I came here to get a meal in this Los Altos neighborhood and I came across this American restaurant bar. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. There seemed to have enough patrons during the weekday lunch period from local workers looking for a business lunch and I also saw two families with kids. The restaurant had one server for all of the people, he had his hands full. There is a full bar and extensive wines and liquors to choose from, if you feel like a mid-day drink. There are five booths for 4 people, two tables for six, three tall tables for two, one tall table for four, and some tables for outdoor dining. The restaurant has easy listening music. It's a good place for a relaxing meal during your day. The menu is attached, with lunch specials. There is also a parking lot located behind the restaurant and available street parking in front. I would be comfortable coming here again with a few friends to socialize. The poki bowl was quite good, it hit the spot for me. Good food and fun for a large group. We were so big we needed to sections of tables, that was maybe the only bummer (not one long one) but it still worked. Service for drinks was a bit slow but we were also a huge group so I'm trying not to fault that too much. I just wonder how much prep is done when they know ahead of time about large groups. I'm not from around here but prices seemed a bit high for what you get. If you're looking for a casual but cool and yummy place for dinner, bring your work friends and everyone should be able to find something on the menu they like. read more

Stopped here for an early lunch with a friend and had a very enjoyable meal. I got the chicken sliders with fries and she got a burger. Her meal looked good, no major complaints! My sliders were very good! They're listed as made in house and it seems like it. Lots of flavor and they fit the little rolls well. The fries were fine but not my preferred type of fries. These were standard size leaning towards steak fry texture. I like a thinner and crispier fry but no luck here. I also got a cocktail, it was like an apple ginger beer with cinnamon drink. I ordered it expecting a little kick/spice but it was pretty tame and tasted kind of watered down. So that's really the only complaint. We came here yesterday before the Los Altos parade show. We didn't have a reservation but they seated us right away and our server was really nice, so no complaints there. But honestly, the prices made no sense for what we got. We were two adults and two kids, and for one empanada appetizer, two kids' chicken strips, one hamburger, one chicken sandwich and two beers, the bill came out to $162 -- because they added a 25% automatic gratuity. I know some Bay Area restaurants do this, but this place is not in that category. It felt more like a casual bar with TVs on and the news playing, not somewhere you'd expect a mandatory 25% tip. Food-wise, nothing special. The kids' meals were tiny -- even our kids commented on how small they were. My hamburger was pretty flavorless; I didn't even finish half of it. Empanadas were standard. The only thing anyone actually liked was the chicken sandwich my friend ordered. I really like this place! It's right across the street from my taiko lesson spot. They had plenty of seating and were able to accommodate our group of ten easily. The server was super nice and attentive. I love bolognese, so of course I had to get it -- it was delicious! I just wish they had offered to add some fresh cheese on top like other places do. Sitting around trying to decide on dinner, knowing I'm heading downtown, I thought I would order a salad on the way. I realize it's been years since I've been to the Post. So I called in a simple Cobb salad--nothing fancy. I show up, the guy hands me the card reader, charges my card, then immediately shoves the tip screen in my face as he grades my generosity real time. (FYI, I'm an over tipper) I asked him, hold on, this salad was $32? He says, "Well, not exactly... there's tax." Wow. Thank you, Einstein. Truly groundbreaking. Now because he's standing there holding the device like a hostage negotiator, I feel obligated to hit the highest tip option. Fine. Whatever. Just give me my overpriced lettuce. I walk out, check the actual menu, and see the Cobb salad is $26.50. So not only do they mark it up for call-in orders (+$3 US DOLLARS), but they basically trap you into a 20% guilt tip on top. And the salad? Mid. Extremely mid. (See picture.) So yes, I just paid $38 for a Cobb salad that tasted like it was assembled by someone who hates both salads and humanity. Meanwhile, literally down the street, every salad is under ten bucks and actually good. Came here on Valentine's Day for sort of a last minute dinner after we decided to go out to eat. We were able to get a reservation pretty last minute so that was appreciated. The restaurant itself was nice, though it was really drafty so we were both pretty cold. Our food was really good, we shared Brussels sprouts and I had one of the February specials - a chicken pesto panini - and my boyfriend has the crispy chicken sandwich. Both were cooked really well and had a nice mix of flavors. Our service was just okay, and I know it was Valentine's Day, but it took awhile for our server to come over when the section that we were seated in was fairly empty. I inquired about the egg and requested a soft boil as stated on the menu. I waited 20" and 2 follow up requests to