worked out perfectly. Juicy Wagyu Beef Onion Pie (2 pcs) - Pretty tasty overall, but some parts were a bit too oily. The name suggests they'd be very juicy, but they didn't quite deliver on that especially compared to the XLB. One thing that surprised us was that although we ordered on the phone, we couldn't pay through it. A waiter had to come by to process the payment. Loved Mian Sichuan. It tasted great and ever authentic. We ordered the two popular dishes - Chengdu Zajiang Noodles and Spicy Braised Noodle Soup. Chengdu Zajiang had that fiery sichuan taste. I got the medium spicy, and it was very flavorful. The minced pork and sauce coats the noodles evenly, so it won't leave you with any dry noodle. The egg was a nice add on top. Spicy braised beef noodle was great. Broth was delicious and the meat is very tender. It was a great dish that will satisfy your craving. We also got the pan fried dumplings. It comes out fresh from being hand made. It is molten hot, so be careful with biting into it. The noodle dishes come out very quickly but be patient with all the dumplings. I wanted to try Mian Cupertino recently but they were closed for lunch. The next day, somehow I found out that there was a Mian opening in Milpitas. My friends and I checked it out and it was at the former Layang Layang restaurant space. I loved that restaurant and ate there recently too. So sad. We headed over right near opening time but there was already a long line. Anyhoos, the line was a bit slow but my friends and I were eventually seated. Got their signature soup noodles and the noodles were very meh, texture and taste were like those usual store bought machine made dried noodles/instant noodles. Broth was interesting actually and pretty tasty. A lilll bit salty and almost tonkotsu like. Got their pickled veggie and pork steamed buns, the filling was a bit odd in that it was entirely pickled veggie and I wasn't even sure it had pork? Other than obviously tasting the oil. They were also not steamed all the way through... either that or they were left sitting there for a while. For a chain that literally has mian, the noodles/flour character as their name, definitely did not seem like noodles or flour products were their specialty. Also having the Michelin sign at their door was confusing as I couldn't look up if this exact location got a bib gourmand but believe it was a diff location. Mian took me by surprise! I'm not usually a fan of Sichuan flavors because I personally don't love that numbing sensation, but the feeling is mild enough for me and there is a lot of complexity in the flavors. I will be trying more dumplings! RECS: + Chili oil pork wontons ($6.99/6 pcs) were SO good, I regret not getting more. They are silky soft with a delicious pork filling + Beef pancake roll ($10.99) had the perfect ratio of hoisin sauce, and the pancake itself was delicious! PASS: + Chengdu zajiang noodle ($14.99) had great flavor with the chili oil, but personally I felt it was not special otherwise in terms of texture. I don't think these are handpulled noodles + Mee goreng mamak ($16.99) was interesting to try and I did like the amount of protein in the dish. Accidentally stumbled upon this place during their soft opening. I was planning on going to the wings place next door but Mian was very crowded so we decided to give it a shot. Im glad we did. I was pleasantly surprised. We got the dry zhijiang mian and the chilli wontons. Both were packed with flavor and very delicious! The wonton sauce was a little too salty but besides that, it was great. Wish the noodles had more bok choy. Service was okay. We had to ask for water because they didn't serve it to us initially. Ambience is pretty decent. It's clean and they have bamboo chairs. It's a nice casual dinner spot. read more

My girlfriends and I came here as it's in between south san jose and dublin. The location is convenient with plenty of parking and near heytea ;) I ordered the beef intestines noodle because I usually don't have it often at other restaurants. The broth had a savory flavor but not too spicy. The intestines are clean and tender. We shared chicken gizzard together, and it was spicier with heavy seasoning than I thought. We also got chocolate dumplings. This dish came out way too early in the meal, and the waitress took the lid. By the time, we got to the dumplings, it didn't taste as good. Kinda sad! The pan fried pork buns were good. My friend got the ribs, and she didn't expect that the dish provided no noodles.... Very weird.... Not as good of an experience as I wanted. read more

We came here for the grand opening special: 40% off noodles on Saturday. We got seated within 5-10 mins around 5:30 pm. The restaurant is pretty spacious. Dishes came out pretty quickly. The spicy braised beef noodles were delicious, though 'mild spicy' wasn't spicy at all. The noodle texture was perfectly chewy. My MIL said the zhajiang noodles were a tad too salty and too hard (but I suspect that she generally prefers softer than al dente noodles). My kids enjoyed their noodles, especially the mee goreng. Was going into this thinking it would be kind of mid. I ordered the pan fried pork buns, spicy braised beef noodle, sichuan fried fries, and the soy milk. The spicy braised beef noodle was what I expected it to taste like. Kind of like a vietnamese beef stew taste. It's pretty good. Dipping their fresh dough sticks into the soup was incredible too. The pan fried pork buns were something I did not expect. The bun was slightly thick and sweet, and inside of it was a pork filling that was very juicy. Definitely would get this again. The sichuan fried fries were also very crispy and kind of remind me of another crinkle cut fry from another fast food chain but done 10 times better. Lastly, the soy milk was great. It was warm and sweet and that's all I have to say. Everything is affordable, delicious, and worth the price and I would definitely come back here again. read more

