    Blueberry Pancake

Came here for breakfast on the Friday after Thanksgiving and really enjoyed it. It's a nice large space with lots of booths. The coffee was good - they give you a pot and it stays really hot! The blueberry pancakes were fluffy and the Denver omelet was good enough! Not too cheesy, not too salty. The whole meal was really affordable and the service was lovely. Would definitely come back.

2/14/2024 Rick's Cafe 205 State St Los Altos, CA 94022 We ended up here for lunch since the place across the street had a 15 minute wait. It has a spacious clean setup with real furniture. Service was prompt, even after our order taker left at his shift change. The menu is mainly breakfast all day with some sandwiches and burgers. Wifey had the Hungry Rick with special ordered Blueberry pancakes and I had the Country Fried Steak special. Both were okay with good size portions. The signature item is that they feature toasted bagels instead of bread with their offerings. Value was okay but there are other similar DTLA places I prefer, so probably no repeat.

Food here is not very good. Food did not seem fresh here. I ordered 2 eggs with hash browns and hot links.. hot links looked they took it out of a pack you can buy at Wal Mart. Hash brown tasted frozen. Instead of toast they gave me a bagel which was not fresh at all. Would not recommend. waste of time and money.

We called to see if we needed a reservation, they took my information, but when we arrived they did not have my name written anywhere! So, they tried to seat us in this back room, which looked like the back to the alley. Not pretty to seat. The host seemed a bit lost and difficult to understand so, a really kind waitress decided to seat us in a reserved booth as there were more to open to meet that reservation. My husband's egg Louis cayenne, which is crab cake Benedict order, was bland, savorless. My huevos rancheros were blah. It contains chicken, pretty odd protein choice and unfortunately with bo flavor at all. It is a loud ambiance and not that crowded for a Saturday morning. I did like the lighting and the booth seats are comfy. Will we come again? NO, says the husband who didn't drink his burnt flavored vanilla latte.

Quick check in on Rick's Cafe. Stopped by with a couple out of town visitors and like always great food with good service. Great variety of choices for those with me. Had the bacon and cheese omelette and it did not disappoint. Some ordered the Latte and it came out perfect. Sat outside this time and weather was perfect Give them a try

Breakfast is awesome here. The menu is filled with so many choices, it made it difficult for us to decide. My guests ordered omelettes, skillets, and pancakes. The breakfast items are fantastic. The blueberry pancakes were the fluffiest pancakes I had ever seen. It was a large stack of three pancakes filled with abundance of blueberries with a side of blueberry sauce. The omelettes and skillets were awesome. The side of bacon came with four slices of bacon but the taste was a little flat (I like my bacon more crispy). I ordered the "philly steak" with french fries and salad. Unfortunately, their version of the philly cheesesteak probably needs a little help (I'm originally from the east coast and am familiar with the genuine Philly cheesesteaks). The salad was a little disappointing, but the vinaigrette was delicious. The french fries were crispy and good. I ordered a guava mimosa. It was a little on the sweet side for me, but overall not bad. The service was quick and attentive. Overall, I would come back for breakfast again. There is street parking and small lots in the neighborhood. There is also outdoor seating if you prefer. Vegetarian options: One of our guests in our party is vegetarian and there were plenty of selections that met his needs. Kid-friendliness: Family-friendly.

I had a very good brunch in this neat, cozy American cafe at Downtown Los Altos. This is the first time in awhile that I finished my plate because everything in it was good. I ordered the Fruity French Toast and it was perfect, the way I would have wanted it to be. Shared this with friends and they liked it too. I would totally recommend this plate. For my main plate I ordered the Greek Omelet and requested mushroom in it. The omelet was cooked nicely, more on the lightly seasoned side (my personal preference). The hash browns were also good. I usually don't eat them when I have toasts or other carbs. But for the first time I finished mine. Also ordered the guava mimosa ($6) and it was a nice change to the usual orange. Small glass, light on the champagne, just enough to give you a nice "boost" during the day. Tried some of my friends food and they were all good. Maybe the least interesting one will be the grilled salmon and spinach crepe, have the omelette instead. The Blueberry pancake was enjoyable, right thickness and fluff. The price is reasonable given the location, the ambiance and the taste as well. Would love to go back here again.

