I placed a doordash order because I was craving hot and sour soup with pork and lemon chicken. I like how they packed the to go order, and the lemon chicken was breaded nicely so it had some crunch and also was tender. It all tasted very delicious and the hot and sour was nostalgic of the ones i would eat at chinese restaurants in santa cruz county area, but this wasn't too spicy, it seemed they automatically do pack up a chili oil to add after which was a nice touch. I would definitely order from this restaurant again, and I would be interested in dining indoors. The seating is like wooden chairs, and ambiance is nice and cozy very chinese restaurant vibes. I came here with my family for a birthday dinner, and had mixed feelings about the food. The kung pao tofu and the eggplant dish were both tasty and were worth the order. The vegetable fried rice was fine, but not much else to say about that. The Mongolian chicken was mixed in with so much onion that it was outweighing the amount of chicken, but it was also very salty compared to all of the other dishes. The spicy pan-fried noodle was also a let down as it was neither spicy nor had any notable taste. I would not order either of those two again. Get the 两张皮 (liang zhang pi) it's so good. Came with a very try strong mustard sauce but is so good if you like a kick. We got the large and the amount of food is crazy for 2 people. I love the variety of toppings they put in there too, including seafood, vegetables and meat. The black bean sauce noodles were ok, sauce is bit too salty for me and the noodle texture was too soft in my opinion. They only have 2 side dishes, kimchi and pickled radish, they were both ok. Second time here. Both visits it was pretty good. We had 3 people this day and we ordered Jajangmyeon, Jjiamppong, Eggplant Garlic, Dry Chicken Wings and Sweet and sour pork. They do Korean-Chinese style food. All the dishes we got so far were yum. Classic choices over here. It definitely satisfied our cravings. Koong's is alright. The food here is decent with a really big serving size. I found the Black Bean Noodle to be a bit salty and the crispy pork to be a little underwhelming. I'm familiar with this neighborhood, one of my favorite Poké Shops is right next to here, at Poki Run. I haven't really been to Beresford Square Shopping Center in a long time. I'm having me some Tomato Beef and Egg Chow Fun. This is somewhat more Korean style. This isn't just any Chow Fun, it kinda reminds me of Bò Lúc Lắc, 番茄牛肉燴飯, Kebab, or Pabellón criollo. I'm not sure if it's the original owners or was sold at some point, but the food seems to have stayed consistently good over the years. I wanted to come here after reading Elena C's review of the Liang Zhang Pi (LZP--yeah you know me!) because I'm always curious to try new-to-me dishes and it was a cold, rainy day and figured why the hell not? The Good: *Customer service was friendly, fast, and efficient. *Décor is simple and understated but enough to know one's in an Asian restaurant. *Complimentary hot tea! Seems simple enough, but so many places charge for simple things like this these days. *Who's down with LZP? Everybody! Essentially, it's a cold noodle salad with shrimp, squid, and more veggies than you can shake a chop stick at. The concomitant peanut-wasabi sauce was sweet, spicy, and delightful. *Black Bean Sauce Noodle (aka Jajangmyeon) is a popular Korean noodle dish that we'd tried before, and theirs was delicious. Earthy, sweet, and served with oodles of noodles. *Their Dry-Fried Fried Chicken Wings are nothing short of FANTASTIC! It is so crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. I think this was pretty good value for the money! I got the Liang Zhang Pi because I saw other reviewers raving about it. The takeout platter was GIGANTIC, but that was mostly due to how they laid out the ingredients. The amount of food itself was pretty generous, but definitely didn't fill the platter. The wasabi sauce was not for me, but the ingredients were good and I liked how much effort they put into the food. Because they're so popular, unfortunately the pickup experience wasn't so great. A ton of people were waiting for pickup orders, and it took me at least 10 minutes to get mine. read more

This was my family's first time here and it was overall a great experience. We were a party of 11 and they were able to fit us in a long row. But because we were in a row, it was difficult to have conversations with the people from the other end and it was getting annoying to pass food along and trying to fit it on the table. We ordered the Sir Fried black bean noodle, the Korean style fried pork, and their version of chicken salad. The chicken salad was perfectly crisp and their dressing they provide, I don't know if it's store-bought or made, came out very good. The Korean fried pork had to be one of the top dishes of the day as it was perfectly crisp with this huge bowl of sauce that you'd think was a soup but not. The sauce was like a sweet and sour sauce that perfectly complimented the crisp pork pieces. The black bean noodle wins the best meal of the day as it was made with black noodles and sauce on the side that had huge portions of diced onions, mushroom, and meat. The sauce was just the right amount of flavor and consistency was thick perfectly. Overall, I definitely had a great time eating here and I'm surprised I never knew about this place because I've been a big fan of black bean noodles. Would I recommend this place to others? I was looking for a place to satisfy an orange chicken craving in the Milpitas area and came across Koong's on a search and really glad I gave this place a try. When you come in the servers seat you immediately and place menus and plates on the table. There are QR codes on the tables and I thought those were used to place the order but the server came by to take our order which we didn't mind. We ordered the dinner combo with our entrees