This was the large noodle plate

I was not too impressed with this place. For a moment it looked this was the new place for some Mongolian BBQ. I've passed by Mall food court many times and this place was always packed, so I knew that I needed to try this place one day. Well that day came, it was early in the morning so the lines were minimal. This place is unique from the other Mongolian BBQ places I've been to as they allow you to choose your bowl size of regular or large. I know a lot of the other places Ive been to for Mongolian BBQ usually gave out two bowls one for your meats and veggies and other for your noodles. I am no expert at stacking the meats and veggies into one bowl, I know some people are good at it to maximize the amount they put in. Also they are the ones who control the portion unit of the sauces and garlic you can put into your bowl. This was a new change because usually people have put in the sauces for themselves to maximize the flavors, here they gave about one to two scoops of whatever you asked for. But I also felt the sauce options were limited here. The last unique thing is the noodles. They put in the noodle amount for you depending on whether you get a large or regular the noodle portions are now regulated, so no more stacking of goanormous amount of noodles for those that love noodles. I try packing in more protein and veggies anyways, so I didn't mind it as much. But I felt with the portion control of the sauces I felt the taste was a little lacking but that's just me.

Had a great time eating here while shopping around valley fair! I grew up eating Great Khan's back at oakridge malls so this did bring up good memories. It was short line on Saturday during peak lunch hour. You have the options of a small or large bowl. I got the large bowl and you can fill it up as much meat and veggies as much as you can. There's chicken, beef, pork, and beef brisket with veggies from cilantros, jalapeños, carrots, and broccoli. Before you ring out, there's a staff member who'll ask what sauces you want and pour them in for you. From there, you wait and enjoy the smell and sizzle of the grill. Took about 5 minutes for my order to be complete and it was so delicious!

I've never been to this one before, but I have been to something similar at another shopping mall in Southern California multiple times and remembered I loved it because we would get a decent amount of food and the meal could very well be saved for a second meal later. You receive a bowl and a tray where you can choose what you want to fill it with. There are various kind of protein (chicken, pork, beef, tofu, etc.), veggies (beansprouts, green onions, mushrooms, onions, zucchini, jalapeños, etc.), sauces, and then the noodles at the end - its so fun to watch your food being cooked on the large circular top. There might be a line, but the wait is never excruciating, and the end result is always yum. There could have been cleaner areas in terms of fallen food or less sticky trays, but I tried to not let that bother me.

I grew up with mall Mongolian BBQ, so this brought back nostalgia and I also think it's delicious, so it's a win win You grab a bowl, fill it up as much as you can and then they add the noodles to the grill and your desired sauce. What I like about this place is that they add the noodles after you give them the bowl, previously at great khan's you had to be mindful of how much you can add to your bowl so that you would have room for the noodles The sauces could be better, but I like to add a bit of everything and it ends up tasting great anyways. If you want more umami, then add some soy sauce at the end. My trick is to try to flatten the frozen meat down to as much as I can with a napkin so that I have more room for other items. I try to flatten and get as much meat so that I can really fill that baby up LOL. Honestly I love Mongolian bbq and for some reason, specifically only eat the ones at the mall haha, it's a better option than Panda Express in my opinion

I remember going to a Mongolian BBQ place long ago in the east side San Jose - it was one of my favorite places to eat, and it was a treat watching the cooks do there thing around the flat top grill. Alas, they died down after a decade or so, and they all disappeared! I am happy to see one here at Valley Fair! The same process exists - you get a single bowl on a serving tray, then you decide the ingredients. First is the meats. There are four different meats from which to choose - pork, chicken, beef brisket and pork belly, any combination. From there the next stop is the veggie station, which has an abundance of offerings. The third station has more toppings, such as mushrooms, scallions, etc., as well as your sauces and oils. From this point, the cook takes your bowl and asks your preference of sauces and oils, and then proceeds to the flat grill to cook your selection of ingredients, as well as adding the thick, chewy noodles! In about another minute, the piping hot food is solid into a container, and you are ready to eat some delicious food! I really missed Mongolian BBQ, and I eagerly skipped it all down, as I strode down memory lane again. However, there are a couple of points that need to be mentioned here. For those with food allergies, I do not recommend eating here, as the flat grill is a shared tool, which means that even though one person chose ingredients that are non-allergenic, others before may have chosen allergens. Thus there may be some cross contamination of those allergens. Secondly, the amount of sauce that only the chef applies may be to your liking, not enough or too much. If you are salt sensitive, I suggest requesting less sauce. But other than that, this is a delicious and probably a healthy place to enjoy some nice, hot and tasty food here in the food court at Valley Fair!

Mong q is a great spot in the mall and I'm glad I tried it. There's lots of options for veggies and things to add in your bowl. They cook the noodles in front of you, and thoroughly cleaned the cooking surface before cooking my noodles since I'm a vegetarian which was nice. It takes about 5 minutes to cook your food. The noodles were perfectly cooked and everything I added to the bowl tasted amazing too. The baby corns were my favorite addition. The flavors of the sauce tasted great together and I'd definitely eat here again.

Food was delicious.. this was my first time and I felt a. It lost. So you get your tray, the bowl. You pick the meat, veggies then they add the sauces you'd like and finally they cook it all serve you and you're on your way.. I feel it was bit over priced. Service was good , it went quick. It's in a food court. Plenty of seating. I do recommend and I'll definitely be back..

