I grew up coming here and boy was I excited to come back as it's been couple years and I was on this side of town. The quality has declined immensely. JC wasn't there like usual which makes sense. But I just spent $30+ for a plate of sadness. The garlic bread is so small now and missing the garlic flavor, the "bbq beans" had kidney beans?!!! Why? That was a bowl of chili. Did not smell pleasant. They even match the beans pictured on the menu. And the All-in-one staff that was working would not exchange it for the potato salad. So pick your poison. This place is a hidden gem in the San Jose/Saratoga area. The barbecue here is homemade and the shop has been open since 1979. The food was delicious and made to order over a cast-iron grill. I ordered a barbecue sandwich, hot link sandwich, and potato salad. All my orders were delicious, hot and fresh. The owner, Omar, was a very friendly and kind individual who made my order. He told me they have been around for 27 years. I've eaten here before and commented, "I returned because his barbecue was delicious." The restaurant is small and very old school in feeling. Omar told me that in the future, they will be enlarging his restaurant and that should be happening in the next year. I look forward to visiting this establishment again and wish him the best as he continues to make delicious barbecue. read more

I like to come at lunch time and get the "Lunch Special" with rib tips and chicken. I add on a bowl of beans. So good! I'm a fan of JCs. While it's a bit on the pricier side the BBQ is always delicious. St.Louis style ribs are really the way to go. Boiled in salt water until the meat is just the right texture then finished off over charcoal. The semi tender meat with a good bite vs 100% fall apart. BEWARE !!! First of all, I've been coming here for quite a while and they are hands-down, the best barbecue beef ribs in the area. But their service is TERRIBLE, half the time they are not there!!. Drove 30 minutes each way today to find a sticker on the door that says "closed today". This is not 1965, we have social media, or at least have the phone number go to a recording that says something like "sorry but we are closed today". It has just the perfect amount of spice. The meat is very tender and grilled to perfection and cooked to order. The food is fresh and served piping hot to perfection. The sides are also worth a shout out.. You can choose from potato salad, beans or green salad. I especially love the homemade salad dressing. The service is outstanding. The owner of the establishment is very nice and accommodating. The menu has lots of variety to choose from including a daily lunch special. You definitely get your moneys worth. Wow, I drive around this area all the time, ALL the time and I always looked and say I'm going to try it out one of these days and today was the day. For an early Sunday afternoon it's was dead no one in this fine establishment and I honestly don't Know why, but I'm guessing it's because I think they just started opening on Sunday. My husband was craving beef ribs and searched Yelp until he came up with this place. Well, it did not disappoint!!! He downed the better part of the 8 Rib Family Bucket on his own. I thought the garlic bread, beans and potato salad were all tasty (but the green salad is literally just iceberg lettuce haha, don't come to a BBQ joint for salad I guess!!) This place might be better for takeout in the summer, as it doesn't appear to have AC, though it is clean and pleasant. As a bonus, the BBQ chicken was really good too, but it is probably the beef ribs that will keep us coming back. Only one person was manning the kitchen but his service was prompt and friendly. omg! There's no words that can describe how shocking, and disappointing this restaurant is! This restaurant has been there for many years, but , it was my husband's and my 1st time, trying their food today 6/3/21. we ordered 2 " bbq pulled chicken ", sandwiches, 1 potato salad, 1 large "bbq beans". when we got the food , it was horrifying the chicken in the " bbq pulled chicken ", was not grilled, bbq!!! the chicken was cold out of the refrigerator , tasteless and boiled in water. The chicken was chopped up with bbq sauce squirted on top....gross!!! could not eat it.....oh ...no! It gets worst!! the bbq beans....was watery like soup and no flavor, no hints of bbq, the watery beans had very little seasoning, can't even taste what the seasoning is. yikes......bad bbq beans.... This is not what bbq beans should be!! We walked in expecting bbq chicken sandwiches, and bbq beans and this is the food they had served. The manager was helpful, understanding and gave a full refund...as we did not eat the food. I do not recommend this restaurant for anyone to try.....its very disappointing horrible, disgusting food. Several years ago I visited JC's barbecue on Saratoga here in Campbell. It was okay, but nothing really outstanding. I tried it a few times and decided I really didn't care too much for it overall. During the Covid situation many of my usual restaurants had closed or were not serving. So I decided to try JC's and the first thing I noticed it appeared to be under a different ownership. They had Korean chicken which I've never seen before on the menu. So I took a chance, tried it and quite honestly it is one of the best things I have tasted! The barbecue pork and beef and potato salad/beans are really outstanding. Now in general I am not a big fan of barbecue because the sauces seem to upset my delicate stomach but not at JC's. My wife, who in general hates barbecue really loves the chicken. Some of the negative reviews talk about they don't understand English or organization or whatever. I haven't found that to be true. Everything that I ask for they provide such as sauce on the side or whatever else I need. They are kind, appreciative and ALWAYS thank me. I had no idea that it was a new ownership until my friend told me so I asked them and was informed that they did take over the business about 2 years ago but did not change anything. They are intending to add other special things to the menu that other barbecue places don't have but due to Covid they're limiting themselves primarily to take out. They do have a nice tent setup with a few tables so if you'd like to eat outside you can. They have a fantastic selection of sodas that are in cans. I have been eating here at least once to twice a week and have enjoyed the food immensely. They appear to be fully Covid Compliant! I highly recommend JC's. read more

