Got the first signature item on the menu. No mods allowed. The large is more than enough for two adults. Fast service. Soup was on the salty side and not as tasty as the location in cupertino. So oily.

I like how there are both spicy and completely non spicy options. They do give a good portion of fish and toppings but I found the fish to be a bit overcooked and the overall dish to be very oil heavy, more than suan cai yu usually is. Service is friendly and they do give free refills on the rice, although I can't imagine you'd need more than one bowl of rice because it is quite large.

Grand Opening in downtown Mountain View! Their signature pickle fish soup was delicious -- the fish fillet was very tender, and the soup was incredibly flavorful. If you're not a fish person, they also serve stir-fried chicken dishes and beef soup with different base flavors (tomato, pickle, etc.). Each soup is designed as an individual portion, but you can upgrade to a two-person sharing size. You can also customize the side dishes and order appetizers to go with your meal. Good portions, reasonable prices, friendly service -- a great casual spot to check out!

Small Hot Oil Infusion Sauekraut Fish Soup

Always a great experience at fish with you. I prefer the sichuan pepper fish over the hot oil infused ones . If you like spicy soup this place is for you !!! Pros They always have dinner meal combos on their QR code menu so something to look at before ordering The fish soup is large and can be shared among many people Less wait time & service is very prompt Cons The menu can be confusing, the prices are different for the type of fish you get

This is a brightly lit restaurant that is quite busy and has a giant fiberglass fish sitting out front. Now you'd think that I'd realize that a restaurant with a giant fish out front and with the word "fish" in the title the thing to order here was FISH and not chicken. Well, I ordered the chicken dish. The chicken was tasty but they sure skimped on it. There were only a few very small pieces of chicken in the bowl. For $18 there should have been a lot more chicken present. Maybe they are feeding the chicken to the fish! Also beware of the spiciness of the broth. The menu showed that it was at a level 2 but I requested a level 1. The first thing I did was take a sip of the broth and it was VERY spicy! Thank goodness for the glass of water in front of me. I did have the opportunity to taste one of the sauerkraut fish bowls and it was delicious. The broth wasn't exceedingly spicy and very good. It does make sense that a restaurant that specializes in fish has delicious fish dishes. Even though I made a mistake in ordering chicken, I shall return and order fish!

So good! I love fish, especially fish fillets in soups over rice or noodles. If you like it too, definitely come here. There are so many options for flavors, and I've already come back 3 times since I tried it for the first time two weeks ago.

Small Green Sichuan Pepper Sauekraut Fish Soup ($19.99)

Actually so delicious!!! Big shareable portions & everything is so flavorful. They specialize in sauerkraut fish but they also have other delicious flavor combos and beef options as well. I enjoyed everything, but my favorite was the Green Sichuan Pepper Sauekraut Fish Soup! Spicy, sour, and so comforting. I highly recommend upgrading your fish soups to snakehead fish for extra silky delicate slices! Also, all the dishes come with a side of rice which is really nice. Amazing 10/10 service. So attentive and they look like they are genuinely happy to see you enjoy the food. Place itself is very well-lit and bright; the layout reminds me of restaurants straight from China!

Sichuan green pepper fish: more strong mala flavor which I loved! Nice how you can choose veggies to add and the I really liked the sauerkraut and it added a lovely pickled vegetable to cut through the oil. Portion was very large. Over time the entire dish cooled and was not as enjoyable after but initially really good! Chicken tenders: funny item to order at a fish restaurant but tasted standard fried chicken. Nothing too special. Brown sugar rice cakes: tasted like standard soft chewy rice cakes. Brown sugar syrup was not too sweet. I like the slight crisp outside. It had some sort of soybean powder (?) sprinkled on top which was tasty, and added a hint of nuttiness Coconut lava balls: crunch on the outside and soft an warm in the middle, had coconut sago in the middle, fun to try but not my favorite Overall servers were very efficient and everything came out back to back! Not a big fan of the bright white and orange theme. Felt very sterile and luminescent but suppose it's part of the brand. Would return but perhaps ordering a smaller portion. All of this was a lot for two people!

I got the signature hot oil sauerkraut fish and was not disappointed! This was my first time having this dish, so I'm no expert. It is, by my estimation, delicious. In the future, I would switch out the default sweet potato glass noodles for a veggie or tofu, since the rice on the side (necessary to cut the spice) made noodles unnecessary. I surprisingly loved the "celtuce," or green bamboo sheets (I originally thought it was lettuce misspelled lol). Service was fast and friendly! Ambiance was casual, quick, and clean. I will definitely be coming back.

Signature Suancai & Fish

WHY WAS THIS SOOO GOOD??! I am a sucker for some really good soup, and that's basically all they serve here. I highly recommend the Laotan Sauerkraut Basa Fish or the Signature Suancai & Fish!!! Wow sooo yum! The broths are both so tangy and savory. The rice and potato noodles perfectly soak up all the flavor. The fish was really tasty of course, but I prefer the basa fish over the snakehead. Overall, I would come back just for this! The Princess Tomato Soup was decent and worth a try, but it's much more thick in consistency compared to the Signature. A really solid non-spicy option, but similar to other Chinese soup spots. The basa fish was so tender and cooked perfectly though! They were really generous with the enoki mushrooms and tofu (customizable). Tomato adds a strong acidic sweetness to the broth. Located in the walking street of Downtown Mountain View, expect to look for street parking or garages. It's conveniently located to many other restaurants and boba shops! Definitely check it out.

Beef golden soup
Kimberly H.

