My husband and I came here for dinner around 6pm and the restaurant was half full. They don't seat you right away but ask that you order at the kiosk with a cashier first, which is a little bit strange but not too bad. The restaurant provides a menu in front of the register on a table, but the table is a little large so it's a little awkward reviewing the order on the kiosk and then paying because you have to lean over a bit. The cashier was polite though and told us to sit down anywhere and we picked a table nearby. The ramen came out very quickly! It hadn't even been five minutes before my miso ramen and my husband's miso ramen arrived. We were very surprised. My miso ramen was okay. The broth had a good miso flavor and the chashu pork was tender but a bit too salty for my taste. I liked that the ramen came with a hefty pile of beansprouts on top, although I would have liked more green onions or scallions on top for color. The ramen egg was marinated nicely and I could taste the umami flavor from the soy sauce it was marinated in. It is cooked a little more for a ramen egg than I'd like (I prefer my ramen eggs to have a runny, golden yolk when I eat my ramen) but the flavor of the ramen egg made up for it. My husband and I were surprised that this establishment also offers dim sum so we ordered a side of shrimp dumplings (hargow). The menu does have a note that any dim sum takes about 8 - 10 minutes to make, so it came out after our ramen. We were a little confused when the waiter brought out a plate of pork and shrimp siumai, but my husband inquired and it turned out they had given us the incorrect dish. The waiter apologized and a few minutes later we were given our shrimp dumplings. They were steaming hot and served in a bamboo serving. Taste-wise, they were okay with a mild shrimp flavor and a stronger ginger flavor. I noticed biting into it that the minced ginger had a couple of larger chunks that overpowered the shrimp. It was interesting to have dim sum at a ramen shop, but I don't think I'd ever order this again. It was a nice place for a quick bite for dinner. I'd maybe go there again if I wanted something to eat and was in the area.
Gave this place another try after 2 years. Ordered the chicken ramen because it looked interesting. Very generous meat to noodle ratio but I couldn't finish...bland broth, not rich and robust as ramen should be...tonkatsu ramen also seemed watered down...will pass on a return visit
Have been meaning to try this ramen spot for quite a while. The menu is definitely interesting too as I don't know any other place that has both ramen and hawaiian food. It's also a quick service - order before sitting down and your food comes out in 2 minutes. We got the black garlic ramen (medium spice), which was super tasty but not spicy at all, and the tonkotsu ramen (mild spice), which was rather bland. It tasted more like chicken than pork. Lots of appetizers to choose from so we tried the lumpia. Would not get again. Bland as well and dipping sauce was just your chinese restaurant packets. Water cups were red solo cups - that was fun! Love that it's a family business all around and would definitely come back to try the hawaiian side of the menu!
My review is for their party trays order and experience. Overall, very easy to order on their online portal and the descriptions are laid out easy to base decisions on. Food was pretty decent. I ordered small bbq chicken, but it was more saucy than I expected. I thought it was gonna be sauce-less. I also ordered a small tray of Mac salad. It was pretty decent as well, but could do with more flavor. It's not as good as L&L Mac salad. Pick up - I believe it was easy and fast, but I didn't personally go myself. Price/quantity - for price and quantity and quality. This is a great place to do catering. Large trays of food that are pretty good and should please majority of ppl.
Really yummy! We ordered the black garlic ramen, grilled squid, Agedashi tofu and a barbecue chicken and katsu plate. Large portions! Service was fast, food was HOT. Casual setting.
We visited during the week and there was plenty of parking. I ordered the chicken Katsu plate which came with broccoli, lots of rice, and small portion of Mac salad. I did like what I ordered the chicken Katsu with the sauce was good but it was a little too crunchy, the broccoli was healthy and I wish it was seasoned or had butter, and the Mac salad was good I feel like it's missing something maybe pepper, and the BBQ chicken was really yummy. I tried my bf's ribs and I tried kind of a fatty piece but it tasted good. The service was fast and the ambiance was chill, I would recommend if you're in the area!
First time here. I ordered the black garlic ramen and it was delicious. It was full of flavor and It was so good I wanted to eat the bowl . Im glad I found ramen 101 on yelp and pictures didnt lie. The service was very fast I got my food in less then 10 minutes and it was under $25. I will definitely come back for lunch or even diner . If your in the milpitas MCCARTHY ranch area give this place a shot
*First time review, DoorDashed* Honestly pretty shocked this place delivered from Milpitas to Cambrian Park! I paid a $1.99 long distance fee but didn't realize this place was in Milpitas until now! The amount of ramen and chicken I got is pretty crazy... I got the garlic tonkatsu broth medium spicy and chicken. I specified I did not want sprouts or mushrooms and they did not include them, so thank you! Taste was really good and believe it or not, it was still hot even though it took 30 mins to get to me. 100% would order again
Food is delicious. Many options to choose from; from ramen to dim sum, pork buns, and sautéed dishes. I like that it's a relaxed atmosphere and no one is rushing you to leave. On a different note, it would be great to add a hook to the bathroom door so people can hang their belongings, add a diaper changing station, and a lil windex goes a long way on mirrors.
Short rib had been calling my name all day long. So I checked Yelp for Hawaiian BBQ places between my office and my hotel. Ramen 101 was at the top of the list and had such pretty food pictures. When I entered, the restaurant was not very busy. As I browsed the menu, I realized that I was going to have a tough choice. I knew I wanted short rib, but I started thinking that the short rib would be lonely on the table. For this reason, I ordered the whole grilled squid to keep my short rib company. Both dishes were made to order and they tasted great. Quantity-wise, the portions were generous and I came nowhere near finishing either plate. My only gripe had to do with the amount of fat on the short rib. Maybe the cow should have hit tbt gym. Regardless, I had to cut around quite a bit. During my meal, the dining room was mostly empty; however, there was a steady stream of pick-up orders. Overall, I liked this place and definitely want to go back to try more items on the menu!
Ramen was so delicious and packed with toppings, however I wish they packed the bowl with a little more chashu pork. I feel like there was a lot more noodles than I would've wanted toppings but it still met my hunger satisfaction. Chicken Karaage was crispy, juicy, and mild in portion as well. Ambiance is a bit small but it gives you the comfort and warmth, especially if you're dining alone. Service was fast, friendly, and accommodating as usual! Definitely coming back here again