of orange chicken and walnut shrimp. The walnut shrimp had walnuts on the side rather than mixed in with the shrimp. The orange chicken was delicious and not overly breaded. The meat of the chicken was a good texture, not too dry nor rubbery. Pretty decent spot for Chinese-Korean food. Would want to go back to try more dishes, different dishes, but the staples were done fairly well. While it's not the "knock-my-socks-off" kind of flavor, it's solid and super comforting, exactly what you expect from a Chinese-Korean restaurant. My wife and I were craving some Korean food, specifically Tangsuyuk and Jjamppong. My wife felt like also adding a Kung Pao Chicken. The Tangsuyuk was how I liked it. Flour battered pieces of fried pork with piping hot sweet and sour vegetable dip. Yum. Manageable pieces of pork battered well was very satisfying to the bit, held the sweet and sour vegetable dip well, and gave you that crunch that made you feel like you're biting down on fried, crispy, goodness. Unlike some other restaurants that make Tangsuyuk with rice/mochi flour, my preference is the original style. The Jjamppong was good and comforting, but it was lacking the 'seafood-y' flavor. Don't get me wrong, the Jjamppong was still good. The noodles were chewy, the vegetables were nicely mixed into the dish. It was flavorful, it was hot, it was satisfying. But it didn't have that 'ocean' taste that I've become accustomed to when slurping up a spoonful of Jjamppong. I missed that, I craved that. The Kung Pao Chicken was pretty good. Lots of peanuts with good flavor. Seemed more like a classic Chinese dish. Service was excellent. Overall, our visit was pretty good. We came in on a Friday for a quick lunch. The menu is pretty straightforward -- all the basics of a Chinese fast food menu. We both ordered a personal size Wonton Soup and a Chinese Chicken Salad which came out as a huge portion (one order could've easily fed two people). We lunch'd over good conversation and enjoyed the food all around. Menu has plenty of options and would be a good choice for lunch or dinner. Service was prompt and we had zero issues. 3.5 stars. My go-to place of 10+ years for Korean-Chinese food unfortunately closed, so I began the search for a new place to go. I stumbled upon Koong's via Yelp and decided to give them a try. My husband and I placed an order for pick up. We got the Black Bean Noodles, Tangsuyuk, Dry Fried Chicken Wings, and Dry Fried Squid. Food was ready for pick up about 45 minutes later, and the food was still hot and crispy by the time we got back home. I looked most forward to their Black Bean Noodles and Tangsuyuk, which were both appetizing. However, I have to admit I was slightly disappointed because it was more on the bland side. However, their chicken wings and fried squid were tasty and would order them, again next time. Overall, Koong's is a good Korean-Chinese spot. I've found it! This was the best Korean black bean noodles I've had in the Bay so far. My only companions are to San Tung and Paik's--two wildly popular locations. Came here on a weekday evening and there was a handful of people going in and out for dinner. Takeout also seemed to be popular. The black pepper chow fun had good flavor but I wish there was more sauce. Also, the noodles are very bouncy and wet, almost squishy. This is not a dry, stir fried dish like pad see ew. I wish there was more meat. The fried chicken was tasty! I believe we got the salt and pepper, and there were chili peppers on it, but it was not spicy at all. As I said before, I liked these black bean noodles a lot. Since this place is Korean and Chinese, I wasn't sure which cuisine it leaned more towards, but it's probably a combination of both. The noodles were bouncy and the sauce was flavorful, although I wish they gave more to cover all the noodles. The sauce came separately and I would advise you not to dump it all in at once. I was looking for a specific dish called Liang Zhang Pi which combines mung bean flat noodles with a mix of egg, squid, pork, and veggies and found it at Koong's so I gave it a try. For less than $20 I got a big platter of food fit for an entire family. The wasabi/horseradish in the sauce was just right and everything tasted fresh. A delightful dish I also got the dry fried chicken wings which were solid as well. They're not as spicy as some of the other Korean fried chicken wings out there but they were well received among the house. Sad to only see 2 people during dinner on Sunday. As others highlighted, the food came out super fast. So how was it? -Liang Zhang Pi (5/5): I ordered the medium size but the platter that came out was HUGE. For a second I thought they made a mistake, but the bill confirmed I was only changed for a medium. The dish can be found in the salad section(?) and contains a healthy portion of clear and chewy noodles, egg, carrots, onions, cucumbers, mushrooms, shrimp, squid and pork. And once you down this goodness in their horseradish sauce and give it all a toss, your tastebuds will explode with flavor. Everything ingredient seemed to be amplified by the dressing. I would ask to go a little easier on the onions next time, but otherwise this is phenomenal! -Hot and sour soup (3/5): it was fine. Love Koong's. The food and people make you feel so homey and comforted. I love getting takeout here. Their black bean noodles are a classic. With that, you'd have to also get the Korean sweet and sour pork. Make sure it's the "Korean" one because once I ordered the "sweet and sour pork" and instead got the one with red sauce, which is good too but not what's usually eaten with black bean noodles. The Korean one has a clear sauce, the Chinese one has a red sauce. Lastly, the owners speak both Korean and Chinese! They might be from the northern part of China (aka Jilin) where Korean is also spoken, because their liang zhang pi, which is a northern Chinese dish, is one of the best in the Bay Area. read more