receive 2 poached eggs unseasoned in a bowl. Very bland and unsatisfying. What a neighborhood gem. The outside seating is great but if you want to watch the big game there are no shortage of tvs. Nice long bar and bottomless mimosa brunch. We made reservations for our sports team and parents and rolled in with 28 people between games. We called ahead and spoke to the owner Vickie, who was so generous and helpful in accommodating our team. She had some appetizers platters ready for us upon arrival and the staff was really helpful. The menu had everything from avocado toast and salads to pasta and burgers. We had the pulled pork sandwich, pasta and ahi tuna stack. All the plates went back clean! Really fresh and healthy choices but also lots of comfort food like Mac and cheese and wings. There is literally something for everyone. They have plenty of dining space and we had our own room in the back for all our tables so it would be a great venue to host a shower or special occasion birthday party. I was here for a company holiday lunch! My second year of enjoying eating out with the whole office staff. It was all of our first time eating here. I will say I wish I took better pictures of the food and the restaurant. I didn't have good lighting and rushed to take pics before we demolished the food LOL. So I only have pictures of the menu. Location is convenient because it was only a few minutes away from the workplace and at the start of Main Street. Parking can be a hit or miss, the parking lots and street parking can get filled pretty quickly. The restaurant alone is beautiful, and you can tell they put in a lot of work to decorate for Christmas and the month of December. There is a centered bar top and flat screen tvs throughout, so I can imagine it gets lively here for sports game days. Our group was seated towards the back, looked like a community table which worked out fine. They offer a seasonal lunch menu, drinks/cocktails menu, and a happy hour menu. Note: The (v) on the menu is for vegetarian not vegan. I wish I knew beforehand, because the appetizers made my stomach bubbly later on due to my lactose intolerance. If we didn't have work right after, I would definitely have tried a cocktail or a nice wine. Cute place for a birthday lunch! I met a friend and loved the decor inside and had outdoor dining. Comfort food with tons of options of Chicken and Waffles, Burgers, Fries, etc. I ordered the Bacon and Ham Quiche with a side salad. It was so good with buttery crust with tons of veggies and ham on a pomodoro sauce. My friend got the Croque Monsieur with a fried egg on top with melted cheese and savory ham. We've been coming here a lot over the last few years, but looks like the food quality is going downhill. We've been very forgiving for a while, about the ridiculously tiny dry burger, the always overcooked salmon, the blend omelets, and charging additional $2 for replacing the too greasy fries with a tiny side salad, but we were so disappointed with our last visit, that we won't be coming back here anymore. No reason to stick with the place just because we're used to go there. One star for everything that has to do with the food (nice presentations and kind service, though). Weekend brunch spot! Really easy to make reservations online and with enough patience you'll find a parking spot. This corner restaurant is a hidden gem, for brunch specifically. They have Veuve champagne specials and bottomless mimosas in many flavors. We shared a few items and had a wonderful Sunday afternoon. The server we had was so incredibly patient and sweet! Disappointing Brunch Experience I visited The Post this past Sunday to catch the Niners game and have brunch with a friend. Both of us were pretty hungry since we hadn't had breakfast, and The Post seemed like a good choice because they were showing the game, and the food looked great online. Unfortunately, our experience didn't live up to expectations. When we arrived, it was unclear how seating worked, and after waiting around for a bit, we had to go inside to ask. Once we were finally greeted, the server was friendly and told us to choose any seat. We opted to sit outside since the bar was full, but the tables were dirty. We asked the server to clean one for us, which he did promptly, and we let him know we wanted to order right away since we were starving. I ordered the The Post Brunch Burger, which according to the menu, comes with a fried egg, crispy bacon, and cheddar cheese. The server asked me what cheese I wanted, and though I thought cheddar was the default, I went ahead and said cheddar again. I also asked for tater tots instead of fries, and requested no onions, with the burger cooked medium. My friend ordered a Paloma after being told they were out of High Noon, along with the Salmon BLT. The first problem arose when my food came out with regular fries instead of tater tots. No big deal--I let the server know, and he took them back with an apology. But then I opened my burger, and despite requesting no onions, there they were. I could live with that, but when I cut into the burger, it was cooked well done instead of medium, making it inedible for me. I sent it back again. My friends fries were cold and looked old but she was so hungry she just dealt wit it. At this point, I didn't have a burger or fries, so I ate the fries when they came while waiting for my corrected order. Finally, the server brought me a new burger, apologizing for the