I've been here a couple times and it has always been terrific. A lot of times Hawaiian food is kind of sad and it seems overpriced here they give you a generous portion and the flavor is terrific. The vegetables were perfect and it's actually the best chicken katsu I've ever had. I also have the shumai which were very large pieces and I got some buns and what I really liked about the pork bun was that it was nice and juicy in the middle it wasn't all dried out. High recommendation. The lighting in the decor or the kinds of place you could take a date to but not a super fancy date but it's still pretty nice and you get the sit down experience service was pretty good people are friendly places very clean. It's kind of that cross between some place that's lightly fancy but is also a good value but the food tastes more expensive than it is.
Great comfort food for a lazy weekend dinner. I always forget how large the portion size is here. One entree order is good for two people. The katsu is very consistent and crunchy good. I recently ordered the mixed plate with bbq chicken and katsu chicken. Both style had tender meat and the katsu is very crispy crunchy. The Mac was not as creamy this time but still satisfying. Service was quick. Ordered and got the food within 5 -7 min. The store is consistently half full with lots of people coming in for take out. read more
My wife, our oldest son and I returned to have lunch at Ramen 101 yesterday. As we walked-in, we noticed it wasn't as crowded as it usually is. It was probably because we arrived kind of later than we normally do, so the lunch rush was probably already gone. Nonetheless, we grabbed a table after placing our order. I opted for the Tonkotsu Ramen (Medium Spicy). My wife ordered a Mini Chicken Katsu and our son had the Miso Ramen (Medium Spicy). Our food arrived quickly. I enjoy all their Ramen. I like that you get nice chunks of Char Siu, Bean Sprouts, Kikurage Mushrooms, Green Onions and Kamaboko (Fish Cake) too. You get a good amount of food. They use an oil hot sauce, which my son and I prefer, over the powdered type other Ramen places use. The oil is spicier than the powder. My wife enjoys their Hawaiian dishes. She also prefers their mini size, since the regular size is too much. Her chicken was cooked nicely and she enjoys their Katsu sauce. Our service was quick and the staff are always friendly. This place is a great spot for a work week lunch! That said, ramen is good (enough) but dont expect craft ramen like Hiro nori... prices are fair and I love that they serve dimsum, ramen, and hawaiian food. Staff is friendly and food is always consistent. read more

