Lots of dry peppery flavor in all the dishes. Mushrooms had a good black pepper taste with a light crispy batter, I think oyster mushrooms which were both airy and slightly meaty, very good. The noodle soup had a translucent broth which was very aromatic and flavorful with tender beef chunks and doughy noodles. Chicken was cut into bite sized pieces, also very aromatic, a bit of a mess to eat due to the bones.

This place honestly feels like a hidden gem in Milpitas! Milpitas Square lowkey be popping off these days!! The first time we came, the owner said something that really stuck with me: "Tell me later if it tastes good, but you'll definitely leave full." That kind of sincerity is rare, and it really feels like the kind of place where the owner just wants people to eat well and enjoy their meal!! Another big plus -- they're open until midnight, which is surprisingly hard to find for Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area! I would recommend these: * Braised pork with morel mushrooms * Spicy boiled dishes (Shui Zhu style) * Stinky mandarin fish * Mouth-watering chicken * Chinese yam and morel mushroom soup Everything was flavorful and comforting. The portions are huge!! If you're looking for a Chinese restaurant that has great flavor, generous portions, reasonable prices, and a lot of heart, this is definitely a place worth checking out. Highly recommend!!

I was in town and came here again with a vegetarian friend. She picked 地三鮮 Potato, Bell Pepper, and Eggplant, and I ordered 紅燒豆腐Braised Fried Tofu to share because I wanted some protein. As usual the portions were very generous. The Potato, Bell Pepper, and Eggplant was excellent. It was very tasty and well-prepared. The egg plant was slightly fried and not soggy or overly oily. The Braised Fried Tofu was average, it would have been better if it came with a bit of vegetable to give it more variety. The restaurant was pretty spacious and nicely decorated; our booth was comfortable. Service was decent. We were given free dessert and free bottled ice tea. Prices were reasonable.

Came here for the first time with my family and I really enjoyed my visit. We were craving spicy and mouth-numbing food and this place delivered. Super authentic restaurant! We ordered 4 dishes (wish I remembered the specific names): Lotus root, fried rice, Chongqing chicken, and a cold chicken dish (口水鸡). All were really good but my favorite was the Chongqing chicken. It was so mouth-numbing and crunchy and hot and delicious. Lotus was crunchy and fresh. Fried rice was a good counter to the spiciness. The only thing was the 口水鸡; while the chicken wasn't dry or anything, it definitely wasn't spicy which I was sad about. Service was quick and efficient. Food came out quickly. The place was packed by the time we left. Overall, really enjoyed my visit, and I'll be sure to come back.

Chili Garden has delicious Chinese food with huge portions! Glad they are open late until midnight too. Really hits your late night cravings! The Lamb Haggis Soup was soothing and a great start to our meal. It had nice chunks of lamb tripe and guts. You can tell it has been simmered for a while. The cilantro on top added freshness as well. Loved the Honey Walnut Prawns and Sweet and Sour Pork! The meats were super crispy and tossed in sweet sauces. Such satisfying crunch! I was pleasantly surprised by the Snakehead Fish Fillet with Vine Pepper. The green bunch of vine peppers had numbing tingly spice. There's also chili peppers in it to bring more heat. It had lots of ingredients like many fish pieces, black fungus, lotus root, and vermicelli that soaked up the rich flavors in the soup. The Spicy Lamb Chop was very savory and so tender, literally falling off the bone. There's a side bowl of spices you can sprinkle on top for an additional punch of heat. It's topped with toasted sesame seeds that gave some nuttiness. The Snow Pea Sprouts was bright and crisp, stir fried with freshly sliced garlic. They gave a generous amount that was piled up like a small mountain. Great veggie dish that balanced out all our other meat dishes. Everything was served family style and the strong flavors paired well with rice. Fast service - even though we ordered a lot of big dishes, they had all the food out really quickly. Everything was steaming hot and fresh. They had a lively atmosphere with many customers arriving throughout the evening with excited chatter. I will return to try more of their extensive menu for midnight snacks!

Food is generally good , serve speed is okay at Tuesday night, not that much people. In terms of food, I am recommending: pork with smoked tofu and celery-芹菜香干肉丝;Mung bean sheet jelly with mustard-芥末拉皮; Braised Hairtail Fish-一米红烧牙带鱼; Free Range Chicken stewed with Hazel Mushrooms- 龙岗走地鸡炖榛蘑; But not recommending: Fiery Squid-火爆魷魚Spicy Chicken Pot - 干鍋香辣雞 ; Enjoy then!

The best chinese food I've had in a long time! Super authentic flavors and the dry malatang was delicious. I loved every dish that I tried. The honey walnut prawns were crispy, the combination fried rice was perfect and the malatang had great mouth-numbing spice. I love that they have a build your own malatang bar plus a traditional menu. Service was pretty quick. Lots of tables inside. They even give free tea and dessert. Would def be back

The food here is fantastic, but the service really steals the show! Our server. a slender gentleman with brown hair was incredibly attentive and kept us laughing with his great sense of humor. He made the entire dining experience feel special and welcoming. We'll definitely be back!

