Visited on a Thursday night for dinner and the restaurant was packed! They seated us inside which was very humid and loud. We tried the Diavola pizza which was amazing! I absolutely love the dough and how light it is. They served their pizza real fast which was greatly appreciated. Our server missed our order of Gnocchi the first time because the restaurant was so packed and loud so we had to wait another 15 minutes for it. The gnocchi was flavorful and if you like eggplant you love this! I think the servers seemed very stressed out honestly and the environment was so loud to the point they couldn't hear our orders. There's barely any space to walk at times too. I would hope they fix these issues and maybe add some AC in there since it does get real stuffy at times. To be safe, I made a reservation for the only available time slot, which was later than we preferred. After we arrived, one of us let the staff know that we'd be happy to be seated earlier if possible. They were very considerate and seated us as soon as our full party arrived--table availability clearly worked in our favor. The menu is extensive and offers something for everyone, including vegans. The food was good overall, and the pizza crust was exceptional. I do wish the tiramisu lived up to its name, though--the dessert lacked the essential coffee flavor. My husband said their Napoli style pizza was legit and I am obsessed with their vegan pizza. It had grilled bell peppers, mushrooms and a pumpkin puree. Nice restaurant located in the heart of downtown Mountain View. Plenty of outdoor seating and good indoor seating with full bar. One con though is that the inside of the restaurant was HOT. My husband and I came in on a Friday before 5:00pm and it wasn't packed. The tables were close by each other and by the end of dinner, we were surrounded by other patrons and the body heats of other people and even the waitress was radiating as the inside was already extremely hot. It was uncomfortably hot for my husband and I's comfort that we packed the rest of our food and left. We will definitely be sitting outside. It was only about 72 degrees out for context. We ordered the little gem salad to start and it was delicious! The anchovy was extremely citrusy, even for my liking as someone who likes extra lemon, but it was still good, just a note for others who may be sensitive to it. The Jalepeno pizza was good and had a nice kick. We dressed it with the spicy oil and it was definitely delicious, although we assumed it was just regular oil and doused it. I ordered the fregola del pescatore and was thoroughly impressed. There was plenty of seafood and they did not skimp out. The portion was great and enough to share. Neopolitan Pizza with many prestigious accolades since 2014. This spot and Terun are the go-to when we are in the mood for fancy pizza and pasta. It's located in downtown mountain view and it's always hectic but if you park in the free structure in Bryant you can go down a little alley and it'll bring you right to the front of Doppio Zero. Pizzas: all wood-fired at extremely high heat with distinct chewy crust and char marks. These are slightly larger than teruns and when we ordered 3 for 3 adults and 2 children we had an entire one left for leftovers. The Diavola is like a Margherita but with arugula and chorizo and no basil, it's my wife's favorite. The kids love the Salsiccia, sausage bell peppers, onion, and olives. Pasta: we've tried the squid ink pasta, wild boar fettuccine, and ravioli on seperate occasions and the pasta was great but the overall dishes were too salty for us, especially the squid ink. Drinks: their specialty cocktails are very good, I tried the Napoli Gin recently and it was fantastic. The aperol spritz and Negroni are also in-italy level of you want something classic. The free bread with olive oil and balsamic come hot which makes it even more tasty, try not to get too full on it though! They do take reservations but if you come at 11:30 even on weekenda you should have no problems getting a seat. read more

My expectations were low, yet they still managed to disappoint me. It was just a standard night, where we decided to order some take out due to the busyness of the week. Sure, we could have picked it up ourselves! This would have been an internal quality control check and we could have avoided the issue. However, it was a busy day and I was already tired from traffic coming from work. My wife is also pregnant, so I wouldn't have her do it. We decided to pay extra for delivery. Here lies the issue. We ordered a margherita pizza and a jalapeno pizza. Easy enough, no? You'd be surprised. The boxes were stacked, the receipt on top and clearly stating "MARGHERITA PIZZA X1, JALAPENO PIZZA X1" plain as day. The boxes arrive. We open, and guess what we find? Two margherita pizzas. Where is the jalapeno pizza? Probably where the food service's brain is as well. I understand that this is a first world problem, trust me. Yet we are still paying for a service, why is that so difficult to achieve? Two pizzas, that's all. They weren't complicated orders at all. Yet the number of steps required to screw this up is