    (V) Tofu Mixto Bowl with mole
    Grace X.

Had a really fantastic tofu mixto bowl from a work lunch delivery. For some reason the tofu bowls weren't showing up on the ordering menu but I ordered a chicken bowl and left instructions to do tofu and they did. I got the mole sauce which was AMAZING, highly recommend. Portion size was pretty good, especially for the proteins. The menu is really well labelled for vegan options, and pretty much everything is vegan including sauces except for the meat obviously. Price is also reasonable. 10/10!

I came back to try the chicken rice bowl and it was great. Very fresh and delicious mix of ingredients that work well together. The pickled onions and tomatillos were refreshing and crisp. I've never had fresh tomatillos like this in a bowl before and it's something I'm going to add to my cooking. Pairs so well with the mole. The mole on the side is something I didn't try last time and I'm glad I did. Smokey, nutty, and worked well with the bowl. The salsa roja was nice too, with a good kick. The amount of chicken is understandable for the price (~11). And even though I ate most of the chicken in just a few bites, I enjoyed finishing the bowl which has a very fair portion size. I didn't get "flavor fatigue" which usually happens in bowls after the protein is done. Maybe I just need to try more vegetarian bowls in general, bc this basically was one. But next time I'd probably get extra chicken as an add-on lol.

I ordered here because I forgot my lunch and let me just say- they went above and beyond. I was looking for something healthy and this was delicious and nutritious. The way they wrote my name on the box added a little something that said "made with love". Next time I forget my lunch I will be ordering here again.

I was looking for a quick lunch but healthy and affordable at the same time. Recently found this on yelp. The bowl was too pretty and it tasted good as it looks. Definitely a good option and worth a try!

Hi there! We use either canola oil or rice bran oil in our cooking, depending on the dish. For our bowls, we use boneless, skinless chicken thigh (dark meat). Please let us know if you have any other questions. Happy to help!

The food came quickly and was delicious! We tried the mole sampler, and we loved it. Got the torta, which was a big portion for how reasonable the price was! So good and clearly very authentic. We were on our way home from the 17-Mile Drive and wanted to get dinner before our long drive back. I found Padrino Restaurant on Yelp, and we decided to give it a try. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted and seated. I loved that they provide the table with a pitcher of water, but I do wish it was a little larger. We ordered the kids' food while we looked over the menu. This restaurant is a little more expensive than most Mexican restaurants. A kids' quesadilla was $8 with no sides included. We ordered a side of rice and beans for the kids to share since they were $4 each. My oldest got two fried quesadillas, and my youngest got one regular quesadilla. They don't automatically bring out chips and salsa, but they do offer them. I actually don't mind that because it can feel wasteful to give them to every table when not everyone will eat them. I understand the choice. I ordered the Stuffed Chilaquiles with beef. I loved the flavors. They were definitely different from what I am used to, but still very delicious. The asada was seasoned really well, although don't expect a huge portion of meat. I would give this 4/5 stars. My husband ordered the Enchiladas Rojas with a side of rice and beans (for an extra charge). He did not like the sauce at all because it was more like a dark mole sauce than the red sauce he is used to. I traded plates with him, and I actually liked it. It had a darker flavor than what I am used to, but it was still delicious. I would give this 3/5 stars. My mother-in-law ordered the Green Enchiladas. They were very different--they were more like flautas covered in green sauce. Still good, just not what we expected. I would give them 3/5 stars. I am happy we got to try it, and the service was great. I am just not sure if I would come back again. That may simply be because we are so used to the flavors and style of food we grew up with.

Because of timing for other errands we came at 10:30 am and they were open on time and ready. Sitting outside or inside is amazing, outside you get the crowd and the sun. Inside you get amazing interior design. My overall feedback is this is one of the rare "fancy" Mexican places that justify the price and justification. Everything is above average in taste and execution. Brunch Tacos mole: chicken mole poblano, scrambled eggs, huitlacoche, tortillas, epazote crema, fried shallots & avocado. Perfect portioning and the salad that came with it had a fantastic dressing. I pulled some chicken out and gave it to my wife and then it was perfect, a bit too overstuff before. The mole and overall taste were quite good though. Chilaquiles: tortilla chips sautéed in chile de árbol-guajillo salsa, topped with queso fresco, cilantro crema, and an egg. My wife loved this so much it made her question every time she didn't order it before. Fried egg sandwich: two over easy eggs on house baked brioche bun, chipotle aioli, avocado, bacon, cheddar cheese, fried shallot. Kids loved this and happily ate the leftover after. Iced Mexican Cafe: delicious iced coffee with a distinct Mexican taste. Distrito Verde: mezcal, basil, lemon, and falernum. Simple but refreshing brunch cocktail, really paired well with the mole tacos. Chips and salsa: These are not free but worth the price. Both the chips and the 2 salsa are of extremely good quality and preparation. Abnormally tasty and the kids went crazy eating it.

