The Sourdough Bread Company serves up a nice range of sandwiches, soups, and salads. We got the italian sandwich and pastrami & turkey this past Saturday around dinner time. The interior of the restaurant was warm and inviting... literally warm, the heater was on blast on this cold evening in November. The place was empty so service was instant, and our sandwiches were ready in about ten minutes. I wasn't a fan of the hard sourdough which didn't taste very fresh (maybe cuz it was near the end of the day?!?). I do like toasted bread, but not when it's that tough. Luckily the house spread and toppings were tasty, though they did go light on the sauce. Decided to get some sandwiches before going to a park. I was happy to see they have a kids menu. We ordered a fench dip, turkey pesto and kids tuna. The staff were kind and realized that they made a mistake in the kids sandwich. It was supposed to be whole wheat bread instead of sourdough. My husband decided just to keep it as is. He later regretted that decision because my toddler had a hard time eating the bread. My turkey pesto was good but it was a little more garlicy than I expected. I tried my husband's French dip and was better than mine. The au just was delicious. We may come back when we go the park nearby again to try something else. read more

Simple typography decor. One unisex restroom only. It seems to be a family business. The service was outgoing, friendly and helpful. My wife got the Garlic Pesto Turkey: housespread, lettuce, tomato, onion, yellow or dijon mustard, choice of cheese (monterey jack). This garlic pesto is white. We thought they forgot it, but they were nice to point out that it was on the sandwich and their version was a white sauce NOT green. Our bad, but they were so sweet! They offered to remake the sandwich which was not necessary as we were mistaken. I normally get pastrami or pastrami reuben. Though, today, I went with the Turkey Cranberry: housespread, lettuce, tomato, onion, yellow or dijon mustard, choice of cheese (provolone). This was different than most other places, as the cranberry wasn't as sweetly tart, and thick like you would expect. It was more like a sweet jam. The turkey meat was a decent amount. I am glad I tried it but personally next time I'll try another of their sandwiches. Overall, the bread was good. It has that crispy freshness and soft. Though, I wish it was toasted or served warm. The pickle was pretty decent. I'd revisit as they were friendly and so welcoming. Support this local business! read more

Update: went back to try their French Dip sandwich as promised! I was tempted by the server and up-sized to a meal which comes with soup and drink. It was cold and rainy (and since I /just/ had the clam chowder) so I opted for chicken noodle soup! They definitely don't skimp on anything! So much tender beef in the sandwich, plenty of chicken and noodle in the soup, and the bread is delicious as well. Also for the jus, in most other places I run out by the time I finish only half my sandwich, but this place gave me plenty! I would argue that the jus is the heart of a good French Dip sandwich, so I really appreciate them giving me enough to dip the whole sandwich in it! Didn't grab a picture here because I was so hungry but I was thoroughly impressed with their sandwiches. The sourdough was very good and has a nice crunch to it but was also soft. Some sourdough are too hard to bite into. I liked the all American sandwich but I think it needs some additional sauce. I chose to get Dijon mustard but maybe they need a bit more of it. The brisket sandwich was amazing. It does get messy though but worth it. Service was super fast as well. However, the sandwiches are very small for the price: 4" for $12.99, 6" for $13.99, and 8" for $14.99. Making the sandwich a meal is $9.99 for a soup and drink. Bread was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, and there was a decent amount of meat. But spending over $40 for two sandwiches and a small soup is not worth it to me. read more

Unfortunately I will be changing my review from 5 stars to 0 stars. This place may be under new management? However, the quality of food has went down. The meats taste dry? Borderline about to spoil. And,, I URGE all patrons to check their sandwiches before eating or taking the sandwich home. When I checked my sandwich, there was a hair embedded in my sandwich. I don't know if the male workers were wearing hair nets. Or if they purposely did it for whatever reason. But I lost appetite and wasted a $12 sandwich. Yes, don't get confused by the two "Sourdough" sandwich shops within a block of each other. That said, we decided to try the one with a Reuben. We ordered an 8" Pastrami Reuben. The bread was very good with a nice crust. Overall, the sandwich was good with tasty pastrami and sauerkraut. I liked that the sandwich was packed neatly and not "bursting" like shown on the company website. The price is premium, but it did come with spear pickles, and the owner/operator gave us soups and cookies to try. Impressed with the welcoming hospitality. In my opinion, the pastrami needs to be "special" to deserve the premium pricing. Something simple like a slice of bacon or grilled onions would get it there. Or maybe even a shaker of caraway seeds to get the sandwich all the way to a Reuben. I did enjoy the broccoli cheese soup and cookie. Not something I would order typically, but will appreciate if given. By the way, the menu on the wall behind the counter is impossible to read. Should be re-done.