The vibe is fab place for breakfast especially on the weekend! Omar warmly greeted us and took our order. He's great! Super attentive! Made sure our breakfast went great! Of course, thanks as well to the team behind him who deftly helped at each touchpoint of our meal! The veg crepe was splendid! The fruit crepe was perfect! The Bacado Omelet was hearty and tasty! And the Italian Scramble that Omar recommended was right on! Delicious! What a great way to start Saturday! Would order everything again! Hoorah!

Don't come here if you want to eat Chicken and Waffles, you will get a kid's size version of chicken strips and a waffle, we were shocked when the plate came out. Definitely I will never come back.

Jossey bread and whipped butter - it was as if they took burnt bread and microwaved it in a hot towel. Not crispy, overly chewy/rubbery. Fried chicken sliders- great texture on the fried chicken, but the bun was so dry and crumbly. Poke tostados- best thing we ordered, but not enough fish and a lot more filler. Pork tacos - so dry, we couldn't eat it. Shrimp tacos - tiny powdery shrimp. The tortillas were super thick. Old Smokey - it said brown butter, but I couldn't get any hints of that. Even with a baby in tow, the staff was super friendly and accommodating, bringing hot water super quickly for warming a bottle and carefully selecting seating that accommodated our stroller. The menu is relatively small, but also very diverse with a variety of protein options and some vegetarian selections. Since it's served tapas/family style, you get to try a ton of the menu. Everything we had was delicious and very balanced. Even with a super low spice tolerance, the heat in all the dishes was not just tolerable, but even delicious. I think the dish I'd most recommend is the pork shank. Everything about it was super surprising and incredibly delicious. It literally fell off the bone and had a ton of texture with a melty, tender inside and a sticky, crunchy exterior. I would eat just this for a whole meal! Despite my own dislike for goat, even the goat empanadas were good and managed to convince me I don't actually hate all goat meat! Much like the menu, the ambiance is perfectly balanced, perfect for a romantic date night, a business meeting and even for a friend/family dinner. I'd highly recommend Valley Goat for anyone, for any occasion.

Yesterday we were celebrating my husband's birthday at Valley Goat, right from the get-go, the service seemed off. I called in the evening to check what time would last call be at. Our reservation was at 9:30pm and we wanted to make sure all our guests are able to order in time. The person on call first mentioned 9:30 which was odd because when I checked they were taking reservations for 9:45pm as well so I was like?? Anyway, hearing that I moved our reservation for 9pm since the whole party was coming to the restaurant after work on a weekday. We were running late and called the restaurant to inform them we were reaching by 9:15pm Exactly at 9:15 pm we get a rude call from the host asking us to confirm the EXACT time(to which we said we were right around the corner and would be there in 2min) and that the goat empanadas we specifically requested for may be gone in the next two minutes and that the restaurant shuts at 10pm and we would have to stop dining by then. Which was strange because what about the 9:45 pm reservations? You kick those people out in 15 min? Anyway there is NO acknowledgement of my husband's birthday the whole night, no free dessert not even a candle on the dessert. The server is in a hurry to take away our plates while we are working on them. The server was also not warm. By far, the WORST experience at this high end restaurant we have experienced. I'm not sure if the management and staff have changed but this is not how disappointing I expected my husband's birthday to be. If you do not want to serve customers late in the night maybe don't take reservations past 8:30pm? I understand staff wants to go home but it is their responsibility to take care of their customers and honor late reservations just the way they honor any other reservations. I highly doubt we will be coming back.