The staff were attentive, gave great menu recommendations, and constantly came by to refill our water. Very spacious dining room. We started with the Queso Fundido, served on a small hot plate with chilis, garlic, and oil on top. It's basically a block of cheese served with chips. Even with the hot plate, it didn't stay gooey for long, but it was a pretty good starter. The Coconut Campachano was creamy and refreshing. It also came with chips, though ours seemed like crumbs from the bottom of the barrel. We got the Trompo tacos and Sautéed Shrimp tacos. Both were tasty, and the tortillas seemed fresh. My wife is Latina, so we're pretty familiar with authentic Latin/Mexican flavors, and from the moment we walked in, we were a little unsure of what to expect. We completely understand we're in Willow Glen and that Copita is going for a more upscale take, but for us, authenticity and flavor still have to be at the heart of the experience. Our waitress was very friendly and polite, and this review is absolutely not a reflection of her service. However, when we asked about the style of the food, there seemed to be a little hesitation in explaining it, which made us even more uncertain about what we had gotten ourselves into. I don't like bashing restaurants or their food, so I'll simply say that, unfortunately, the highlight of our meal was the chips and salsa. The cocktails, on the other hand, were good and definitely not shy on the alcohol! Also, don't expect large portions. The restaurant is clearly aiming for a more upscale presentation and experience, so the plates reflect that. Overall, Copita just wasn't for us. This was our first visit and unfortunately will probably be our last. I genuinely wish them success, but I think a few changes, especially when it comes to the flavors and authenticity of the food could make a big difference.

With over 900 reviews, I had high hopes--and I'm glad to say my meal delivered. Food (4.5 stars) + The two-taco combo (about $13) was a win for me. I chose carnitas and adobada (that saucy red mole-like one!). The adobada was rich, flavorful, and unique, while the carnitas, although a bit dry, had a nice smokiness. The sweet bite of the onions really balanced the tacos--maybe a touch more cilantro and onions next time. + Kat's carnitas burrito was bright red and juicy (I found it perfect, even if she thought it was a tad dry). I think they put some similar yummy sauce as the adobada. Generous portion, meaty, and delicious. + Will's carne asada quesadillas were cheesy and tender. He found them bland, but I thought they were fine. Plus, the generous guac portion (even if it needed a squeeze of lime) was a nice touch. + The salsa bar deserves a shout-out. Mixing the spicy corn-bean blend with hot salsa and pico de gallo? That's a flavor bomb right there. - Carne asada nachos, while generous, fell flat. There was also quite a generous portion of guacamole along with sour cream. My only complaint is the meat lacked that smokiness or char of most asadas. It felt bland--almost taste boiled. I took the meat home to doctor it up! Service/Ambiance (4 stars) + I put this under service because I'm a fan of the unexpected and getting chips with our meal was a nice touch. Bonus Star! ~ You order at the counter, grab your own drinks. Staff were minimal but efficient enough for what it was. It's casual--not full service, but they get the job done. ~ Ambiance is simple--nothing fancy. You've got a salsa bar, a drink station, and it's very much a "grab a table" kind of place. Overall, for a quick, affordable sit-down Mexican spot, it hit the spot for me. My friends rated it 3.5 stars, but I loved it. I'd come back for the carnitas burrito and salsa bar alone!

They were incredibly nice and let us bring in our lovely puppy who behaved greatly. The ambiance was wonderful, lighting was nice, not too loud, and good vibes in general. The singular best thing we got was the Queso Fundido. Literally the best one I have ever had. I'm from Texas and have had a embarassing amount of Latin/Mexican food. We were so incredibly hopeful that everything was going to be at the same level. We also got the Salsa Trio to start which was great. We got some house margs, and a Pinada which were all great flavor, the margs seemed a little light on the alcohol, but overall good. For entree's the adults got Short Rib and Molcajete. The short rib itself was cooked great, but the sauce was very sweet and the chutney like topper was also sweet. I think it would have done a lot better with some more acid or heat or something. The Molcajete was very average and a bit overcooked. The kids got the tenders, which I wouldn't judge any restaurant on, that's just nice for kids to have. The other kiddo got the bean burrito. The flour tortilla was great but it was mostly cheese and just a few beans. We decided to send it on desert for some redemption and got Tres Leches, Flan, and Churros. The Churros tasted freezer burnt, the Flan was extremely over done and hard (not a Flan texture at all), and the Tres Leches was dense and pretty dry which was a bummer. All that being said, I would give it a shot. My sister was with me and said they had been before and really liked the enchilladas. I would go back and try some other things to give them a shot. The Queso Fundido was so incredible I would go back just for that to be honest. Anyways, we will be trying something else around the area tonight and hoping for the best!
