It's been a long time since I was here last, and it's still as good as the first time over 14 years ago. Beef rib 9/10. Still one of the best beef ribs I have ever had this side of the Mississippi. pretty disappointing father's day dinner. I ordered food for take out to treat my dad, as he doesn't go out to restaurants much anymore. he was pretty excited for it, but the whole meal was very meh. I ordered one of their meal packages, plus some extras on the things we needed more of. the meal package was supposed to include 2 types of bbq sauce plus ranch for the wings. they didn't give us any of the bbq sauces or the ranch. considering they charge $5 each for sides of sauces, that's $15 they shorted me. so we had dry chicken wings with nothing to dip them in... which means nobody wanted to eat them. there's another $25 I was out. we ended up having to use the bottled sauces that I bought as a gift... another $20 gone. pulled pork was fine. the brisket was pretty tough. my dad usually loves leftovers and didn't want to keep any of it... so that said a lot about the meal all by itself. the positives (?): cornbread was pretty good. wolf turds were good (though crazy expensive for what they are - only 2 come in an order for over $10). mac and cheese was good, though it has far less meat than it used to. all in all, not a positive experience. seems like they've really gone downhill. if you order to go, check your order carefully before you leave. they had everything ready when I got there and had tied the bags shut (double knotted), so it would have been hard to get them open. do yourself a favor tho and take the time to open each bag. it sucks to get all the way home and find key items were left out. read more

What a solid spot! It definitely hit a craving for amazingly tasty meat. Brisket: 10/10 the texture couldn't have been better! They have three options, fatty, lean, or mixed. The food was honestly incredible. It's hard to even pick favorites because literally everything was so good, but if I had to choose, the mac and cheese, cornbread, and ribs definitely stood out. We ordered the Family Pack #3, which I believe is the big one meant to feed around 8-10 people, and it absolutely delivered. We had 10 people in our group, and every single person was full and happy. Classic, a sweet honey base, a mustard base to be med heat, and a habanero base they said was hot. I tend to like my bbq a little more on the sweet sauce, so i opted to use the classic and honey. A lot of meat was packed on this sandwich, so i tend to deconstruct, take half the meat out, add sauce, and layer it again with more sauce on top. The bun was nicely toasted. Food arrives on a metal tray with parchment paper, silverware. Meat was great. Booked long to where it was easy to cut through, while still being juicy and not dry. It didn't stand a chance. The Smoking Pig is alright if you're craving barbecue, but I'm sorry to say I didn't love it. It's on par with other barbecue places in the Bay Area. The inside is very low key and family friendly. The service was pleasantly casual. Ribs come in the Premium Combo Platter. The Classic Combo covers only the other meats. You get cornbread or rice and one side. I'll go item by item: Pork Spareribs: Three ribs in the combo platter. They were nice and tender, but I would absolutely love more smoke flavor. Angus Beef Brisket: Choose moist, lean, or both. This had a nice flavor and textures. It also looked great, though again I'd like more smoke. Chicken Leg Quarter. Giant leg quarter! The skin and meat definitely had that telltale smoked texture, but again I was missing the smokiness. The sauces helped. Burnt Ends: I was disappointed. They're sticky-glazed and and sharply cubed which is fine, but our serving had big chunks of unmelted fat which isn't so pleasant or edible. Sunday Chili Fries: These came out late for some reason. The fries were nice and crisp. The chili itself was tasty, if a little spaghetti sauce-like. It was a nice offering. Cornbread: The honey butter on top was weirdly crumbly or curdled? See pic.
