Mongolian BBQ
Jeanette K.

Gobi is one of the restaurants we come back to often, as it is one of the only Mongolian BBQ places in the area. We're always pleased with the selection of ingredients. The vegetables are always fresh and tasty. Although it is no longer all you can eat, I have seen people pack their 2 bowls and make giant portions still (if you're looking for a larger serving). They have suggested recipes for you to use at the sauces which taste well, but you make your own dish regardless! It's always casual inside and a nice place to eat. If we aren't here, we also like the Sunnyvale location and hope to try the Santa Cruz location sometime as well :)

Gobi is a great place to grab lunch when in the area (San Jose). I used to eat here often when I had a project nearby. The food is fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful. My reasons for not giving 5 stars are: -the quality has gone down, not sure why. There are less options for sauce to add to your bowl. I also remember the cook using sauce while heating your dish; not he just adds water to keep it from drying up. -Each table used to have a selection of hot sauce, soy sauce, etc. Now these condiments are found on a communal table. Besides that this is a good diner for me to get my Mongolian bbq fix. The cost is reasonable ($20 with a soft drink) and the food is fresh. It is conveniently located and the atmosphere is very casual. Check it out !

AUHHHJHH THIS FUELS MY SOUL WITH A BURNING SENSATION BEYOND ALL HUMAN DESIRE!!! I love this place, the food is way too good, and it is SO fresh. The service is wonderful, the staff is so so sweet, and the general feel of the place is worn in, but in the best way possible. 5 stars, I almost wanna die here and keep my ghost inside of the building and eat as much of it as possible.

My 2 bowls. I stacked em up high! Cook did a great job not hammering it. Was served hot hot hot

3.5 stars. This place is pretty awesome. Like that's it's not all you can eat so they charge less but still get basically all you can eat. Idk about you but 2 bowls is def enough and $16 on the weekday is insane if you eat in you also get white rice, soup and a soft serve treat on your way out. tbh the soft serve when we went wasn't all that (I think they water it down) so maybe be aware or we were there on a wrong day. Owner is nice typical Mongolian shop owner, hard working east's when she can around the dinking area but hustle when she knows you need something. Cool knows what he is doing. Doesn't hammer the veggies and is quick and cleans the grill after hot sauce used. Very nice. Place it kept in pretty good shape and always cleaned right after ppl go thru the line. Very nice will come back

I visited Gobi for lunch, but the grill attendant was extremely rude and unprofessional. To make matters worse, he even asked for a tip in front of me. I was thoroughly disappointed with the experience.

AYCE options have gone out the window and to be honest, all you can eat style wouldn't remotely interest me because the food is so terrible. @ $18 bucks an order, pre tax and tip, there are better food options as opposed to Gobi Mongolian Grill. I came here simply because my fave Mongolian noodle spot is currently closed due to renovations. The general concept is great, everything else is just not good. Customizations to your dish is completely up to you! Add more or less of whatever tickles your fancy and the employees will cook all of the ingredients on a large flat grill. My box of noodles came out looked extremely pale, flavorless, and absolutely unappetizing. I wouldn't make the same mistake of coming here again. Not worth the calories, the money, or your time.... PASSSSSSS!!

On entering, you get two medium sized bowls to fill with meat, veggies, noodles, and sauces. There are signs recommending which sauces to mix and in what quantities to get various flavors. It was hard to balance things once my bowls got pretty full, so I wish that we were given one bigger bowl instead of the 2 medium bowls but I guess that is for a reason. I also wish that the chefs added the sauces to your meal for you instead of spooning it into the bowl myself, I feel like I did not end up with the proper ratio of sauces. I appreciated the wide variety of vegetables and meats available for choosing, as well as the wonton chips that come with your meal! I got takeout but there was lots of seating inside and I believe you can get a refill for pretty cheap if you dine in. Service was great, and I got amazing bang for my buck here! Will be back.

A hidden gem! We used to commute to El Camino Mongolian BBQ but since it closed down we had to look for another Mongolian BBQ restaurant. Well this is it! This place is just as good. Staff is always friendly and the cooks are great! Always greet us with a smile. I like the fact that you can take your food home if you don't finish it! They also have. Soft serve ice cream machine!

