Our server Ellie appeared, waters were delivered and she took our drink order. Our drinks were delivered and our food order was taken. Seamless, and quick, even with some questions from the ladies. Mind you, it was lunch time on Castro Street, pedestrians only, so very trendy. Busy. NOISE LEVEL LOUD. You may remove hearing aids. DOUBLE SMASH BURGER $19.50 garlic dijonnaise / American cheese / red onion / dill pickles and that was it. Top bun was room temperature, and the bottom bun was only warm from the cooked meat. Had a nice grilled cheese burger aroma, tasting like any other greasy, juicy, salty, cheese burger, nothing different or special. Accompanying fries were mildly seasoned, and I found no need to add salt. It was good, would order it again, but I don't feel it's worth the price. From the $13.00 special price menu: FISH & CHIPS $13.00 - what there was of the small portion of fish was seasoned well, as were the chips (fries). The Brit (the Duchess) in the party, gave her approval. The realm settled into contentment. COKE - $3.95 - glass with ice and straw was just enough to get me through my meal. GINGER LIME SODA - $7.00 - the Duchess was not happy with her order stating it was too sour, lacking any sweetness. She would never, ever order again and especially not at this price. The other couple in our party ordered Eureka burgers (American Swiss / grilled red onion / lettuce / house pickles / tomato / special sauce) substituting cheddar cheese for the Swiss. These burgers did come with bite size lettuce, a slice of tomato and pickle chips and fries. A side of onion rings completed their meal. I stole the woman's pickle chips and the flavor was great, just perfect . . . yum. Accompanied by two IPA beers. The cloudy lagers seemed to fill the bill. These burgers appeared to be just normal, greasy, juicy, salty regular cheese burgers. Nothing to take your breath away. SERVICE: Great! Ellie was attentive without hovering. It was a busy lunchtime hour, but they seem to have enough staff to handle the lunch rush. Ellie handled our table expertly with some patience I might add, so 5 stars to her. 2nd time here and I probably won't return. Pricing and noise level are a concern. Their acoustics are not made to handle the volume of chatter and music. Was in town for the festival. I needed a place that had outdoor seating. This place had outdoor seating and shade. We were seated and the waitress brought out water and menus. She came back and took our drink order. She asked if we were ready. We said we needed more time. I think that they might have been under staffed. It took a while for her to return with the drinks and to take our order. After ordering it took a while before a different server brought out the food. The burger was cooked perfectly. Medium but juicy. Crispy onions,not soggy. Fries were hot and not overly seasoned. We also is ordered the fish tacos off the happy hour menu. It comes with 2 tacos and fries. The taco were grilled and still moist. The food was great,but service was a little slow. I assume it was because it was crowded. I try it again during the week. I love coming here as the ambiance is great, the prices are super reasonable, and food tastes great. I've tried both the Fresno Fig burger, as well as the fish tacos here. Definitely liked the tacos more, but the burger was also great. They have good choices for their kids menu as well. I loved the fact that one of the side options for their kids meal was mixed fruit. Strawberries and pineapple -- the kids loved it plus it was a healthier option over fries. Win-win. Oh and I also tried their dragonfruit cocktail and that was also SO good. We also shared two burgers with fries and sweet potato fries. The tacos were also very good we preferred the shrimp over this fish. I like my tortilla cooked a lil more it was super cold and a bit under cooked for my personal preference. I shared we went there for a birthday dinner. I ordered the nachos with steak and a side of signature fries. My wife ordered the wagyu burger and a caesar salad. The nachos were good. Steak was nice and tender. Probably the best part of the nachos. I did not see any refried beans, even though is says it has it, unless that paste-like green stuff was the beans. There was also something sweet included in the nachos and I'm not a fan of sweetness added to my food. The fries were pretty good. My wife loved the wagyu burger! She ate half of it, which is more than she would normally eat of a burger! She LOVED the Caesar salad! Demolished that! Service was very good. Seated within seconds of walking in. Waitress came by a few time to check on us. Overall, it was good. I've been to Eureka! on Castro Street a few times now, and it has quickly become a go-to. It's always lively thanks to the heavy foot traffic in downtown Mountain View, making it a great spot to hang out, meet people, and people-watch. The bar area is particularly nice, long, with plenty of seating, and a wall of TVs if you're looking to catch a game. * The Food: The Burgers: On my first visit, I tried the Eureka American. It's a thick, juicy burger, and even though I'm usually picky about pickles on my burgers (despite being a fan of pickles generally), theirs provides a perfect balance. It's $18+, which is a bit pricey, especially since the fries portion is a little light, though they are very tasty. The Pro-Tip: I went back on a Wednesday and discovered Smash Burger Wednesday! They do $9 Double Smash Burgers and fries all day! In the Bay Area, finding a full dinner