I parked 1-2 blocks away and walked over, not too bad for a weeknight. I decided on the margarita la michoacana and wow, that cocktail was beautiful. Great taste and aesthetics! I would definitely order it again. We ordered some appetizers to share, and food came out at a great rate. The restaurant was crowded and lively. I decided on the salmone alla griglia even though, yes, this place specializes in pizza. I will probably order a pizza next time but was intrigued by the black rice. I think they need to cook the rice longer though, it was very firm. I didn't wind up finishing it, and took it home. I did wind up adding more water and cooking the rice a bit longer when I ate it the next day and the texture was much better. The tartufo was absolutely delicious. Went here on a Friday night for a party of 2. We had made a reservation ahead of time so we didn't have to wait a long time, but there was a long line of people waiting to dine in. I liked the ambiance, however, I think the restaurant itself was a little small. My friend and I were seated by the door so there was a lot of traffic passing and the tables with the stools were quite snug for what we ordered, especially with another party sitting right next to us. I thought the service was 4/5. Our server didn't really check on us much and it took a while for us to close out because no one came by to check in with us. Silicon Valley Pizza Week was why we came here. We always wanted to come here but this was our first time. It was good. We had the Vessuvio pizza. It was delicious. I liked the fluffy, charred crust from the wood fire oven. The Brussel sprouts were good and the pear salad was delicious. We felt like we needed two veggie dishes to offset the pizza. Seating is really tight inside. They had a huge party sitting in the middle of the restaurant which made it difficult to maneuver. This place got packed quickly on a Friday night. Decided to order the buffalina to go. To be honest the staff was a bit curt and it seemed like some of them had bad attitudes. Thankfully I was just ordering to go but it is something I observed as I was waiting for my order. The pizza was done very quickly, less than 10 minutes so that was great. I decided to take a bite as soon as I left and it was really good. The crust was crispy and chewy at the same time. The cheese was melty and there was a perfect amount of char on the pizza. My original intention was to take this back to the hotel and I did but it definitely tastes best fresh. My friends and I visited Doppio Zero on 03/17/25 for dinner, and the experience was a mix of highs and lows. Service & Atmosphere Right from the start, the hostess left a bad first impression. When I approached her to put my name on the waitlist, she looked like she absolutely hated every minute of her job--her bored, uninterested attitude really rubbed me the wrong way. I get that hosting can be a repetitive job, but a little friendliness goes a long way. We were quoted a 30-minute wait, which was fine since some of my friends were still on their way. Since it was raining and freezing outside, we waited in the lobby. Once our table was ready, the hostess barely put in any effort, simply saying "follow me this way" in the most lifeless tone. Not a dealbreaker, but definitely not a welcoming start. The overall vibe of the restaurant was very busy and noisy--which is understandable for a popular spot, but it was so loud that I could barely hear my friend sitting diagonally from me. I had to lean in constantly, which made conversation difficult. On the plus side, the bussers were super efficient, clearing plates quickly without making us feel rushed, which I really appreciated. Food & Drinks Once we were seated, I ordered the house white wine, which paired beautifully with the Doppio Zero White Pizza--easily my favorite dish of the night. It had a great balance of flavors, and I'd definitely order it again. For appetizers, we tried the Truffle Fries, and honestly, they were the worst truffle fries I've ever had. They were just shoestring fries with a faint hint of truffle oil--no Parmesan, no richness, nothing special. If I wanted plain fries, I could've gotten them anywhere. Definitely not worth ordering again. We also ordered the Diavola pizza, which was solid--not as amazing as the white pizza, but still flavorful and well-made. For dessert, we had the Tiramisu, which was incredibly creamy and delicious. I would come back just for this. I also had my eye on the Limoncello Sponge Cake, but I'll have to save that for next time! Final Thoughts Overall, Doppio Zero had some hits and misses. The pizza and tiramisu were amazing, but the truffle fries were a huge letdown. The service was pretty average, aside from the hostess, who could definitely use a little more enthusiasm. (Not so) hidden gem on Castro! Came here on Tuesday night at 8:30 pm. To my surprise, the restaurant was packed despite it being late on a weeknight. The restaurant was very dark, and it