Something I usually avoid, but we were starving and I've been wanting to try this place. I asked the server if it was okay to still dine in, and she warmly welcomed us, seated us right away, and brought out water immediately. Super friendly service the entire time, and food came out quickly too. I ordered the Jigoku (Vegetarian Ramen). Menu says "extremely spicy," but it wasn't as fiery as expected. I'd rate it a 3/5 heat level and I have a high spice tolerance. Still, a really solid bowl of ramen, especially for a vegetarian option. The Jigoku already comes with black garlic paste, which adds a nice aroma and flavor (a must if you're a garlic lover like me). That said, the pricing feels steep. My vegetarian ramen was $20 with no egg included (menu says "Vegetarian" - and vegetarians can eat eggs). I didn't realize this until after ordering, so I added a whole egg on the side for $2.50 but it turned out to be just a plain hard-boiled egg, not the seasoned ramen egg I was expecting. The toppings were otherwise standard: corn, bamboo, woodear mushroom, some tofu slices, and lots of noodles. An overwhelming amount.. Meanwhile, the tonkatsu ramen is $17 and comes with everything in mine plus 2 slices of chashu and half an egg. So it feels a little unbalanced. The pork was present but not the most notable taste. The broth was really good that I emptied the bowl into the spoon to the last drop. It came with 2 pieces of thick chashu pork which was tender with a good fat to meat ratio. It had an oven roast pork taste. Good size meat. Also had a half na egg which was soft boiled. The egg didn't appear nor taste like it was marinated. Also had the classic ramen veggies of bean sprouts, bamboo shoots and mushrooms. Generous serving of noodles, the most I've had in ramen. I just tried a spoonful of the Jigoku broth and they're not kidding when they described it as spicy. I could immediately feel the heat in my throat. Price was reasonable and comparable to other ramens restaurants. The staff, an older lady was very friendly and nice. Food came out quickly. The restaurant name implies that they have tapas. I figured they're referring to the appetizers and sides which include chicken karage, takoyaki, and pot stickers to name half of the appetizer menu. The restaurant has a very cozy vibe to it. Although, I was not that impressed with their food. The potstickers were quite average to begin with. They lacked flavor and the skin wasn't as nice. Even frozen potstickers are better than theirs. For mains, we tried the shoyu ramen and curry ramen. The shoyu ramen lacked flavor. It was bland and doesn't come with many toppings. It felt like all I had in the ramen was just noodles. The curry ramen's flavor wasn't anything great either. It was a very average ramen. Considering bay area has tons of delicious ramen for the same price point, I wouldn't want to come here again. Love this place! We stumbled upon in months ago on a cold rainy night, and I remember loving the ramen and the vibes of the shop. We couldn't remember the name or location, and finally happened to stumble upon it again last night! I was so excited we found it again. They had 5 different vegetarian ramen options, which is pretty rare. They also had veggie appetizers. We ended up ordering the potatoes croquettes and I got the Veggie Spicy Tofu Ramen. Both were delicious. The broth for the veggie ramen was super flavorful! I am excited to try the other veggie options. The service was wonderful! The woman working was so sweet, very attentive, and stopped to have nice conversations with each of the guests in the restaurant. We dropped in Tuesday around 5pm. It was busy at all. We ordered the tonkatsu ($18) with some add ons. The broth was not salty. It is light in flavor. I would prefer a little more flavor. But at least I wasn't thirsty to death after eating. Noodles were al dente and thin type. Chasu was good. They give a lot of noodle and broth. Yelp said it's a beer bar but I only see Japanese beers like Asahi, Sapporo, and one more. They also have soju and wine. Takes maybe 10-15 mins for ramen to arrive. Great customer service as well, very friendly staff! - There's a huge van that seems to be parked in front of it a lot and it pretty much blocks the entire restaurant from outside. I'd recommend talking to whoever owns it and move it for better business visibility. - I prefer the noodles to be more on the firm side, but they were on the softer side. I found this little ma and pa shop not too long ago. Let me tell you how their service is amazing and they are very nice. It doesn't get very packed in here, they let you choose where to sit for the most part. As I was there the lady went out of her way to make "customized" chopsticks for a kid so that it didn't break apart and she can have the experience of using chop sticks! Awesome ramen shop