Brisket Sandwich with potato salad & bbq beans. Good portions, and filling.

Lunch date with the family. First time trying this spot. It has indoor seating and covered outdoor seating. It's got the picinic vibe with the red checkerboard table cloths. It smells good too. There is a kiosk to order food, but you can order at the counter if you only have cash. It was busy, so I thought we'd be waiting awhile, but our order came out fast. We got the three meat dinner plate, a Brisket Sandwich combo, peach cobbler and canned sodas. I was very surprised at how much meat they give you, tasted smokey and the bbq sauce is real good. As for the sides, they seemed small, but definitely very tasty. The peach cobbler is not traditional cobbler, I wasn't a huge fan, and probably would not get again. I will come again when I'm hankering for BBQ, good portions, good service and good price.

After hearing amazing things about Jon Jon's bbq spot, Glad I found this gem. The food is delicious. My order was a brisket sandwich with meat that was nice and tender, so flavorful!!!. I will definitely be coming back anytime I'm craving BBQ food, and the people are incredible.

Jon Jon's is a local bbq place that has been on Old Oakland Road for awhile. I mean you can smell the smoky bbq as you approach the restaurant stop. They were established in 1995. Parking is hard and challenging at this place especially during peak hours. Small restaurant holds several tables inside but mostly people sit outside at the covered picnic tables in a dirt lot. The owner was friendly and welcoming! No table service. Order at the counter, pay, and they will call your name. Credit card fee applied, otherwise cash is king. Syd's St. Louis Style Rib Tips: served with beans, potato salad, & roll. The rib tips were tender and fall off the bone. A generous portion size. The potato salad was good and creamy. The baked beans were good, but sorta reminded me of canned beans. Sorry, I grew up eating Dennison's and Campbell's which I love and this reminds me of those. I'll be back to try their other dishes. Support your local business!

Ribs plate. I got into it before I took the pic.

Been here many times. Staff is great. Really enjoy the vide of a small town bbq joint in a city like San Jose. Small dinning area with seating out side as well. I always get some ribs and brisket! LOVE IT! The potato salad is good but those beans... serve me in a bucket please. Price is a little high but I believe it is worth it. Also they show a lot of love for the men and women that served in the Military. That alone is worth my business.

I've worked around the corner for 5 years and finally decided to try this place. Got the rib, brisket, polish dog combo. -2 stars because I ordered a polish dog and they clearly gave me a hot link. It's SPICY and not what I ordered. -1 star because it took a looooong time. Do not go if you're in a hurry. This is bbq and I understand it's a slow food, but it did take quite a long time to receive the food after ordering. -1 star for no substitutes on side. I don't like potato salad that has pickles, and would have preferred to do extra beans. It was bizarre that the takeout container had slots/compartments to put the sides in, but they were in separate containers. Quite a bit of plastic waste. Why were the beans the best part of the meal? They were buttery and delicious. Wish they had a better bread rather than just a cold squished Hawaiian roll. Brisket was okay. Rib was large and meaty. Nothing to write home about but overall decent bbq if you like less sweet sauce and are not in a hurry. I probably wont be back.

My brisket roll and potato salad and bbq sauce on the side . Yummm!

The moist brisket roll sandwich was always been my all time favorite lunch. The roll was soft and the meat was tender. Flavorful and awesome with the bbq sauce on the side (the bbq sauce does have a lil kick but I love it!). My sandwich did come with1 side and I had a potato salad. The potato salad did complement the sandwich savory sweet sandwich. The potato salad was chunky potato w/ bits of onion possibly and pickle/relish giving is a tart taste that cuts fatty part of the meat making it more balance. Not as busy that I thought it would be around 12:30pm. But maybe I missed the crowd at 12:00pm. Great place so check it out.

So, in a place as one-of-a-kind as Jon Jon's, you'd think you'd be in for a seriously delicious meal, right? You roll up, park your car (and stash your valuables), lock it up, and then the aroma of BBQ fills the air. You glance up and what do you see? A bunch of picnic tables draped in plastic checkerboard tablecloths set on a huge dirt patch next to a bustling Oakland Road. The signs are old-school, the vintage BBQ truck looks like it's seen better days, the wall honoring heroes is lovely, and you think, "This is definitely the right spot for some real BBQ." Sadly, I found Jon Jon's to be all style and not much substance. It was lunchtime, so I went for the pork ribs, with a side of beans and potato salad. The potato salad was decent, the beans were even better, the roll was just a roll, and then the ribs... Eh. Way more sauce than meat (which was overcooked and dry) and a rib that still had a lot of fat on it, hidden under, you guessed it, sauce. Look, everyone has their preferences, but when I order ribs, I don't want to taste 99% sauce. Especially when the sauce is just okay. What would me coming back to this place is the unique vibe and decor (or lack of it). The service is direct and no frills (which I prefer). It has that true BBQ restaurant feel... but the ribs, which were supposed to be the star of the show, were disappointing and dry (and the heavy sauce was just a poor attempt to mask how dry they were). My favorite part of any BBQ joint should never be the sides, and that's exactly what happened here. Maybe I showed up too late in the afternoon (1:30 PM), and perhaps a future visit for chicken, hot links, and brisket would change my mind about this place, but for now, I've been to several other BBQ joints in the South Bay that do a better job when it comes to what really matters: the meats. So, Jon Jno's, for my experience, a solid 3.