It's pretty nice for a night out with friends/family or a date night. I had never been to this restaurant so I was expecting typical basic American food. BOY was I wrong. Eureka! I ended up going with the Wagyu Bone Marrow Burger with the Truffle Cheese Fries and Crispy Glazed Brussels Sprouts. I am definitely a texture person, so I thought that the burger would be too soft for my liking but I decided to try it anyway. Wow. Let me tell you, that burger was the juiciest burger I have EVER had in my life. I tried my best to finish it all but it was honestly too much and I had to sadly leave some behind. The fries were nothing too crazy to rave about. Yes they tasted like truffle but I wish they would of been tossed in truffle oil and had the cheese sauce on it. It needed more truffle for my liking. The Brussels sprouts. Let me tell you, they were the only thing to fully be devoured from my order at the end of my meal. They were perfectly balanced in every way: charred/crispy, salty, savory. Wow. Just wow. I would go back just for those alone. I did order a whiskey sour which was super deliciously creamy. My server was super sweet and gave great ideas for how to customize my burger a bit the next time I come back. Overall my first experience with Eureka! The restaurant was very pretty, with a sleek and floral theme. Also, I noticed some herby smell which was pleasant so extra hats off to that detail. I placed a reservation of 5 at 7:45 pm on a Friday night with me and my family, and we had no issues getting to our table. We were a bit late, however staff made sure that we get seated in no time. Once we got sat down, we got our menus and took some time to decide what to order. Our amazing friend and waitress Elizabeth made sure to give us time to thoroughly look through the menu and decide on what we were going to eat. She was very friendly and caring, and was so excited to take our order, which elevated her experience. Her suggestions were perfect for our family. We ordered the Mixto Clásico ceviche, 2 orders of truffle mac and cheese, Arroz Con Mariscos, Pollo A La Brasa (Half chicken), Beef Anticuchero Roll, and Lengua a La Parilla. In five minutes, the staff already brought the ceviche, which included calamari, fish, veggies, and the taro chips. It was refreshing and citrusy. After we finished that , then another 3 minutes goes by, and everything arrived. I was so shocked on how fast they serve especially because of how busy they were. All the dishes were so fresh and cooked to perfection. The mac was so creamy, cheesy, and delectable especially because of the truffles. The pollo a la brasa was cooked nice and tender, served with fries, and that yellow sauce was addicting, literally ON CRACK. The lengua was great, the mashed potatoes along with the lengua, shrimp, and spicy sauce gave it texture and flavor. The nikkei beef antichchuero roll I was surprised with. Sushi in a Peruvian restaurant? However, I did not expect to be one of the best and interesting rolls I have tried ever. The arroz con mariscos was my favorite by far. It really reminds me of a Spanish paella, with a seafood galore presented with a bed of rice and veggies. It was very filling and delicious. Of course, we couldn't just end there, we obviously had to go for dessert. We chose the Tres Leches cake, and it was presented with chocolate, caramel, and strawberry sauce which was sweet and smooth. Paired with the cake, it was so good and a genius combination. In the end, when leaving, our staff asked us if we needed any extra help with anything before we left, which was a very kind gesture. When we left, the staff kindly greeted us a warm goodbye, and thanked Elizabeth especially for helping us order these great assortments of dishes. In the end, we left with our stomachs full of food and great memories. I am already looking forward to my next visit here, and please, give this Peruvian spot a try, because you will never go back to any other ones besides this spot.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience deserves to be shared because it involves food…read moreallergy safety based on my visit to this restaurant in early June. I have a severe tree nut allergy. Before ordering, I informed our server of my allergy and asked him to identify every dish that contained nuts so I could safely participate in our family-style business dinner. He assured me he would take care of it and specifically pointed out one dish that contained hazelnuts. Later, a golden beet dish was served to the table with no mention that it contained cashews. After taking a few bites, my tongue immediately began tingling. When I asked if the dish contained nuts, our server had to go back to the kitchen to check. He returned and explained that the dish did, in fact, contain cashews and that he didn't know they had recently been added to the recipe. This is exactly the type of mistake allergy protocols are supposed to prevent. Even after it was confirmed that the dish had triggered an allergic reaction, the plate remained on our table until I specifically asked for it to be removed. At the time, I was over six months PREGNANT and traveling alone for work. I had to take Benadryl, leave my business dinner early, miss the remainder of the evening with my colleagues, and spent much of the night vomiting, experiencing gastrointestinal distress, and recovering before a full day of meetings the next morning. I recognize that ingredient changes happen. What is unacceptable is failing to communicate those changes to the staff responsible for protecting guests with serious allergies. The next day, I immediately sent a detailed email to the restaurant's management and owner explaining what happened and asking what changes they planned to make to prevent this from happening to someone else. I never received a response even 2 months later. To make matters worse, I later learned they only removed the charge for the single dish that caused the allergic reaction, despite the significant impact the incident had on my evening, as well as my colleagues, and the obvious seriousness of the situation. I'm incredibly fortunate that my reaction did not progress to anaphylaxis. Another guest may not be so lucky. If you or someone you're dining with has a serious food allergy, I would think very carefully before eating here. A restaurant can make mistakes, but how it responds afterward (or shall I say lack of response) says just as much about its commitment to guest safety; and in my experience, that response was deeply disappointing.