with friendly service and a menu offering something for everyone. I've been here a handful of times and have had the luxury of ordering something different each time. That's how many vegan options they have! The attention to detail from the server in my most recent visit was very nice. He knew I was a fan of spice and brought me a shichimi shaker without me even having to ask. Also, some places (I don't know why!!) charge extra for increasing the spice level. I'm so glad this is not one of those places! When you step into this ramen shop, you feel like you're in Japan (except the space is much larger than most ramen shops in Japan but you know what I mean). If there was one thing you could order here, it has to be the takoyaki. It was perfectly crisp on the outside, the octopus bit was good, and the flavor was just on point. My friend liked his tantanmen ramen--it was peanut-y and had a strong sesame oil flavor. I preferred the tonkatsu-- I do feel like it was missing the fatty depth that this ramen usually has, but it had a really nice, light flavor to it. The egg was also perfectly jammy. It's a cute, small, cozy restaurant with a handful of tables. The menu has a good variety of classic and new ramen choices to choose from with a good spread of appetizers. We got the croquettes, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft & fluffy filling with corn and potatoes. As far as the ramen, this is a good spot to satisfy the ramen cravings. My bf ordered the Tonkatsu Curry Ramen -- the broth was a bit thinner than he liked since he's probs used to the thicker curries. Taste was good! I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen (extra spicy) -- it didn't taste as spicy as I'd like but no problem and I added extra togorashi seasoning, which was provided for the table. Juban is consistent and I recommend their tonkotsu ramen with the deep pork bone broth - it's so soothing! Two thin slices of chashu, some bamboo, bean sprouts, half soft boiled egg, green onions and chewy noodles for $16. Max capacity I'd say is about 25 people with 10 tables so service is quick. The chicken karage uses tender and juicy thigh meat but I do prefer the batter to be more crispy. All in all solid ramen place; give it a try in you're in the area. read more

The spice wasn't overpowering, but u could taste and feel it. It was an amazing complement to the broth. The broth was smooth and flavorful, not overly thick or oily. Simple, but very effective. I would order it again. Then we also ordered the fried chicken. I give that a 4/5. It was missing salt, it wasn't bad at all. Came with a dipping sauce too. As for Ramen I ordered a spicy tonkatsu with tofu. I killed the whole bowl. It was good. The flavors and the texture of the Ramen was how i liked it. In exchange, you get flawless execution on the core components. The broth is flavored perfectly: tons of umami but not too salty. The noodles are springy and cooked to a medium texture. I got the tonkotsu ramen, black garlic ramen and karaage. I was surprised by the size of broth it came with and luckily I had large bowls. The tonkotsu was flavorful and was still hot when I got home. The black garlic smelled so good. I wish there was more karaage, I only had 6 pieces. The chicken was crispy and wasn't dry. About a decade ago, this place was a Burmese restaurant and I was sad to see it close because I don't know many Burmese restaurants except Burma Superstar in San Francisco but anyways, it later became what we know it as today, Juban Ramen and Tapas. According to my Swarm check in, I last ate here in April 2018! So it's been 5.5 years and I was really happy to see that it survived covid because many restaurants permanently closed down and I'm always rooting for the success of our local mom and pop shops. I took some of my kids here a few weeks ago and they all liked the food. We got the tonkotsu ramen, chicken kaarage, gyoza aka potstickers and a small bowl of chashu over rice. I think we came here on a Wednesday after peak lunch hours so it was no problem getting a table. This location is very small and they only have a few tables. If you come during peak hours, you may have to wait for a table. I can't imagine anyone waiting that long because a bowl of ramen doesn't take long to finish. There are still so many ramen places in the South Bay I haven't tried yet but I'm happy to cross this place off my list. Overall the food is really good and a great place to have lunch with friends, colleagues or even a date that is not going to cost you an arm and leg. There at other restaurants in this plaza too and they all share a parking lot. If you come here during non peak time you shouldn't have any problem finding parking. They are opening Pho Ha Noi in this plaza so when that place opens, parking might be a problem in the future. You can pay with cash or card.