wait and mentioning he'd speak to his manager about the issues. But then I noticed it wasn't even the The Post Brunch Burger I had ordered--just a regular burger. At this point, I was too hungry to send it back again. The burger was cooked medium-well, but honestly, it was mediocre at best. When the bill came, I was charged for a regular burger with $2 extra for cheese and $2 for the tots, making it $25, just $1 less than The Post Brunch Burger, which would have had the bacon and egg. Fine, I thought--at least they didn't charge me for the wrong burger. But I noticed no adjustments were made for all the mistakes. When I asked the server about it, he assured me he had "taken care of it," though nothing was reflected on the bill. It was confusing and frustrating, and at that point, I just paid the $34 with tip and decided I wouldn't be coming back. Overall, The Post seems like it has potential, but the service and attention to detail are seriously lacking. Between the mix-ups with my order and the poor communication about the bill, it was not worth the money. There are plenty of better places to brunch and watch the game--I won't be back. read more

The Post is hands-down one of my favorite spots in Los Altos. It's got a great mix of good energy and people who actually care. The menu and drinks keep changing so it never feels stale. The staff knows their regulars by name... they'll remember what you like to eat or pour your drink before you even ask. The food is really good (menu changes frequently), but I especially like the Post Burger, Blackened Salmon, Cheesesteak. The vibe's always on point too. Great place to watch football and hang with your friends. I live here so its always fun running into folks from around town. We come here all the time (for dinner) and today was the first time I went there with my younger son (7 yrs old) who loves the adult Post Burger and it was a treat. We are the following: - Lobster Bisque: It was fantastic but missed a little crunch on the side but great opener - Post Burger with cheese and bacon and fries: The fries were NOT over done and were a perfect balance between crispy ones and soft ones (my son likes crispy ones and I like the soft). The cheese was so tasty and the beef patty was juicy!! - Cobb Salad with Shrimp and Chicken (the latter were extra): The Cobb is great and well priced but when you add the chicken and the shrimp the price triples because it is a side of each. If you are price conscious maybe check which extras you really want (they charged me $10 for the chicken and $11 for the shrimp, fyi the Cobb was $13 originally). It was very tasty! All in all this place continues to be my family's favorite. I wish they bring the Gumbo back because that is my favorite. As an addition, I got to meet Vicky (sp?) and Patrick (the husband wife team behind this restaurant) and they were super warm and nice people. You can tell they love what they do and they love their patrons. You should meet them if they are there. read more

BINGO Sunday at the Post is my new favorite thing! Usually, I hate to leak a great secret, but in this case, the more, the merrier!! It's a blast with friends for a girls' night out, a fun solo outing to meet new people, and my kids love it too! I appreciate that it's not super loud and the games are usually run on the hour (I think) so it makes it an entertaining, low-key activity that isn't too invasive if you just want to have dinner and not participate. There is always something new and seasonal on the menu. My current favs are the Dunken Shrimp (although I would literally dip that heavenly garlic bread in motor oil and probably still enjoy it) and the new tri-tip sandwich is fabulous! They start BINGO at 5 so you can still catch an hour of the happy hour menu which is a huge bonus. There are usually interesting wines and rotating cocktails on the happy hour menu, so even "regulars" aren't bored. Lots of seating and space for big groups, etc. I came here yesterday with my family and ordered a bunch of items. I thought their Brussels sprouts were delicious but the beets hummus and fries were just ok; they're small in portion and very plain. My salmon Benedict was slightly messy and very tiny with just maybe 6-7 pieces of country potatoes. Their chicken and waffles was decent but only 2 small pieces of chicken?? It didn't even come with butter either, just the gravy and maple syrup. Their service needs to be better with checking in and making sure our drinks were refilled. They only came once to check on us, they didn't ask if we needed ketchup, they only refilled our water carafe just once; it was bad. Maybe it's better to sit closer at the main front area for more attention? Other than that, there's plenty of better breakfast/brunch places in the area to eat at. read more