I haven't enjoyed any ramen bowls for about 1.5 years. As I'm under the weather mostly due to these cold winters of dropping temps and atmospheric rivers overhead pouring river drops, I am left with a season full of coughs. So I'm sticking to hot soups, broths and stews as much as possible. My neighbor was kind enough to pick up Tonkotsu Ramen while driving through Milpitas. Although I knew it would take time to reach me, the broth was still warm, but I admit I love hot foods to be enjoyed hot, so I simmered before pouring broth over the black bowl containing perfectly blanched yellow ramen noodles, black mushroom caps, a fish cake, fresh mung/soy bean sprouts, and 2 small and thin pork tonkotsu. (But I don't recall seeing or tasting bamboo shoots) The broth came in a seperate plastic bowl with a tan color and was quite opaque in appearance and viscous to the tongue. In addition, the broth had a super thin layer of fat (oil) floating on the top (which personally I would have wanted more fat bc it adds flavor imho). This order was requested in the medium spice level and it was a perfect "medium spice" as it was more on the milder side of a "medium spice" range. In addition, I had one spam musubi which was not good (Order comes in a pair) It simply had way too much rice for the size of the spam. If the spam was thicker, then maybe they can use a thick layer of rice. It looked out of proportion. In addition, rice was dry tasting and spam appeared and looked dry, that the spam had a curve to it. In todays order, the spam masubi was a fail. read more
** Uber Eats / Take-Out Review ** When I was scrolling through my app, Ramen 101 caught my interest as I was craving some Ramen but I was surprised to find that they also have Hawaiian BBQ? Definitely thought this was weird as specializing in two different things usually doesn't end up too good but to my surprise....it was excellent! Really glad I got to try out this place as now I have a new place to order Hawaiian food and Ramen at once. [[ Food ]] For my first time I tried: 1.) Black Garlic Ramen (Mild Spicy) 2.) Hawaiian BBQ Mix As this is a store with multiple chains/locations, I thought the Ramen was actually pretty decent. The broth was relatively thick and had good flavor. The best part of the Ramen was the noodles. Good thickness and good texture compared to some other places with soggy noodles. Pretty surprised how decent this was. Volume was decent and had a lot of things inside the bowl. For the Hawaiian BBQ Mix, I also thought they knocked it out of the park. Each one of the meats (Chicken, Beef, and Short Ribs) were juicy and tender and not overcooked. It's rare that all 3 of the meats were cooked well at an establishment and I quickly devoured the plate. Volume again was decent for this dish as there were plenty of everything. read more

This restaurant serves ramen and Hawaiian food. It's a small restaurant and we can order at the front. There are plentiful options to get here! The Grilled Chicken Ramen bowl is really big and served with large portions of food. I couldn't finish the soup lol. My family and relatives ordered Chicken Karaage, Teriyaki Chicken Hawaiian BBQ plate, and other ramens (not shown in the pics) and they look really good. Really appreciate the service since our orders are served faster than expected! read more

