Healthy portions on the 67 Beef Broccoli Combo 芥蓝牛肉套餐
    Denise D.

I'm really late to review this spot. What do I love about it: consistently tasty food, cheap combo meals, and fast pick up times. Occasionally the portions really differ in service. Sometimes you're loaded up, others it feels like a small meal prep portion of food. But with some combos as low as $11.xx per meal, it's really tough to complain about real food, decent portions, and quick grab and go bites. I've personally never eaten inside the restaurant, but I generally order the lamb combo meal, sesame balls, and the country pork is pretty tasty. I highly suggest any of the monthly specials, and the skillets give you a ton of variety and huge portions EVERY time without fail.

Egg yolk chicken wing 4/5 - crispy and good flavor. They were pretty small wings though Fried fish filet 2/5 - these were awful! I don't even think there was any fish in it. All batter and no meat. So disappointing. It tastes old too like they fried it twice. Beef rolls 3/5 - not my favorite beef rolls Overall it's good value and decent Chinese food but not the best

I love Home Eat! This is my second visit (first visit was to the Santa Clara location), and it hit just as hard this time around. I stopped by on a Sunday evening, and the restaurant was absolutely packed. The entrance had an adorable CNY display. Even though there were a ton of customers, there was still available seating. The interior is no-frills, with minimal decor. I was impressed by how fast the service was: I ordered, went to the bathroom, and the food was already being served when I returned. The food is consistently delicious, with good portion sizes. Home Eat has a monthly special section, where certain dishes have a discount. The monthly special section is such a great deal: you get a huge portion for an affordable price. I highly recommend the chicken wings. They have several different sauces/flavors. The wings are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chow mein is a classic, with plenty of toppings (chicken and veggies). I tried the special lamb mini hot pot this time around, and it was honestly a skip. The lamb had a strange taste, and most of the ingredients weren't outstanding/worth the price. I'll definitely be visiting again for a quick, delicious, affordable meal!

Came here with a few friends and I really enjoyed it! Food: Every dish was a 5 star for me! I liked the honey walnut shrimp in particular. It had a nice crunch. Parking: We came on a weekday so parking was super easy. It's the same plaza as chicha san chen but it's on the other end. Service: They were super nice and quick.

The food was pretty good, they have a sauce bar with individually wrapped packets to use. Portions were decent size, definitely enough for some leftovers! The general tsos chicken was very crispy and saucy, definitely recommend the dish! However, the fried crab was pretty underwhelming unfortunately, it was small, had little crab meat inside, and we asked for a nut cracker for the shell, but they did not have one. I'd avoid this dish as it's pricey for what you get. Overall, it's a nice spot that serves hotpot + traditional Chinese dishes, worth checking out if you're in the area!

*Review on chicken wings* I've had Home Eat's chow mein previously, but what made me really like this place is the chicken wings!! I did not try the beef wrap, but my partner thought it was good and reasonable pricing. The dish is meat forward and there was alot of beef in the roll. I got the classic wings in soy sauce marinade. The wings were so crispy, flavorful, just like korean fried chicken. In fact, these wings are better than some of the chicken places in the area. I wish the wings were bigger, but you can just order more. It's $13 and I found it to be a great price. Home Eat's chicken wings are popular for a reason and they have several dishes that seem appetizing. I saw many in the restaurant try their soups, seemed interesting. I will definitely come back for the wings and try other dishes.

Great spot for quick lunch or dinner. Solid food and clean. These chicken wings are the closest thing to san Tung ( but these have nice slices of garlic and chili and less sauce) so so good. Also got this lamb hot pot with a bowl of rice included

Home Eat is always a safe go-to spot for a quick and delicious meal! I don't think they have a "wow" factor to their dishes but I've never had a miss here as everything I've tried have been pretty decent, especially considering the price. Came on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and there was no wait. Tried some new things today: - Salt and pepper fried fish fillet - just okay. I thought the fish fillets would be bigger but there were a few pieces of just the batter. Batter is decent, dish came out crispy. The salt and pepper taste wasn't very strong and there weren't a lot of pieces of onions and peppers on the dish as I'd see other places would have. I love the HK-style salt and pepper taste the most and this fell short. - Yunnan rice noodle with seafood - this was alright but not as good as other yunnan rice noodles I've had. Plenty of shrimp pieces, quail eggs, and super tender chicken which I appreciated. The noodles weren't the smoothest compared to other yunnan noodle places. Broth was ok. - Mapo Tofu - not too spicy, thick, and tingly/numbing as you'd expect. Pretty good.

I came here at lunch with my friends, and here is experience: 1. Ambience (4/5): cozy, clean and had a lot of seats. 2. Service: we ordered by ourself by a QR code menu on the table. Staffs were friendly and attentive. 3. We ordered some dishes: - Boneless fried chicken with sweet sauce (5/5): I loved this one, very tasty and yummy. Chicken was perfectly coated with sauces. - Fried rice (5/5): flavorful, but the scramble egg was a little bit salty for me. But it went well with rice and veggies. - Hot pot: I don't remember the name of this one. But I didn't like the way they seasoned the broth, I skipped this one:(. Anyways, my Chinese friend liked this soup. - Rice plate (4/5): tasty but the pork was a little bit oily. I love their broccoli:). Overall, I had a nice experience here. Next time, I would try some new soup until I find out my favorite one:).