Absolutely LOVE And CRAVE their BBQ chicken sandwich . Instead of regular French bread I pay extra for them to use garlic bread for my sandwich. The onions are raw but as long as they don't put too much I enjoy it. I always ask for extra BBQ sauce on the side & potato salad. They only have soda & Snapple so I just buy a water bottle . The cynical side of me say that thIs restaurant posts low prices of their menu/food online to lure customers into their restaurant.. The other half of me think that maybe the owner so just too lazy or cheap to update their website to reflect their current prices when you get to the restaurant and look at the menu.. We are actually talking about a $10.00+ difference in price from their website to their current pricing at the restaurant.. As for the food. It was definitely not bad but, definitely was just ok.. I wouldn't recommend anyone not going here to try it out just once to judge for yourself if you like it.. Just buyer be where.. Prices are much higher then the website states.. read more

Been eating here since the 90s. It's the sauce. The bbq chicken or rib sandwiches have never missed. And the potato salad is bomb. I've always thought it pricey, but always turns out to be worth it. We started coming here again sometime ago but since they changed owners it seems like things are going downhill a bit. The last two times I got a rib meal the ribs are tiny! I thought maybe the last time was a fluke but tonight's meal shows me it was not.The ribbon holding in the picture is about as wide as my pinky. And this meal cost me $20! Totally not worth it. I don't think we'll be back. ETA-I called and spoke to the gentleman there, he was very apologetic and friendly. This place is a classic but has maintained there standards for decades. They're the only place that make serious beef ribs and they are the best in the world at it. I kid you not. They are the beef ribs king imo. I don't even order the pork. I just love their beers that much. At first the bbq tasted kinda plain to me but after trying then without thở bbq sauce or I've tried other premium bbq sauces you understand. They made the perfect sauce for their ribs and there is no substitute for their sauce on their ribs. The marriage of the two is perfection and addicting. Shroud have known they've been around more than three decades that I've know about and have been eating there that long. Also his garlic toast is crazy. The potato salad is the best potato salad in the world and I've eaten a lot of potato salads from all over. Such a gem in a totally nondescript location you can totally miss it driving along Saratoga ave. But for those of us that got lucky and found it years ago. They are the kings of what the make. From beef to pork ribs, grilled chicken and even sausages that bbq sauce is perfect on all of it. In fact I just finished a bucket of 8 beef ribs. And I'm seriously thinking of dropping for another bucket. Always to good to have some in the fridge for a snack heck ribs two days in a row is ok in my book. read more

Came here with friends with a recommendation that is was the best BBQ place you can go to. I have to almost agree with her. Although I cannot knock my moms own homemade bbq, this comes as a close second. This small restaurant is Korean owned. Very hole in the wall restaurant with friendly and quick service. The bbq????? Well lets just say so good it didnt last long on my plate. They have great specials too so it is very affordable! My pictures look plain because they do not specialize in making your plate look beautiful, but put their hearts into your food. Our menu (btw, we all got the same things hence only two pictures).... BBQ ribs with Hot Links: fall of the bone, tender, sauce was so good! BBQ ribs with chicken: same but add juicy to the chicken! This place is okay like the hot links were edible. But bbq? Well obviously you can tell they don't smoke their foods. I swear I saw them take pre made food out of fridge then seared over grill. They don't even smoke it fresh like where's the bbq love? Aside all that, the quality sucked like it's just not honest bbq. This has been my BBQ "go to" place since the late 80's and there's really good reason. I usually order the same thing (pork ribs & link lunch special) and I haven't been disappointed in 30+ years! The the BBQ beans are amazing and even the green salad, which is really nothing more than incredibly fresh lettuce with amazing 1000 Island dressing, with a hint of garlic, is so much better than it sounds. As for ambiance, there isn't any. But the same cook has been parboiling & grilling the meat forever and, in addition to being a good grill master, he's a sweetheart! I used to love this place but today's order was not great. First, I ordered 3 buckets of the beef ribs. Within minutes, the restaurant called and informed me they were short on beef ribs so we both agreed that he would substitute with more chicken, which was fine. However, the ribs we did get were tough and hard to eat. Used to be the meat just fell off the bone and were very tender. I'm not sure if it was because we got the last of their ribs and if I had waited another hour, we would have received fresh ones. In addition, I wish I had been more clear. He gave me lots of chicken to make up for the portion of the ribs order he couldn't fulfill. Only we had so much chicken left over, that I couldn't have given it away. Chicken was better and tastier than the ribs, but there was no possible way I would have been able to pass that many out to our guests. I would have preferred a reduction on the tab.
