Hovering owner, stay home! This past weekend we visited Su's for what was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner. We had 18 people, got accommodated, started our plates then here comes who I assume is the owner. "Have you been here before? Yes, we have." We finally get up to the counter where the two cooks take the food to cook and there he is. "You said you've been here before. You leave your bowls there then you need to move over." Not friendly whatsoever, just rude and as noted above, hovering. I put two bowls down on the counter and tell the cooks that it's two plates, not one, and they still cook them together and put them in one large bowl. I then have to grab an extra bowl on the side to separate the food that now has everything I had separate. As I'm doing that, hovering owner is walking up first off to tell me that I can't sit where I'm at. The tables they accommodated for our large party were full so my family of four sat right next to the party. Followed by, "You can't share food, we're going to have to charge you for two bowls." Yes, I have been there so I knew that which is how I responded. Then shared that my two bowls were asked to be cooked separately but they still ended up in one bowl. Also, how can you not know that rule, there are signs everywhere. We're finally finishing off and just sit down to eat our ice cream when we get approached again. "We're going to need your table soon. We're not asking you to leave but we have a large party coming in and will need your table to fit them." How is that not asking me to leave? I'm still eating, socializing with my family but I'll need to hurry it up so you can accommodate another large group for your big bucks. That's what Su's has become. A place where the customer service is condescending and the large groups take priority. Only not ours. So thank you Su's for the good times before it was taken over by hovering owner. We love this place! The service is outstanding. We always go here to celebrate someone's birthday or a special occasion. It's fun to pick your own items and have them cook everything for you. I love noodles but I try to stay away from them these days so I like that I can simply get a bowl of meat and a bowl of veggies to make a delicious, healthy stir fry. This last visit I used their sauce recipe hanging up on the wall and it worked perfectly. My dish was perfectly seasoned and tasty. It's probably not worth coming if you're only getting one go-through especially if you're not getting noodles like me because it's a bit pricey in that regard. But most of the people in our group went through for a second time and everyone had noodles so they got their money's worth. A group of friends and I stopped in on Saturday night and it was great! Most of us had never had Mongolian bbq before, but there were several friendly and helpful employees there to give us tips (add in way more meat than you think and really smash it down to make room for other add-ins, everything REALLY shrinks down). The restaurant is all-you-can-eat and you are allowed to go for two rounds, but I only ended up doing one because it was really filling! We were also there with some vegetarians who appreciated the tofu option. The staff there was EXCELLENT. They came over and checked on us several times. Randomly, they also have really great water, which one of the people working there told us is because they make sure to clean their ice machine. Since it was our first time, the recommended sauce list was very helpful but I would even add a half scoop less of the soy sauce because it's that potent. Outside of the soysauce the rest of the ingredients made for a tasty meal once cooked. The funny thing about trying to review Mongolian BBQ restaurants is that if you don't like the food, it's honestly on you. You pick every item that goes into your dish, down to the exact ratio of different liquids in the sauce so if you are unhappy with your final product, you only have yourself to blame. With that in mind, this review will focus less on the food and more on the other aspects that combine to form the overall dining experience. To begin, Su's Mongolian BBQ has all the charm of an industrial kitchen, which is to say not a lot. The sterile, undecorated interior pairs with the harsh fluorescent lights and imposing steel refrigerators to send a message that while you may be allowed here, you are not necessarily welcomed. The ingredient station where you build your bowl is incredibly small, so small that on first glance I thought I must be missing something. As a result, the diversity of ingredients is pretty limited but they do hit all the must-haves of Mongolian BBQ. It's not all you can eat, but rather all you can grab in two trips through the line. It doesn't make much of a difference though because if you are strategic about it you can fit quite a lot of food in one trip. You would probably be hard-pressed to find someone who could eat two full bowls that had been filled to the max. Most people will probably be satisfied with just a single trip through the line, but at that point you feel like you are leaving money on the table, and the $22 lunch suddenly feels like less of a deal. If you are a person whose stomach knows no bounds you are going to get your money's worth here but if you aren't, it's a little tougher to feel good about the price you are paying. In the end while the food was serviceable and I wouldn't resist coming here again, the lacking atmosphere and minimal selection will probably keep this from being my go-to spot for Mongolian BBQ. read more

