This place absolutely lived up to the name Joyous Cuisine. When you walk inside you find yourself in a warm, secluded and simply yet intentionally designed interior that makes you feel right at home. The food comes quickly and is piping hot. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was absolutely delicious and paired excellently with the beer we got. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a new place to try! My friends and I had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!

Sunday dinner time, our family was looking to eat noodles and we walked along Castro and found this place. It's been on my wish list to try, so luckily they had a table for 6 inside. The decor and ambiance is Chinese with pictures on the wall, bamboo and lighting. We ordered food to share. The noodle bowls and portions are generous, enough for 2 people to share. I like the rice noodles, which are round and chewy. Beef was tender. The XLB was fresh and juicy inside. You order by scanning the QR code and the bill is together. We needed some help by the server, but they were very friendly. By the time our food came, the other tables filled up. People were ordering hotpots, which seemed like their big hit. The happy ending was the soft serve ice cream machine that the kids and adults enjoyed. Highly recommended.

The food is not bad. The sizzling beef pot came with two bowls of rice for its smallest portion. The $2 add-on for rice noodles was more than fair. We got the non spicy tomato broth but it was little bland. Ordering was using a QR code with both English and Mandarin menus. It was pretty straightforward. The decoration inside is nice with some pleasant background music (kingdom heart songs at some point) playing and complimentary vanilla ice cream machine.

New competition to the Asian landscape at Castro, Downtown, Mountain View. The Signature dish is worth trying - A Whole Live Bass fried & served in a tasty broth of your choice with an assortment of veggies. U do get to customize it, we did the Spicy version. The steamed Black pork soup dumplings are also a good choice. The menu is elaborate with lots of choices. Place is busy, service quick.

The portion for the noodle and stinky tofu intestine pot was pretty big. I enjoyed the beef rice noodle a lot. The broth was very good. The stinky tofu intestine pot was big and it comes with rice; however, it was too salty. We were told this pot size we chose was the portion for 2 ppl, but I feel like we could easily split this between 4 ppl. The XLB was not bad, but pretty average. The free soft serve machine is toward the middle/back of the shop, so if you're sitting in the front area, don't forget to check that out. They don't tell you where the ice cream is - I just happened to see it when I was on the way to the bathroom. Interior was pretty, they did a good job designing the restaurant.

Came on a Wednesday night with a couple friends, and what a hidden gem this place is! The dining experience felt personal and was very good. It wasn't too busy, has a modern look to it; you order by scanning the QR code. We decided on the beef spicy pot, soup dumplings, cucumber salad, and the fish soup. The beef and fish dishes were spicy, had a numbing kick to it, and pairs well with rice. The cucumber salad was refreshing with the minced garlic. The soup dumplings were solid, had a good amount of juice in them and tender skin and meat. As the whole, I would give the food a 4.2/5. Service was excellent, the wait staff were quick and gave us extra rice to pair with the spicy and flavorful dishes. They ended up not charging us for the rice which was very nice of them.

This is a Northern China cousin in Castro Street . The inside decorations is very green and you feel like you are sitting inside a bamboo forrest . The menu has many varieties. The best choices are the beef brisket noodle soup or fish noodle soup , marinated pig ear and steamed Xian lun bao . My friend ordered a beef trip dish and it was kind of rubbery and hard to chew . Service was good and dishes came out quickly. For the evening that you don't want to cook , This would be a good option .

We came around lunchtime, and was seated immediately. Only one or two other parties were seated, so it was pretty quiet. You order via QR code. The interior is nicely decorated with all of the foliage (fake or not!) We were in the mood for not-noodles, so maybe we're not giving the restaurant a fair shake. We ordered the black pork wonton, crab meat dumplings, premium black pork soup dumplings, pan-fried Japanese black pork soup dumplings, and fried & Braised chicken wings. Wonton: Astonishingly bland. Maybe it was simply wontons boiled in water? As a result, neither the wontons nor the soup it came in tasted like much. Both the crab meat dumplings and the pork dumplings were that great, either. The filling was lacking in flavor. They bring out a small tray with ginger and vinegar for these. The pan-fried dumplings were decent, but quite oily. A similar condiments tray was brought out for these. The fried chicken wings were tasty, though! Nicely crispy, and the small dust pile of chili flakes added a nice kick. They give you some plastic gloves (we received 3 gloves between two people). We might come back to try the noodles, though.

Joyous Cuisine recently had its soft opening, so I decided to bring my family to try it out. We ordered several dishes including different types of Xiao Long Bao, dumplings, wontons, noodles, and their signature lamb pot. Everything was tasty and honestly exceeded my expectations for a soft opening. What stood out the most was their service. The server spoke with a gentle voice, refilled our water often, and made us feel very welcome. They also offered free ice cream when you dine in. The ice cream was not the best, but kids might enjoy it. Overall, a great experience and I am giving it five stars mainly because of their excellent service on top of the foods.

We went here at 4pm when it was not busy - a few tables were occupied. Ordering was done by scanning the QR code on the table. We only ordered 3 items and they forgot one of them until I asked about it. Food was okay but the service needed improvement.

Solid spot with a variety of dishes. We had friends in town for a wedding and decided to try out Joyous. Everyone ordered noodles, but I decided to try something different. I went with their Guizhou Sour Soup Fish fillet and it was spicy, flavorful, and filled with fish. They did not skimp out at all on the fish. I feel like this dish is pretty worth and can be shared with two people or saved for two meals. Service was extremely quick with the noodles while my fish took some time but not too bothered by that. The interior is extremely spacious and can fit large parties. If I'm too lazy to cook, I'll definitely order their fish soup to go or try their other soups and dishes!

