When it's cold outside and you are craving for comforting soup, Wei fish is our go to restaurant. The service is quick no hustle, our go to is Lao Tan suan cai, not so spicy just enough. Love WeiFish!!!
If you like to eat fish and soup and have a palate than leans sour, you must try sauerkraut soup or suan cai yu! I'm glad this chain has made its way to the South Bay. No need to drive far anymore yay! They have lots of soups to choose from. We went with the Laotan sauerkraut fish soup with snakehead. I recommend getting this soup if it is your first time. The large was a perfect amount for two. The soup was strong, flavorful, and wasn't spicy though there were peppercorns. The pickled mustard greens were sooo sour -- just how I like it! The fish was cooked well, but it wasn't deboned or clean all the way so I had to spit out a piece of fish during the meal. The soup also came with rice. Service was good and the restaurant was relatively clean and spacious. Good portions for a good price!
We went at 6pm on Friday and it was already packed and small wait. Food portion is great for price. Food was tasty and flavorful!
Been craving this for a while and it did not disappoint. Got the signature suancai, which was perfectly balanced with savory, spicy, and tangy flavors. The fish was super soft, and the portion was enough for two people. Came in on a Saturday night and it was pretty packed, but there was no wait. Would come again if I'm in the area. Service was a bit slow, but we weren't in a rush, so it wasn't a big deal. Food: 10/10 Service: 6/10 Ambience: 8/10
Finally writing a review for Weis after I've had it 6 times lol. I highly recommend coming to Wei's to try szechuan pickled mustard or sauerkraut fish! The space is very modern with plenty seating on both sides of the restaurant. You order through a qr code, food comes out pretty quickly and they offer free rice refills! I've gotten the Golden pot sauerkraut basa fish and the Tom Yum basa fish each time I've gone. I got the smaller size for one each time and I'll say you can share this between two people if you wanted to because I always end up with leftovers. The flavor is very strong, a good balance of sweet and sour, not TOO spicy which I love. I will say the quality can vary. I went during peak dinner time and they forgot to add in the bean sprouts but I wasn't too bothered. I went another time an hr before closing and it seemed like they loaded up my bowl with a lot of fish. The taste stays pretty consistent throughout, so no complaints there. Since you order from a qr code there isn't much service except for refills for water and rice but they're still attentive. I'd highly recommend! I think $17-$20 is a good bang for your buck since you can leave with leftovers :)
Got the combo meal that includes a side, entree and drink. Everything was really delicious! For the drunk, we go the lurched rose and it was really strong and refreshing. We got the original sauerkraut fish soup with the fried pork and it was good. The portions of the noodle soup may look big, but it is just the bowl that makes it look big when the serving is just enough. Decor for this place was really clean and fresh though. Service was quick and everything came out in a reasonable time
Wei's fish is a popular Taiwanese soup place. They mainly specialize in spicy Taiwanese soups with fish as a meat side. There was a longer wait during lunch on a weekday. There also isn't a large waiting area inside the restaurant. The parking lot was completely full since they were so busy. Each soup allows you to order 3 sides with it. Each dish also comes with unlimited refills of rice. The bowls are actually pretty shallow despite the pictures. The size portions of the food were good for the price though. A regular sized portion is provably enough for 2 people. The tomato fish soup tasted watered down despite the color and amount of ingredients. The soup taste itself was not very strong at all. The ingredients held their own taste in the soup. Ironically, the soup was better the next day after microwaving it. Overall a good place to eat plainer tasting Taiwanese food if that's what you are looking for.
Starting out wei fish only had a few selections I could eat because the rest of the options are spicy - tomato and the sauerkraut (mild). Honestly both those flavors are already so good that I would've been content and keep coming back. Now they added the scallion oil and coconut curry! All flavors are impressively delicious. Its a flavorful, filling yet not a heavy meal (because it's fish), perfect for a cold day. I have a hard time selecting which one I want! Highly recommend sides as celtuce (its a crunchy vegetable, almost like celery) and sweet potato noodles. The service is always quick and friendly. Restaurant is well lit and clean.