was filled with many people having conversations with one another. We were served and attended to very quickly. We had to order the Doppio Zero pizza, after all, it's named after the place! First, the waiter brought us some complimentary bread, which we dipped into balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Who can go wrong with fresh and warm bread? A great opener to our Doppio Zero pizza, which was topped with burrata, prosciutto, and arugula. The warmness of the crust complimented the cool nature of the burrata and prosciutto perfectly. It was the perfect size for my friend and I to share as a (somewhat) late night dinner. I will say though -- the pizza was cut into fourths, and it was kinda hard to eat. It was hard to hold the slice without the arugula or prosciutto falling off. I ended up having to resort to using a fork and knife, but delicious nonetheless. Price-wise, Doppio Zero can lean on the higher side, but I'd say it's expected for a Castro Street restaurant. Although I only ordered one dish, I was utterly surprised with Doppio Zero -- a great Italian staple in the Bay. Thought the food was overrated Like many downtown mountain view restaurant, Doppio is plastered with local awards and maybe I saw a Michelin star there. This was definitely one of the times I question those awards strongly. I ordered take out. Maybe that's why the food wasn't that great? Time to go into detail. I ordered the squid ink pasta and doppio zero. My go-to for Italian places are usually squid ink and their "signature". The squid ink had a good dry noodle texture, but the flavor was severely lacking. There wasn't much besides the pasta that was seasoned ever so lightly. I don't like strong, flavorful stuff at italian restaurants. I guess I don't like bland flavors either. The doppio zero sounded like it had the makings of a hit. Prosciutto, fresh veggies, the "naan-like" dough (never heard this one, why market like this), and burratta. The texture of the dough was ok to good, it was soft and airy inside (I like). There were several burnt spots on my dough. Whatever, it happens. But I just felt like the place hyped itself up so much for that. The prosciutto was... I thought it tasted the same as the ones from costco. Sorry! I did not think it was special. The burratta didn't have character nor anything memorable about it. While picking up my order, the host took so long to get to the front and grab my order. I understand that they were helping someone at the table. But really, not even "I'll get back with you in a moment" ? And after getting to me, I was asked to wait for another lady who was supposed to grab my food and get my money. My group of five got a last-minute reservation for a Monday dinner, and my friends who've been here before ordered us a whole spread. We got truffle french fries, ravioli, seafood pasta, Doppio Zero pizza, and Fungo pizza, and we ended up ordering a Margherita pizza later on. My favorites were the truffle french fries and mushroom pizza. The french fries are superrrrrr thin and crispy with the perfect amount of truffle flavor. The mushroom pizza is loaded with different types of mushrooms and the white sauce, cheese, and garlic all melds together in a yummy bite. The pizzas are a personal size and come cut in 4 slices so I think it's great to order multiple things to share, so you can try different pies and see which one you like best. "From Fine Dining to Fast Decline" I've been coming to Doppio Zero in Mountain View since 2021, and it's heartbreaking to see how drastically the quality and service have gone downhill. Today was the final straw. We walked in right as the restaurant opened at 5 PM, just looking to grab a quick bite. The host (an Asian girl) greeted us with an attitude that set the tone immediately. When I mentioned we didn't have a reservation, she flatly replied, "Well, our tables are booked, so if you finish before 6:45 PM you can sit outside, but we'll need the table back after that." I remember thinking to myself--what a warm welcome that is. Still, we decided to give it another chance. Unfortunately, the food was just as disappointing as the service. Their "Michelin-starred" pizzas arrived undercooked to the point that I could literally knead the dough like Play-Doh. The crust was a clumpy, gummy mess, and every bite left a trail of raw flour snowing onto my napkin. I even took photos because it was that unbelievable. The mozzarella claimed to be fresh on the Margherita was like chewing on rubber which means it was not fresh at all. Over the past few years, I've watched this place slide from a charming, quality-driven Italian spot to what now feels like a rushed, overhyped fast-dining experience with fine-dining prices. The service has lost its warmth, and the food has lost its integrity. If you're looking for a real Italian experience, I highly recommend Terún Pizza instead--better parking, friendlier service, and most importantly, consistently excellent food. Sadly, neither