Handing Tofu was a choice my daughter made to eat at for her bday. We love a good Korean restaurant so why not. Plenty of parking in the plaza where this restaurant is located. Easy to find. The restaurant itself is pretty small but was able to fit our family of seven. We were treated right when we came in . The lady server was good on attention to detail what we needed and friendly. We tried a few of their dishes but my family was so hungry, I couldn't take a picture fast enough of everything. Haha Tried their whole batch of soy garlic chicken wings. It was cooked well but the outside coating tasted a little overcooked and not as much flavor in the chicken or seasoning. The glaze was not enough. That was a little disappointing for me. Also had their mushroom tofu soup which was added from a combo meal with grilled pork or called Dwae Ji Bulgogi. This was good. Ordered their Galbi short ribs was my favorite. Their seafood pancake was big and crispy. We also had their grilled spicy pork Bulgogi. This was ok, not too spicy but it was more like shredded pork and not a big portion. Actually, for the portion for the meat was pretty expensive to me. Everything now is getting more expensive and smaller portions. We didn't drink alcohol so I can image how much this would be. Our party only ordered 1 soda. We ordered enough and everything was finished or my husband didn't want to leave any food. This was located in Milpitas so if in the area, I would like to try it again. Homey Korean spot with amazing food. The service was great and the two ahjummas working were super nice and friendly. The banchan was all top tier, but my favorites were the braised potatoes and marinated eggplant. The yukgaejang had good flavor and wasnt too spicy, and had a good proportion of the vegetables, brisket and egg. The samgyetang broth was really flavorful and the chicken was tender and stuffed with rice, jujube and chestnut. My new go to Korean spot in the area!
I believe it is a solid comfort Korean foods but nothing special extraordinary than that! I came here on Sunday and it was busy but no waited for 4 people for dinner. It is located in a not busy plaza so you will find plenty of parking spaces. The banchan was good with different varieties compare to other places especially the pickle eggplant. The combo short ribs with cold noodle was good but the galbi was small portion. The Bibimbap with add on chicken as protein was okay. The fried chicken was below average as the chicken was dry but the half portion was good side for shareable! I don't think I will want to go out of my way to go here unless I am near by the area as there are many others Korean restaurants that are better.
Really solid homey spot - my go to for mom & pop style Korean food in South Bay Imo their best dishes are their fried chicken, pancakes, and sizzling meat plates. Tofu soups are also solid but can vary in the flavor department depending on which one you get Seafood pancake has always been great everytime I've gone it's probably deep fried bc it's so crispy and has the oily shimmer to it but it's strong ASMR material bc of the crackle. Decent portion size too If they're good at frying that also translates to the chicken texture - good crisp Grilled meats are also good squid was p decent just wish there was more of it. Also had their spicy pork plate last time and it was also good Mushroom tofu soup was good texture and had nice hefty soft tofu chunks but flavor was a bit blander (I usually would opt for other meat based like beef) Staff are very busy but are very sweet They don't take reservations but were really accommodating for my large group of 9!!