5 stars. Highly recommended. This restaurant has the kind of consistency you would expect from a long-running local spot. The food was solid across the board, the flavors were on point, and the overall value was very good. We tried several dishes, including some newer items, and nothing felt like a miss. The new dishes were especially impressive and tasted thoughtfully developed rather than added just for the sake of being new.

A very authentic Chinese restaurant with generous portions and reasonable prices in Milpitas. I really enjoyed everything we ordered and will definitely go back for more! * Crawfish with noodles * Salt and pepper mushroom * Sweet and sour pork * Lamb chop with spicy pickled pepper * Chiba tofu * Mixed vegetables

I've been coming here since they first opened. I miss the old Chilli Garden flavors. The foods taste so different now. I don't know if they have a different chef but the food taste ain't the same anymore. The Ching Qing fried chicken wings was not fried like it used to be and the Chong Qing Boiled spicy fish fillet wasn't spicy at all.

The service was quick and attentive, and the restaurant itself was nicely decorated. The best thing we ordered was the Sizzling Yellow Croaker with Fried Garlics (9/10). The fish was super crispy, and the sweet, garlicky skin was incredibly addictive. I would 100% order this every time I come back. We also had the Shredded Cabbage with Sliced Pork (8/10), which was nice and tangy. The cabbage soaked up all the sauce, making every bite packed with flavor, while the pork provided a great contrast to the vegetables. The House Special Fried Rice with Pickle & Beef (7/10) wasn't anything extraordinary, but it served as a great base alongside the other dishes. The pickles were an interesting addition, as I've never had fried rice prepared that way before, but I definitely enjoyed it. Finally, we decided to try the House Special Spicy Frog in Stone Pot (6.5/10) since most of us had never had frog before. The flavor was outstanding, with a great umami depth and just the right amount of spice. The frog itself was a little difficult to eat because of the large number of bones, but the meat was tender and juicy. Replacing the frog with another protein probably would have made it more favorable, but I still enjoyed trying something new and didn't regret ordering it. Overall, Ping's Bistro is a great spot for outstanding Chinese food. Every dish we tried was enjoyable, and there are still so many items on the menu I'd love to come back and explore. The prices are on the higher side, but the quality and flavor make up for it. I'll definitely be back.

If I were to sum up my meal in one word, I can do it easily: salty. Every dish I've tried today was…read moreincredibly salty. Though I prefer my food a little bit more flavorful, Ping's Bistro really shot every single flavor up. The Steamed pork belly with preserved vegetables was served first, and without a doubt, is one of the spiciest. It's a good size for sharing, but the preserved vegetables on the bottom was mushy and came in a very small portion. Though supposed to be a part of the dish, seemed to be thrown in just for some extra flavor. Though I selected mild spiciness for the Spicy Boiled Fish, it was still REALLY spicy. Maybe it's my spice intolerance, but this dish lights a fire in your mouth. Also, this dish is mala, so it numbs your mouth. Some people may enjoy this sensation, but it's a pass for me. The fish was really soft and tender though. The fish was my favorite part of the Spicy Boiled Fish. Not only there is fish underneath, it was surprising to see other ingredients like lotus, vermicelli noodles, and much more. The salted egg covered pork was extremely salty and oily. I was surprised to know it was boneless, and I felt like the salted egg crust is too thin, which let the taste of the pork overthrow any type of salted egg taste. The Country Style Sautéed Pork with Eggs and Black Fungus was again one of my preferred dishes, though it was extremely oily. I really liked the egg, black fungus, and bell peppers in this dish. The eggs and black fungus were soaked with flavor and the bell peppers balanced out the heaviness. The pork was also alright, but more on the tougher side. If you were to come to Ping's Bistro, I would advise you to order the Country Style Sautéed Pork with Eggs and Black Fungus. The floors were really sticky, but other than that, everything was alright. The water was poured messily, but I guess it's no big thing. The staff were really quiet and avoided interaction. When they serve your dish, they never wait an extra second before they leave for any questions or requests. They just drop the dish and zoom away. From my review, just remember: saltiness. I'm not convinced that I'll come back again, but I'm glad I tried it out.

The flavors were clean, balanced, and still interesting without relying on chili oil or peppercorns. It was nice to see that they don't treat "non‑spicy" as "boring." Service was attentive the whole time -- staff checked in often, made sure my parents were comfortable with the dishes, and helped us pick items that fit their spice tolerance. Because of that, the 18% service fee didn't bother me at all. It felt justified, and the team genuinely earned it. What keeps us coming back is how well they balance heat and flavor. The spice here never feels like a stunt -- it builds alongside real depth and seasoning. The Qiao Jiao Niu Rou (跷脚牛肉) is a standout -- a Sichuan-style boiled beef dish served in a rich, aromatic broth that somehow lands the spice-to-savory ratio perfectly every time. The Shui Zhu Yu (水煮鱼) is also worth ordering; the fish is decent quality, silky in texture, and the numbing chili oil broth does its job well. The restaurant ambient environment is ok and does get crowded often, but honestly that's just a symptom of being good - this place has built a real following in the South Bay. The Orchard Farms lot outside gives you plenty of parking, which takes some of the stress off a busy weekend dinner.
