    LA galbi
    Samantha G.

I was originally craving Korean fried chicken and stumbled onto this place on yelp but they they told me they underwent new management and the menu is different now. No more chicken! I went with LA galbi and seolleongtang instead. The galbi was really good! For sides they had fresh kimchi, bean sprouts, fish cake, and radish. It's pretty close to home which is a plus because most of the Korean places are on el Camino real. And the portions were just right so if I'm craving some Korean or comfort food I'd definitely come back here. Service was great, they kept checking on us to make sure we were doing fine.

9-15-24. Close up of the Seafood Pancake

Korea Garden Bistro has been in this plaza, close to Seafood City Market for years. But now under new management for over a year. Goon Mandu: Fried beef & vegetable Dumplings (8pcs), (3/5). These are standard. Most all Korean/Japanese restaurants have them. Seafood Pancake: Crispy and chewy Pancake topped with squid, shrimp, & veggies (4/5). I liked that this Pancake had both squid and shrimp. Some only have squid. It was quite crispy. Ja Jang Myeon: Black Bean sauce noodle (4/5). Simple, traditional dish that was flavorful and savory. The noodles were long and have a chewy texture to them. The service was nice, friendly, and helpful.

Soy garlic 1/2 chicken. Flavorful and crispy!

Been smelling the wondering scents coming from this place when dining at Pho Saigon. Decided to finally try it last night for dinner after work. They close at 9pm and we arrived around 8:20 and got seated right away. Although it was almost closing time, we never felt rushed to leave. We enjoyed the following: Galbijim: full of tender meat, rice cakes, carrots, onions and peppers. Spicy cold noodle: included meat, egg and radish KFC: soy garlic 1/2 size Everything came out piping hot and we really enjoyed every single dish. We ate a ton even tho we were getting full off of the Banchan (yes, we got refills of all Banchan it was that good) and still had a lot of leftovers to take home. Most unique and tasty Banchan that most places do not have was the eggplant! So yummy. Definitely will be returning to try different friend chicken sauce flavors as well as the black bean noodles.

    Tteok-bokki with Cheese

I'm actually surprised that my original review didn't get posted when my boyfriend and I ate here 3 months ago. At least my photos are posted. I want to say that my boyfriend and I enjoyed ourselves here. The food and Banchan was decent. I normally don't eat spicy so I was surprised at how I could tolerate the jjampong. The KFC was amazing and I loved the Tteokbokki. Overall from what I remember 9/10 stars for food and 10/10 for the service. The place is a bit small so I won't be surprised at how crowded it can get but get there early and you'll enjoy.

    Tang su yuk

This place is kind of tucked away in a small grocery market plaza, and wasn't busy at all when we arrived around 6PM for a weeknight dinner. My friend and I dined in and ordered the tang su yuk (deep fried pork) and the jajangmyeon (black bean sauce noodles). We were quite impressed! Everything was flavorful and the portions were quite generous, especially given that the noodles were only $13. That dish could easily be a filling meal by itself, and in this economy that feels like a great deal! The pork had a nice crunch to it and the sauce was tangy and sweet. I would definitely come back next time I am craving these dishes.

Soy Garlic Chicken ($15.95, 4.5/5 stars)

Came here for the Korean fried chicken and left very impressed! Batter is soo crispy and not too thick, and the chicken is big. The kimchi was yummy, not too sour, and kinda spicy. Portions are huge and everything reheated well as leftovers. I'd want to come back to try the tofu soup, spicy seafood soup and spicy pork next. SOY AND GARLIC CHICKEN: 4.5/5 ($15.95) + MUST try! The sauce is thick and they don't skimp, so the chicken is well coated + My only complaint is I didn't taste a lot of garlic. But, there is a lot of flavor from the soy, honey? and whatever else is added HOT AND SPICY CHICKEN: 4/5 ($15.95) + This has a kick! It's spicy, sweet, and a bit tangy. I'm not sure what flavors are in this, but I do think it's heavier on the tang, which isn't my preference + I actually liked this reheated more than fresh because it lost the tanginess BLACK BEAN NOODLES: 4/5 ($12.95) + Solid jjajangmyeon! The noodles have a great texture and smells delicious from the onions + I appreciate that this is both savory and sweet (not just sweet)

Whole fried chicken, supreme and honey/cheese sauce
    Alfred L.