This was my first time trying out this style of dish and I really enjoyed it! I got the beef golden soup since I wasn't in the mood for fish. It already comes with a lot of other sides, such as enoki mushrooms, cabbage and more. I definitely think it's worth the price for the amount of meat and sides you get. I also tried the snake fish from my friends' bowls and it was soft and delicious. I was craving malatang but this definitely satisfied what I was craving, I think the beef golden soup is actually pretty similar to what I wanted. My friend got the green peppercorn and that soup was not as spicy, but still tasteful. We went on a Thursday night and it was easy to grab a table. Service is also nice and fast, we got our meals in roughly 10 minutes or less. Lights are a bit bright and environment is a bit on the warmer side, but OK especially at night. Overall I would come again!

SO happy that they finally opened a location in Mountain View! I've frequently visited their location both Cupertino and San Mateo, so excited to see another location open up! Came here as a party of 2 on a Friday night and we were seated after a short wait! ~the food~ The menu seems to be the exact same as the other locations. - Green Sichuan Peppercorn broth (size large) : tastes just like their other locations! Super flavorful and has a pretty strong numbing mala flavor! This is my favorite broth and imo isn't too heavy. We like to add the yuba, woodear mushroom, enoki, and celtuce! Large size is perfect for 2-3 people and small for 1-2! I believe the cupertino location has complimentary unlimited rice, but it seems like this location doesn't. The large comes with 2 rice and small comes with 1! I love fish with you and their suan cai yu, but I think they could offer a better selection of appetizer imo! I've tried their chicken tenders, woodear mushroom salad, coconut lava balls, and golden buns and they are all ok. Nothing too special. ~overall~ service was pretty fast and efficient even though they just opened! this is one of my favorite go-to casual dinner spots! portions are generous, prices are reasonable! i highly recommend giving this a try!

We enjoyed every dish! The chongqin spicy noodles, the salt and pepper shrimps, the sizzling cumin lamb, the fish in chili oil. Yum yum yum! We ordered the hottest version but it was not too spicy for us - it was very flavorful. The fresh cut red chillies they give you, was really spicy - the red bean spicy sauce was just right. We enjoyed the cool beers with the spicy food. It's a unique ambience for a Univ Ave restaurant- it's just a Chinese kitchen serving good food - like you came to a home and got served really well. Will come back again with more family members. Ps: another surprising thing - we were a party of 6 and they didn't automatically charge us the tip - I took care of them - because I was super satisfied and happy with my meal!

This is probably the only Chinese restaurant around here with such an inviting outdoor patio, which makes it perfect for us since our dog babies can relax too. The menu strikes a really smart balance between authentic Sichuan spicy dishes and more Americanized Chinese classics, so there's something for everyone. The signature spicy fish fillet in flaming red oil is a must-try -- bold, fragrant, and so satisfying it might have just saved me an expensive flight back to China. The chili oil wontons are my personal favorite starter and never disappoint. This is an easy repeat spot for us, and we'll definitely go back around CNY days.

I was searching for restaurant that served peking duck and after reading the reviews, this place…read moreseemed like a great place to eat at. I called them and they picked up right away and were able to accommodate our large party of 15 for a later date. We opted for a private room (semi-private) fyi it's not fully enclosed. They told us the minimum food & beverage is $800 to rent that space. We pre-ordered 2 ducks before we got there and I recommend if you plan to get any of the specialty MP items such as cod, lobster or crab to also pre-ordered in case they run out. Here's what we ordered and yes we had so so much food leftover since trying to meet our minimum! Roast Peking Duck ($78) 4/5 They roll it out on a cart and slice it up in front of you. Comes with thin warm pancakes little plates of toppings (cucumbers, green onions, sugar). Duck skin was crispy and the meat was tender. After that they deep fried the bones in and toss in a chili sauce and made a duck clear soup broth as well. That was really refreshing broth to slurp up. Honey Walnut Shrimp ($24.95) 4/5 These were massive! HUGUMOUS shrimp nicely fried and tossed lightly in the sauce and came with perfectly candied walnuts. Fried Shrimps with corn in salted egg yolk ($32.95) 5/5 I really like food in salted egg yok. I think they use the same size shrimp like the honey walnut shrimp. Nicely coated in the salted egg you along with pieces of salted egg yolk corn. This was one of the best dishes I had. Cumin Lamb $22.95 (4/5) I don't usually eat much lamb but this was really tasty. It wasn't gamey at all and the meat was cooked tender and slight spicy. XLB $14.95 (4/5) These were huge too! It comes with 6 and yummy piping hot soup inside. Dry-Fried String Beans w/garlic $16.95 (4/5) Everyone enjoyed this. This was the only dish we ate all of. Orange Chicken $18.95 (4/5) Nice chunks of fried chicken tossed in the sweet and tangy orange sauce and fresh orange slices. Sweet and Sour short ribs $22.95 (3/5) This wasn't was I was expecting. It was the really tiny pork bones and tasted caramelized sugar not really sweet or sour? I think they put in the wrong order. Fried boneless chicken with explosive chili $18.95 (4/5) If you like fried spicy, really spicy chicken get this. Pumpkin fried with salted egg yolk $26.95 (5/5) The pumpkin pieces were sliced thin and covered in the salted egg yolk. This was really good. Braised sliced pork belly w/preserved vegetable served w/buns $28.95 (4/5) The pork belly was super tender in a delicious broth. This was tasty as we put them into the buns to eat. Steamed black cod $128 (MP) 4/5 I think this as about 2-3lbs. Steamed perfectly and the fish meat was tender and really tasty. Pinot wine $128 (4/5) They only have like 2 selections of wine it was either this one bottle of pinot or this one bottle of cab only. So if you are picky about wine, you should probably bring your own and pay corkage fees. 10 steamed rice $20 The service was really good although one dish they brought out the wrong one and took it off the bill. They cleaned up the table for us since we brought in a cake to celebrate. Overall, I'd come back there to eat. The food was delicious, a little pricy but hey its, in Palo Alto and the food portions were worth it.