for under $10 is unheard of. The two smashed patties equal the size of a regular burger but at half the price - totally worth it. The Surprise: The absolute standout was the Carrot Cake. The bartender suggested it, and he wasn't lying. It's surprisingly good. As you can tell from my photo, I couldn't even wait to take a picture before diving in. It's officially the thing I look forward to most now. * The Drinks: They have a top-tier collection of whiskeys and a massive rotating beer menu (just look at the taps on the wall!). I had a very healthy portion of an Old Fashioned, but the highlight was the Laughing Monk Belgian. It's crisp, with a hint of citrus, perfectly refreshing as the weather starts to warm up. I liked it so much I had to have a couple. * The Bottom Line: Whether you're there for the craft beer or a solid burger, you can't go wrong. We stopped in on June 19 for dinner. Thankfully, we had a reservation because I did not realize how impacted the business would be because of FIFA/World Cup soccer. We came in a little bit before our reservation and had a beverage at a tall top table by the bar, and I have to note it was the only tall top table that was available, and all the seating at the bar was taken once again busy because of soccer. My old-fashioned and the lavender lemonade were both very good! I have to compliment the female bartender because for 20+ minutes she was by herself and keeping up with all the drink orders. Once again, so glad we made a reservation because when we were seated, there were only two available tables. The fried dill pickles were perfectly prepared. The barbecued bacon burger was cooked as ordered. Unfortunately, the fried chicken sandwich arrived with the spicy aïoli, but with it being so crazy busy I can't really hold it against the waitress because a "food runner" brought it to our table. We both enjoyed the fries and I did get a fried chicken sandwich without the aïoli and a side of mayonnaise. The fried chicken sandwich was delicious and I really liked the coleslaw on top of it/inside it. The hostess, the bar staff, and the waitstaff were all very pleasant, and we really appreciated interacting with Jasmine! On a chilly Saturday afternoon I decided stop by Eureka for a beer and catch up with an old buddy. Fortunately, it was too crowded and we were able to get a table immediately. I was craving a beer that was more malty and "Obi" our server offered a sample of the Karl Strauss and Pizza (yup) Port. Both were decent and I went with the KS. Excellent. My buddy went with a grayhound and it was also excellent. A tip of the cap for then using pink grapefruit juice. Nice touch. Eureka is a fun, lively spot with tons of outdoor seating spilling into the street since the main road is closed to cars. The inside is dimly lit and energetic. It can get a little noisy if you have trouble hearing, but the atmosphere is upbeat and social. We went on a Monday and it stayed pretty full most of the night. Service was very good. Our server checked in often, and the manager even stopped by the table to see how everything was going, which was appreciated. The cocktails are good, and the batch cocktails were a hit at our table. Food was solid across the board. The brussel sprouts were great. The ahi poke stack had very fresh tuna and came with good chips that made it easy to eat. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. The chicken was cooked really well and super juicy, just not quite as spicy as I expected. One thing to note is that many dishes come with some kind of aioli, so that is worth knowing ahead of time. My boyfriend and I were looking to watch some football with a beer and a few snacks, without going to a sports bar or a pub, so we ended up at the Eureka! bar. Overall this was OK, though I know we didn't order enough to fully review. We ordered two hazy IPAs, pretzel bites and split the wings between the orange chile glaze and Eureka! dry rub. The beers were refreshing, but the pretzel bites were sad--the bites themselves were barely bites and there weren't very many. The wings were pretty standard, and we both preferred the orange chile glaze. I liked that these were flavorful without being drenched with dressing. The service at the bar was fine. This was my first time at this location. I went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and we were seated right away. I got a vodka soda splash of cranberry and it was made just like I like it. I had two of these and everytime I leave Eureka I don't feel too drunk which is good but I also don't order their wild child's anymore bc I feel like there's is minimal alcohol in there and more juice. I always love the brussel sprouts and truffle cheese fries! Can't go wrong w those appetizers! This was my first time getting the cheese burger and onion rings. The cheeseburger was good, but I do like the fig burger better. The onion rings were super crunchy and good. The campfire drink is fun, it comes with smoke when in a bottle when the waiter pours it for you and a toasted marshmallow. Great food, terrible bar service. I've been going to this Eureka for nearly 10 years, and over the past year, there's been a real drop in bar service. It's generally impossible to get more than one drink at the bar here. It's wildly understaffed (sometimes there's just one bartender making drinks for the whole restaurant), and it seems like the bartenders are explicitly trained to serve the bar last. The bartenders themselves are great, but most of the time they're preparing a 10 drink backlog for the rest of the restaurant and ignoring anyone sitting at the bar. Sit at the bar and watch them explicitly avoid people waiting for drinks / food to prioritize the dining room backlog. It's a shame - the food is great here, the "Hoppy Hour" is great too, but the management has opted to promote terrible bar service. read more

