We started with the fried calamari & shrimp which were fine (a little overcooked & a little too salty but still tasty). We also decided to split the Doppio Zero Pizza & the Squid Ink Pasta. I really loved the taste of the pizza and the doughy crust (so cheesy with the burrata), but my friend did not like that the bottom was soggy. Very busy during the 4th of July weekend and they seemed to have only two waitresses. We weren't really greeted and the waitress never really smiled and seemed very rushed but I understand it's not always easy. Food was ok. Unfortunately the sauce was salty in the lasagna and I love salty. The pasta dish which I forgot the name, surprisingly my friend sent it back, they felt the pasta was undercooked and i had to agree. We sent it back and unfortunately the pasta was still a little more on the harder side almost crunchy still. Decided to finally try this place since we're frequently in the Mountain View area, and it definitely seems to be a popular spot. Especially on Friday nights. The restaurant itself is very lively, spacious, and able to accommodate a large crowd, which gives it a fun atmosphere for groups or date nights. Service was a bit mixed, particularly at the host stand. There were two hosts working, and one definitely came across much friendlier and more attentive than the other. We were initially quoted 30-35 minutes for a table for 3, which felt reasonable for a Friday evening. However, after waiting around 45 minutes, we checked in on our spot in line and the second host brushed us off without actually checking the list, simply repeating, "It's 35 minutes." Thankfully, the first host stepped in, checked the waitlist properly, and let us know we were actually next once a 4-top left. It wasn't a huge issue, but as first-time customers, the inconsistency in communication left a slightly off first impression. In total, we waited about 1 hour and 15 minutes, though we did end up getting seated indoors, which was nice. As for the food: * Jalapeño Pizza - The salami being sliced thinly was unique and gave the pizza a nice texture, though overall it leaned saltier than I'd prefer. * Doppio Zero Pizza (without arugula) - Easily my favorite dish of the night. Visited on a Thursday night for dinner and the restaurant was packed! They seated us inside which was very humid and loud. We tried the Diavola pizza which was amazing! I absolutely love the dough and how light it is. They served their pizza real fast which was greatly appreciated. Our server missed our order of Gnocchi the first time because the restaurant was so packed and loud so we had to wait another 15 minutes for it. The gnocchi was flavorful and if you like eggplant you love this! I think the servers seemed very stressed out honestly and the environment was so loud to the point they couldn't hear our orders. There's barely any space to walk at times too. I would hope they fix these issues and maybe add some AC in there since it does get real stuffy at times. It has more of a pudding type texture. The cider was amazing! A sweet not too strong beer and berry flavor. The service was top notch as well and they attended to our 6 person table very quickly. Let me start off by saying outdoor on the strip is definitely a vibe, to soak in the warm daylight sun or take in the night lights and people watch on a warm night. Eating out on the patio during this time is also a wonderful cherry on top! I was taken away at how delicious the Neapolitan pizza was and I'm glad my first time trying it was here. It was so good! It was very light and airy though some may say that it's chewy. I also discovered a new type of pasta grain here which was SO interesting - the pearls! To be safe, I made a reservation for the only available time slot, which was later than we preferred. After we arrived, one of us let the staff know that we'd be happy to be seated earlier if possible. They were very considerate and seated us as soon as our full party arrived--table availability clearly worked in our favor. The menu is extensive and offers something for everyone, including vegans. On Christmas eve we hopped on the Cal Train from SJ Diridon and got off at Mountain View for a short walk to Doppio for lunch. Years ago my husband and I were in Napoli and the Amalfi Coast for the holidays and this felt like a toddler friendly version of that. We were seated right away in the sunny patio and ordered their calamari and shrimp along with a classic margherita pizza and the pizza vegana for me. The seafood appetizer tasted so delicate and fresh, not greasy or heavy. The red sauce that it was served with was spectacular and tasted like they just made it. My husband said their Napoli style pizza was legit and I am obsessed with their vegan pizza. It had grilled bell peppers, mushrooms and a pumpkin puree. I drizzled some oil and had to practice restraint to not finish it all and over do it. The service was prompt and friendly. The one bathroom was very clean. My team came here for an amazing offsite lunch. We had a large group of 12 that they handled really well. Our server was incredibly patient taking our orders despite some people being a little bit difficult, and they somehow managed to bring out all 12 of our meals within a few minutes of each other. I'm vegan and the menu is not bad, they have vegan ravioli and pizza as entrees and a couple of vegan friendly appetizers, all labelled on the menu. I got the vegan pizza which was really really good, I loved the combination of toppings (yellow tomato sauce, whole olives, bell peppers, onions, funghi mushrooms, maybe some other veggies) and the neapolitan style crust was lovely. The pizza was decently large, I found half to be a good amount for lunch. One note they only slice the pizza into 4 pieces and I had to cut each slice in half to be able to pick them up without making a mess. Nice restaurant located in the heart of downtown Mountain View. Plenty of outdoor seating and good indoor seating with full bar. One con though is that the inside of the restaurant was HOT. My husband and I came in on a Friday before 5:00pm and it wasn't packed. The tables were close by each other and by the end of dinner, we were surrounded by other patrons and the body heats of other people and even the waitress was radiating as the inside was already extremely hot. It was uncomfortably hot for my husband and I's comfort that we packed the rest of our food and left. We will definitely be sitting outside. It was only about 72 degrees out for context. We ordered the little gem salad to start and it was delicious! The anchovy was extremely citrusy, even for my liking as someone who likes extra lemon, but it was still good, just a note for others who may be sensitive to it. The Jalepeno pizza was good and had a nice kick. We dressed it with the spicy oil and it was definitely delicious, although we assumed it was just regular oil and doused it. I ordered the fregola del pescatore and was thoroughly impressed. There was plenty of seafood and they did not skimp out. The portion was great and enough to share. Neopolitan Pizza with many prestigious accolades since 2014. This spot and Terun are the go-to when we are in the mood for fancy pizza and pasta. It's located in downtown mountain view and it's always hectic but if you park in the free structure in Bryant you can go down a little alley and it'll bring you right to the front of Doppio Zero. Pizzas: all wood-fired at extremely high heat with distinct chewy crust and char marks. These are slightly larger than teruns and when we ordered 3 for 3 adults and 2 children we had an entire one left for leftovers. The Diavola is like a Margherita but with arugula and chorizo and no basil, it's my wife's favorite. The kids love the Salsiccia, sausage bell peppers, onion, and olives. Pasta: we've tried the squid ink pasta, wild boar fettuccine, and ravioli on seperate occasions and the pasta was great but the overall dishes were too salty for us, especially the squid ink. Drinks: their specialty cocktails are very good, I tried the Napoli Gin recently and it was fantastic. The aperol spritz and Negroni are also in-italy level of you want something classic. The free bread with olive oil and balsamic come hot which makes it even more tasty, try not to get too full on it though! Came on a Saturday night to celebrate my birthday! Was in the mood for a cozy Neapolitan-style pizza. I made a reservation online, we were seated right away indoors. The anchovies added a salty umami flavor to the tomato and cheese base, which was an interesting contrast. The Salsiccia was also good, but I preferred the simpler Margherita. My friend ordered the sea urchin spaghetti special when we went, and it had a creamy sea urchin-tasting sauce. Portion sizes were average for the area and price. Service was quick and staff were friendly and attentive. I'm not the biggest Italian food fan, but for the quality and experience it was well worth it.