Excited to have an outpost of this restaurant closer to me, although this one sadly does not have Stan's Donut next to it. Strong four stars though I'm rounding up for consistency, cleanliness, and ability to find parking on weekends (unlike anything at the Ranch 99 plaza). All my favorites in one place: soup dumplings, beef roll, beef noodle soup, pan fried buns, Chinese donuts, and soy milk, etc. I do have a favorite version of all of these items at a different restaurant, but usually that particular item is the only strong thing at the restaurant. Here I can have a very decent version of everything in one place. Loved the steamed egg and pan fried buns especially, but everything we ordered was good. I first saw Mian at their Santa Clara location with a long line out the door but never had a chance to stop by, so I'm glad there's now another easily accessible location. This one is located in a very busy plaza with the popular Korean restaurants a couple doors down. We came for an early dinner and were seated right away. You scan a QR code for the menu and place your order in that fashion. The food arrived fairly quickly. We shared the beef pancake roll, xlb, spicy beef noodle soup, and spicy wontons. Everything was very tasty! I wish we had more stomach space to try more dishes. They allow you to choose the spice level for certain items, but I'd say the medium spicy wasn't spicy to us at all. Food Golden Soup Wonton 6pcs - $6.99 The wontons are served in a rich, golden infused pumpkin purée broth, and garnished with fresh green onions. The wontons were steamed nicely, but the broth itself did not seem to pair well together. Perhaps a clear broth for the wontons would have given it a more traditional soup. Juicy Wagyu Beef Onion Pie (2pcs) - $10.99 Flaky pan-fried pastry filled with wagyu beef, and sweet onions. This pie is large enough to cut into quarters and share as an appetizer. The beef was thick and subtle with the onions. Given the light filling flavors, it could use a side of sauce to enhance this dish. Pork Xiao Long Bao (6pcs) - $10.99 Delicate soup dumplings filled with juicy pork and rich, savory broth, wrapped in a thin, tender skin and steamed to perfection. since this was takeout, it wasn't piping hot when eating it. The XLBs were deflated and lukewarm. Tastes like the standard XLB at dim-sum restaurants. Sichuan Style Spicy Fries - $7.99 Crispy crinkle-cut potatoes tossed with chili oil, garlic, and Sichuan peppercorns. It was medium numbing spicy and since it was takeout, the fries were a bit soggy. Fried Pumpkin Pancakes (6 pcs) - $6.50 Golden-brown vegan fried pumpkin cakes with a crispy exterior. It's chewy, dense, with a light syrup drizzle on top. If you want a small dessert to end the meal, this is a unique type of dessert to try. I ordered medium spice level where the soup had the pre-mixed ingredients. The noodles tasted fresh and braised beef chunks were tender. Would be great to add more beef and less noodles. The soup itself wasn't overly salty and was slightly thick. Pan Fried Pork Bun (4pcs) - $9.99 The pan-fried bun is filled with pork, a savory broth, crispy on the bottom and soft on top. Each bite was dense from the bun and pork, a good appetizer to order. Mapo Tofu Noodle with Meat - $14.99 Spicy noodles topped with minced pork and tender tofu in a rich, and spicy Sichuan chili sauce. I ordered medium spice level and added in the sauce that was packaged in a ramekin on the side. There was more noodle to protein ratio, however, the dish was better after adding a homemade fried egg. Customer Service Upon walking in, I was immediately greeted by the staff and asked whether I was dining in or picking up. Roseanne, the manager, was especially warm, helpful, and informed me that my take out order was missing one time that was still being prepared. I waited an additional 20 minutes after receiving an alert that my order was ready for pick up. She shared that the restaurant is currently in its soft opening phase and mentioned that the previous Layang Layang owner retired. Mian preserved the former Layang Layang Malaysian chef and team to support operations and overall quality. Ambiance The space has warm wood accents, hanging lanterns, bright red and yellow illuminated Mian signage throughout. There's plenty of seating to accommodate groups of various sizes. Near the front register, a window offers a view of baos being freshly prepared from scratch. Location / Parking Mian now occupies what was formerly Layang Layang space, next door to bb.q Chicken and a couple of doors down from Teaspoon. So excited that Mian just opened in Milpitas! Between their two Bay Area branches and this new location, we finally have one close by. This apparently is a chain in from So-Cal. They just opened up in Milpitas. The noodle is supposed to be fresh... and it does taste really good. Fresh certified. I ordered the spicy noodles and it's good. You do have to pay for extras if you want any meats other than ground pork and fried egg. We orders the braised beef and it's pretty good. The best way to describe this dish is Sichuan Spaghetti. I ordered extra spicy and it was only mild for me but then again I'm a Sichuan fanatic.
