For the main dish, I got the Penne con Pollo. The dish was a bit bland in my opinion and was not really memorable. My dish was one of the last ones to come out and before it came out, a server had come around with a bowl of parmesan, offering it to those who already got my order. However, since I got my dish after, I never got the chance to ask for parmesan. For dessert, I got a slice of tiramisu, which I also thought was okay. There was uneven amounts of lady fingers (took a photo of the better side but the opposite side was mainly just cream). Probably could use a bit more dusting of cocoa powder as well. My real issue is we were given a bread basket of focaccia and then found on the bill a $2.95 bread charge. Please don't give us bread we didn't ask for if there's a charge for it. They were singing songs for different tables including a birthday song. They sang us a song before we left. We ordered a variety of things including tiramisu, linguini azzuro pasta, and penne con pollo. Their tiramisu is made from scratch which makes it unique - also one of the best tiramisu I've had. Vaso Azzurro was our selection for an anniversary dinner. It always has such a cozy ambiance. It feels like going to your neighborhood Italian restaurant where everyone knows you, and you are teleported to Europe. Staff is so friendly. Always lovely to see chef/owner at the door, and at our visit the bartender was in such a good mood too. He was tending to all guests, making jokes and making everyone feel at home. We were courageous and tried pizza this time. While it gave home pizza vibes, we will for sure stick with their pasta dishes next time. We came here for a birthday dinner and told them so in the reservation but no mention of it or any special treat(ment) :-) for it. I think they must have changed ownership since we last came. Menu now has Mediterranean dishes as well as traditional Italian. I had the chicken parmigiana which came with spaghetti and veggies. It was good but nothing special and a bit pricey at $26. Service was marginal. They forgot the wine we ordered and really staff there just did the minimum of taking our order. They used to have live music here but not sure if they do anymore. I ordered a salad that came without the ingredient it was supposed to and had added ingredients. It saddens me to downgrade this review, but I was really hurt by my last experience at this restaurant. My husband and I were comjng here for lunch, and the place was packed. We weren't sure if there was going to be a table, but the owner (or one of the owners) greeted us, grabbed a couple of menus, and asked us to follow him. A few seconds later, he turned back to us and said, "Did you read the sign?" Confused, we looked over to the front and saw that the restaurant was closed for an event. We normally enter through the back because it's closest to the parking garage, so we completely missed it. We apologized, and the owner "smiled" at us and put back the menus. What was an honest mistake turned out to be a very hurtful experience. He didn't have to make a show of it by greeting us and pretending to show us to a table. He could have just been professional and said, "Hi guys. Unfortunately, we're closed today for an event." The salmon, as with most places, was overcooked--not a fan. Their menu is very cream based, e.g. though true carbonara does not call for cream, their version has it. We had to hunt down the few items that were sans cream. The great thing is they were open to modifications and substitutions, which goes a long way in my book.