This small and crowded Korean restaurant is quite different these days. Yes, it's no longer a 5-stars place, but more like 3.7 stars average spot. You can find better Korean foods out of town. This location is convenient and rarely has other tofu houses to compete with around here. Staffs do take much longer time to get to you. They are polite and do greet you. Sanitation needs work. Sticky floors and dirty plates/old bowls/utensils can easily upset customers here. It was opening hour too. This is my first time back after many years. $36.99 Bulgogi & Tofu Soup size was actually very disappointing now (so small). Yes, how did the portions get this much smaller when back then, a special combination order could easily feed two people. Not anymore. Combination soup was extra small sized bowl now. Banchan side dishes are still good and plentiful. We also ordered a $19.99 half order of soy garlic fried chicken which still tasted great. Soups are in the $19.99 range, so were most of the half fried chicken selections, and lunch entrees around $20.99 each. Definitely expect higher prices in future. I just wish the $36.99 special combo would be much better in taste and portion size again. There were zero sauce on the bulgogi now. Combination soup in tiny bowl was bland/white/yellow/missing onion garlic scallion anchovy flavor maybe? It's not the same as it used to be. Convenient place. Casual, but nothing above average nowadays.
I'm here for the galbi tang. It is perfection every time. The soup is well seasoned and the meat is fall off the bone tender. Pair this with side dishes and it's the most comforting meal during the winter. Along with the galbi tang, this particular time we ordered a combo tofu and bulgogi dish. The tofu soup was fine and the bulgogi was a bit dry. However, nice, quick and friendly service makes this place a joy to dine at.
3.5 stars It's located in a plaza with plenty of parking, which was convenient. The staff was friendly and polite, but service was quite slow and it took a while for our food to come out. The floors were also noticeably sticky. I ordered the soondubu combination medium spice. The spice level was milder than expected, but it was very salty. It usually comes with an egg but they didn't bring it out, so we asked and they brought one out after the food had already been served. The banchan were just average, nothing particularly memorable. Overall, I wasn't impressed and wouldn't come out of my way.
Good food! Ordered three tofu stew dishes with mandu, pork and seafood. Hit the spot - piping hot, fresh ingredients and soft tofu! Also ordered original korean fried chicken. Chicken was good but we enjoyed the tofu stew and accompanying bachan the most. Friendly atmosphere; definitely worth another visit to enjoy a meal here again
Upon walking in you feel immediately at home. The service was great and the food was nothing to look past. Korean Fried Chicken(no sauce regular) 3.5/5 - The chicken was moist but the flavor and seasoning was mild. Nothing that stands out but good quality. spicy galbijim 5/5 - Star of the show, great taste, big portions, and unique rice cakes(fried). Can't seem to find anywhere else that has this quality along with the cheap price. The MAIN reason why I would rave about this place. Fans of Galbi? Come here.
Came here for a quick dinner on a weekday night, close to 8pm. It was almost empty when we arrived, so we were seated right away. The hostess was super friendly. We ordered a cold noodle and the pork bulgogi hot plate with white rice. Once we placed our order, the hostess came out with all of the banchan, there was quite a selection, all of which were tasty. The food came out shortly after. The cold noodle definitely hit the spot, I was craving it for a while. The pork bulgogi plate was packed with meat, this was probably enough for 2 people to share and get stuffed off of, especially with the rice. I really enjoyed my meal here, it was kind of a no-frills experience, but the food was definitely tasty and worth it. Highly recommend!