We saw Joyous cuisine recommended by someone on Tik Tok so we thought to try it for dinner while we're in the area. They have free ice cream if you dine in! :) Our group ordered: Poached Wagyu noodle bowl 4.5/5 (depends on if you like the numbing spice, it might be 5/5 for you). Impressed at first bite and then the flavor kind of went way. Maybe because of the mala lol. It's a big bowl so you should definitely share to try everything the first time. Cold dishes: Cucumber salad 2.5/5 - Cucumber salad needed more flavor. We dipped it with the dumpling vinegar sauce and it helped make the dish a bit better Pig Ear 2.5/5 - Pig Ear was thick. Need some more flavor as well - The crunchy roasted peanuts were a good addition to the dishes though Dumplings: Pan fried Fish roe and meat 4/5 - The size of the dumpling were cute - Perfectly fried and had some soup inside Premium Black pork soup dumplings 5/5 - Love at first bite Service: They were fast and attentive. Has indoor and outdoor seating

I recently checked out this spot for mifen in downtown Mountain View. We came to get the rice noodle soup and I ended up getting the beef shank sliced noodle soup which came with a nice variety of veggies and tofu products but unfortunately the pork bone broth lacked depth. The broth was pretty bland and while the other ingredients added some flavor I felt like the noodles as a whole was missing something. We also shared squid, leek and enoki beef skewers. Out of the 3, the leek was actually my favorite. The squid was pretty good but left uncut and difficult to eat off the skewer. The emoji wrapped in beef was too oily and fatty though and I didn't end up finishing the skewer. The food was just ok and for Mountain View, there are better mifen spots around so I probably wouldn't come back again for the rice noodles.

Reservation was easy to make over the phone and you have to preorder duck ahead of time. We also got pan fried buns, bok choy, and mandarin fish. Dishes are expensive but good quality. I read mixed reviews about the duck but I thought it was great - crispy skin and relatively tender/juicy meat. It is the first time I've seen an extra charge for the duck pancake wrappers; it was not a pleasant surprise but at least they were thin and delicious. We opted to have a soup made from the leftover duck and that was delicious. Service was also pretty good; they even packaged the leftovers for us. Highly recommend for a special occasion or to impress friends but too much of a splurge to go to regularly.

Unfortunately, it just wasn't as good overall as the Belmont spot. The space itself is older, and the seating feels pretty tight and not as comfortable. As for the food, we ordered the Peking duck, which came with a lot of meat, but the duck itself didn't taste fresh at all. It had that distinct, stale "old meat" taste to it, and the texture was completely off and mushy rather than having a nice, fresh bite. The xiao long bao missed the mark too--the wrappers were too thick and the filling wasn't nearly as savory or delicious as what we're used to. Even the basic steamed rice tasted like a cheaper, lower-quality grain. For the other dishes, the stir-fried scallion lamb was way too salty, even though we specifically asked them to go light on the salt, and it lacked that deep umami flavor they get so right at the other location. On the bright side, the Treasure's signature beef honeycomb tripe was actually really good, though the spice level is definitely on the higher side so beware if you're sensitive to heat. For dessert, I finished with the sesame glutinous rice balls in sweet rice wine because it's one of my absolute favorites, but it fell short since there was barely any wine or osmanthus flavor. The service was also pretty lacking throughout the night. They didn't even bother to clear our dirty dinner plates off the tight table after we ordered our dessert, so everything was incredibly cramped. They also completely ignored the rest of our Peking duck instead of proactively asking what we wanted to do with the carcass bones and the remaining meat. We had to specifically flag them down ourselves to ask about it and explain what we wanted done with it, which should really be standard practice for a proper duck service. Compared to the sister restaurant, the execution, environment, and service here just aren't quite there yet.

Must check it out; looks dated, but still open so, food should be decent? C1 lunch plate consists of barbecue roast pork fried rice, chicken Chow mien and an egg roll with the sweet sour dipping sauce. All greasy but tasty. Stir fry beef with bitter melon in black bean sauce and white rice that my friend got was healthier and pretty good; she liked it. For dinner at China Wok, another pal and I enjoyed the almost scalding hot Westlake soup to start, and then dug into the house Chow mien, then fish fillet with snow peas. Noodles were great texture with excellent wok hay flava and contained shrimp, pork, chicken, onions and bean sprouts. I really enjoyed the delicate white fish sautéed in opaque sauce with snow peas, carrots and water chestnuts. I found everything very tasty. Service was brusque and adequate at lunch, slightly more welcoming at dinner. Oh and if you need to use the loo, don't expect much. There's a key you take outside.. yup, exit the building, and it's in the rear. Serviceable toilet and sink.. dim lighting makes everything appear dingy. Exactly like oldie gas stations and rest stops. Maybe this building was a fueling station for trucks before someone turned it into China Wok. Still, the Chinese American food here is legit; basic but tastes good. Value, amenities, atmosphere and service, though, could stand to improve. Upping a star just for being a place that has stuck around for some decades and is still standing.

I thought the portion size for the Chow Mein was a bit small for the price. Service was abrupt and not super friendly. When it was time to pay, you have to step up to the cashier.