the food nor the service seemed like the typical experience you'd expect from a Michelin starred restaurant. They have indoor and outdoor seating in case you'd want the choice. We got the fettuccine wild boar, good flavor, but nothing exceptional. I should have probably gone with their pizza offerings. My friend got the eggplant lasagna and said it tasted good. Service was pleasant, but no mention of the specials or any recommendations; maybe they have a bunch of regular patrons who don't need to hear of these. Oh well! Food arrived quickly and they were prompt in clearing our table as well. No mention or question if we'd like any dessert. Dinner for two friends on a Saturday evening around 6PM. When we arrived, the host informed us that there was no wait for two at the bar so we took the seats. we were nestled up in a corner so it felt very private, probably better than dining on the main floor. The place itself was packed (and I was happy to see that!). I've dined at the San Carlos location several times, but this was the first time trying Mountain View. I'd say overall I prefer the San Carlos location - it's brighter and a bit more aesthetically pleasing (clean simple decor, lots of white), and I had better food experiences there. There were two bartenders, and both of them were very attentive to us. Neither of us were ordering alcohol, and that did not change how we were treated at the bar. Our food came incredibly fast, and service was five stars. Food was just okay (again, for this location). We ordered Brussels Sprouts ($16!!), the Vesuvio pizza and Tartufo dessert. In the future I'd pass on all three of these. The brussels sprouts were pretty good, but when I went to pay the check, I was shocked that they were $16. I didn't notice the price when we ordered and for $16, I would've rather paid the difference and ordered second pizza ($19-25) or another small hearty plate. The Vesuvio pizza flavors were ok. I found the cured pork was baked which dried it out almost to a jerky texture. A good problem to have, there was a TON of burrata cheese (making it heavy, and wet). Unfortunately our pizza did not arrive hot but came very fast. It almost seemed like that pizza was maybe made for another table in error so they rerouted it to us; it actually arrived before the brussels sprouts. When I've done in the San Carlos location, the pizzas always come out super hot from the brick oven. The dough is consistently 5 stars, however. I kept dipping it into all the leftover pizza juices on my plate. TIP: I highly recommend asking for the chili oil to glaze over your pizza (a hack a learned a couple years ago any time I'm having wood/brick oven pizza). I prefer other pizzas like the Diavola, La Carne, Siciliana, Fungo or Doppio Zero. Finally, dessert. When it arrived, it was definitely not what we expected based on the menu description. Basically, the tartufo is a hazelnut gelato ball with a chocolate fudge core covered in a little bit of praline and meringue crumbs. Tasted really good but was not anything too special. I would've loved to seen it reconstructed so that the gelato was atop a meringue based topped with praline caramel glaze. Looking for a place for dinner for a party of 6 (two kiddos). There was so initial confusion as some guy told my husband he will help him and then never returned. I then went in and placed my name down with the hostess. The hostess was good and took my number - she quoted us 20-30mins but I got a text after 10 minutes. We were given a high top table with tall chairs - it was actually pretty tight. Nectarine salad - very refreshing and we were able to share amongst the 4 adults. We ordered the Fettucine Wild Boar pasta and Doppio Zero pizza. Both dishes came out within 10 minutes, and the portion sizes were filling for us both. The Doppio Zero pizza was more flavorful for me with its delicious prosciutto and burrata cheese, but the Fettucine Wild Boar pasta was a more comforting dish that I believe I could eat more of. The bar tenders were very sweet in taking our orders and handed us everything in a promptly manner. The location of this restaurant is also in a prime location in Mountain View, so it is quite nice walking around the area before and after dinner. This is a great neopolitan style pizza place. The pizza is good. However, I'm more of a pedestrian style eater and really wish they had a pepperoni pizza and a normal cheese. They do have a white pizza selection as well. As dave portion of barstool sports would say, the under carriage of thee pizzas don't hold up. I also came by for coffee and desserts but it wasn't memorable. This time, I had one of the best margherita pizzas. This one had the right crust, so much flavor in the sauce and I loved the cheese. My kids prefer sausage and meat pizza so we'll have to order that next time. My son enjoyed his Berkshire pork, potatoes and green vegetable. He said it all came together. They added a special cheese to the mash and it was