Tried this restaurant for the first time. Dinner is $16.99. What is different here from other Mongolian places is they start you with 2 bowls! So you can do all your meats in one and veggies/noodles in the other. Or you can pike both exactly the same. I decided to do meats & veggies separate. That leads me to my mistake. When I got to the oils & sauces, I put them only on veggies, thinking- they get mixed anyway! Well, I forgot how much water they use to help the cooking process! So my food came out a bit bland. Next time I'll be sure to season both bowls! Another perk here is if you want more....one can get 1 additional bowl for $3! What a deal! I also liked the won ton chips and $1 soft serve ice cream cone.

I miss the days before covid. When this was all you can eat. It's still a great deal, but I can't help for long for better prices too. Been going to Gobi for around 5 years. My sons love being able to pick out what they want and making up their own sauces. I prefer different noodles so I'm just straight meat and veggies. If you eat there I believe you can get a second helping. Even for my teenagers boys 1 serving is enough. They like to fill up on the noodles. I hope people continue to go as we don't have enough of these options. I also miss Hồng Kông buffet in Fremont and don't want to see Gobi have the same fate. Glad Amazon doesn't have food options that do away with shops like these.

And more vegetables

My coworker and I went here for the first time. Basically, you walk in, grab two bowls and fill them with all the meats, vegetables, and noodles you can fit on them and put the sauces on top that will be cooked all together on this huge, round flat top grill. I didn't put enough sauces, but they do have separate condiments you can put on your food, like soy sauce, chili sauce, sesame seeds, seasoning salt, etc. Otherwise, the food was pretty good. They have won ton chips you can help yourself to that are at the beginning of the line. At the back wall is a huge rice cooker with steamed rice you can have with your meal if you want. They have a self-serve soda and water machine. This area is where you get your utensils and napkins. They also have self-serve vanilla ice cream cones, which is two for $1. When you're done eating, you can leave your plate, etc., on the table and it'll get bussed by an employee. You just tell the cashier what you ate and drank when you're ready to leave. We got there about 11:45 am, and there weren't a whole lot of people; but by the time we were almost done, the line was to the door. This when they had a second person help with cooking the food. The cook is such an expert, how he cooks the food and then slides the food from the flat top onto the plate. Another good place to check out, and they're quick. You can dine in or take to go.

This place is so good the people are kind the environment is great. They have ayce ice cream and soup. You can pack your 2 bowls as much as you can. Everytime I eat here my left overs are a whole second dinner.

There's plenty of parking and the restaurant itself has plenty of seating. Upon entering, staff was welcoming and friendly. They offered to explain the instructions on how to build the bowls for barbecuing. A table will be assigned ahead of time and set with water mugs and utensils. There is a large variety of ingredients to build your mongolian bbq bowl such as baby corn, mushrooms, onions, and more. In case of indecision, there are posted instructions for a sauce recipe in the sauce area. All items chosen end up on the grill at the end and returned back to you in a singular large bowl. If desired, there are extra seasoning add ons at the end. Free soft serve is included with the meal. Always great to have dessert at the end! I'll definitely be back. Lots of love to this location!

First off, the lunch price is at $21.99, and this includes two trips to the buffet although they allow a third trip in which they don't state because lots of people tend to go over what they want and don't finish. The restaurant is clean, and the owner's make sure they're wiping the buffet bar often. It looks as if the husband does the cooking while the wife goes around checking on tables and guests, etc. I would also like to thank Jenny, one of the employees, for being so nice and treating us like family. She gave us knowledge about the place and its history, etc. They have most of everything you'd typically want in a Mongolian buffet bar except I wish they had lamb as a lunch item as opposed to just dinner. The food is cooked fresh and hot! I love that they have additional condiments such as sesame oil, teriyaki sauce, and more to add into your bowl. I do think they should also include fried rice, soup, and other hot items as part of the experience to draw-in more customers. The old Mongolian BBQ spot in Santa Clara used to have all this and they were so popular and loved. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this place and will definitely come back again for lunch. It's so delicious and can't wait to come back.