When you walk in, you grab a tray and two bowls. You can fill each bowl however you like but I usually do one for noodles and one for toppings. They also have a rice cooker if you prefer rice over noodles. For protein, they offer shrimp, pork, lamb, beef, and chicken. Topping-wise, they've got the basics like carrots, onions, broccoli, pineapple, lettuce, mushrooms, etc. I do wish they had a wider variety of veggies tho. I've even suggested to the owner that baby corn or bell peppers (green, red, or both) would be great additions. Even with a somewhat limited topping selection, they really make up for it with their sauces and seasonings. You can truly customize the flavor of your plate however you want. One standout for me is the liquid sugar. It's just something I haven't seen at other Mongolian BBQ spots. It adds sweetness and depth of flavor and it honestly helps balance out the soy sauce (if you add soy sauce). Overall, it's a spot we keep coming back to, and for good reason. The basic sauce should be pre-made for beginners. The cooking was fast and the flavors were very good! 2 trips to the buffet are allowed which was plenty of food, leaving me very full. First timers it will be hard to choose what you want cooked considering the number of items and selections there are. Good thing about this place is they have a recommendation list if you are unsure of what to add. It does get busy during lunch time but overall time goes by fast in line. You have bowls in a tray and have the ability to stack it up with as much items as you want. Mind you, that the meat does shrink and there is an extra charge for shrimp. The man that welcomed us was the only good thing about our visit tonight. The food was okay, I could've gotten more food for a fraction of the $25.99 price for an adult, and to top it off the lady at the front cashier was so rude. She charged me $18.99 for my 3 year old that had a bowl of rice. But because there is "no sharing allowed," they charged him anyways. The actual building is old and needs to be updated and renovated. It's not all you can eat and the max per person is two bowls for the dinner price of $24.99. I realized yesterday if you want to take your leftovers home, they sneak in the 25.99 to-go price AND you pay an extra $1 for the to-go box. $2 jump to $27 per person is a lot considering there is no service provided, but having leftovers makes it a little worth it to take home. Our total after tax was about $60... pretty pricey for two people just getting serve yourself Mongolian food. Given how much you are paying, asking for the to-go box is another story. My partner and I had second bowl leftovers, small enough to easily fit in their small containers. Upon asking for a to go box, one of the owners came up to closely examine both bowls (multiple comments were made about how much food was left), asked us questions about which round it was, "jokingly" ask how we had room for ice cream (which is included in the price), and in the same breath offers a tip about how to eat less on the second round. To reiterate, both of our leftovers took up half the small to-go box each, so the entire interaction felt like I was (literally) being spoken down to. My first experience here was not like this, and nothing was done to warrant the conversation. To the business, remove the to-go service if seeing customers bring home food makes you upset. Having a conversation with thinly veiled negative comments will make a customers good dining experience go sour. read more

Been craving Mongolian bbq for a while now and finally visited su's for weekday lunch. Parking can be tight during peak hours but since we arrived an hour before closing of lunch hour, we found parking without issues. Restaurant got lots of seating and once pointed to our spot, we got seated immediately then went straight to the food station to prep our bowls. 2 bowls per trip and for $23, you're allowed 2 trips. Lamb is my choice of protein but it's only available during dinner. First trip 1 got 1 bowl of protein and 1 bowl of whatever else followed by sauce bar to dress up your bowls. Their soy sauce is very very salty so make sure to use less. The final stop is where the cooks grill your food on a large iron plate. They offer complementary white rice if want to add to your meal. Seated at our table and we feasted. Unfortunately my bowl was too salty so I immediately went back to make my second bowl. Same drill, 1 bowl of protein and 1 bowl of whatever else but this time less soy sauce dressing then cooked by the chefs. I mixed both of my bowls hoping it'll taste less salty but boy was I wrong. The salty items are already infused and cannot be saved. But it was still tasty so I killed both bowls. While seated, server often came around to refill water and they got very nice crisp water. Ending the meal with complementary soft serve ice cream and they charge 50 cents for ice cream cone so small bowls are available free of charge. 10/10 doesn't get any better than su's read more

My only qualm is that I had an upset stomach afterwards, which essentially never happens eating out, so i was confused. From the moment you enter you are greeted with a very welcoming smile and great conversation with Paul, the owner. He inquired if this was our first experience with his restaurant. We responded it was and if we've had Mongolian food prior. With that information in hand, he happily took time to provide us with tools to create & enjoy our meal. The choices of meats, noodles & vegetables were fresh. The sauces were perfect. He did provide us with a heads up on both the soy sauce and oyster sauce advising it was a bit on the saltier side so be cautious as you can add more later if it was not to your desired taste.
