#4 beef and pea stirred noodle (oops to mixing)... should rename to "beef and pea paste dry noodle"
    Megan C.

OVERALL: Definitely an acquired taste... if you miss home (China) or are from the region in China, this place is for you. I became concerned when I saw the owners opening the containers and sniffing it. It's a family ran business with a couple going strong at it. SERVICE: They immediately speak Mandarin and recommended their specialties. Serves hot water, tea and iced water in ikea glass cups for free. No kettles, carafes, etc. Must pay upfront at the cashier. Was receptive to customer feedback but shrugged it off. FOOD: Few selections. Noodles aren't chewier or qq. #1 tomato sour soup fish noodle - owners state it's natural sour - noodles are definitely tastier than the dry noodles (states more noodles are free... no idea) #4 Beef and pea stirred noodles (dry) - the peas are a paste so mixing it into the noodles is textured and grainy - should be renamed to "beef and pea paste dry noodles" AMBIANCE: Casual. For a noodle shop, it takes quite awhile for the dishes to come out (as the wife is doing it all herself); therefore, be mindful of the time. Located in the Seafood City plaza. Private parking lot. Would I come back? No.

Came here to try this small noodle shop at a convenient exit on 680. The restaurant is a simple mom and pop style one whose owner is a nice genuine couple. Everything is ordered to cook so it would take a while. Love the chicken noodle soup with Cordyceps flower without msg. Good price for the ingredients and the hard work behind.

The food is so yummy, and friendly owner, nice service. The restaurant is very clean. I love spicy food. It makes miss my home.

The owner of this restaurant is so sweet! You can tell by their service that they are passionate in what they are doing! The food was absolutely amazing! I ordered the cordyceps flower chicken noodle soup, and the broth was so tasty and not salty! The price was very reasonable for the quality of food that we received. Highly recommend!

    Chicken noodle

I really the enjoy food here tonight. The chicken noodle was very tasty with no MS. My friend and I drank all the soup and finished all the home made noodles. Will try the sour fish noodle next time!

The Spicy noodle is so yummy and tons of flavors! If you like spicy ( minor numbing spicy ), this dish is for you! Awesome service and offered few dumplings sample!

    Braised beef noodles

Braised beef was tender and had really good flavor. The portion of homemade noodles was generous and had a nice "bouncy" texture. The sour fish noodle soup used round rice noodles, had large pieces of fish fillets, and was also very good with just a hint of sour from the tomatoes. Would recommend both dishes and will come back to try their dumplings and other noodle dishes. We also got some free fried rice cakes that tasted like savory fritters which went well with the soup noodles, and the service was very good for a Chinese restaurant. Bonus, there was a 10% discount this week for chinese new year! I didnt expect that, so wanted to give a higher tip, but the highest amount of tip on the credit card machine was 18%

Cozy, neighbor hood cafe. Guizhou local flavor of China, fresh fish filet and typical flavor, nice try

I remember this place used to be Chef Chengdu, but recently closed down and rebranded to become Super Potato. Here's my take and my experience on this place, as a first timer thus far: - The food was honestly out of this world, and when I say the portions are BIG - they were actually enough to cover the container (and even more). That's how much they have. I got the beef tripe with Chinese broccoli and rice, and while I had wished they included more Chinese broccoli, the sauce of the beef tripe was SO pungent and aromatic that I was able to sauce up my rice and enhance the flavor of my plain white rice. - The hospitality of this place was quite well - the waitresses are very attentive to each detail. Our requests were met conveniently without any hesitation. Ambience was also pretty well maintained. I'm definitely gonna come back and have more!! A budget friendly place forsure :)

The texture is super super super soft, I honestly thought there would be more of a chew or bite. I liked it, but didn't love it. I don't think I would come here just for the noodles. However, the flavor was pretty good, wasn't too spicy and had a lot of the mala flavor in the soup! I also really enjoyed the pork ears and cucumber, refreshing. My friend got the brown sugar rice cakes and wasn't expecting to love it but it was so so good, very crunchy and chewy at the same time!

Whenever I come back to California, the beef ball rice stick noodle soup is at the very top of my must eat list. The soup is genius in its simplicity. Clear, flavorful broth creates a perfect accompaniment to the bouncy, ribbon like noodles. The meatballs are so tender and springy, and unlike any meatball I've ever encountered. Crunchy pork fat bits and greens swim about and add fun variety in every bite. This is the soup I want when I'm heartbroken (often), sick (annoying), or hungover (unfortunately also often). The fact that I have to fly several thousand miles to get it is my only negative about it. I'm confused why there's so many different variations of tk noodle but honestly I don't really care. I just want there to be one in Nashville. If yall want to open in Nashville slide in my dm's.

I do wish people wouldn't play sounds or their phones while eating, it's just inconsiderate to others. I was really impressed by their rice cake with egg dish. So flavorful and perfectly matched with the vinegar dipping sauce. I also really enjoyed their assorted noodle soup. The broth could have used a bit more salt, but I thought it had good flavor. All of the components including the shrimp and the meatballs were tasty. Definitely want to come back for more.

They do serve coffee for dinner time but I can't take the caffeine at night. The service is above average for a chinese restaurant. The waiter was pretty patience with us as we brought an elderly guest with us at the table so we took a little longer to enjoy our meal. The interior design of the restaurant is pretty interesting where the booth is align an triangular shape with a center piece so the tables can be put together for larger parties very easily. Although Taishoken is known for their tsukemen, I'll always opt for mazesoba if I see it on a menu. The mazesoba here is easily some of the best I've had in the Bay Area. The included piece of chashu is well-seasoned, fall apart tender and had a good balance of lean to fatty meat. The noodles are cooked to perfection and have a really nice chew to them. There is just the right amount of sauce in the dish, and the raw egg yolk adds a wonderful richness that coats each strand of noodle when mixed. Included with your mazesoba is a small side of vinegar. I would definitely recommend trying out the mixed mazesoba on its own -- without the vinegar, and adding in the vinegar about half-way in in order to try out a completely different flavor profile of the noodles. The acidity of the vinegar cuts through the richness and keeps you coming back for bite after bite. If you've never tried mazesoba before, I can't recommend it enough at Taishoken. I can't wait to stop by again for another bowl.

I enjoyed the ramen noodles also. Overall, a solid 3.5 - rounded to a 4.
