Roast Duck Egg Noodle add wontons for $4

My go to for comfort, bang for your buck meal. Their servings are huge. Definitely shareable size for those with smaller appetites. My favorite protein here is definitely the char siu, super flavorful and juicy. I also like the roasted duck, but I'm lazy to pick around the bones.

Was craving Chinese BBQ and this placed fit the bill. Cash only, but they have an ATM inside. We ordered the three meat plate (BBQ pork, roast duck, and soy sauce chicken), combo pan fried noodles (nice and thin), and scrambled egg and shrimp over rice. The food was exactly what we were searching for! Complimentary soup was the best version of free soup I have had - lots of cabbage and tofu. This place reminds me of other Chinese/Vietnamese restaurants I have been to in SF. Be sure to go up to the front to pay.

I ordered Togo. This is 2nd time they substitute my crab fried rice with shrimp and didn't tell me. Crab meat cost more. I thought it was a one time mistake but seems like this is common practice without telling customer or offer cash credit back. I'm not going to be ordering here again. Only reason I ordered the crab fried rice is I wanted some crabs or I wouldn't order from it in the first place.

My family and I have been coming here for decades now and the food never disappoints. I appreciate the variety in menu options and the food is so comforting for someone coming from a Chinese/Viet upbringing. SERVICE: The staff are always very friendly and hospitable towards customers' needs. They are really kind about receiving feedback. Although the interior of this restaurant isn't exactly modern, the staff make it feel like I'm eating at a friend's house. There was another customer who accidentally dropped a cup/dishware and one of the owners insisted she leave it for their staff to clean up safely. FOOD: *BBQ Meat combo over white rice -- this combo plate had char siu, roast duck, and soy sauce chicken over fluffy white rice. Their BBQ meats are displayed out front and always hit. Never too oily or salty. There was also a side of picked cabbage which was so delicious! Not too sweet nor sour :) I also got a side of green onion soup, which was tasty and washes down all the meat flavors well. PARKING: A bit challenging during the late afternoon and weekends because of grocery shoppers and EV Charging stations (that are always empty -_-), but weekdays are usually not too bad!

It's been a while since my family and I have stopped by Kim Tar BBQ. With us being in the area I made the decision to grab an item or two. Purchases for the evening: Salt & Pepper Calamari Seafood Chow Fun Food is made fresh so it did take a bit of time. The owner is courteous and although he isn't a man of many words, he may chat up a few words. Takeout packaging is sturdy and I had no issues getting the food home. The calamari is an absolute home run!! The pieces of squid is cut thick enough where you aren't crunching down on chips and there is a thin layer of crisp surrounding each tender piece. This is THE SPOT to order from when my calamari obsessed 4 year old is craving. The sweet and sour sauce is good, so good my daughter attempted to sip the container. FYI: If you are into something full of crunch, Kim Tar isn't the spot for you when it comes to this item. The seafood chow fun was okay. Not terrible but not something I'd request again. Upon opening up the container, I immediately knew the order was wrong. Not because of the restaurant but because we [the patrons] did not clarify one additional bit of detail. Ordering chow fun here will result in a plate of stir fry rice noodles and wet gravy smothered on top. If you prefer a dry stir fry like myself, make sure to let the staff know at the time of ordering. Flavors were a bit bland and soy sauce was needed but it was absolutely doable. 4/5 rating. I'll be back, most likely just for the calamari.

Needed to eat soft food after gum surgery. Got tired of bananas, yogurt and applesauce. Kim Tar to the rescue! Ordered #112 fish fillet porridge and it hit the spot. Made husby pick up bigger order later that day. Fresh food, friendly service and reasonable prices. Thank you Kim Tar :)

This was my first time visiting with my boyfriends family. Their family has been coming since they were kids. We of course did family style and ordered steamed rice, egg flower soup, duck, fried fish, and Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. We had a party of 5 with 1 kid and all those dishes were able to fill us up. We even had a little leftover duck. My favorite dishes were the fish and Chinese broccoli. This place was very popular on a Friday night. The servers were also very attentive and we got our food quickly.

I stopped by Kim Tar BBQ and got a takeout order of bbq pork chow fun (dry fried). It's very similar to beef chow fun only with bbq pork. They do have a bbq pork with egg, bok choy, and brown gravy, which is also good. It all depends on what you are feeling like. Still CASH ONLY.

Service is great and food is excellent every time. They have delicious Asian roast duck, pork and our favorite is the stir fried kidney. Very layback environment and the workers there are really nice and helpful too.

    Dry like TAR

Extremely disappointed, ordered a 1lb of Bbq Pork and half of the order is inedible. Everything was dark and not appealing. Extremely lean and chewy. If you order from here, it'll be best to pick and choose your pieces rather than having them choose for you. As I was not looking during the cut nor selection, i wouldn't be surprised if they just handed over the most unwanted piece :(

    Raymond M.