What on Earth happened to this place?! I've been here a few times before, just never got around to writing a review... I remember thoroughly enjoying my experience at Eureka when it first opened. I fell like Eureka has steadily had a downhill progression since then. The food took forever to come...simple order, just burger and fries; 20 minutes at least and it wasn't outstanding or great. Apparently Eureka is fully onboard the shrinkflation wagon. The sizes of the burgers have shrunk and the prices are up, the flavor seems to be missing as well not. The Fries were good. ~ Bone Marrow Burger - 2.5/5 I had this in the past. This time it looked like a former shadow of itself. My buddy was NOT a fan! Came to Eureka for their bone marrow burger and was satisfied. If you're a bone marrow lover, you will likely be too. It contains bone marrow shiitake butter, grilled onion, horseradish mustard aioli, and roasted roma tomato. I also got a side of truffle fries which were okay; the fries could have been crispier. The meal is obviously decadent, so expect a bit of a food coma after! We sat outside on a nice day. It happened to be St. Patrick's Day and we were seated immediately. Our server was super sweet and more than happy to give me a recommendation when I asked what dessert I should get. The restaurant itself is pretty dimly lit, but we opted to sit at the window where there was plenty of light from the street and fresh air to be enjoyed. The Bourbon Barrell Cake was delicious, but I wish the scoop of ice cream that came with it was more firm. I like a thick, creamy ice cream that you can bite into. I ordered the burger and the Side Ripped Fingerling Potatoes through DoorDash. The burger was fine, but the potatoes were incredibly disappointing. They looked nothing like the menu photo. Instead of crispy fingerling potatoes, it looked like someone scraped the burnt bits stuck to the bottom of the pan into the container. Almost everything was dark, overcooked, and tasted burnt. I couldn't eat them and ended up throwing them away. If this is how the potatoes are normally served, the menu photo is very misleading. read more

We live walking distance from this location and go 2-3 times a year. It's a crowd pleaser restaurant for visitors who like American food, service is always solid and accommodating of families. We always order the Mac and cheese balls, which are perfectly crispy and satisfying. The kids meals are generously sized and we've tried the burgers, chicken sandwiches and salads which have all hit the spot. The big draw for us is in August they run a free kids meal promotion - be sure to mention it because if you don't they usually don't automatically put it on your tab. read more

I looove visiting Eureka for happy hour! It's M-F from 3-6PM. I'd recommend making a reservation since it gets busy quickly! If I had to recommend anything from it... I'd get the mac n' cheese balls and truffle cheese fries. Both are equally delicious and addicting lol. The perfect crisp too! The only other thing I've tried has been the burger, but nothing quite stands out from out IMO. Flash forward todI was in the mood for a burger so we decided, hey why not try it again? We arrived and were seated promptly. The food much better then it was last time I went about 10 years ago. Service: 5/5 Our server was very friendly and had some great suggestions for food choices. He checked up on us and made sure we had enough water. Ambiance: 4/5 It was a little dark and some lighting would have helped. Hence the 1 star! Other then that it had a nice vibe and the booth/chair was comfortable. Food: 5/5 The food was pretty decent! I'd recommend the classic burger as my friend and I both had it and it was super tasty. You can substitute any side for a small charge instead of the fries it comes with. I had the onion rings and they did the trick. We also ordered a salad to *balance those burger calories* and the goat cheese one was a good pairing to the burger! My friend had something called "cinnamon honey sweet potatoes" and at first I'm like what is that??? I've never seen that or tried it on a menu. She felt like a risk taker that day so she ordered them. OMG I had a bite and they were so good! It's like candy for adults. I felt like I was eating a dessert so if you have a sweet tooth these are a must to try! I personally prefer the savory kind but as an avid potato lover I would definitely eat these too. I used to come to Eureka! weekly with coworkers when I worked down in the South Bay and have missed it for a while. Finally came back to meet up with some old friends. The star at Eureka for me has always been the apps, but this time I may have finally found an entree that was better. My protein bowl was awesome: super healthy option that tasted amazing thanks to the fried sweet potato pieces, fried tofu, fresh veggies, and tasty pesto to pull the plate together. However, my husband wasn't impressed with his Wagyu bone marrow burger, which was disappointing since it's the most popular item on Yelp. In terms of apps, I'm sad they discontinued the mini corn dogs and didn't have the Brussels sprouts on the day, so I tried the lettuce wraps which had an incredible sauce, plus the always reliable Mac and cheese balls (now that I'm older, I can only have one not four). Love the vibes here. Enough people to feel lively, but enough space to feel private. Servers took great care of us and kept checking in to help. read more