Ordered the whole fried chicken with honey/cheese and supreme. Huge pieces aside, the honey/cheese hit the spot for me. The combination sounds weird at first, but it's actually a sweet Parmesan dry rub due to the honey. The supreme sauce was medium spicy even though it wasn't marked as spicy on the menu. It was a nice slow burning spice that won't make you sweat too much, but will make you reach for the water. I rarely give out 5 stars but this place certainly deserves it for its chicken.

    Pahjong, crispy!

Enjoyed lunch with friends at this simple restaurant. The Galbi-jim was flavorful, though presentation is simple. The beef soup hits the spot. We had pajang pancake that was very crispy, though could use a little more seasoning. Service is very good as well.

Food was very good , portions are generous and you can share. Also they bring few small side dishes on the house, some prices are competitive and others I think a bite over price. Service was very good , friendly and smiling also checking our table very often. The ambiance it's ok nothing fancy or special also they need better ventilation because as soon as you enter you smell the food. Everything that we order we enjoyed and we will back soon to try more dishes

Super solid Korean spot in Milpitas!! I absolutely loved the Ban Chan variety they had. Personal favorite was the eggplant! Menu prices were pretty reasonable in my opinion, nothing that would make you jump out the chair though. The sweetness of the japchae paired really well with the tofu stew and the fried chicken with some rice! Fried chicken was great, tender and juicy. Too bad they only have bulgogi on their menu, really wished they also had galbi. Interior is spacious and there's great parking in the plaza as well!

We've been here 3 times already and the food here is so good. My husband has been here before when it was under a different management so it took some time to convince him to check it out. This has become one of our favorite Korean restaurants in the South Bay. We've tried a bunch of dishes here and my favorite has been yuk gae jong (spicy beef noodles) with the fresh hand made noodles. The broth is so flavorful and has a great spice to it. The portion is huge and we've taken the leftovers to eat at home. Other dishes we've tried have been the jja-jamg myeon, jjam-ppong, bibim-naengmyeon, the fried chicken (soy & garlic, honey & cheese), and grandma's galbi-jjim. All of these have been so good. It seems like this is a family owned business, which we appreciate and love to support. Everyone here is always nice and friendly. You know you've walked into an authentic Korean restaurant when you hear Korean being spoken among the staff and customers. If you're craving Korean food, definitely stop by here to get your fix!

Location: seafood city plaza. Lots of parking spaces but it does fill up quickly. Ambiance: spacious and clean. Service: we went when they weren't very busy and service was quick and attentive. The food came out quickly as well. Food: Seafood pancake: nice portion with a generous amount of seafood. The batter could be a bit more seasoned. Beef tofu soup: no complaints. Standard beef soup. Banchan: the spread was refreshing and helped cut down the richness of the pancake. Black bean noodle: this was the star of the meal. The flavor was there and the portion was generous. The only thing is the noodles are long so you might make a mess if you try to pull them to the end-you'll want to cut them.

    Jjajangmyeon - Black Bean Noodles
    Alisa B.

Yum!! My boyfriend and I had a date night here, so we were excited to try out their noodles! Probably some of the best jajangmyeon in the Bay Area right now. The pork was juicy, and they were generous with their onions. The black bean sauce wasn't super thick like other spots, which I enjoyed! The sauce was lighter, but still clung onto the noodles well. Though we're not crazy about jjampong, the noodles they use were the perfect texture. They didn't skimp on the seafood too. Lot of mussels, squid, etc. The broth was pretty light, but VERY spicy! The gun-mandu was also really tasty. Classic and a simple appetizer to share. I really liked the dipping sauce they provided!