phenomenal. At no step along the way did anyone think to fix anything. Did they receive the receipt, read a margherita and jalapeno pizza and still put two margherita pizzas in the oven? Who knows! Did they maybe prepare the two pizzas but then mix up boxes, stack them, tag the receipt, and call it a day with no additional check? Could be! I get it. Capitalism sucks and this establishment is probably paying these workers minimum wage, so they could literally not be paid enough to care. But the enemy is Big Doppio Zero, not me. Brothers and sisters, we should be united in this front, not tearing each other down. But you forced my hand on this one. I didn't get my pizza and my day is immeasurably ruined. EDIT: So I'm back because I finally actually had a slice. That didn't make anything better. In fact, I'm somehow even more distraught. The margherita pizza I was forced to eat against my will is a travesty. Tasted like a moist piece of cardboard. There were maybe two basil leaves? I'm sorry, is there a basil shortage? Additionally, the pizza wasn't cut at all. Was the expectation I turn it into a giant calzone and shove it down my gullet? Doppio Zero really is just operating under a "Here piggy piggy, enjoy your slop!" mentality. (Decent amount of cheese though, I'll give them that but nothing more.) The sauce was perfectly seasoned, the sausage and the arugula balanced each other out, and the dough was exactly what you'd want from a rustic, old school style pie. Came on a Saturday night to celebrate my birthday! Was in the mood for a cozy Neapolitan-style pizza. I made a reservation online, we were seated right away indoors. It was pretty busy throughout the restaurant and outdoor patio, and it was pretty loud inside, with moody dim lighting. We started out with an appetizer in the Burrata. It was my first time trying it, and I was surprised by how refreshing it was! The cheese was fresh and paired very well with the baguette slice and honey. It had a nice sweetness and smokiness to it. Then we tried the Margherita pizza with anchovies and Salsiccia pizza. The crust was airy and fluffy, but still maintained a good crispy texture at the edges. The anchovies added a salty umami flavor to the tomato and cheese base, which was an interesting contrast. The Salsiccia was also good, but I preferred the simpler Margherita. My friend ordered the sea urchin spaghetti special when we went, and it had a creamy sea urchin-tasting sauce. Portion sizes were average for the area and price. Service was quick and staff were friendly and attentive. I'm not the biggest Italian food fan, but for the quality and experience it was well worth it. Yummy taste - combination of wild mushroom, cheese and truffle oil. Love the balance of creamy sauce against the lightly charred thin crust. With my latest visit, I am unfortunately going to have to bring my previous review down a notch. First off, servers are still great and that hasn't changed. That being said, care on more basic servicing seems to have gone down hill. I ordered a glass of wine and the glass that my wine came in was obviously not washed well. I could immediately tell from a glance so I would think anyone unloading the dishes, lining up the cups, or pouring the wine would have been able to see this as well. It was kind of gross and an unappealing way to start the meal. They speedily replaced the glass when asked but I'd hope that such a glass would never even reach a customer's table? That aside, I hope I came on an off day of sorts but the food was only passable. The pizza's toppings were very sparse and for a freshly baked pizza it was weirdly soggy. And my boyfriend's was waaaay too salty, even by my boyfriend's standards and he eats generally likes salty food. For appetizers, we were basic and ordered fries, but also I was intrigued by the fried artichokes. They were so yummy, they had a hint of lemon and the sauce paired perfectly. For our main dishes we both ordered lasagna, and it was something you couldn't mess up on. It was very flavorful, filling, and hearty. So comforting. Lastly, for dessert I ordered the Hazelnut Tartufo which gave off the taste of a Ferrero Rocher. My husband wanted the chocolate soufflé which was only offered on the Valentine's Day special menu, but we asked the server if we could order it and they kindly let us! There was lots of parking in the city free parking structure behind the restaurant. We were seated promptly and service was attentive and good throughout our lunch. We ordered the Fried Calamari and Shrimp, Fregola Del Pescatore and Ravioli. The Shrimp and Calamari was a nice combination and fried with a light breading to perfection. The Calamari was very tender. It was accompanied with a bland Marinara sauce and they didn't have Tabasco sauce to kick it up and make it more like a cocktail sauce. The seafood pasta lacked flavor and the couscous like Fregola got stuck in the clam shells so a fettuccine or linguine would probably be better for this dish. The spinach ravioli had a nice rich cheese taste. This is mostly a pizza and appetizer place with limited pasta and entree menu selections compared with other Italian venues.
