While in SF we decided to check this place out for lunch. We ended up sharing their 3 meat combo plate. We tried their prime brisket, pulled pork, and smoked links. Also got a side of mac n cheese and coleslaw. It also came with a pickle and a cornbread. All the meats were insanely good. Perfectly seasoned, cooked, and flavorful. The brisket was so moist. The pulled pork was just delicious. And the smoked links were just perfection and one of the best links I've had at a BBQ spot. The mac and cheese and coleslaw were also good and the corn bread was nice. They have two types of BBQ on the side for you as well. I like the creamier one. We paid about $30 for the 3 combo meat plate with 2 sides. It's a spot where you order ahead and pay and they call you once its done. The inside is smaller and simple but they have tables and chairs for you to sit and eat. It was busy when we came for lunch that Thursday but we still manage to find a place to sit fine. And there was just one guy in front of us in line. They have a small lot in the back otherwise you have to find street parking. But well worth it if you are craving BBQ and are in the area.

1/2 Prime Brisket with Cowboy Beans & Mac n Cheese

This is another popular restaurant that I always see when researching new barbecue in San Jose I can try.. I decided to make the trip over to finally see what the hype is about. Staff was helpful giving some recommendations on what sides to try along with the most popular meats. Ambiance is spacious, with long, island like tables in the dining room. The pork ribs were at a good quality, but I've had better in other places, it was missing its tenderness throughout the rib. Brisket was the star of the show for me, I enjoyed every bit of that 1/2lb -- the bark is to die for, amazing blast of flavor with a kick. The cowboy beans were piping hot which I love, but boy were these beans a bland experience. Zero seasoning almost like it was straight from the can. The mac and cheese was seasoned well but barely warm.. the sides could have been a lot bette There wasn't really a sauce bar to help yourself, just a few bottles on the counter. I tried one that was some sort of berry bbq and it paired surprisingly well with the brisket. Overall, worth a visit, expect the normal high San Jose prices, and try the brisket while you're here **If you are coming to try their Dino Beef Ribs, they sell out very quickly so best plan to arrive BEFORE 12:30 (they close at 4)

It was our first time here. We mainly came to try the beef dino rib. This place was busy for a late Sunday morning. I really wanted to try the breakfast items but had to stick to the plan lol. The person who helped me was super nice and friendly. He was recommending one of the breakfast items and told me it was guaranteed to put me in a food coma. I told him I'll try it next time. While I was waiting, the place itself was pretty big on the inside. Parking is a little tough. My husband had to look for parking while I went in to place my to go order. The dino rib was delicious and tender. Mac n cheese and potato salad were solid side items. The lady who gave me my order was eh. I kept asking to make sure I had bbq sauce. She was like yes, even the person helping me asked. I walked out one of the bbq sauce fell out. I got home, and all we had was one small container of bbq sauce. That was annoying. I had 2 dino ribs and all she gave me was 2 mini sauce containers. Luckily, the beef rib didn't need it but come on.

Two-meat "combo": brisket on top, pork ribs under. Sides are Cowboy Beans, Potato Salad, and Cornbread.

Food: More than enough. As tasty as it could have been close to closing. No issue with the pork ribs nor the brisket. If you don't like peppery bark, then consider other meat options; if you do, you'll appreciate their offerings. I ordered the "two-meat" option: your first meat is of larger quantity/weight than your second meat. One of the better and more consistent BBQ spots in the city. Service: Friendly and courteous. Not pushy and answered questions I had. Checkout was easy. Ambiance: Only one other customer in the place as they were closing soon. (I got my food to go.) Menu was clear and front and center. Food prep was being done in the open. Register was off to the side and checkout was easy.

I've seen this place on Yelp for a while now but I've been hesitant to try it because, to be honest, barbecue in the bay area just isn't that good. But today I was craving it, so I gave it a try, and I'm glad I did. for just $21, I got 6 pretty giant pork ribs, which were very flavorful and juicy. I also tried the brisket (roughly $25/lb), which was not as tender or juicy as I'd want but still good. Again, it's not going to be the best barbecue you've ever had if you ever had barbecue in the south, but it definitely hits the spot!