The prices for some items like meats are marked up during dinner hours. Overall, a solid restaurant though a couple items missed the mark for me. RECS: + Galbi and mul naeng myun combo ($41.99, 4/5 stars) was so value. The galbi was tasty and the cold noodles were refreshing with chewy buckwheat noodles + Seafood pancake ($21.99, 4/5 stars) was super crispy! More like a fritter than a pancake PASS: + Soy garlic fried chicken ($19.99 half, 3/5 stars) was a bit dry and the batter tasted grainy. However, the flavor was so delicious + Spicy pork bulgogi ($29.99, 3/5 stars) had good flavor and I appreciate that it was spicy. What threw me off was the texture so I wouldn't get it again
First time at this place. Loved all the banchans!! And they will refill them too. Husband got the chicken bibimbop and I got the mushroom tofu. He loved the dolsot bibimbop. Everything was clean and the food came quickly. Good size portions and everything was tasty. As soon as we set down more people came in and everything the other tables also looked good. They give a wide variety of banchans, with my favorite potato. Kimchi was also good as I am a bit picky with kimchi and this one passed the taste test. Would definitely come back again in the future and try something else.

Found a great Korean restaurant in the Milpitas area! My friend discovered this place on Yelp, and we decided to stop by after work when we were craving some Korean tofu soup. We started with a generous assortment of banchan, and my favorite was the sweet potatoes. We each ordered the combination tofu soup and shared a half order of soy garlic fried chicken, seafood pancake, and beef bulgogi. I ordered my tofu soup extra spicy, and it was so good! I actually thought it could have been even spicier. The seafood pancake was delicious, with a wonderfully crispy texture. My friend commented on how juicy the fried chicken was, and I loved the light, crispy batter. The beef bulgogi was tender, thinly sliced, and served sizzling on a hot stone. Even though the restaurant was busy on a Sunday night, the food came out surprisingly quickly. Overall, it was a fantastic meal, and I'd definitely come back! read more
Wow, wow, wow! It's been a while since I've dined at a Korean restaurant that was so well-rounded across the board. Hansang Tofu checked every box between food, service, ambiance, parking... everything was on point. FOOD: 9/10 Every single banchan (side dish) they served was fresh and packed with flavor. I've been traumatized by restaurants serving funky-tasting kimchi or ban chan in general, so I was relieved that theirs tasted fresh and delicious. Honestly, all of the banchan were so, so good. I ordered the Naengmyeon (cold noodles), and this had to be one of the best bowls I've had. I really appreciated that they didn't skimp on the toppings. I've had naengmyeon elsewhere that was pretty bare, just buckwheat noodles, cold broth, and maybe a few strands of cucumber. Here, my bowl came with a hard boiled egg, two slices of beef, radish, cucumber, and a generous portion of noodles. The mustard and vinegar were ready and served on the side, as they should be. Their soy garlic wings were HELLA good. Perfectly double-fried, packed with flavor, piping hot, and the chicken was still juicy and moist inside. So good. SERVICE: 10/10 Friendly, kind, and efficient service!! Yes, yes, YES. We were greeted right away with such a warm, energetic welcome. All the tables were either occupied or still being cleaned, so while we waited, one of the ladies handed us menus. Then, as they were getting our table ready, she offered to take our order before we even sat down. By the time we were seated, our food was already being prepared. LOVE THAT!! They were also incredibly attentive throughout our meal. AMBIANCE: 9/10 The restaurant is spacious, very clean, and of course had K-pop music videos playing on the TVs at a volume that was actually enjoyable and not overwhelming. It's a comfy space. The side dishes should be UNLIMITED, especially at this price. Paying nearly $30 after tax and tip for a Tofu soup with no meat feels overpriced. I can only imagine the profit margin on a tofu dish lol What disappointed me the most was that when I asked for extra side dishes, I was told to "buy" them instead On top of that, the waiter seemed more focused on the FIFA World Cup match than on the customers. Service was slow, and it was difficult to get anyone's attention when we needed something. read more

I love this place! Really homey and cozy spot for Korean food. One plus is that they give a lot of variety of banchan - they are all delicious, especially their kimchi (which is ELITE - so fresh and good) and eggplant dish! (You can also order a separate to-go container for banchan!) Their seafood pancake is also REALLY good - so crispy! I also really like their tofu soup and fried chicken (get the wings)! When we're craving comfort food, we go to Hansang. They serve the best banchan that is refillable and available to purchase in larger sizes to enjoy at home. Our favorites include: combination tofu soup, yukgaejang, seafood pancake, and all of the bulgogis (we've tried all variations and none will disappoint!). The fried chicken is also delightful. Ambience: homey, casual, kpop plays in the background. Service: They are a small staff and do their best to serve tables quickly. Knowing this, don't be afraid to raise your hand if you need immediate help. They will gladly tend to you. Over the last year, they've added new menu items and we've noticed a slight change in their soups. They are less rich and a few times we felt they needed salt (-1 star). But this won't stop us from coming back to enjoy the other delicious foods! read more

We did a catering business with them and the food tasted good. Our menu included Soy garlic Fried Chicken, Beef Bulgogi , Jap-Chae, Korean Kimchi , Fresh Salad with Vegan Dressing, Braise Potato (Gamja Jorim) and white rice. They service speed was slightly off par as we had to wait for the salad to arrive a bit later. My favorites are the soy garlic fried chicken, which totally soaked up the flavors and the braised potato, which is sweet and savory in the soy sauce braise. Jap Chae is ok, no egg and slightly oily. Beef Bulgogi is a bit disappointing as the meat was overcooked. Overall I'm happy to stick with the chicken, potato and jap chae on my plate and be a happy luncher. read more