The Post is a nice spot in downtown Los Altos that combines good food and wonderful nightlife into a one-stop experience. The food is very good. The staff is amazing. The menu is diverse. This spot is best visited with friends, coworkers or family. It's a place to share in an almost festive restaurant environment. The outdoor seating is well-lit and heated -- which is great for our local Bay Area weather year-round. The salmon carbonara is incredible too! Overall, this is a nice spot that can is casual and "fancy" at the same time. It's actually a great value for the price (and area) too. My daughter had such a great time at the Los Altos Farmers Market that we decided to bring her back for a 2nd week in a row. Since we were already making the drive out here, we decided to enjoy dinner @ The Post since it is within walking distance of one another. Reservations for 4 adults, 1 toddler was made in advanced and dining indoor or outdoor is available. Reservations are recommended since the interior seemed extremely small from my quick glance during check-in and outdoor seating seemed to be more of the popular option of the two. Table was reserved off to the side of the entrance, right up against the building [essentially on the sidewalk]. Menus & dinnerware was quickly provided once we let the host know of our arrival. Dinner: -Slider Trio [Summer Special] -Grilled Artichokes -Filet Mignon Steak [served with rainbow carrots & garlic fries] -Pan Seared Skin-On Sea Bass [served with butternut squash purée, asparagus, & purp cauliflower] -Caesar Salad [+$$ for added beets] -Pasta Bolognese Food was pretty good but the sliders and the butternut squash purée was not. We came here late morning hoping to grab some espresso/lattes with brunch. While we learned they don't serve any specialty coffee drinks (only drip) we still stayed. Made a reso for 6 a few days prior and when we arrived, we had the option to sit indoors or outdoors. Just a short wait as the buser was cleaning our table. Our server recommended a few dishes to us and was super attentive when we needed service. Creme brûlée French toast -- appreciate how attentive and careful they are when it comes to allergies. My friend couldn't eat gluten and they made it a point to ensure there wasn't any gluten in the dish. Our server, Adriana was nice, but she could have checked up on us more often.. only there to take our order, drop off food, and pay for the bill. Come here for the food but stay because you have to wait on the waiter/waitress. Without a doubt, the food here is pretty stellar! We ordered calamari and cauliflower nuggets as our starters. The calamari was big and juicy, it was definitely on par with seafood restaurants you'd find in SF or coastal cities. Highly recommend! I also ordered the fish and chips for main dish and hands down it was the best fried fish I've had in a long time. The crunch on the outside was definitely overshadowed by my "hmmmmmm" once I bit down on the juicy inside. Another highly recommend dish. The unfortunate 3 stars all came down to the service. For context, this was a Saturday brunch, which is expected to be on the busier end and I totally understand that! The server took about 25 mins before he gave us water and another 15 mins to take our order. We actually have to wave him down so that we can eat and leave at a reasonable time. Low key feels like this restaurant is understaffed. All in all, 5 star for the food, 2 star for the service because it took so dang slow. Highly recommend to give this place a try during a off-peak hour so you are not waiting around for a long time! read more

Celebrated Mother's Day for dinner here and I'm so happy the kids picked this place. It was a warm, inviting and bustling place that was open and friendly. We sat at a high top which was fun and the service was a bit of mix review... Our waiter was just okay - did the basics and he disappeared at the end and we had to flag someone else to get boxes for our leftovers. And the person we flagged was friendly and kept coming back to help us so that was nice. AND there was a woman who would come around to check on us and took our meal order. She was AWESOME - so warm and inviting. Friendly. I felt so welcomed! Ok so food... we started with the beet hummus, grilled artichokes and poached pear salad. The grilled artichokes were a special which was a bit hard to share. Also I expected more of a "grill" where it's a bit crispy. Some parts weren't cooked all the way but all good - youngest will bring home to heat up and finish up. The star for us was that poached pear salad and beet hummus!! That pear salad was PACKED with so much flavor and huge bits of pear... The balance was SO good - we were fighting for the last bites! LOL... and the beet hummus - GENUIS. Whoever came up with that is total genius. Not only was the beet hummus delicious with the right amount of beet flavor but hummus texture - but the accompaniments were fresh and on point! Definitely a dish I would get again EVERYTIME I come back :) For our main meals, we had a few of the special grilled sea bass, along with the lentil mushroom pasta and hubby wanted to try the Cioppino. OMG that Cioppino!! WHAT a surprise. I have to say the flavor profile and freshness of the seafood... this was SO FLAVORFUL - better than at some of the fish places we get from Moss Landing, Monterey and SF!! YES... That DELICIOUS. You can REALLY taste the seafood in the broth and it wasn't over "tomatoey". Great choice hubby!! The lentil mushroom pasta was also delicious! WOW - so much flavor and great texture. Pasta cooked perfectly with a bit of al dente but the lentil and mushroom mixture - so GOOD... The grilled sea bass was good but I think the other dishes were better. It needed some "sauce". The fish was grilled perfectly, was tender but lacked some flavor. It was an okay dish. I may have hyped it up in my mind when I ordered LOL... We were SO STUFFED that we couldn't order dessert. I can see this as one of our "go tos" and can't wait to go back and try their brunch and have dinner here again. What a GREAT place to celebrate Mother's Day!! read more