Got a takeout order at lunchtime on a Saturday. This place has lots of options, including breakfast tacos, which are pretty hard to find outside of Texas (I'll have to try theirs next time I visit). Great: Brisket - visually nothing special, with no smoke ring or charred bark on the exterior. Super tender and even the lean pieces have a tenderness to them that you wouldn't guess from their look. Seasoned well, too! I'd venture to say these don't need sauce. Pulled Pork - lots of fatty bits mixed in to keep it moist, which I find wanting in other BBQ spots here in the Bay. Also seasoned expertly and doesn't need sauce, although it can't hurt if you like the sauced flavor. Cornbread - muffin style. Moist with a tender crumb, and not too sweet. Well done! Mac and cheese - super simple, cheesy with a very tender macaroni, which I am a fan of. Good: Potato salad - solid potato salad, although I think potatoes are easily left underseasoned. This one could use a touch more vinegar or mustard and black pepper to bump up its score. It was, however, cooked very well and had good herbs to add some color. This is arguably the best BBQ I've had in the Bay Area, at least thus far. Prices are super reasonable, on par and in some cases lower than some of its local competitors for meat by the pound. I will certainly be returning!

One day I was craving bbq and I haven't had any good ones so I never really bothered trying to find it. However today I was close to settling for famous Dave's but I decided to look it up to see if there was anything new. I happened to find two near work. Jon Jon's and mesquite & oak. Since the combo for Jon Jon's don't let you substitute out the sides I went here instead. The place is nice and clean and everyone there was nice. They seen me looking at the togo bbq sauce and asked if I wanted to try different ones. I got the brisket, pork ribs, and Dino beef rib because that's the first time seeing it at a bbq joint. The brisket was good and the Dino rib was huge and juicy. The pork ribs was okay to me but that's just me because my coworker liked it. The Mac and cheese side was really good and the corn bread had real corn in it! I forgot my sauce and the cook ran out to hand it to me. Good customer service.

Good authentic BBQ. Meaty Dino ribs, spicy hot links as they should be. They're Carolina gold sauce is fantastic mix with their mac n cheese with pulled pork and you wont be disappointed

2 meat combo (Brisket and Dino Rib) with potato salad, mac and cheese and cornbread. Brisket taco was ordered separately

This place is soo damn good. My wife and I stopped by yesterday and got the 2 meat combo (Brisket and the Dino Rib) with potato salad and mac and cheese. We also go the brisket tacos and they were definitely life changing. Everything came out hot and fresh and it was plenty of food. Service was great ans we will definitely be coming back soon!

Combo: Spare Pork Ribs, Smoked Link, Mac&Cheese, Potato Salad & Cornbread
    John L.

My friend has been wanting to go to Mesquite & Oak for some barbecue, so we went for lunch. I ordered the combo with pork spare ribs, hot link, Mac & cheese, potato salad and cornbread. Everything but the Mac & Cheese tasted good. Ribs and link was cooked perfectly. My scoop of the Mac & Cheese must have been in the last in the pan because one of my friend's Mac was much more creamier, because mine was not. Potato Salad here is a must get. Cornbread was good as well. Parking sucks here however. I had to park three blocks away. Just the way it goes with places in downtown.

    Solomon C.

A nice little joints to grab a bite. The lady taking the orders was a bit stand offish, as if you just disturbed her from something important. Wasn't rude, just not welcoming. Any who, the portions of meat were in sink with cost. The ribs were a hit 5/5. The CORNBREAD was delicious 6/5. The 1st time that I ever had actual corn in my cornbread. The Brisket was just a tiny bit over cooked. Don't get me wrong, it was good just a bit over cooked 4/5. The mac&cheese was like a soup. Taste was good but I was just throwed off by the consistency 3/5. The potato salad lacked all types of flavor 2/5. That was the only real disappointment I had. On a positive not the potatoes were not undercooked. The portions on sides were a bit small. But hey I can't really complain since I don't have a large appetite. Overall the place is worth the drive. A different day may yield better results

We got a Dino rib and beef brisket , some chicken and several side dishes . great reviews from everyone at our table and I also really enjoyed the cornbread. I'm generally not one for barbecues. I don't seek out barbecue places but I was told this place is really good and it did live up to expectations. Because I always have to be real I have to say I hate paying two dollars for a can of soda though so maybe try their lemonade or something else.