I've been driving by Wei's Fish quite often and thought it was a little bit dead inside. The restaurant doesn't have any windows that faced the street and the parking lot looked a little empty. That's definitely deceiving as the restaurant was packed and full of not only diners but people doing takeout. And I see why. This is one delicious place to eat and it's surprisingly reasonable. Almost wanted to keep this because it was already fairly busy, but here's my review anyway. We ordered one large and two small and a sautéed chicken dish for four people. It was a lot of food, although not as much as I thought when initially came out. The dishes, wow wide were quite shallow so there is not as much food as you think but it's still a substantial amount. We could've gotten just one large fish stew and a small fish stew and probably had enough for four people, but it's fun to try more. Whatever you get as add-ins, make sure to get the glass noodles as they are extremely tasty. We got a large sauerkraut fish stew, which was delicious. Slightly sour a little bit spicy and lots of flavor. The tomato broth was sweet and tasty as well. My favorite was the Tom Kha broth - a riff on a tight style broth with the fish. It's new and I'm actually eating the leftovers now (the next day) as I write this. The sautéed chicken was good but a little too bony for me. I'm pretty lazy about my food and the chicken bones were a little bit difficult to pick out. Also, the large green peppers were jalapeños not green peppers so were tasty but surprising. Really enjoyed my meal here and given how much food you get it's pretty reasonable. If I hadn't dramatically over ordered, probably could've gotten out of there for less than $15 a person. Will definitely be back!

My cousin got their signature suancai & snakehead (small) and I got the green Sichuan pepper soup. Most dishes come with 1 rice included and a choice of 2 sides (except their signature dish). Both dishes were super flavorful! We agreed neither of us had tasted anything like it before. The Sichuan peppercorn was super numbing - I think I'd prefer a less peppery dish next time, but it was still delicious. I had enough for leftovers, and we shared the brown sugar rice cakes, which were so good. For 2 people for two small mains and a dessert, the total was 57.06$ including tip. Service was fast and friendly! Definitely looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu.
Huge portions for very good prices, fast and friendly service, and good amount of seating options. Frequently busy unless you come at off hours. Also, unlimited rice, so you will not leave hungry!! FOOD: Green Sichuan Pepper Sauerkraut Fish (8/10) - Thought this was amazing and not too oily. Great amount of fish, glass noodles, celtuce, and tofu inside. I'd recommend trying this is this is your first time visiting!
Wei's fish is my go-to chinese comfort food when I want some soup! They have many soups to choose from but I would recommend the Old Pot Sauekraut one as that is my favorite! I usually add the sweet potato glass noodles, tofu, wood ear mushroom, and the yuba. Last time I got the Green Sichuan Pepper and that was too much mala flavor for me and I had a difficult time eating it to be honest. If you like the mala flavor than this would be the soup you should get! 4/5
I am not a fish person, so I was hesitant at first when my friends wanted to try this place. I love Szechuan flavors so I was more open to try this place. I also ordered the squid which was nicely seasoned with a very good five season slice with a nice chili powder touch so good. I ended up ordered the beef tender mix which is a no soup based mix with befd and veggies and mala spice mix. I decided to mooch off my friends for their fish to give it a try and the snakehead fish was actually not too bad, very fatty. (If you don't like fatty meat or protein then snake head may not be the best fish for you) But my friends got the green pepper and golden soup for theirs. The soup base the first taste is good it's rich and nice both after a few more sips it gets super salty. My dish however was not salty after multiple bites which is good, but I did wish there was more beef pieces in there. Definitely on the smaller portion size for beef. read more