Unfortunately had bad experiences the past few visits. Ordered a lot each time except for today, where we just ordered an entree per person instead of ordering extra. Sometimes there aren't many customers and other times it gets busy depending on the time of visit, but regardless, the past few visits when asked for a refill on 2-3 dishes of their delicious Bonchon, none were given which I found odd given the how some other recent reviews stated they were given 1-2 rounds of refills. Today, even after reminding the server twice for a refill of two Bonchon sides that we hadn't finished yet (we only asked because the server came to ask how everything was), she took away the Bonchon that weren't finished yet and never gave the refill. Might as well not ask at all and not take away our unfinished food while we were still in the middle of our meal! Always tip well but this time tipped according to the actual service because this incident wasn't just once or twice. It's been the past few visits. So sad as their food does taste good but is also pricey. Like another reviewer said, service is not good. Food is good but pricey. The vibes of restaurant itself is like any other mom and pop shop. read more

One of my top Korean cozy meals in South Bay! Service is amazing, ambiance is homey. The side dishes are amazing!! I recommend the seafood pancakes!!! My coworkers and I were craving cold noodles so we stumbled upon Hansang Tofu on Yelp. When we pulled up to the restaurant my coworker was like, "oh! I had their tofu soup before and it's good, it's the closest tasting soondubu to what I had in Korea." So we were all excited to try the food! Do not come here during the lunch rush! We mistakingly went here at 12:00PM on a Tuesday and the wait for our food was terribly long. However, they did keep filling our ban chan as we waited. So that was very nice. Now about the food. After looking at the menu, we stuck with our original plan which is ordering cold noodles. And I wish I ordered the tofu soup because our cold noodles were disappointing. The noodles were soggy and the broth was as bland. They gave us one thick, hard, slice of beef that you cannot bite through with your teeth. Totally not worth the $21 per bowl price point. Their ban chan was delicious! Everything was flavorful and tasted homemade. I am willing to give hansang another try but will stick to maybe the tofu soup and seafood pancake. read more

Delicious Korean food with incredibly tasty Korean side dishes, all at wallet-friendly prices. The place was bustling with customers, yet I still managed to get a seat even during peak hours. I ordered the No. 7 Japchae and it was absolutely delicious . Happened upon here around 12:30 for lunch on a Friday. Glad we got there when we did cuz there were only two 4-tops left (but each could be separated into two 2-tops). Water and menus came quickly. We ordered spicy tteokbokki as an appetizer, dolsot bibimbap, and kimchi jji gae (kimchi stew with tofu and pork). Loved the banchan! The fish cake, pickled cucumbers, and eggplant were my favorites. My friend dug in hard to the potatoes. She said some of the potatoes were a bit undercooked. But we still had two refills on each of these dishes! Our main dishes were prepared well too, with great flavor and just the right amount of spiciness in the stew. The spicy tteokbokki wasn't too spicy and the rice sticks were cooked perfectly chewy. This is not a huge place, so seating probably isn't ideal for large groups unless you get there early (not sure if they take reservations). Parking was easy as this place is located in a strip mall. I love this family establishment. Support small businesses!! Their sundubu is amazing! Sizzling hot, flavored perfectly, with your choice of spice. Mine is HOT. Because if it's not spicy, it's not enjoyable. Their galbi is juicy and flavorful, though a little pricey. I feel like short ribs everywhere have increased in price. Also love their variety of side dishes. Their kimchi is actually the fresh one, geotjeori, and in my opinion, superior to the classic pickled kimchi. It's the only kind I'll eat. I'm obsessed. The ahjummas are very kind here and offer refills for the side dishes. read more
Our friends brought us to Hansang Tofu for dinner at the end of November. We enjoyed the food so much that we brought our family here for dinner tonight. The galbi beef and Japchae were delicious. We enjoyed the soup and rice noodle dish very much as well. It's a little pricey but we would recommend this place to othered and will be back again ourselves. read more
been here a couple times - have heard from my socal friends that this place is the closest/most authentic you can get to Korea Town up here came w a group - had to wait like 10min bc the place was too busy to seat us so we kinda just loitered inside & nobody said anything to us lol service was p fast once we ordered tho lots of sides - I noticed they gave us lots more variety than the tables that only had 2-3 people so I actually felt kinda bad soy garlic friend chicken - 7/10 I wish there was more sauce but also I felt like I like vons better so idk cheese friend chicken - 6/10 forgot to take a pic but it looked like Cheeto dust it was weird bulgogi - 6/10 lil dry seafood pancake - 8/10 they weren't stingy w the squid spicy rice cake - 7/10 nothing super special but it was good so idk spicy squid - 7/10 I forgot to take a pic but it wasn't that spicy anyways all in all about $200 for 5 people after tax & tip had plenty leftovers & pretty much everyone left really full read more