Who remembers when there was a Mongolian BBQ spot at the food court in @westfieldvf ?? @mongq_valleyfair is bringing it back and better than ever! Now open for you to build your own bowl with your selection of meats and fresh ingredients. They even got Dubai Chocolate Strawberries for a nice sweet treat after. So happy and a great addition to the space! Service is also super friendly'!

There are two sizes of bowls to choose from to fill up. I chose the larger that came out to almost $20 after tax. Some meats were chicken, beef, and pork belly. It was a bit disappointing that they didn't have any lamb, imitation crab, or any kind of seafood. I filled up my bowl with meat and veggies. The worker added Mongolian sauce, chili oil, and garlic for me. The cook added the noodles. This is different from other Mongolian BBQ locations that let you pile up the noodles. This resulted in a smaller but acceptable portion. The flavor of everything was just ok. I wish they had siracha.

4 stars for it being mall food court cuisine, but personally wouldn't make a special trip for it. Takes the place of the vegan thai place that was in the 2nd floor main food court I like the concept- you order a regular or large bowl, and you add in whatever fits in your bowl, and they stir fry it in front of you. The meat is frozen and rolled up like at hot pot with chicken and beef options - they really do shrink up when stir fried, so get more than you think you need! Also plenty of vegetables and tofu to add in as well. You can then either get noodles or rice as your place. The noodles are stir fried with your bowl ingredients, but they just lop on your bowl on top of white rice. Not sure why not just stir fry the rice as well, which would be a bit better. 6 different sauces you can add on before stir frying- ie garlic, lemon juice, mongolian sauce. I only did the mongolian and the garlic and thought it was a bit spicy (I prefer zero spiciness...) while my husband did all 6 sauces and thought it was all too bland for him to ever want to go back. hahah there's also dubai chocolate strawberry thing for dessert. It does take a while of standing in line since they just stir fry a few at at time, and maybe because it's still pretty new.

The owner was friendly and the food was delicious. The owner told me a little bit of his back story and I truly appreciated it. The food was plentiful and could hardly fit in a To-go box

    Irene L.

Located on the second floor food court between Sarku and Koja. They offer two portion sizes, regular or large (with a $2 difference). You'll start by receiving a tray with an empty bowl, then head through the buffet line where you can pile on as much meat and veggies as you'd like. At the next station, a staff member will help you add toppings, sauces, and seasonings; just let them know how much or how little you want. After paying, your bowl is handed off to the final station, where your ingredients are cooked on a large, sizzling hot plate along with noodles. Also, it's nice that they clear off the sizzling plate by scraping it off between certain amount of meals so you don't get that burnt taste or bits in your meal. Service is quick and well-organized, especially impressive for a newer establishment. Definitely planning to return; it's a solid deal for a satisfying meal.

    Esmeralda R.

Great price for the amount you get and quick dining option for those who are shopping. Seating is limited because it's in the food court but overall we were not disappointed for the price we paid. Service was fast and staff were friendly.

Bagged noodles and over cooked veggies in the saltiest sauce youve ever had in your life.

They have also opened a location in Cupertino that is more convenient for me. Adding Mian to this plaza definitely livened it up, it was so difficult finding parking and then there was an hour wait when we joined the waitlist. We wandered around Grocery Outlet and Savers to pass the time. I came with a group of 6 people. We ordered the sichuan spicy fries and fried chicken cutlet to share. The fries were the spiciest item I had that day, wow! I ordered the Sichuan chicken cold noodles, extra spicy. They were not spicy at all. I left everyone at the table try them and they all agreed it was not spicy. Kind of disappointing, I expected them to be spicier than the fries at least. My partner had the chengdu zajiang noodles, mild spicy. They were good, the signature dish of the restaurant. I would return, but their spice levels are very inconsistent.

I get the jajangmyeon ($10.95 for a small) every time, mostly because the noodle texture is TOP TIER. There are also plenty of ingredients mixed into the sauce, although I find it a little salty sometimes. The tangsuyuk (sweet & sour pork, $15.95) is super crispy, and I really liked the tangy sauce with it. I personally prefer dipping the pieces in the sauce so they stay crispy, but you can also pour the sauce over if that's your preference! The noodles for both dishes have a pleasantly chewy bounce to them. They are thick, satisfying, and cooked perfectly right. The Jajangmyeon's black bean sauce was savory with a touch of sweetness and contains peas, onions, and pork. The Jjamppong has a spicy seafood broth with squid, mussels, pork, and veggies. Every meal comes with pickled yellow radish on the side to help cut through the richness of the meal. Service is not what you come here for. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated and a part of that was because they skipped our name on the waitlist. They claimed they called it, but we were standing less than 15 feet away from the front door and never heard a thing. The music the restaurant was playing outside didn't help. Once sat inside, it is a turn-and-burn operation. Food is ordered, dropped off, payment is collected, and nothing more. Again, don't go here for the service, go for the noodles. The atmosphere is casual and bit cramped. It has a cafeteria-like feel inside and can get a little noisy. Parking can be tricky especially when busy since they share a small parking lot with neighboring businesses. Bottomline, Paik's Noodle is good for a quick and solid bite but that's about it.