My sister and I stumbled upon Eureka a week ago. The restaurant is very inviting and the bar was beautiful. We sat at the bar and ordered an espresso martini and an old fashioned. My only complaint is that the espresso martini comes out of a machine (Pre made). I prefer one that is crafted by the bartender. But it was good and we enjoyed our drinks. We also got the Mac and cheese balls. OMG! I can't begin to tell you how delicious they were. Just the right amount of crunch with the gooeyness of the cheeses. Hint of green chili. Deliciousness!!! Food 3.5 Drink 3.5 Ambiance (bar) 1 Service (bar) 1 I'm writing this moments after leaving in the event that the management at this Eureka wants to increase sales, particularly at their bar. This is quite possibly the worst service I've had in years, certainly the worst I can remember. I arrived around 5 o'clock and the bar was about 70% full with one person behind the bar. There are multiple empty spaces with dirty dishes and glasses, however after looking around a bit I made my way to an open seat with the least mess in the area. Lesson 1: pre-bus your station while you're working, your head should rarely be down but scanning the bar at all times. As I sat down I could see the bartender on the far side of the bar cleaning glasses, drinking some water, looking around the restaurant , finally I was able to catch his attention. There is no greeting or smile when he came over, just a simple what can I get you. I ordered my drink and a burger. After he delivered my drink the only other time he said anything to me with when he dropped off the check. Lesson 2: always check on the customer after the food's been delivered, this also gives you a chance to sell another beverage. It was a shift change so one maybe two people were coming on and he was busy getting out of there. The dishes and glassware that I had noticed upon entering the bar were still there 20+ minutes later. The new bar keeps, assuming the person following the other person around the bar was actually a bar keep, they absolutely no attention to the customers at the bar unless the customers reached out to them. I sat with an empty water and an empty drink for well over 15 minutes. The new bar Keep and the person following them around the bar or really involved in their conversation, but after a while they started cleaning the bar. While I was planning on having another drink at that point I was pretty much done with my burger and there was certainly no ambience, conversation or anything else to encourage me to spend more money or stay at the bar. At this point the bar was less than half full. Lesson 3: as a bartender you control the ambience and energy at the bar. Dirty glasses, empty glasses, and spending more time talking to coworkers than the customers is a sure way to have a dead bar and lead to stagnated sales. A small note about the food, while my burger was definitely cooked beyond the medium that I asked for it was still OK. I can assure you that next time I will definitely go to the Cupertino location instead of Mountain View. read more

Yesterday was my first time visiting here after our first choice (Redwood Grill) was a disaster. I guess it was meant to be to come to this place instead and I'm so happy I did! I ordered a Cobb salad with chicken and dry rub chicken wings. The wings were so tasty and crunchy. Definitely highly recommend! My Cobb salad was delicious as well but my only suggestion is that if they can cut the chicken in slices to make it easier to for people to eat. I only suggest that because when I visited their Roseville location for the first time I did noticed that little difference from that location to this location. I posted two pictures to show the difference in the Cobb salad with sliced chicken and non sliced. Other than that the service was attentive and our waiter was very nice and she kept coming back to our table to ask if we needed anything which I really like. Ah! Eureka is hands down one of my favorite spots for unique burgers and excellent cocktails. The vibe is always chill, the staff is friendly and on point, and the food never misses. Located in downtown Mountain View, it's the perfect place to grab a bite and then walk around--so many restaurants nearby and just overall great energy in the area. As for the food, the truffle fries and mac & cheese balls are always to die for. I order them every time without fail. The Fresno Fig Burger has been my go-to for a while now and it's still my favorite--such a perfect balance of flavors. My partner and I are regulars at Eureka MV off of Castro. Whenever we finish an intense workout we are always craving their "Steak and Frites" dish. We highly recommend adding the Bone Marrow Butter for full flavor + truffle fries! The service was fast and friendly. Good ambiance during lunch time with outside and inside seating options. Nice place for happy hour or watching a game. However food is average, slightly pricy. I recommend burger options not so much tacos or sandwiches. read more

Overall 3.5 stars Ambiance- we same on a Friday night and it was really loud. Loud music in the background and lots of people talking over each other. Food- everything was on par with what you would expect from a chain. No complains. read more