Great customer service. The man who took my order was friendly. The fried rice was good, freshly made. BBQ pork was good. Crispy pork was bland, dry, and the skin was not crunchy. You can dine in or take out. Cash only, ATM is available. Plenty of parking spaces.

Beef chow fun with black bean sauce. My favorite dish.

An unforgettable barbecue sandwich experience? You'll find both here at South Winchester BBQ. I was in the mood for a good barbecue sandwich and found myself at South Winchester BBQ. The sun shone high, the breezes blew gently, and it was busy with lunch goers that day. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich with a side of coleslaw and got myself a glass of water. Then I went outside to the patio where families and friends ate their lunches while their dogs looked on. The patio was sheltered from the street and provided a quiet place for community to gather over good food and drink. It would be a wonderful spot to enjoy my meal. My name was called, and I went to get my sandwich. The first bite was excellent! Juicy meat slices accented with the robust, savory, light sweet notes of smoked California oak wood. Fresh buns buttered and lightly toasted on the flats. Brought together as a well-done sandwich, every bite was savory meat and spiced rub, sweet barbecue sauce, and light crunch of toasted bread. The coleslaw was finely chopped cabbage tossed in a creamy, mildly sweet dressing, with a dusting of cracked black peppercorn on top. A welcome refreshing side to my tri-tip sandwich, the coleslaw cleansed the palate and balanced out my rich meal. The tri-tip sandwich and coleslaw sure paired up to pack a delicious punch. South Winchester BBQ was a definite win in my books. Next time I want a good barbecue sandwich, I'll come back for more. I know I'll be in for a delightful time!

The location that we went to is located next to Maggiano's Little Italy in Santana Row on Olin Ave. There is a free 2 hour parking structure across of the restaurant where my boyfriend and I parked at. We came during their Lunch Specials (until 4pm) and Happy Hour (from 3-5:30pm) which worked perfectly as we wanted something smaller in portion compared to the dinner portions. We started off with drinks. I got their Pig Ol' Bitties Blonde Ale, and my boyfriend got their Friday Beer & Shot special of This Little Piggy Went to [Mark]et with a 16 oz Dirty Little Pig IPA and a shot of Benchmark whiskey. My fault for having him get a whiskey shot on an empty stomach, though HAHA. He did like how smooth the whiskey was at least! We shared a 2-meat BBQ Lunch Combo Plate, and honestly, we should have gotten 3 meats because of how tender and delicious everything was! We got their Tri Tip and Sliced Brisket with their Garlic Mash and server recommended Sweet Potato Tots. Ahhh, everything was so good! Aside from the tender, flavorful meats, the two sides, especially the garlic mash, were sooooo good. We both loved everything! It was definitely a great choice coming during lunch as we were quite full after ordering one of their happy hour shareables of Chips & Queso (kind of pricey even for happy hour in my opinion for chips and cheese). Honestly wished we got their Chili Cheese Fries or their other fries which were the same price than just chips and dip LOL. But it was a good hold over food with us drinking a bit (at least for me). Shoutout to the only server who was working on a late Friday afternoon as she was doing her best to accommodate everyone + trying to clean up the previous tables. It was kind of sad seeing that the other workers didn't help bus the tables in my opinion. Overall, a great place to watch sports and have some good whiskey as this restaurant is known for their whiskey selections! The lunch BBQ exceeded our expectations, and we would definitely come back for another lunch special meal but probably with 3 meats this time!

At many restaurants, that would be a problem. At Henry's, it becomes a reason to test the rest of the grill. We ordered the Porterhouse and the Sirloin, both medium rare. The Porterhouse was solid: balanced seasoning, clean grill flavor, no unnecessary tricks. A lot of restaurants can do a good Porterhouse because the cut already has drama -- bone, fat, tenderness, presentation. But Sirloin is different. Sirloin exposes the kitchen. Especially that strip of fat running along the edge. If the grill work is careless, that fat becomes chewy, greasy, or wasted. Henry's handled it beautifully. The meat stayed true medium rare, while the fat edge was properly rendered, lightly charred, and full of beef aroma. That is real steakhouse skill. Medium rare lean meat plus properly rendered sirloin fat is not automatic. It takes timing, fire control, and experience. The baked potato was simple and correct. The salad was classic old-school steakhouse style. Dark beer still feels like the right companion here. Henry's is not trying to become trendy. It is not chasing presentation. People come here to eat steak, drink beer, and trust the kitchen. Prime Rib is still the ritual. But this visit proved something important: Henry's is not only a Prime Rib place.