I ordered the Black Garlic Ramen and it was fairly tasty. Great broth flavor, presentation, and portion size. The medium spicy was perfect for me that provided the right flavor. I added and extra egg for additional protein but unfortunately the eggs were cold inside. I wasn't a big fan of the spirits in the ramen but everything was fairly good. I would have made this a 4 star review but the egg was cold inside so I gave this a 3. I would order from here again though. read more

Small hole in the wall in the best buy plaza. If you want quick ramen this is the place to go. But I prefer to get the chicken katsu here Lots of menu items but the chicken rice dishes are my favorite here! Lots of parking as its in a giant plaza, and also next to starbucks if you wanna get a quick drink after. Staff is friendly as it feels like the owner appreciates you dining there when he serves the food. 10 tables for sit down but take out is also available read more
I think it's good but not great. I was pleased to get bamboo, wood ear, bean sprouts, and fish cake for the base price! The ingredients were well-cooked (noodles were nice and tender) and the soup was okay. There was no wait and plenty of seating. The interior was nice and clean and there was lots of hand sanitizer everywhere. We got our noodles about 5 minutes after ordering. Definitely good value for the price, but also I didn't feel like there was anything special. read more

This review is only for party trays (to-go). The family had an event with 15+ people and we decided to come here for the party trays. We ordered several party trays in advance through their online website and set the day and pick-up time. I also ordered a party tray of BBQ Chicken Party Tray (small) at 11:00 AM on Saturday and it was ready in 15 minutes. It was extremely fast. In total, we ordered: teriyaki chicken, BBQ chicken, chicken katsu, and macaroni salad. (The family loves chicken.) The food was all well prepared. They weren't undercooked or overcooked. They provided utensils and sauces. The lady at the register even helped me bring these trays to my car. A++ service. read more
Decently good ramen that gives you a lovely bowl of goodness on a budget while not breaking the bank for satiation. It's certainly not going to break into the level of being "great" ramen, especially for enthusiasts, but as a local joint for a quick bowl it absolutely is a good place to hit up for a fast casual bowl of carbs....including their Hawaiian-leaning items (which while I didn't try seem to be similarly reviewed). Parking is not going to be a problem in the fairly expansive shopping area, so even better if you're just looking to eat something. Service is fairly limited as it is more of a fast casual setup (food gets brought out and that's about it), but staff were polite in our interactions and nothing seemed amiss. They do still have more COVID-type protections including a plexiglass divider, so they do take that more seriously than other spots at this time. Inside was kept quite orderly and clean, which is definitely a plus in my book. ==Gyoza [3.5/5]== Plump and juicy dumplings with a crispy fry on the outside, looks to be a pork/cabbage/rice noodle filling mix. That said it did taste a bit salty on the inside and the wrapping was a bit 'flaky' as if the frying didn't hydrate the skin enough while cooking. My guess is straight up deepfried from frozen and/or a dry dough. A nice guilty pleasure eat though. ==Tonkotsu Ramen [3.5/5]== I added corn as a personal thing of mine, but props to them for not serving that add-on cold (as is a propensity for some spots...). Medium spiciness just...wasn't really all that spicy. A reasonably hearty bowl, but the broth was definitely on the thinner side, though it did have a decently good porky flavor to it. Noodles were done on the more softer side on the thicker end of sizes. Chasiu was reasonably good, albeit a bit on the dry side. It's a good bowl for that rainy day, but premium this is not. ==Black Garlic Ramen [4/5]== The black garlic option definitely helps add a layer of flavor on top that boosts the quality of the broth, but suffers similarly from a thinness to the mouthfeel that's hard to break from. Otherwise pretty much the same bowl as the tonkotsu, minus the fishcake. I'd take this one over plain tonkotsu personally. read more

The ramen was good especially the noodles. It's a lot more than how much I can eat. I think I would prefer to take it home next time because the broth is too salty for my taste (not good for my kidneys) and requesting hot water to dilute it sounds like an abomination to think and even request it inside the restaurant. Customer service was good; they were polite and helpful. Will come back again. :) read more