fantastic. The greens were good too. My son would order this again. My daughter said the fettuccine was her favorite. It did have a very good flavor and there was a bite to the fettuccine. It's very hard to mess up calamari. This one had the tiny legs. I like them better than the rings. I'm still looking for the best calamari. Scott's had the best but they got rid of their lemon and garlic sauce. We also ordered the gnocchi. It was very good with the different flavors. Dessert was panna cotta with a berries compote/sauce on top - Good. This is not your old school Italian. It's not like any restaurants I went to in 1990's in Italy. It's more modern and new. I liked all the flavors in the different dishes here. Four stars - Servers were nice and polite and everyone helps at all the tables. No complaints there but they are just a little off. This is my second time here at Doppio Zero in the last year which serves up classic Neapolitan style pizzas. I sat myself at the bar and started out with a salad, called the Little Gem - marinated anchovies, watermelon radish shaved parmesan cheese, croutons, avocado dressing. It was excellent. I chased it down with a Vesuvio pizza which includes the following toppings - Yellow tomato sauce, fior di latte mozzarella, capocollo (Cured Pork), burrata cheese, shaved parmigiano Reggiano. Bar service was excellent. It's a little noisy, but that's to be expected in a lively pizzeria. The open kitchen provides a view of the Pizzaristas prepping and monitoring the black mosaic stone with white lettering "Doppio Zero" wood fired oven. Protip: happy hour is a good value here! I wanted to try Doppio Zero after taking a Neapolitan pizza class. The 6" pizza offered on happy hr is a perfect size for one person. The pizza is very traditional, prepared to the stringent standards of the Neapolitan style, made with classic italian ingredients, baked in a wood fire oven. The center of the pizza is thin, the sides are puffed, flecked with air bubbles and nice char. My Margherita pizza was good, balanced with the right tastes of San Mariano tomato and fresh mozzarella, especially flavorful with a dusting of Parmesan and chili flakes. My only quibble with the pizza was it was a little wet and soft in the center. I would have preferred it cooked a tad longer for a crispier crust. Gnocchi was a comforting treat, simple and professional, very tasty cream sauce and pasta flavor. The gnocchi were more potatoey, less pillowy, than I'm used to getting in high end restaurants, but I liked them. Olives were fine, served room temperature. Recommend to warm them. This restaurant gives a professional, polished vibe. Kind of corporate. Which is fun sometimes! It's not the best Italian food in the area, but it's a good, basic, reliable treat when you're craving pizza or a fun time out on Castro St. read more

Great place for groups and they were very good about refilling my water. I don't know about you but consistent water refill is usually a mark of good service. Besides that I really enjoyed my ravioli. The creamy sauce was delicious and I had my boyfriend dip his broccolini into it so he could enjoy the deliciousness as well. Cheers! read more

One of the best pizza spots I've been hearing a lot about Doppio Zero and I'm so glad I was finally able to try it. I got the Formaggi and it was delicious. The service was good and the food came out fast. The have indoor seating, outdoor seating and bar seating. Will definitely give this place another try when I come back into town. read more

My friends and I have been on a quest to try all of the certified Neopolitan pizza places (this restaurant is a member of an association in Napoli) in the Bay Area. We've tried Terun, Napoletana Pizzeria and now Doppio Zero. In my opinion, Doppio Zero was the best all around. Their fig pizza was tasty. We shared truffle fries and the spinach ravioli. My favorite was the ravioli but honestly the pizza was very good as well. My friends ordered drinks and seemed to enjoy them. We had reservations for outside dining since it's summertime. Inside is pretty noisy and packed so I would recommend booking outside seating. What they don't tell you when you sit is that they don't give you printed menus. We didn't realize this as there was a small sign for a QR code but our waiter never said that and we were waiting for the menu. Our waiter was friendly and the service was fast. You also know it's legitimate when you hear people speaking in Italian. Make sure you get Open Table reservations online as downtown Mountain View is busy. We went on a Thursday night. Not a knock on the restaurant but parking was hard to find. I gave up looking at the public lots closer to downtown and I parked on the street at Villa and Franklin. Liked the Pulcinella (no Eggplant) again! (Note to Self: Ask for extra pesto next time) Did not like the Rapini Pizza (White sauce). Both pizzas were very soggy in the middle (not sure if that's how they are supposed to be). read more