You'll have to wait at least thirty minutes unless you get there extremely early. My party of nine was seated around 45 minutes after we first joined the waitlist. However, we were able to order our food ahead of time. The atmosphere of the restaurant was bustling and noisy, a super fun and casual spot. Our dishes arrived minutes after we sat down, which was impressive. There was also a variety of delicious side dishes, with various types of kimchi. The nine of us split two braised beef short rib dishes - and we were struggling to finish it all. The portion size is massive, which makes sense since it's a pretty penny. The meat was so tender, literally falling off the bone. There were a ton of potatoes, daikon, rice cake, and carrots as well. The entire dish was savory and delicious, pairing perfectly with rice. You can also specify your spice level. The medium spice was a fair amount of spice but not overpowering. I highly recommend getting the cheese on top, it provides a creamy contrast to the sharp flavors of the meat. I'm still thinking about the braised beef short rib - it was just that delicious!

The banchan variety is actually really good, which is a highlight for me, though the kimchi isn't my favorite. My personal go-tos are the Korean jelly (muk muchim), broccoli, tomato, and macaroni salad. I'd honestly come back just for the banchan spread. That said, for the price, the main dishes are just okay. One big plus: they serve purple rice, which I always appreciate. Service has been very hit or miss. Sometimes they're friendly and accommodating, but my last visit really threw me off. We asked for a refill on the muk muchim, and our server said they were "sold out"... but then the table next to us was immediately served it. I'd honestly rather they just say no than give an excuse like that.. it left a bad impression and made the experience feel off. A few thoughts on the dishes: * Budae Jjigae - A bit bland for my taste, heavy on kimchi and light on meats like spam, sausage, and bacon. * Galbitang - Light yet flavorful, with 3 large rib bones that had a good amount of meat. Comes with glass noodles, rice cakes, and thin egg strips * Japchae - Not complimentary here (you have to order it), but it's actually pretty good. * Seafood tofu soup - Just okay, nothing too memorable. * Galbi - Flavorful and reliable--can't go wrong, especially with purple rice. * Mul Naengmyeon - Refreshing and well done. * Seafood pancake - Crispy, not overly oily, and packed with seafood and green onions. * Bibimbap - Loved the crispy rice at the bottom, though the beef portion was a bit small. * Yukgaejang - Decent, but not as rich or flavorful as other spots. Overall, I'd say this place shines most in its banchan variety and comfortable dining space, but the inconsistency in both food and service makes it a bit harder to fully recommend

He told me it would take about 15-20 minutes, and by the time we got there around the 15 minute mark, everything was already ready to go. The soup was SO good. Plenty of tofu and a generous amount of beef. I also loved all the sides they included along with a bowl of rice. Every side dish was delicious, but the kimchi especially stood out. Honestly some of the best kimchi I've had in a long time. The portion was enough for both my daughter and I to share, though that's probably because we're both sick and couldn't eat too much. We're definitely looking forward to ordering from here again. Would love to try the seafood pancake and some of their other dishes next time!

I ordered the bibimbap pork rice. When it was brought to me, the waitress told me they were out of the sauce so it was very bland. Also to know they were sold out of seafood, squid, and bulgogi bibimbap. Half of the menu items were not available. There were also only 2 Bachan dishes. Kimchi and broccoli. Very disappointed.

The first two times were great -- they served a wide variety of banchan and the seafood tofu soup was packed with fresh shrimp, clams, octopus, mussels, and squid. My daughter also loved the galbijjim. On our third visit, we arrived right at 5 PM and were told they would open shortly because the cook was on lunch. We waited until 5:20 and they still weren't serving, so we ended up leaving. Our most recent visit was the last straw. They only offered two types of banchan (not even kimchi), and they were out of all dishes that included meat or beef. It was surprising for a Korean restaurant to not have Korean BBQ or short ribs available. My seafood tofu soup barely had any seafood, and I had to point out to the waiter that there was no shrimp at all. He later returned with a cheap frozen seafood mix and said they use a seafood mix, which was disappointing considering the higher quality seafood they used to serve (including head-on shrimp). They also did not serve the usual purple rice this time -- instead we were given dry white rice that seemed reheated. There was only one server handling all the tables and cleaning, so service was slow. It's disappointing because the quality used to be much better. Based on our recent experiences, we will not be returning anytime soon.