3.5 Stars This is a authentic spot serving large, heart stews of tasty Szechuan style protein + veggies + spice - family style! We tried the spicy fatty beef slices ($19.95) and the the Signature Hot Oil Sauerkraut fish ($19.99). They gave us 3 bowls of rice. Don't chew the peppercorns if you don't want your mouth all numb! Get your tummies ready as if yours is not strong it may feel a little funny from all the spice :) Service is minimal - you order on your phone and they bring food out to you. saturday lunch for 3 adults and a child...arriving little past 1pm and finding busy, but sprinkling of tables available...browsing menu and deciding on laotan sauerkraut fish soup (large) $26.99...rice $1.99...for the child, ordering sausage $3.49 and buns with condensed milk dip $7.99...service was quick and food started coming out shortly after...sausage was gobbled up quickly...the sweet buns were good...some preferred to dip and others didn't...laotan sauerkraut fish soup was big and delicious...loaded with fish, lotus root slices, vegetables and more...broth was tangy, spicy and robust...so good with the rice...definitely will be back... read more
We grabbed dinner on a busy Wednesday evening. Luckily, we were a small party and were seated immediately. It was my first time, but I knew that I had to order something more mild, so I settled for the tomato flavored fish soup. I liked how we can customize the soup with two additional side add-ons. I got the yuba (tofu bean curd skin) and regular tofu. The soup came out steaming hot and fresh. The broth was rich and flavorful, especially for a tomato-based soup. The fish was fresh and everything was really TASTY. I got the small soup, and even I had trouble finishing it all. It makes for a great take-home meal! I would come back again. read more

Am SO HAPPY we FINALLY got to try this place! I've been nervous about it thinking all the dishes would be too spicy but friends convinced us that you can taper down the spiciness and between four of us - we got two small bowls of fish which was the PERFECT amount... We ordered their original Old Pot Sauerkraut Fish stew with snakehead fish - and I'm glad we got the snakehead. Never had that fish before but it was tender and held up to the soup. Was not too spicy and had the most delicious flavors!! The second one we got was their tom yum fish stew which we asked for mild - again with snakehead! LOVED IT. Not too spicy but just enough of a heat that my head sweated a bit! LOL... I love you can add a few things that come with the pot and then you can add additional things. I definitely want to come back to try some of their other fish stews and now I know why they're so popular. read more
It was my first time here and I really enjoyed it! This comfort food really hit the spot! There were many soup options to choose from, and luckily I went with a big group so I could try multiple broths. I ended up with a small Scallion Sauerkraut Fish Soup. Each soup option comes with complimentary side dishes that go in your dish. If you get a small, you get two. If you get a large, you get 4. The options are fresh yuba, enoki mushroom, baby cabbage, tofu, sliced celtuce, black fungus, sweet potato glass noodles, and lotus root slices. Personally, I like cabbage and soft tofu. It was perfect for my soup. The portions are huge, so that I had enough leftovers for the next day. I think getting a large for two people would be perfect, especially since they offer free refills on rice. I only had one bowl of rice and I was stuffed. Other broths that I tried and liked: Duck Blood in Chili Sauce -- very spicy but it was so flavorful. Love the weird meats that came with it. Tomato Flavor Fish -- very tomato-y. I did enjoy it, but still prefer the Scallion over it. For the size and the pricing, I think it's such an affordable comfort meal. I can't wait to come back and try other flavors (or just stick with what I like). Parking is easy, as they have their own lot. read more
Saw a tiktok that there was a spot in San Mateo and they opened one in Santa Clara! Was really excited to try this and came on a saturday night. Only waited 10 mins for a table for two. The menu was a little hard to read but the waitress was kind enough to explain it to us and order for us. You usually have to order on the phone with the QR code on the table. The place was clean and big, feels like a chinese restaurant. The food came out pretty fast and packed with flavor! Each pot also come with 1 bowl of rice which is nice. I will say that the portion of the pots are deceiving as the bowls isn't really that big. Two regular bowls was just enough for two people with not much leftovers. Overall, I will be back! First time trying this spot after my friends recommended and had a pretty good dining experience here. It's