    Kimchi Fried Rice w/Chicken Katsu
    Casey Q.

Very solid spot if you are feeling hungry after a shopping spree at HMart. I wouldn't go out of my way to come just for this, but it is quite convenient being in a Korean market. Although the food isn't the best of quality, the diverse menu and variety makes up for it. There are even prepackaged meals that the staff can reheat for you after purchasing that are cheaper than the menu items. Korean Fried Rice w/Chicken Katsu (4/5): Love that this came with some sides. The rice was good but not much kimchi flavor at all. The chicken katsu was breaded nicely and the flavor was good, but the skin fell off the chicken too easily.

Love the half off food or buy one get one deals. We love the fish tofu here and it tastes even better warmed up. The staff are really sweet too, tons of entertainment as well with the gacha machines across.

    Everything was amazing!

We came to do some shopping at Hmart & my niece had told me the ramen here is amazing & she was not lying! The beef ramen is delicious! The broth is so flavorful. The banchan is also very yummy. We also got some watermelon tea which was very refreshing but a bit too sweet for my liking. Service is fast and friendly- the service is cafeteria style.

We had the bibimbap, and it was really amazing! The portion was generous and the flavors were comforting and not too salty. The space was also very open but secluded from the rest of the store, so it was comfortable.

Food is always good! Side dishes are great. Very convenient to go to when shopping around. Staff is very friendly. Tables and chairs are always available and is also pretty tidy (as long as people clean up after themselves)

affordable and tasty not the greatest food, but def work grabbing a bite here while hmart shopping. especially their bibimbap, which comes out sizzling and loaded with meat and veggies. their katsu + kimchi fried rice is okay. katsu is a little bit dry and overcooked in my opinion.

Medium spicy beef ramen sundubu jjigae (tofu stew)
    Maggie W.

My friend and I decided to stop by the North San Jose H Mart to have lunch in the food court together! We both ordered the ramen sundubu jjigae, I got beef with medium spiciness and she got chicken with mild spiciness. My banchan was pickled cucumbers and fish tofu. Looks like according to the reviews, if you get regular sundubu without ramen they'll give you purple rice too!! Get your fix of carbs in whichever way you desire! The tofu stew was delicious, there was a LOT of ramen. It came with soybean sprouts, green onions, and some white cabbage/cucumbers/assorted vegetables. Overall really good, medium spicy wasn't burning at all and was the right level for me. My friend and I both enjoyed this location, the portions are very big too.

Foods pretty decent for a food court. Maybe a little in the greasy side. But it's expensive. Seafood pancake was about fifteen dollars. I'd say it's enough for a meal but you wouldn't want just that for a meal. So we also got the short ribs. Flavorful but too sweet. It does come with rice and soup but the soups a little bland. Not worth thirty dollars at all. They do have prepared foods also. Suns look pretty yummy. Order at counter and seat yourself. Cleanliness is determined by whoever sat before you.

Reasonable price and I was very satisfied with my taste! The service was also excellent. I always love coming back to this place with my family so I would definitely recommend this place.

I paid a few minutes before a family and another man paid for their food, yet my plates were warmed up after their total of 8 plates. They spoke the lady who was working's language and for some reason that meant they got priority over me as a customer. Wasted my entire 30 minute lunch break for something that normally takes 10 minutes at most. Worse part is she swapped one of my plates out without me knowing because she put it on the bottom layer of the bag. Had a pork and chicken plate, but ended up having two chicken plates. Food has always been okay at best, but after this experience I ain't coming back

Beef tofu soup was $1 more but only two pieces of beef

This is a quick stop if you'd like to get some soup before or after you shop. Just know it's quite expensive for what you get! And the service wasn't much, you bus your own tables. The person in charge had to call and confirm our receipt number even though we were the only there who ordered and were waiting... The ambience is loud since it's in a super market but very casual so it's nice to just catch up with a friend or something. My tofu soup was a disappointment it was $16.99 but there were barely anything in it except for mostly tofu and onions. And the beef tofu was the most spicy thing on the menu and it came with two pieces!!! And the soup was so salty. I could barely slurp on it. It was my first time there so I probably will not come back. I rather go to SDG Tofu house

Came here around 12. The restaurant is inside the H-Mart and there is plenty of seating. You can also buy banchan and prepared meals at this restaurant to-go or to eat there. Food was good and filling. If you get tofu soup, you will get a side of purple rice. For water and napkins, you will have to ask the woman at the counter to grab them for you. This place is perfect for a post-HMart shopping meal.

    Jane E.

Good quick food to grab or dine in. There are plenty of tables to sit. You order at front or can grab the premade meals in the fridge. They will heat those if you choose to grab one. Otherwise you can order a fresh option of Ramen tofu soup, tofu soup, katsu, udon noodles. Bbq iron plate and more. Located inside HMart. So plenty of parking in lot.