Came here again on a weekend lunch. It was quite busy and my party of 3 waited around 20 minutes. They seemed short staffed as there were tables that needed bussing for a while. The highlight was definitely the yukgaejang, which was rich and perfectly spicy. The dolsot bibimbap rice was a little soggy and the soy garlic fried chicken was a little dry. The chicken pieces were also kinda random, not just a mix of thigh/drumstick/breast that I expect based on Popeyes, Jollibee, etc. Loved all the banchan though! read more

Went back again for more great food! This place is really the best in the area. It's getting popular recently and I had to wait last time! So happy that they are getting more business. Great place for dinner with friends and family! read more
The food is always delicious here. I've come here 3 different times and enjoyed every meal. The kalbitang, fried chicken, and cold noodles are all really great. Even when I've ordered food to go they package the ban chan well and make sure you have enough to feel like you ate in the restaurant. read more

This is my first time at this spot and I must say I'll be back for sure! From the banchan alone! So much to choose from! My favorite is the potatoes and the daikon.you can actually buy them to go, and yes I bought an 8oz container of each . We also ordered the japchae, seafood pancake, Galbi and their soy n garlic wings. Paid $118 plus tip and was worth it . The chicken wings were crispy and the seafood pancake id compare to like the Korean version of a Filipino okoy! It was crunchy not soggy! The lady that served us was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean. Nothing fancy but that doesn't matter since the dishes were on point . My cravings satisfied! read more

an inconspicuous korean comfort food spot run by ajummas! we got the galbi and tofu soup combo! the galbi marinade isn't too sweet or savory and tenderizes the beef pretty well. the tofu stew comes with an array of banchan and a side of rice. their banchan selection is so good that they even sell it in bulk at the front desk. my personal favorite is the eggplant and sweet soy potato side dish. we also got the soy fried fried chicken as an add on. it was drier then last time and was a bit of an overkill for two people. anyways hansang tofu hits the korean food craving everytime :) read more
Yum! How has it taken me this long to try this spot? The tofu soup here is so so good, so rich and flavorful it definitely hit the spot! I thought the medium spice level was perfect! I also think if you're coming with someone else, ordering the soup and galbi combo is super worth it! I'm also a huge fan of their banchan here, the pickled cucumbers, braised potatoes, and fish cakes were our favorite! The service here was friendly and fast, the ladies were very sweet in giving us refills with our banchan as well! There wasn't any wait for us on a Wednesday night, but didn't seem like too many open tables either. Would recommend! read more

Back at hansang again, we always love hansang. It's still crowded and expect a wait. We got the squid with teobokki for the first time today. I was expecting Sautéed squid in the teobokki so I was disappointed with the crispy squid, but it was still very yummy. The squids were arranged on top so they stayed crispy, you can drip them in the sauce and it's nice. We got mild. For tofu soup I went with vegetable tofu soup and it was OK. It could have used some more type of Umami, maybe next time I will try mushroom or seafood. My husband went with his standby of cheese and ham and said it was delicious. We got medium for the tofu soups, but the Teobokki was a bit spicier. read more
