My GF almond bread and skillet potatoes for bfast. Hee.
Kay O.

I swear I've been here 1 million times and I thought I had a review. Apparently not?! Hee My parents have been coming here for years and they are a great cute homie little spot to come for breakfast or lunch. I wanna say they close early by 3 PM and it's literally an all retired crowd that shows up, but the food is delicious, home cooked and covers all the general run-of-the-mill flavors and they have amazing blueberry coffee cake, as well as carrot cake!! Service usually changes rather quickly, but there's some of the same people that work behind the counter year round. You order as you walk in from the front and you're given a number which you seat yourself and bring to the table. About 10-15minutes later, somebody comes out with your food and they will do the table settings as well. Everything is delicious here if you order their chicken salad sandwich to their omelette and even their country skillet! My dad always gets some sort of piece of meat and a salad and has no complaints. I'm sure my parents will continue coming here as well as the older crowd of Sunnyvale, but the food is really delicious and I love their desserts!

We had a wonderful brunch time after Church Sunday. We even were treated to some Christmas music from another group! Always a nice place to visit with friends as the tables and booths are far enough apart so everyone can enjoy their own conversations. I love that the owner comes over to checks how we're doing.

Spinach Quiche, West Coast Sandwich with Added Smoked Chicken and Carrot Cake.

We haven't been to Country Gourmet since last year and were wondering if there's new ownership? Something's definitely different here and it's not horrible but it's not as good as we remember! My Spinach Quiche although lacking some flavor was very fluffy and the potato salad unfortunately was nothing to write about. The Chicken sandwich was decent but also lacked flavor. There was a time when we would buy the entire Carrot Cake at this place but I have to say the slice alone was dry and disappointing. I actually had to return it for a refund after two bites! There's a lot of seating inside and outside. The service is very friendly.

First time here and was really surprised at the type of restaurant this is. No waiter or waitress. You have to order your food up front at the counter and pay for it before you try it?? then you get a number to take to your table that we get to pick. Like a fast food place!! No host or hostess to find us a table. No refills on the sodas and coffee we have to pay for every single cup? Like a Starbucks or Pete's Coffee in the restaurant?? We have to get our own water from the wall area. The menu is limited to types of food. Looks healthy, a lot of salads and organic stuff but not a big selection or variety. The portions are small and for the price this was no Black Bear Diner or Ihops or Hobbee's. It was lunch time so I ordered a CG Burger with a vegetable beef soup and soda and grilled potato's. The potato's were luke warm not hot. The soup was hot and so was the burger. Went to talk to the MOD and she tells me the potato's are made in the morning and kept in some warm tray until people order???? NOT MADE TO ORDER!! NOT FRESH!! EEEEWWW! Not ok with me. The place was busy. A lot of regulars but we will not be back. But overall not a 5 star rating for this YELP ELITE. check the menu's before you head out. It cost us $50.00 and a $5.00 tip for the 2 burgers and soup an soda???

Inside; Not nearly as busy as years ago

Given all the nearby places serving breakfast/brunch, this place wouldn't rank high on my list. Years ago it used to be bustling here with nice cozy vibes. It was once pretty popular, especially during breakfast. When I came for breakfast this time, it was pretty quiet. Unlike before when the waitstaff would take your order, you now order and pay at the cashier, and then have your meal delivered. They said they started this around COVID, but COVID restrictions and all have since been lifted. Just kinds of makes it feel like a fast-food experience. The food now is just mid. Honestly, the veggie omelette and scrambled eggs weren't anything special, and something that most home cooks could make. The most disappointing was the coffee cake. They're supposedly known for this, and I just remember it being better before. Mine was a bit soggy on the bottom. Portion sizes were pretty good. It's definitely a dated restaurant that hasn't done any updating, but I don't mind that as much as the very average food and service.

We've been eyeing this place for decades, but always passed it by. Then girls came for a brunch chat-meet and recommended it. That was the last piece of motivation we needed. Now we are a "member." Weekday brunch appears to be mostly senior and neighbors. That's a good sigh. Senior always watch for good value. Many obviously are frequent patrons, taking their newspaper and sipping the refillable coffee. It's an order-ahead and deliver to your table place. No one seats you and no one comes take your order. The menu is at the entrance and on a "special board." Put simply, standard, no-frill, good-ingredients, well-prepared American breakfast fares. Coffee cake is quite good -- buttery, walnut, and blueberries. Go for the biscuit-based benedict. I think better than English muffin.

San Jose Omelette with biscuit side.

Nice breakfast place with lots of options (gluten free items, including bakery, too). Easy parking close by, friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. If I want a big breakfast, the San Jose Omelette with a biscuit side is filling. Another favorite of mine is the oatmeal that has a variety of toppings. A pitcher of mimosas (orange or raspberry) is affordable and fun option for celebrations.

Came here after a long hike with my friend. I got the eggs Benedict and a cup of coffee. The service was nice and I have no complaints. The table was clean, and the food arrived very quickly. There was plenty of seating, and we decided to sit outside. Wouldn't mind coming again.

i love this place! the service is great and the food is amazing as well. what we got: turkey pesto (10/10 yums): i LOVED the onion focaccia that it came one. it wasn't dry and actually had a lot of flavor. the potato salad it came with was also good. banana french toast (10/10 yums): this was probably the best french toast i have ever had. it wasn't too sweet and the combination of the banana and cinnamon was a perfect combo. this is something i would get again. smoked chicken salad (10/10 yums): personally, i really enjoyed this. the chicken wasn't dry at all. the dressing was pretty sour, so if that is not your style, i'd suggest something else. however, the grapes eere very sweet and paired well with the vinaigrette.