located in a plaza with plenty of parking so its very accessible. We ended up going 20min before they close and they gave us about 5min to order before their last order time. The staff were efficient but since it was close to closing time I think they weren't super attentive and asked my group of 4 people to share a table with another group despite there having other open tables. The store was pretty clean with very simple setup. There were a handful of fish stew options and I ended up getting the Old Pot Sauerkraut Fish Soup. I got the small size and it was already plenty of food. I also got the regular fish instead of the snakehead fish and enjoyed that. The snakehead fish is softer but I didn't feel there was a drastic enough difference and was happy with the regular fish. I really enjoyed the fact that you can get complimentary sides for the stews and ended up choosing yuba and lotus. I go to try my friend's sweet potato glass noodle and also really enjoyed that. Overall I really enjoyed the dishes and would want to try other fish stews next time! read more

We ordered to-go, but I definitely will be wanting to try and dine in at this place. I honestly was not sure what I was getting myself into to - I tried this place because I was my brother, who has experience in this type of dish. For beginners like me, definitely select the Basa Fish! (Although I am curious if the snakehead option is literally a snakehead). I am not huge on spicy flavors, so I was a fan of the Royal Tomato Fish flavor! We initially wanted to try the new Scallion Sauerkraut Fish Soup, but alas it was sold out. Will definitely be trying that next! Service was great, they were very friendly and the English was pretty fluent. The to-go container and the package is in is also top notch! Delicious, healthy comfort food! Amazing prices, I had the small old pot sauerkraut fish soup ($17) which came with white rice was enough to split with another person. You can also choose two additional toppings for the soup, included. We did cabbage and celtuce and I especially enjoyed the latter. Food came out pretty quickly and the fried chicken the tables near us were ordering also smelled really good. Restaurant theme is really fun, lots of orange and cartoon fish decor everywhere :) Most definitely will be back read more
Driving up to the restaurant at 2:30 on a Sunday afternoon, I remember thinking... "are they open?!" The windows are covered by ads which makes it difficult to see inside. I have worked near this location for years but never been inside, I had no idea what I have been missing. The inside is clean and orderly, there are a collection of rice makers in the customer area where you can help yourself to more rice. You sit down to order dine in, we were helped quickly by friendly staff. We ordered the large Laotan Sauerkraut Fish with a couple of vegetables. The dish came with two bowls of rice. The taste was amazing, so flavorful. This was their milder dish but it was spicy enough for me. Watch out for the spicy bits when you get to the bottom of the dish! I've seen this restaurant pop up on my uber eats feed so I decided to try in dining. These are fish stews with 2 fish options: basa or snakehead. Both are thinly sliced and delicious with many soup broth and variations of veggies, We ordered 2 dishes that were 2 pepper signs and they were not too spicy at all. We all ordered 1 non spicy soup. We ordered one pot snakehead and a green peppercorn with snakehead. Both were delicious but I think I lean towards the green peppercorn soup. You can pick sides that are included in the soups. I particularly liked the sweet potato noodle -- nice and chewy. Overall a great place to have fish and so healthy too! You order the food over the QR code and the dishes were ready very promptly. read more

This is the spicy that I really like. My preference is not the sour cabbage. They used to have one that didn't include it with the fish but no longer have it anymore. The fish is nice and soft, the food comes out hot and spicy. You get all you can eat rice while you're there to tame the spice if your stomach is a little more sensitive. Overall the servers are attentive and the place is clean. The food is also tasty so would definitely recommend. read more

Chill little restaurant with classic Chinese dishes that hit the spot. We got the large sauerkraut fish and it was enough for 4 people (though we weren't stuffed) and they gave us two bowls of rice. The restaurant feels clean and efficient but still nice for a sit down meal. It gets busy around meal time but we ate at 11:30am and it wasn't too busy yet. Order with an online tab, really easy. They have a nice variety of fish dishes and a lot of sides and add ons! Would definitely return. read more