The reason why I came over here fairly recently was because I visited cousins and cousin in law that live near to give them Valkyries shirts and other shirts they'll send to the Philippines in over a month, and since they plan to be sending clothes over while telling me about the place, I gave them my Kate Martin and Kaitlyn Chen jerseys for the trouble as I needed to make room for my Veronica Burton jersey, which I wore when I met up with them, and my upcoming violet Gabby Williams one. (Go Valks!) The noteworthy parts the place has are the real good amount of banchan dishes, bibimbap and the short rib, the spicy one in particular. While I probably will not visit the place again anytime soon, at least I can keep this place in mind if I want Korean food without driving to Santa Clara. There's plenty of parking behind the spot. As you come in, the place looks simple, but it works. You have the adorable ajumma/ajumni to take your order. The stuff I ordered. I had water, banana milk and kimchi fried rice. Since I was the only one that had more than 1 drink, I told my cousins and cousin in law the banana milk, and they did bring up how on occasion, you see the drink in K-dramas. Of course, we laughed on how my parents never got into K-dramas and while I'm at it, Filipino dramas. Oh well. Oh, there's no doubt the food is good, and the place is too legit (to quit) as I did hear Korean from a different table. As I typed up, there are plenty of banchan dishes. Not Los Angeles amount of banchan dishes, but there are plenty of banchan dishes never the less. The kimchi fried rice dish may be simple, but it does give off that homey feel. Can't forget how Big actually is affordable, the big reason why my cousins and cousin in law like the place so much. The reason why the place doesn't get a perfect score. The place would have received a perfect score if, the major matter I remember here, the place has mul naengmyun (my favorite Korean dish). Originally, I wanted Japanese ramen before my cousins mentioned this place, and I was ready to pivot to having mul naengmyun, but I was told that the place doesn't carry the noodle dish. (Being a very good and logical dish to eat for at the very least half of the year in a city like here San Jose is the reason why of all of the Korean dishes, I like mul naengmyun the most.) There probably is one or two minor flaws I already forgot, but the lack of mul naengmyun is the dead on reason why I don't give the place a perfect score. On a side note, it's nice that I told the group what banana milk and mul naengmyun are, and by doing so, they learn something new regarding eating at Korean spots just in case. BigSpoon is a good spot. While it may not be as iconic as the places in Santa Clara, it is a good spot never the less. It does a good job at being a Korean spot for an area that is more so known for Mexican food. If you live on the east side, head on over here because the place should get your attention. +/BigSpoon is brilliant and spiffy because it has a terrific combination of good simple food, affordability and wonderful service. -/If only the place also has mul naengmyun.

I'm glad I did and was definitely delighted by the experience. Hot Stone Bibimbap 5/5: There was a review on Yelp saying that there was no crunchy rice at the bottom and that it was bland. As a fellow Korean, let me give you some advice. Wait a few minutes and let the rice cook more because the stone bowl is still hot. lift up the bottom until you see crunchy bits and then you could start mixing. Excellent mix of seasoned vegetables and rice. They give you the gochujang bottle sauce on the side. you can adjust it to your level. Soon Tofu Soup 5/5. I've had a lot of tofu soup of what I like about this one is that it had a good balance of tofu, kimchi was not super sour like some restaurants and they give you an egg on the side. Very clean finish. Banchan 5/5: The highlight for me was the banchan. I went with a very picky eater friend and she really loved the kimchi ,the cucumber kimchi ,the fish cakes, japchae. They put a lot of effort into making the banchan - which I recognize right away. They also fill up if you run out and the dishes are larger than normal restaurants. Amazing. You read my mind. Interior 4/5: It is a smaller, more intimate seating.( about 25-30 people) . It still has the vibes of of a Korean eatery with K-pop music playing on the TV screen, wooden benches and chairs. You'll have to wait a bit if you go during peak hours and parking is a bit difficult. I suggest going within the first hour they open up when there's less crowds.

He told me it would take about 15-20 minutes, and by the time we got there around the 15 minute mark, everything was already ready to go. The soup was SO good. Plenty of tofu and a generous amount of beef. I also loved all the sides they included along with a bowl of rice. Every side dish was delicious, but the kimchi especially stood out. Honestly some of the best kimchi I've had in a long time. The portion was enough for both my daughter and I to share, though that's probably because we're both sick and couldn't eat too much. We're definitely looking forward to ordering from here again. Would love to try the seafood pancake and some of their other dishes next time!

Our dishes arrived minutes after we sat down, which was impressive. There was also a variety of delicious side dishes, with various types of kimchi. The nine of us split two braised beef short rib dishes - and we were struggling to finish it all. The portion size is massive, which makes sense since it's a pretty penny. We waited until 5:20 and they still weren't serving, so we ended up leaving. Our most recent visit was the last straw. They only offered two types of banchan (not even kimchi), and they were out of all dishes that included meat or beef. It was surprising for a Korean restaurant to not have Korean BBQ or short ribs available. My seafood tofu soup barely had any seafood, and I had to point out to the waiter that there was no shrimp at all. He later returned with a cheap frozen seafood mix and said they use a seafood mix, which was disappointing considering the higher quality seafood they used to serve (including head-on shrimp). They also did not serve the usual purple rice this time -- instead we were given dry white rice that seemed reheated. There was only one server handling all the tables and cleaning, so service was slow. It's disappointing because the quality used to be much better.