Came back for a second visit, and Home Eat did not disappoint! The flavors are consistently bold and authentic. * Prime Spicy Angus Beef Shank Pot (#9): We got the small size, and it was the perfect centerpiece. The beef shank was incredibly tender and soaked up all the rich, spicy broth. A must-try if you like hearty, slow-cooked flavors. * Hunan Stir-fried Beef (#55): This has quickly become our "standard order." It's just as good as the first time--super tender beef with that addictive Hunan chili kick. It's the ultimate rice killer. * Pork Tripe with Chili Oil (#213): A fantastic cold appetizer. The tripe had a great snappy texture, and the chili oil was fragrant without being overwhelmingly numbing. Still one of my top spots for authentic Hunan cuisine in the area. The consistency is impressive!

Home eat is the pinnacle of Chinese excellence X chaotic efficiency. Clearance foods after dark?! Food coming out at BLAZING fast speed?? lol and not to forget the incentivized free drink if you post a review at the table (did not participate btw). Now onto the real matter... the food. Classic wings blew my mind. Genuinely, wing stop could never. These wings are much more refined- none of that thick coating of batter. It's a thin CRISPY, sweet, sticky, and savory wing. Flats ONLY! Spicy beef soup- wonderful! I asked for mild spice and it was perfect. I noticed a nearby table only ordered these hot bowls of noodle soup (it's gotta be THAT good if that's all they came here for) The beef was tender and broth had rich flavor. Express cold bar! If you order online you only get one dish. Order at the bar, and you have the option to do half and half! Prices get marked down after 9pm. I ordered the cucumber salad and pig intestines. both yummy but nothing incredible 8/10

Was finally able to come back to take the owner up on his offer of the complimentary Mao xue wang after the previous incident. Also ordered the fashion wok on monthly special. Waiter Lean was very nice and hard working, seen him here many times. He understood the situation and commented that he reads the reviews every night after work and recalls reading about my incident. Great to hear that they read and reflect upon customer experiences. The Mao xue wang was a decent sized bowl with a lot of ingredients but the taste was not entirely there. Was a bit bland even though the appearance looked spicy and red.

Surprisingly, the normal Dan Dan noodles ("special sesame dry noodle") were quite bad. The beef and tendon noodle soup is not bad, decent for when I was sick. There is a "beef and tendon noodle soup" as well as a "beef only noodle soup" on the menu - you might think the beef only one would be better value and have more meat, I ordered both to see the difference - even though the meat only one does have more meat, the meat is more tough and very hard to chew. After placing our order, the food came out relatively quick. We ordered 2 beef noodle soups, the works, and 2 beef rolls. Starting off with the beef rolls, these came out cold. I heard that this is what this place was known for. The meat in our rolls wasn't even lukewarm and the pancakes came out super soggy almost like they didn't even try. Please tell me how the pancake look brown and crispy on the outside and still comes out cold and not crispy at all. My nephew even said they weren't crispy and he's 3. The lady told us that the sauce on the inside was salty and that's why they don't give extra and man was she right. 1/5* The beef noodles soup itself flavor wise was good and portion wise it was good for $21, but my noodles had no chew to them at all. I was attempting to pick them up with chopsticks and they would just break into pieces. They do give a decent amount of beef though in this. 2.5/5* for the flavor but don't expect much from the noodles. Same thing went for the works, it was a peanut buttery sauce that the lady claimed wasn't spicy, but my parents noticed that it had a kick to it even though they asked for it not to be spicy. The egg is a nice touch but not too sure if it's worth the price. Noodle consistency was the same as the beef noodle soup. 2.5/5*

It is a bit of a dumpy place right next to a gas station, across from an empty strip mall shop area! We weren't even sure the restaurant was open when we got here. We were asked to pick any table - mostly booths. There's a QR code to scan and place your order. After peruse quite an array of items we picked the ma po tofu and the beef with onions. Service was minimal- we weren't even sure presented with 2 cups and a carafe of water to start. Our order arrived and we got a complimentary seaweed miso soup. Soup was quite good with real seaweed - not the dehydrated stuff in some Japanese restaurants. Surprisingly the food was delicious! The ma po tofu was very authentic. There's schezwan peppers or Mala in it but it was not overpowering that it numbs your tastebuds! The tofu was soft and silky. The beef had good flavor and balanced the meal out. Beef was tender. Overall we enjoyed our meal. Will definitely come back to try other dishes on the menu If you're not familiar with traditional Chinese entrees the menu can be quite daunting and a turn off. They definitely utilize all animal parts!

However I can honestly say this restaurant is just as good as the best Hunan/Sichuan food from the San Gabriel area. This used to be a different Sichuan dry pot restaurant that was so so and I really haven't gone back since the new one opened up. The name is also really misleading because many Taiwanese restaurant use Grandma as the name. As a foodie this restaurant is legit. It's in a small plaza shared with another Taiwanese restaurant so parking can be difficult but there are plenty of street parking right next to the restaurant. The interior is clean and well organized. The service is prompt and good enough. They ask for reviews but didn't promise some freebie for a semi fake 5 star review which is great. I never leave a good review just for a freebie because my integrity is way more expensive than freebies. The food is phenomenal and authentic in every way. The frogs are tender and the spices are not overwhelming and brings out the flavor of the frog meat just right. The cured pork (pig face meat) is very rare in the states. It's also cured properly to give the authentic hunan flavor. They also mix it with raddish slices which is also rare in most Chinese restaurants here in the states. Even the conch with bamboo shots surprised me in how thin the slices of the conches are. It's also flavored without being too spicy nor too salty. Everything is on point. I do wish they used better white rice but that alone is not enough for me to take off any stars. This is just a wonderful restaurant that's on par with my favorite hunan restaurant in San Gabriel and I'm so glad I found it because I'm sure going to go back every week now.