Been here a couple times over the past couple of months and I am never disappointed by Wei'd Fish! Came here on a Saturday at 11 AM as a group of 5. We were seated right away with no wait, but there seemed to be a wait by the time we left around noon, so I would recommend coming early especially on busy weekends! ~The Food~ I believe the menu mentions that the small size is good for 1, and large is good for 2. I think the portions are pretty generous so I think it was sizing was pretty accurate! We ordered 2 Large size bowls between 5 folks to share family style and I think we all left pretty satisfied! - Large Green Szechuan Peppercorn Suancai & Fish: My favorite flavor there! This dish has a very strong malt numbing taste to it, which I personally love! We chose the lower price Basa Fish option, and we really enjoyed it! The fish is cooked super tender, goes really well with the soup. For our add-ins, we chose woodier mushrooms, Yuba (tofu skin), enoki, and celtuce! - Large Tangy Lemon Fish: This was our first time trying it and we actually really enjoyed this one! The lemon taste was definitely present but it wasn't too sour or overpowering and I think it added a nice overall flavor that paired well with the fish. - Golden buns (6 pieces): Pretty good! Nothing special, but you can really never go wrong with fried buns with condensed milk :) ~Pricing~ Super reasonable pricing imo! The portions are generous and I personally thought that this was the perfect amount for 5 people! ~Parking~ They do have a parking lot, but it can be a little limited when the restaurant is busy. I have been wanting to try this place for a while now. The orange and white sign caught my attention when driving by on deanza. I looked them up on Yelp and saw great reviews. My friend and I decided to give it a try this week. We arrived shortly after opening. We were seated and ordered: Sauerkraut fish soup: 5/5 loved the sour broth. The fish with skin was not fishy at all. We added celttuce and Enochi. It comes with a side of rice. Beef tender spicy mix: 4/5 shabu beef meat, ramen noodles and other veggies mixed in a mala sauce. This is a dry dish. It was tasty but I prefer the soup. The photos are deceiving in size. Their bowls are super shallow. Looking forward to coming back again. read more

Popular Chinese chain restaurant specialized in 酸菜鱼(boiled fish with picked cabbage). Their parking is very limited so expect to park on the street during busy hours. The price is reasonable n you can add two sides to some of them. Their food is salty side with salt/msg (as they advertise you can eat a lot of rice). the portion looks big in pic but the dish is shallow. I wished there were more fish. Their signature 酸菜鱼 is very spicy but you can ask for less spicy. We asked for 小辣 little spicy but the pic has no spicy.. Tomato one is also flavorful and sweet if you don't like spicy. Overall good place to have 酸菜鱼 for good price especially if you eat a lot of rice, but not for every day meal as it is high in sodium. read more
Parking lot right outside, very empty and no wait at the restaurant if you get there around 11. Service was fast and the menu is filled with yummy options. I don't love any of their sides like the sausage or the fried buns - they're just ok - but their soups are sooo good. Tried the lemon one this time and the way that the tangy soup pairs with the rice is amazing. Their other sauerkraut options with spice are great too! I love having celtuce as an option for add ins, and yuba and woodear! This is the same franchise as "Fish with You" in San Mateo. Their menus are the same. Came here after having this bookmarked for months and I def was very happy eating here! I got the large green sichuan soup with basa fish, lotus root, sweet potato noodle, and two other items I don't really remember tbh. My mom and I got a large one to share and tbh it def was a hefty amount for us, we had tons of leftover to bring back home and eat afterwards. I really enjoyed the numbingness of the sichuan peppercorn and getting a plum juice helps a lot. Ordering here is very quick, scan the QR code and the service is just as quick! I don't think they do unlimited rice anymore as they just gave us two bowls of rice and didn't say anything but it was fine for us. I def think this is worth the try! read more