My husband ordered 1 of combo of 2 ribs and a big hot link with the 2 sides. I couldn't get a picture fast enough

The barbecue is delicious here. We ordered take out and were immediately waited in. You don't come here for the ambiance as it's tucked away in an industrial part of San Jose. The inside has 8 to 10 tables and a counter where you order. There are outside tables but be ready for big trucks driving by. Portions are definitely Hungry Man sized! Impressive. I am used to getting a nice serving of meat and sizable sides. In Jon Jons case it was the opposite in a good way! I got Saint Louis Ribs and the smoked chicken 2 big portions!!! The sides are a delicious house made potato salad with celery, pickles in a mustard/mayo base just like mom's! And bbq baked beans served with a Hawaiian bun. Definitely recommend the food!

An unforgettable barbecue sandwich experience? You'll find both here at South Winchester BBQ. I was in the mood for a good barbecue sandwich and found myself at South Winchester BBQ. The sun shone high, the breezes blew gently, and it was busy with lunch goers that day. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich with a side of coleslaw and got myself a glass of water. Then I went outside to the patio where families and friends ate their lunches while their dogs looked on. The patio was sheltered from the street and provided a quiet place for community to gather over good food and drink. It would be a wonderful spot to enjoy my meal. My name was called, and I went to get my sandwich. The first bite was excellent! Juicy meat slices accented with the robust, savory, light sweet notes of smoked California oak wood. Fresh buns buttered and lightly toasted on the flats. Brought together as a well-done sandwich, every bite was savory meat and spiced rub, sweet barbecue sauce, and light crunch of toasted bread. The coleslaw was finely chopped cabbage tossed in a creamy, mildly sweet dressing, with a dusting of cracked black peppercorn on top. A welcome refreshing side to my tri-tip sandwich, the coleslaw cleansed the palate and balanced out my rich meal. The tri-tip sandwich and coleslaw sure paired up to pack a delicious punch. South Winchester BBQ was a definite win in my books. Next time I want a good barbecue sandwich, I'll come back for more. I know I'll be in for a delightful time!

The location that we went to is located next to Maggiano's Little Italy in Santana Row on Olin Ave. There is a free 2 hour parking structure across of the restaurant where my boyfriend and I parked at. We came during their Lunch Specials (until 4pm) and Happy Hour (from 3-5:30pm) which worked perfectly as we wanted something smaller in portion compared to the dinner portions. We started off with drinks. I got their Pig Ol' Bitties Blonde Ale, and my boyfriend got their Friday Beer & Shot special of This Little Piggy Went to [Mark]et with a 16 oz Dirty Little Pig IPA and a shot of Benchmark whiskey. My fault for having him get a whiskey shot on an empty stomach, though HAHA. He did like how smooth the whiskey was at least! We shared a 2-meat BBQ Lunch Combo Plate, and honestly, we should have gotten 3 meats because of how tender and delicious everything was! We got their Tri Tip and Sliced Brisket with their Garlic Mash and server recommended Sweet Potato Tots. Ahhh, everything was so good! Aside from the tender, flavorful meats, the two sides, especially the garlic mash, were sooooo good. We both loved everything! It was definitely a great choice coming during lunch as we were quite full after ordering one of their happy hour shareables of Chips & Queso (kind of pricey even for happy hour in my opinion for chips and cheese). Honestly wished we got their Chili Cheese Fries or their other fries which were the same price than just chips and dip LOL. But it was a good hold over food with us drinking a bit (at least for me). Shoutout to the only server who was working on a late Friday afternoon as she was doing her best to accommodate everyone + trying to clean up the previous tables. It was kind of sad seeing that the other workers didn't help bus the tables in my opinion. Overall, a great place to watch sports and have some good whiskey as this restaurant is known for their whiskey selections! The lunch BBQ exceeded our expectations, and we would definitely come back for another lunch special meal but probably with 3 meats this time!

At many restaurants, that would be a problem. At Henry's, it becomes a reason to test the rest of the grill. We ordered the Porterhouse and the Sirloin, both medium rare. The Porterhouse was solid: balanced seasoning, clean grill flavor, no unnecessary tricks. A lot of restaurants can do a good Porterhouse because the cut already has drama -- bone, fat, tenderness, presentation. But Sirloin is different. Sirloin exposes the kitchen. Especially that strip of fat running along the edge. If the grill work is careless, that fat becomes chewy, greasy, or wasted. Henry's handled it beautifully. The meat stayed true medium rare, while the fat edge was properly rendered, lightly charred, and full of beef aroma. That is real steakhouse skill. Medium rare lean meat plus properly rendered sirloin fat is not automatic. It takes timing, fire control, and experience. The baked potato was simple and correct. The salad was classic old-school steakhouse style. Dark beer still feels like the right companion here. Henry's is not trying to become trendy. It is not chasing presentation. People come here to eat steak, drink beer, and trust the kitchen. Prime Rib is still the ritual. But this visit proved something important: Henry's is not only a Prime Rib place. They know beef. - Dr. C Fire controlled. Fat rendered. Medium rare verified.

I ordered ribs, brisket, chicken, potato salad, beans, Cole slaw, garden salad, and garlic bread. The favorite was the brisket but they truly loved every bit of it. Very impressed with the packaging and presentation. They were packing it up as I arrived and everything was hot and fresh. The staff were delightful and even helped load everything into my car. The portions were very generous and I felt a good value for the money. We were all very full and happy. Received many comments about how good it was. I will tell anyone looking to cater or serve a crowd to order BBQ Pit. I ordered using their website and it was incredibly easy to do, and appreciated the email confirmations and follow-up.

The loaf was actually slices and it tasted awful. It tasted like they grilled it together with the meat grease. I want my food to taste like it's supposed to be. Cornbread sb cornbread! I'm not a vegetarian, but if i was , i would not expect the taste of meat on my bread! It was dry and we tried to warm in air fryer the next day and still could not get over how bad it tasted. I suppose if you're eating other meat menu items it may not matter to you. For $18 (cost +tax+tip) I don't recommend.