10/19/2024 Country Gourmet 1314 S Mary Ave Sunnyvale, CA 94087 I was in the area on a Saturday morning and tried it for breakfast. It's at the corner with Fremont in a shopping plaza so lot's of parking. I ordered the Mongolian Beef & Eggs off the chalk board at the order counter and given a number stand to take to my table. The interior is a clean tile topped table and chair arrangement with a divider to separate dining areas. My dish and table setup were brought to me shortly. The order consisted of cubes of beef, asparagus slices and scrambled eggs piped with Sriracha sauce over long grain rice. The beef was a little chewy, some of the asparagus was fibrous and chewy and the rice was a little hard. The gravy was a light coating and not very sweet, good. I would request more Sriracha the next time. Service was good with check -ins and other tables got their coffee refilled. The breakfast menu was limited, you won't find a Chorizo Scramble, Corned Beef Hash or Chicken Fried Steak here. Prices are reasonable. I would repeat for the Mongolian Beef, if they have it, not many places serve rice with breakfast in the area.

The place was situated in a quiet plaza just outside of Lawrence Expressway. There's ample parking but it doesn't feel like the location is suitable for a cafe where you can picture sitting inside looking through some big windows facing a busy pedestrian walkway. However, once I stepped inside, I was surprised at how zen and peaceful the decorations were and how fitting it was for a cozy and quiet cafe hangout. The cake shelf was surprisingly busy. And this is where I took one star out because the lines were confusing and the staff skipped me to talk to the group behind me while I was clearly the next to be helped. Luckily another staff member came out from the back kitchen and jumped in to help. The staff spoke fluent mandarin. I was interested in their box cakes. A few of the yelpers raved about their soy milk cake and luckily they had one out for sampling. It was covered with lots of cream and the cake layer was soft and moist, but it was still slightly too sweet for me and I felt that it lacked the tofu kind of soy flavor. Then, I spotted on their menu that they have a black sesame matcha box cake, and black sesame is always my favorite, so I asked for it. They had the last one left! The staff said she had never tried it so she couldn't tell me if it is less sweet than the soy milk cake. Since it was the last one available and I already sampled the soy cake, I decided to give it a try. I am happy that I did. The cake was filled with matcha mousse and tasted light and aromatic with the jasmine kind of matcha flavor. It is definitely less sweet. Unfortunately, it doesn't have as much black sesame as I'd like. But overall, the cake flavor is the kind that I like, subtle, moist, and not too sweet. $38 for a box cake of 4x4 is a bit pricey, but I'm glad that I gave it a try. The cakes were freshly made and tasted best the same day of purchase. They also recommend refrigerating the cake and consuming it within a day or two.

I kept seeing posts about whaT's More cake's persimmon cakes, so I decided to give them a try. I preordered the persimmon molten cake and the persimmon crepe cake through their website. The online ordering process was smooth, and both cakes were ready right on time for pickup. Unfortunately, the persimmon molten cake was disappointing. While I appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet, it was very mild in flavor. It tasted more like a simple sponge cake with a persimmon filling in the center, and overall, it felt quite underwhelming. In contrast, the persimmon crepe cake was much better. Each layer had persimmon cream and jam, which gave it a stronger and more pronounced persimmon flavor without being overly sweet. Overall, it's a cute cake shop worth checking out if you're looking for unique flavors in the South Bay. Parking: Plenty of parking available in the lot.

I wished it had more toppings or something inside that was sweeter, but mostly it just tasted like chalky cocoa powder. Not very sweet and not in a good way. But I wouldn't attempt any chocolate ones again if I did come back here. It's lacking something. As for the inside, it's a spacious place with plenty of seating which is nice, although the music feels a little loud. The service is pretty straight forward here as you can order from a kiosk or up front, and there are screens that show which order number is finished around the restaurant. The bathroom was clean. Overall, wouldn't say it's bad but I'm not sure if I can recommend.

Is Izumi matcha worth the hype?…read more I have been to Izumi matcha over ten times at this point and remember first trying it in their original location in the silver creek area of San Jose before the matcha boom. Prior this place was unique and delicious, and really hit a spot. I believe that now with the various matcha spots around, it may not have as much as of unique selling point. Their tornado matcha is good and sweet, and is a great dessert however in my personal opinion, their traditional drinks are not standouts. Last week I went with a friend and ordered a matcha oat latte with a double shot, and while I tasted the matcha, it was grainy and didn't really have any depth. I wouldn't say I would avoid going here, for a matcha option and to get caffeinated for the day. It is still an option but I feel like it wouldn't be fair to say it's worth driving over 30+ minutes here. As a note too, this location can get extremely busy in terms of parking! The plaza is popping with heavy hitters. Service was fine as they do the self service kiosk with pick up being less than 5 minutes (no big lines), and the store itself is small with no seating outside but plenty of plaza seating outside.