The people here are really nice. It's a hole in wall kinda bbq place. The food is pretty solid. The bbq is great, it's fatty and juicy. The sides are amazing. I love the coleslaw, mac n cheese is solid, and I also really liked the potato salad. It's typically not the busy either and I would definitely come here again and support :00 NOTE: There's parking around the corner and street parking as well.

An unforgettable barbecue sandwich experience? You'll find both here at South Winchester BBQ. I was in the mood for a good barbecue sandwich and found myself at South Winchester BBQ. The sun shone high, the breezes blew gently, and it was busy with lunch goers that day. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich with a side of coleslaw and got myself a glass of water. Then I went outside to the patio where families and friends ate their lunches while their dogs looked on. The patio was sheltered from the street and provided a quiet place for community to gather over good food and drink. It would be a wonderful spot to enjoy my meal. My name was called, and I went to get my sandwich. The first bite was excellent! Juicy meat slices accented with the robust, savory, light sweet notes of smoked California oak wood. Fresh buns buttered and lightly toasted on the flats. Brought together as a well-done sandwich, every bite was savory meat and spiced rub, sweet barbecue sauce, and light crunch of toasted bread. The coleslaw was finely chopped cabbage tossed in a creamy, mildly sweet dressing, with a dusting of cracked black peppercorn on top. A welcome refreshing side to my tri-tip sandwich, the coleslaw cleansed the palate and balanced out my rich meal. The tri-tip sandwich and coleslaw sure paired up to pack a delicious punch. South Winchester BBQ was a definite win in my books. Next time I want a good barbecue sandwich, I'll come back for more. I know I'll be in for a delightful time!

The location that we went to is located next to Maggiano's Little Italy in Santana Row on Olin Ave. There is a free 2 hour parking structure across of the restaurant where my boyfriend and I parked at. We came during their Lunch Specials (until 4pm) and Happy Hour (from 3-5:30pm) which worked perfectly as we wanted something smaller in portion compared to the dinner portions. We started off with drinks. I got their Pig Ol' Bitties Blonde Ale, and my boyfriend got their Friday Beer & Shot special of This Little Piggy Went to [Mark]et with a 16 oz Dirty Little Pig IPA and a shot of Benchmark whiskey. My fault for having him get a whiskey shot on an empty stomach, though HAHA. He did like how smooth the whiskey was at least! We shared a 2-meat BBQ Lunch Combo Plate, and honestly, we should have gotten 3 meats because of how tender and delicious everything was! We got their Tri Tip and Sliced Brisket with their Garlic Mash and server recommended Sweet Potato Tots. Ahhh, everything was so good! Aside from the tender, flavorful meats, the two sides, especially the garlic mash, were sooooo good. We both loved everything! It was definitely a great choice coming during lunch as we were quite full after ordering one of their happy hour shareables of Chips & Queso (kind of pricey even for happy hour in my opinion for chips and cheese). Honestly wished we got their Chili Cheese Fries or their other fries which were the same price than just chips and dip LOL. But it was a good hold over food with us drinking a bit (at least for me). Shoutout to the only server who was working on a late Friday afternoon as she was doing her best to accommodate everyone + trying to clean up the previous tables. It was kind of sad seeing that the other workers didn't help bus the tables in my opinion. Overall, a great place to watch sports and have some good whiskey as this restaurant is known for their whiskey selections! The lunch BBQ exceeded our expectations, and we would definitely come back for another lunch special meal but probably with 3 meats this time!

Great place to come with friends to drink and eat good food!…read more Yes, its a bit pricier than normal skewer places, but i love the ambiance and vibe in here! super cyber-punky and sometimes they have live singers here! You cant really find a skewer place with this type of vibe, def a spot i like to take my out of town friends to for a good time I love getting the fried tofu skins, this is my favorite skewer to get. I actually prefer the regular skewers than the mini skewers just because the mini is so small you have to really bite into the metal stick (which can stab your mouth if your not careful, especially if you end up drinking too much) razor clams are bomb here! Yes they add hella chillies in here so you have to pick it out, but its hard to find places with a razor clam dish that is super tasty and flavorful The alcoholic drinks here are super unique and interesting, my method is to go for the cutest branding, and just order it, and suprisingly it ends up working in my favor LOL my favorite part, is the seasoning they use on all the skewers! that classic chinese taste :D

Been to Discovery Fusion so many times for late night bites, it never disappoints! I've noticed…read morethat depending on the day, the later you come, the louder it gets as they have live karaoke here. This place has such fun decorations and I love all the neon lights here as it's very well lit up inside. My top 3 favorite skewers are the beef, enoki, and a-choy. They're all coated with the same seasonings here so it's easy to get tired of so I always order a few of the grilled vermicelli oysters which are so tasty, and I love all the garlic it comes with! Some other good skewers are the chicken skin, pork belly, and corn. Love the drinks here too, most recently noticed they added an alcoholic blind box to the menu and it was so exciting to try 12 different mystery shots. Even though I did not enjoy half of the drinks, this is probably the most fun drinking concept I've seen at a restaurant and I'd absolutely order it again. The ambiance, customer service, and food are always all great - I'll never say no to dinner a Discovery!

Henry's remains one of the old-school steak houses I keep coming back to because consistency here…read moreis not marketing. It is culture. This visit, the Prime Rib was already sold out. At many restaurants, that would be a problem. At Henry's, it becomes a reason to test the rest of the grill. We ordered the Porterhouse and the Sirloin, both medium rare. The Porterhouse was solid: balanced seasoning, clean grill flavor, no unnecessary tricks. A lot of restaurants can do a good Porterhouse because the cut already has drama -- bone, fat, tenderness, presentation. But Sirloin is different. Sirloin exposes the kitchen. Especially that strip of fat running along the edge. If the grill work is careless, that fat becomes chewy, greasy, or wasted. Henry's handled it beautifully. The meat stayed true medium rare, while the fat edge was properly rendered, lightly charred, and full of beef aroma. That is real steakhouse skill. Medium rare lean meat plus properly rendered sirloin fat is not automatic. It takes timing, fire control, and experience. The baked potato was simple and correct. The salad was classic old-school steakhouse style. Dark beer still feels like the right companion here. Henry's is not trying to become trendy. It is not chasing presentation. People come here to eat steak, drink beer, and trust the kitchen. Prime Rib is still the ritual. But this visit proved something important: Henry's is not only a Prime Rib place. They know beef. - Dr. C Fire controlled. Fat rendered. Medium rare verified.

There was four of us who got the fillet one got the teriyaki chicken and I had the ribeye not a bad meal at all. The food was really good. Steaks were cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was fun. The drinks were flowing and the steaks were really good. I recommended next time you go to a sharks game start your night off over at old Henry's famous high-life!

Pretty darn close to a genuine AYCE Korean BBQ you would see in LA/ K-Town! From the Bay to Sac, I have yet to find a spot like this one. Shoot, all they were missing was that cheesy corn thingy! Speaking of which, Im gonna make some for breakfast hahha. The price was a bit high, imo. I don't remember KBBQ being so pricey, again, maybe it's because I'm just old now, lol. Then again, because I'm old, everything seems expensive to me. Not only expensive, everyone there seemed so young. So, in conclusion for this review, if you are rich, young and hungry...this is your spot! Haha I will be going back, though, for sure! I want to take my wife and 3 little kiddos! My oldest, 8 year old, will love it! He loves Korean food (duh, we're Korean) and he loves steak! So get ready, yakiniq SJ/ actually, we'llgo to the one in Livermore (closer)! My 3 little terrors are gonna crash your spot!! Lol Good times! We definitely ate a lot. We'll, my two buddies did! Psst!! Dear, restaurant people, we should open up one of these near the Sac area!

You also have great sides and dipping options. You also have a great ambiance, the stools are short and the beers are tall. Really is a great place to feel chat and drink.
